MSI 790xt-g45 chipset driver

I bought a new 790xt-g45 mainboard,installed Xp Pro sp3,when i install the chipset driver a message appears saying-could not find driver for your hardware and os not supported.I'f downloaded the latest driver from msi and still receiving the same error mesage.When i use vista the chipset driver installs. Any one have a answer for me?

Prior to purchasing my MSI 790XT-G45 mainboard everything ran great. However after swapping out my old motherboard for this one I experience many various crashes in different games. Here is a list of some games that crash:

I tried variations of drivers etc. etc. and I have even recently re-installed the whole OS and let windows 7 (yes I'm running 64 bit) pick out the drivers. These games that crash run great but then crash out of complete randomness. Lost Planet get's a windows error message like Microvolts. Blacksite get's more spefic error messages but do not tell any clues as to why those crashes happened. World of Tanks usually just crashes to Desktop without warning with a rare occasion of a Windows error message.

MSI 790xt-g45 - BIOS not loading

Some time ago, a power surge occurred with no preventative measures. The computer was operational during the outage, and I did not unplug the computer. Upon powering on, there is no splash, beep, or anything of the sort. CPU fan is running, and all four APS LEDs are on.
Directly relevant specs are:
Hiper Type R Mk-II 680W power supply; attempted replacement with Silencer Mk II 750W power supply
MSI 790xt-g45 mobo
Is this borked beyond belief, or is there a chance that this may be recoverable?

Start by clearing the >>CMOS<< with the power cord disconnected.
Test with another stick of RAM.
Test with another CPU.
Test with another graphics card.
Disconnect the hard drive/s during testing.
Process of elimination really. By test each component in turn you'll hopefully find out what's wrong. May be worth taking the motherboard out of the case and running it bare bones on a piece of cardboard during testing.

MSI Z77a-G45 graphics driver issue.

MSI Z77a-G45 graphics driver issue.
Trying to install the graphics drivers for this board from the MSI site, I but every time I do so on loading windows 7 my monitor just goes to sleep and I have to roll back the driver in safe mode. This is the same for the driver found in the windows 7 updates.
Iv downloaded the files a few times over and reinstalled windows twice and the problem remains. Can anyone suggest anything? Is there something I’m missing or need to set in the UEFI bios for using the onboard graphics?

Iv already downloaded V2.A
However I have to say the guide at uk.msi.com/service/biosupdate/ , appears to be putting v2.2 on top of v2.2.
it also says "Download the BIOS that matches your motherboard and version number to your USB device."
I'm not entirely sure what is meant by 'version number' but it dose suggest i need to download V2.10 not V2.A ... call me picky but i want to be sure! lol.
Can anyone confirm ether way? It dose seam rather odd!

Update on my graphics issue
With the default driver, just before the windows 7 log in screen appears. I was getting a portion of it appear first on the bottom 1/8 of the screen. Now its appears to be a snowstorm of bad graphics and its the same when I switched to using HDMI instead.
Not sure if that's a good sign!
For reff my screen is a HP LP2475w tho I'm rather sure there is nawt wrong with the screen.

High latency with MSI 790XT-G45 under W7

I have decided myself to go for W7 one one of my rigs.I ve got some genuine disks of 32 and 64 and loaded W7 for testing purposes .
As my intention is to use the 790XT-G45 (considering it more W7 suited than my Platinum beeing newer more CPU support) tryed both W7 versions , but there is a problem.
Using the DPC high latency tool i get like 100 us under any W7 version with this 790XT-G45.The same board is ok latency wise under XP ,it hovers around 10-20 us when you re not doing anything serious with it .I have to remind that on this board i ve also had some issues with the big mouse cursor thing that seems to be related to motherboard latencyes.
In the past i ve used the K9A2 Platinum with W7 64 RC with the same video card and sound card that i use now on the 790XT-G45 ,but the latency was always 10-20 us.In fact trying again the Platinum gives me under W7 like 10-20 us.
I ve tryed disableing onboards ,removing the Creative and updating to latest BIOS version but no joy.The latency also adds some drag to the system i mean W7 windows don t look to snappy like it feels on Platinum.
So is this board compatible to W7 for real ?
What is so different between the 2 boards ,does the 790X have bigger latencyes than the 790 FX from the Platinum.One of the issues is that even if i would choose the Platinum CPU upgrade path closes.
I repeat i ve tested both boards with default W7 drivers and with vendors drivers and same thing.
Any user with 790XT-G45 encountering this under W7 ?
At first glance it s not a very big issue ,but i m very sure this 100 us get s me while playing to more and i really hate input lag and static on my sound.
Any ideas ?

