MSI 7788 (MSI H61M-P31) motherboard, intending to use 1.6V memory modules

Hello,
I am intending to purchase a dual channel kit of geil black dragon memory modules. The modules are working at 1.6V. As far as I remember, the moobo specs says that it supports 1.5V dual channel memory modules.
In BIOS, there is the option to change the memory voltage, but it gives me 1.65V.
Should I proceed and purchase the memory modules or I should go for standard 1.5V ?

I have dismounted the CPU cooler asembly after a continous burn in procedure and I achieved 120 celsius degree. I checked all the mosfets and the coils, all of them were cold. Speedfan didn't show that sensor reading.
I have installed though AIDA64 and it seems to find that reading as "AUX".

  • H61M-P31 motherboard and RAID Controller

    Hi
    I have a pc that I want use as a home server, and has the following hardware
    Mother board: H61M-P31
    CPU:  Intel Pentium G620 2.6GHz Dual Core
    Memory: 8GB DDR3
    Hard disks 1x3GB, 2x2GB 1x1GB
    OS: Windows Home Server 2011
    I have already made one expensive purchase of a RAID controller that didn’t fit the mother board and don’t want to do that again so I’m asking anyone who has any experience with this mother board  and/or RAID controllers what are my options, ideally I would want a 4port card.
    Can anyone advise me on what to do.
    Thanks
    Chris

     Was the card you purchased a PCI or PCIe model? if the one you got was PCI then of course it would not fit as there are no PCI slots. Get a PCIe version and it should fit in the lower black PCIe slot.
     According to this it's PCI not PCIe

    So yes you need to update the bios to at minimum 2.4
    I have attached the latest for you.
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
    Use option 1 and point the tool at the compressed archive. (Do not decompress or extract the files)
    Then point the tool at your fat32 formatted flash drive.
    Boot to the usb and proceed with the flash.
    also another question can I get Intel CPU Core i3 2120 Sandy Bridge without updating because it's a Sandy Bridge?

  • Installing a HD 7870 XT 2GB GDDR5 with Boost graphics card on a MSI H61M-P31 G3

    Hi,
    I have a MSI H61M-P31 (G3) motherboard in my PC and I recently purchased a HD 7870 XT 2GB GDDR5 with Boost graphics card. Before purchasing as far as I could tell the graphics card was compatible with the motherboard. However, what seems to be a similar issue with a lot of people installing new graphics cards is that when I put it in my PC and boot it up the monitor doesn't recieve any signal from it and stays blank. I have installed the drivers, including the optional ones, and they don't compete with my old graphics card drivers because they are the same AMD Catalyst Control Centre. I have trawled the internet and tried numerous things but nothing has worked. Is there a fix or are the componenets just not compatible?
    Thanks in advance.

  • MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum motherboard extra firewire ports?

    I'm installing an MSI K8N Neo 2 Platinum motherboard into my case and although I don't need them right now, I would like to be able to access the extra firewire ports. Does anyone know the best way to get ahold of the MSI motherboard 1394 connectors for J1394_1 / J1394_2 option?
    I have the D bracket with the LED's and two extra USB connectors but I don't have the firewire connector. I have USB ports and audio ports on the front of my case which I will use, but no firewire connector, but there is a place for one, just no connector/wires or hardware. Also what is the difference between those two connectors shown in the picture of the optional firewire that appears in the owners manual? They have a different shape.
    Where can I get one? I don't need the proprietary peice if I can use something else.

    Fireware ports are faster for example external drives will be fastest 1394 rather than usb2.
    there are many companies doing drive bays which can add ports to your current case see Front Port Extension Unit however you need to decide what exactly you want,
    The example shown passes through case & connects to rear ports.
    I prefer ones hich connect to the mobo risers leaving rear ports free, however you then have the complexity of matching the pin outs so that it works with your system. Remember it's not like tring to boot, you may not get a 2nd chance if you miswire connection. . If you can find them the best connectors are those with single pin leads, where each individual wire has its own plug so that you can match it to the mobo's pin out diagram for the particular port.
    luck

     You would need to Google for the drivers from the chipset makers or the OEM manufacturer that made the PC.
     If it helps any: LAN -  VIA® VT6105L LAN Controller, Audio - Azalia link controller integrated in Intel® ICH6 chipset. 8-channel audio codec CMedia CMI9880L.

