Msi 7950 help

Just wondering I have MSI 7950 oc/ v2 I have ordered a second card for crossfire. And the shop I ordered from have had me waiting almost a month for it to come in stock. If I got them to change my order for a different manufacturer which I don't really want to do as MSI card looks way better and I know what to expect from MSI card. would it work

The gpu is important. You could crossfire with any 7950 model. None the less I'd buy another MSI one if possible.

  • MSI 7950 Twin Frozr HDMI output to TV help needed

Hi, i got an MSI 7950 Twin Frozr last week and it works great. However, i'd like to be able to extend my display to my TV with HDMI cable (brand new and works when plugged to monitor).
It seems i get no signal. In ccc (or Device Manager), my TV doesn't appear.
I have got it working a while back with a GT8800.
Could this be due to unsupported res? frequency?
    Any help appreciated!
    Cheers

if it isn't showing up in CCC or windows display manager then either your tv isnt giving a connection signal or the cable your using has a broken cable inside that the monitor doesn't use but the TV doe's
first get a new hi quality HDMI cable from a good maker like JVC to rule out that the Cable isn't defective (it may be new but it could still be broken as it happens)!
also what brand and model is the TV? (if its an LG there prone to having problems sending a signal of what it is to a graphics card)
also try to clean the hdmi port on the TV as it may have something contaminating the connection!

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Sorry I was looking at the wrong board (G41M-P33 Combo)
Both boards support up to 4GB according to support site, and share the same PCB by the look of it, the only difference seems to be the HDMI and DVI-D ports.
It looks like the P33 has a sticker over the board model but this may be just edited in the photo.

Ah I see, my P33 board is missing the sticker that was over the original printing of the board,
the specs of the P33 does say 8GB max and the E43 says 4GB max, hmm.. the P33 has an upgrade yet downgrade with less output options
Thank you for all your help!! the missing sticker was the confusion :-)

    Hey guys,
what's the difference between these two cards? There's only £3 (around $2) difference and the only thing that's different is one says BE.
MSI Twin Frozr 3GD5 V2/OC Radeon HD 7950 AMD Graphics Card - 3GB
    and
    MSI HD7950 TF 3GD5/OC BE AMD/ATI Graphics Card - 3GB
    Thanks

Yeah, i checked around, couldn't find it either.
I think maybe they've just put the same one up on the site twice. I really can't find any other model of MSI twinfrozr 3 OC. Confusing, but I just went with the V2. Hoping it's a good card!

  • MSI GT70 Help with finding NVIDIA drivers

I just bought an MSI GT70 which has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 780M GPU. I tried updating to the latest driver detected by my Nvidia Experience  (v.320.490) but, it gave me an error that it is unable to install because the hardware cant be detected. I tried the next best thing which is the main Nvidia website. When I tried the Detect my Gpu button and it detected it it said "Your product manufacturer requires you to download a driver for your device from their website". So I went to the MSI website but I can't seem to find the notebook driver. Also tried the Live Update but that seems to only update your inegrated graphics. I need some help updating my GPU guys. Thanks in advance.

Thanks It Installed but I'm afraid I hit a road block. You see when I installed the driver I tried to go the Nvidia Control Panel and I couldn't find it. I checked my Nvidia Experience and it says that my driver is up to date but when I looked at My Rig panel but the GPU section is blank. Thought it was odd so i went to Device Manager to check whats up. Under Device Status I had this message "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". I tried restarting the laptop a few times with an extremely horrible results. Every time I restarted my computer just started with a black screen and froze there ( I waited 30 minutes and I'm sure that was enough to know it froze). Although I did find a back door which was um.. I'm not sure which Fx it was because I just spammed them all ( this was after the multiple restarts). This took me to a menu which gave me the option to start windows normally able to access the laptop. From here I thought to Roll Back the driver. To my luck this was a success now my computer works fine and I am able to access the Nvidia control panel like nothing happen. I'm sure it the correct driver since its the same laptop I bought. Now this is were I need help from you guys any ideas why the driver is doing this? ( Oh and I re-downloaded and installed the driver a few times so I know there is a problem.) Sorry for the trouble and Thanks in advance.

  • Advent DT2410 MSI motherboard help

Hi...I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but it seemed the most logical.
So I've been meaning to upgrade the GPU for my computer. Granted it's not a great computer but I just want to play the latest games at a decent framerate and thought a GTX 660 would be fine.
The computer is an Advent DT2410 and upon research I discovered it uses a MSI board. This one in particular:
    MSI H61M-P31/W8
The problem is reading online people can't get any other video card aside from the one that comes with the computer to work with it. They get no screen and some are saying the BIOS is locked?
It's incredibly confusing can you all help me out please? Or if MSI can suggest how I can use a new video card for this. Thank you so much for your time.
Here are some of the threads about this issue: (It seems I can't post external links :( I'll just let you all copy and paste it sorry for the inconvenience!)

    adventcomputers.co.uk/forums/advent-notebooks-and-desktops/changing-graphic-card-dt4212

    Just a quick question.
I found the motherboard it uses on the MSI site itself. There are two versions and it seems this is the UEFI locked version. So just taking the brand computer out of it and if it is exactly this motherboard with no modification from them will it support a gtx 660?
I found a list of supposed compatible cards right on that site but they're missing the AMD 7000 series and Nvidia 600 series. It seems the board only works with MSI cards. So my question is is that list outdated or does it really not support the 7000 series and 600 series.
    See?

Thanks for trying to help.  The Motherboard/CPU is new.  The Hard Drive, DVD burner, and Floppy Drive came out of my Dell.
Right now my PC is doing well with the 512 Memory, DVD burner, and an 80 GIG H/D (I did re-format it).  If I try to install another H/D or if I try to add my other 256 DDR(this came out of my Dell as well)  the PC will boot up (I hear the post beep) but will not get into windows.  Sometimes it will tell me I am missing a file on Windows/system.  Sometimes after the BIOS info all I get is a blank screen.
(Sorry but I had to redo my PC AGAIN.That is why it has taken so long to respond)

Just FYI though, it appears (by some comments on Newegg.com) that there is some compatibility issue between my CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 750W and the P35 Neo2-FR motherboard.  The power supply worked fine by itself, and the motherboard ended up working fine with a different power supply (Antec Neopower 650 Blue).

  • MSI 7950 twin fozr has no voltage control

Is this card supposed to have voltage control for the memory?
I can change the core voltage fine. Gpuz and afterburner graphs shows the correct core voltage. But when I change the memory voltage sliders and hit apply, gpuz and the afterburner graphs don't change from default 1.6
I think this card is supposed to have memory voltage control because the vrm model number allows it and afterburner is showing me the memory voltage sliders.
But I can't get it to work. Any help?

    Interesting.
The reference 7950 and 7970 boards using the chl 8228 voltage controller do have memory voltage control.
The 7950 card I bought uses the 7970 ref board design with chl 8228 controller.
So the card does or should have the capability based on the hardware. But if you disabled it on the software side to differentiate your product line, that is fair and I can live with that.
But if you are saying the hardware does not support it, then I think something is not right.