I agree with Sm3K3R that a 70+ microsecond increase in average DPC latency will have an undesirable affect on some apps (games, real-time streaming, etc.). I also believe that what is good for XP will almost certainly not be good for Windows 7. Too much of the architecture has changed. Better drivers may help going forward. To me, the bigger question is why this mobo takes so much longer to run these routines than the K9A2.
I do not have any serious problems with the apps I run. Some of them may run better with a shorter average DPC latency. I have no way to tell with what I currently have to work with. Other bottlenecks may be in play. I was just responding to Sm3K3R's request for feedback. My power option is set to high performance and my base configuration has 41 processes running, including Diskeeper real-time defragmenter, Avira Antivirus, Logitech SetPoint, Process Lasso's process governor, PeerBlocker, and TaskDock. It also includes the Microsoft search functions and the sidebar with 2 gadgets running. Most of these processes run as services. I thought it was the search, sidebar, or one or more of the non-Microsoft products causing my base 100+ average latency indicated by the DPC high latency tool, so I ran LatencyMon to find out.
I ran it several times for 2 to 5 minutes at a time, starting when the system was idle. The Nvidia display and NT Kernel & System drivers always topped the list, with latencies from 50 to 114 microseconds. The display driver's routine also ran much more often than any thing else, followed, about 60% less often, by the NT Kernel & System driver. Thus these 2 drivers contribute the most to my average DPC latency. The other products listed above most often had 0 or less than 15 microsecond DPC latencies. Once I saw this, I did not bother to check my game configuration which does not have the search, sidebar, and the non-Microsoft products listed above in it.
During a Google search of this issue, I read that someone reduced their average Windows 7 DPC latency by 50 microseconds by turning off the HPET timer. I tried this and it did not work for me.
Looking forward to the results of Sm3K3R's further testing and feedback from others.

I was trying to start my computer in "safe mode" I did the run / config/ and hit ok instead of apply.....
I restarted my computer and only have black screen, I can not get into BIOS .... I have reset the CMOS.. still nothing

MSI 790XT-G45

I got a problem, I can't set the bios to more then 240 fsb without it going black and refuses to start.
The OC switch is off since I want to reach more then 20% OC with my AMD Phenom x4 9550 CPU
I cant get higher? Or can I change some setting to let go of the cap?

Should I use MSI's or Intel's chipset driver with a G31M3-L V2 motherboard?

I just purchased an MSI G31M3-L V2 motherboard, bundled with an Intel E5200 CPU from Fry’s Electronics, and I plan to build a computer with the other parts (listed below in the signature) that I already have.
This will be only my second build so I was doing some research to see that I do it right. One thing I wanted to make sure about was the proper order for installing drivers since that appears to be important.
All seem to agree that the first driver to be installed after the basic Windows installation is the chipset driver. Some even say that the chipset driver should be installed before even installing Windows patches, updates and service packs. Others say to complete the Windows installation first, but all agree that the chipset driver should be the first driver. Ok, so far so good.
There is a driver on the MSI web site labeled “Intel INF Drivers for 945/955/965/975/Q3x/P3x/G3x/X3x Chipsets.” It has a version number of 8.3.0.1013 and an update date of 2008-01-16.
Well that’s great, but in my internet travels today I also came across a chipset driver on the Intel web site which also seems to be for the G31 chipset. It is labeled “INF Update Utility – Primarily for Intel 4, 3, 900 Series Chipsets.” It has a version number of 9.0.0.1008 and a date of 8/2/2008. A look into the release notes for this item indicates that it is for Windows XP and the G31 Express chip set, among others.
Well, of course, my first impulse is to use the Intel supplied driver since it has a higher version number and a later release date, so it must be the better driver, right?
Then I got to thinking: why wouldn’t MSI have this, apparently, newer chipset driver on its web site? Is it possible that I would be better off with the, apparently, older driver on the MSI site? Is it possible, perhaps, that MSI may have made changes to the driver they offer that makes it better for an MSI board than the, apparently, newer Intel driver? Now I don’t know what to think!
So which should I use, the version 8 driver from MSI or the version 9 driver from Intel?