  • MSI 785GM-E51 and memory modules problems

    Could anyone help me with one problem. I have motherboard MSI 785GM-E51 and 4 memory modules GOODRAM GR 1333D364L9/2G. But when I'm inserting ALL modules my system not starting (even POST procedure). So working variants - when I'm inserting:
    - one module in first (boot) slot
    or
    - they inserted in first and third memory slots
    Any ideas?

    It is not motherboard problem, but processor itself - I have AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3,4 Ghz Core Revision C2 and this revision (according to the article: http://www.fcenter.ru/online.shtml?articles/hardware/processors/27650#02) has problems with support memory modules DDR3-1333 Mhz more than 2 modules. Conclusion - either adjust BIOS settings concerning memory timings and memory controller voltage or replace this kind of processor with the same type but with core revision C3

  • Memory modules for Msi Big Bang trinergy

    Hey forum,
    i want to buy some memory modules for my trinergy mobo because the ones i had earlier also proved to be incompatible. I would like to ask you if there are any memory modules besides the ones recommended from the MSI site concerning my mobo. I am looking for a 2x2 gb ram kit with a heat dispenser so it can work around 1600mHz. Thank you in advance
    P.S Is the list on the site the only one? i mean are there any updated versions of it with more high end memory modules tested?

    Ideally you would provide us with your fullsystem specs first >>Posting Guide<<
    From a memory perspective, the reason these modules have heatspreaders is mostly due to marketing and to impress the potential buyers. The secondary reason is that most manufacturers sell you overvolted and overclocked 1066 or 1333 chips on a 1600 marketed module that needs 1,65V instead of the standard 1,5V. Your memory controller is part of the CPU and natively only supports 1333 at 1,5V.
    If you really insist, then at least get yourself a 1600 kit that does this speed at 1,5V. One of the modules that seem to work well are the CMZ4GX3M2A1600C9 from Corsair. From a user perspective, the mem modules from Crucial that you see in my signature come highly recommended as they have been proven to work on the P55 platform whenever used.

  • Msi Big Bang Xpower II can only run with 3 memory modules?

    Hello there! I've just got my new system up and running. But it cant boot with 4 memory modules when there is a module in slot 7? I have a 4x8gb kit from corsair (CMP32GX3M4X1600C10), and a Msi Big Bang Xpower II..
    When i start it, it just shows me the debug code "67" which is "Late Cpu Initialization" according to the "User Guide".. It stays there, for about 15 seconds, then it shuts down, and does the same, over and over..
    Atm, i'm running with 3 modules, and there's no problems at all! I've testet ALL memory blocks, in another computer, and they run just fine..
    What should i do?

    Also, what cpu, bios version , memory type etc
    Make sure the mem mods are in the proper slots for tri channel operation.
    >>Posting Guide<<
    If everything comes up clean, update to the most recent bios. Only do this if your computer is stable in bios. IE You are only having crashes in windows etc.

  • After installing 1.5 with the msi, can I then zip it up and use it...

    After installing 1.5 with the msi, can I then zip it up and use that version on another computer? I've done this successfully already for my needs etc. Just not sure if this was "kosher" etc.
    I've installed Java JRE/JDK 1.5 using:
    jdk-1_5_0_12-windows-i586-p.exe
    I installed it on computer A at C:\jdk1.5.0_12. I then zipped it up and ran it successfully on computer B for my Tomcat service needs. It went seamlessly. However, did I over look any risks doing it this way. I did it this way because the MSI prompts a user for a install path. I need it for both the JRE/JDK to use C:\jdk1.5.0_12. Zipping up my installed version prevents that pesky user-error stuff/support tickets due to user error stuff.
    Granted, I'd rather have users fill out a support ticket due to a typo then erroneously think I was successful at repackaging Java for our needs etc. Follow?
    And therefore, was it ok to zip it up and port it?
    Thanks a lot for your time and help. Truly appreciated!
    Jeff

    [Java Web Start|http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/javawebstart/index.jsp] *(<- link)* is a better alternative for installing (and updating) Java apps. JWS works on all OS' for which there is a JRE.

  • H55M-E33/H55M-P31 Motherboard

      I installed an H55M-E33/H55M-P31 Motherboard with an Intel Core i3 530 2.93 Ghz Processor and 4 Gb of RAM. I am running Windows XP Professional on the computer and want to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. The on-board graphics card cannot get 1366x728 resolution which Windows 8 requires in order to be able to work. What can I do to get this system to meet that minimum graphic resolution requirement? The motherboard does not have an AGP slot on it. Which video card solution could I use, or am I looking at having to upgrade the motherboard?

  • MSI INFO & MSI CLOCK

    After numerous problems since installing my GeForce FX500 Ultra 256DDR I decided to Reinstall Windows XP.
    The drivers have loaded correctly (Thank You!), BUT I have found another problem  ;(
    In the Display Settings it shows the 2 tabs : MSI Info & MSI Clock. When I click on either of them I get a error message pop up which states:
    "You are Trying to run a DLL as an Application", which then asks me to send an error report to Microsoft and closes down the 2 tabs.
    Why is this happening  ?(
    Man I get fed up with problems.

    zero.TA,
    I will walk you though this:
    1) Delete the file msicpl.dll from your Windows Directory.
    2) Download the latest DetonatorFX Drivers from the nVidia Website.
    3) Install the DetonaotrFX Drivers
    4) Use notepad to make a new file and put in it what I quoted below and then save it with the .reg extension.
    Quote
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENVIDIA CorporationGlobalNVTweak]
    "Coolbits"=dword:ffffffff
    "NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
    "NvCplEnableClearViewPage"=dword:00000001
    5) Run the file you just created and it will add itself to your Windows Registry.
    That will open all the extra options in the DetonatorFX Drivers including the Core and RAM Speeds for your GFFX.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • H61M-P31 (G3) Audio over HDMI

    Hello
    i m trying to make a HTPC with H61M-P31 with i3-2125. i m not able to setup with onboard audio over on HDMI cable using onboard disply DVI port. within window 7 i do see my Sony TV but there is no way for me to selet the TV as a audio device inside Volume control option. is it something that i need to set in bios ? what is PEG and IGD stand for ? thx so much for any type of help

    What a surprise to see you on here, micgo.
    IGD = Integrated Graphics Device
    PEG = PCI Express Graphics
    DVI provides display signal only but no audio therefore you may need to use a video card with HDMI output to accomplish your goal.

  • How do I get H61M-P31 to use 1600 memory? What settings?

    Just bought this combo from Fry's, with a Celeron G1610. Seems like a nice grandma system upgrade which is what it is for. I am using Corsair 1600 memory sticks, 2 2gb in dual channel.
    I tried to get 1600 speed out of it, but remains stuck on 1333 (667 in cpu-z).
    I set XMP to enabled, link to auto and tried link, neither made a difference.
    Do I need to up the voltage to 1.65 and what else? Is there a setting for the memory that will actually enable the xmp profile? It seems the JDEC requires 1.65v instead of stock 1.5 volt to get the 1600 (800 x2) speed, but I have hesitated to just raise the voltage and see what happens (I have fried things before just fooling with settings).
    Does anyone know how to set this up? I have the latest BIOS.
    By the way, I also installed the control center, which always starts with the message "please update ME version", even though I have flashed the "bios with me" to 2.6 from 2.5 and then to 2.7. I have the latest Intel software driver installed, too.
    Anyway, sure would appreciate some help on the proper settings.
    Thanks in advance.

    Geez, what an ego. What you said was you didn't think the chipset would support it, which is the motherboard, not the processor. You didn't say you knew, and going on someone's guess is never a good idea when setting up computers.
    Apology for the tone of my response, and I can see that my wording wasn't very precise. I should have posted both links and just said no.