I am building a computer with the parts listed below, but I thought that since the MSI G31M3-L V2 motherboard has on board video, and sound, it might be simpler to start out with that and add my video, and sound, cards later. Of course this means I will have to install the Intel VGA driver and the Realtek audio driver and then add the nVIDIA and Creative drivers when I add those parts.
On the one hand it seems like to get the computer up and stable first and then add in other parts later would be a good idea but on the other hand everyone seems to suggest that the graphics driver should pretty much be the next one installed after the chipset driver, so If I wait to add the nVIDIA card later I’m not really following this guideline.
What do you experienced system builders do in a similar situation, put everything in all at once or start out with the on board stuff first and add the cards in later?

Z87-G45 crash while installing chipset driver

Hello,
Today I've finished building my pc.
i5 4670k with noctua c14
Msi Z87-G45 gaming
Msi gtx 770 twin frozr
Corsair tx650w
Goodram 4gb 1333MHz cl9
Seagate barracuda 500th 7200rpm
Corsair 300r
It worked very well at the beginning. I've managed to install windows 7. But since I didn't have any DVD drive installed, I downloaded msi live update 5.
First, I've installed the USB 3.0 driver. Everything gone smooth. Second was Intel inf driver. In the middle of downloading/installing (didn't notice which one) my screen froze. Mouse and keyboard were not responding. Even ctrl+alt+delete wouldn't change anything.
I decided I'll give him few minutes.
After ten minutes I've restarted pc.
And this is when all my troubles began.
The pc is turning on like normal. All fans are working, all leds on board are light up. But neither on 770 nor integral gpu I have video on my monitor. After 30 seconds it just reboot. Afterwards it just work like normal except I don't have any video going on. It's only one reboot.
Tried to unplug hdd, gpu. Switched memory to different dimm, checked all psu cables, resetted bios settings by taking out battery for 10 minutes.
Now it's only psu, cpu+cooler, mobo. Still no video, and it always reboot once after few moments.
I've tested ram, hdd, psu on my friend's pc. All was good.
I'm kinda running out of ideas. Maybe the UEFI is broken?

MSI Z87 G45 driver problem

I have a MSI z87 g45 motherboard along with a i5 4670K. I've downloaded all the drivers directly from the MSI website. But, I am unable to install intel_rst and intel_vga_mb. Windows says "system does not meet minimum requirements". I don't understand. Anyone got a solution?

Sounds like they are disabled in bios.
If you are using a discrete card and have multi monitor support disabled the IGD will be disabled by default.
Intel Rapid Start is disabled (and not really needed) by default so no worries.

MSI Z97-G45 GAMING Sata controller performance

I have an question about the Intel Z97 Express Chipset Sata 6gb controller on my MSI Z97-G45 GAMING motherboard.
Is there any difference between the sata ports performance that can make different results when testing the hard drives. I have an Seagate 3Tb HDD and an WD RE 3Tb HDD and the Segate seems faster. When testing the drives with the manufacturers test suites Seagate takes about 1min to test and WD takes 2min to test and in HD Tune Pro Segate shows a faster speed and a more even curve.
Could this big difference between the harddrives be affected with which sata port that is being used or are the all the same?

Im quite sure my sata cables in my new computer says 6gb on it but im not 100 sure. Im using Asus black Sata cables with black/white connector and the Sata cable included with the motherboard. So there should not be any problem.
From reading this test it seems there no difference between 6gb and 3gb cables as long as they are high quality cables from known manufacturers. I only own Asus red 3gb cables in my old computer and black/white Asus 6gb cables and the ones included with the modtherboard in my new computer.
