    Is there a compability problem between Radeon 9200 Atlantis,P4 2.66 Gig prosessor and MSI 845PE Max-L ??
Memory module is DDR 400 512 Ram,HD is Maxtor 120 Gig ATA 100
Every single component works fine with my other Motherboard ( MSI 845E Max )
but when I try to start these in 845PE Max-L only thing that happens is prosessor cooler spins 2 seconds...then totally silence....I got a motherboard replaced once
    already....
    I cleared CMOS
    tried another graphic card ( Geforce3 Ti 500 )
Nothing happens even with default settings...
Highly unlikely that two broken motherboards has been given to me !?!?!?!
Please someone tell me what to do..
E-Mail,MSN or here at the Boards...
    - THX -

"Lower you DRAM Freq to 333MHz and increase you DDR Voltage to 2.7v, thereafter incrasing your AGP Voltge to 1.6v."
    Why ? and how ?
    cannot go to BIOS..
and I just asked if there is a compability problem...
Danny : no other cooler movement :(
    just prosessorcooler spins few times,
there are no shorts between board and case through the standoffs.
I took motherboard out of case ( in case of that )
Whole F****n thing is starting to me off...
Never had this much problems with MSI-boards :(
So,once again ; every component works in 845E max ,same case, same powersupply etc.
Only sure thing seems to be : 2 broken motherboards ! ( god damn )

  • MSI 845PE MAX

i'm using the mainboard MSI 845PE MAX
does anyone else uses this board?
i just wanna know if this board can support AGP 8x graphic cards
    can anyone tell me?

hello, nope its support maximum AGP 4x. but good news is that you can use any AGP 8x VGA on it without almost any limitation. differents is quite little. only few visual increament. nothink performance related.

  • MSI 845PE Max Lan - MS-6580 Ver.2.0 boot failure

I recently purchased this mainboard and components. All's working fine except for 1 strange issue:
On each 1st boot-up (after I powered down) the harddisk (UDMA 100, 80GB Western Digital) is not detected. This results in a boot failure.
After this 1st failure I reset and from then on booting is OK, harrdisk is succesfully detected (although it always takes about 10-15 seconds before detecting).
Anyone else experiencing the same problems?
    This is my config:
    - MSI 845PE Max Lan
    - 2,4GHz P4
    - Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm (set as master, only device on its cable)
    - ATI Radeon 9700
    - 512 MB DDR (pc2700)
    Hope anyone can help out.

Note: FSB533 CPU is required in order to choose DDR333 selection in the BIOS setup
    thats what is says here

  • MSI 845PE MAX-L mobo no power whatsoever

    Hi,
Just upgraded my mobo, RAM & processor to the following:
    MSI 845PE MAX-L mainboard
    Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
    DDR-DIMM PC2700 512MB
Put everything together and worked a treat from Monday. Reinstalled all my software including XP and had everting running smoothly for over 24 hours with the tower boxed up (so no possibility of accidentally touching any componentry).
This morning I tried to switch on the machine and NOTHING. No response from the mobo no fans no lights no beep - nothing.
    Checked all leads in place.
Then tried power supply (Eagle ATX 350W Switching Power Supply Pentium 4 compatible) on my old ABIT mobo together with my old 256 Mb SRAM & Hercules 3D Prophet 32MB graphics card. It worked!
So put same setup back on the new MSI mobo, i.e. just graphics card, 512Mb DRAM, power supply & Intel 2.4 processor. Still nothing. Pretty sure got all my leads from the tower in all the right places on Mobo as they matched the previous configuration and that wouldn't have worked before, right?
Whats going on, why does my pc work one day and then can't be arsed the next?
    Lloydich

I had an Eagle 350watt PSU come supplied in my new case but i didnt trust the PSU so i took it out without even trying it.
What is your complete system build setup?
Those el-cheapo PSU's are not really upto running the most intense of systems despite what the manufacturers say.
Unplug a few components from off the PSU and try to boot up again... its not impossible the PSU is dead... honestly if you spend alot of money on a new system it seems criminal not to get a decent PSU, im not criticisng here im just surprised how many people dont consider getting a 'good' PSU to power their new state of the art PC's.
Try the unplugging of a few components that connect to the PSU if this dont work for you then if possible try a better PSU (350 watt does not neccesarily mean its good, some cheap 350 watt PSU's are less powerful than a good 300 watt PSU)

  • Does MSI 845PE Max supports LBA

In fact all is in the title... Does MSI 845PE MAX (6580) supports for LBA drive?

Yes, as you need to have the patch incorporated in order to recognize the total drive to start with. There is some info here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305098

  • 845PE Max SPDIF AUDIO out problem

    Hi there,
    1. I've got 845PE Max MB; C1,7GHz; 256DDR; W98SE.
I haven't got "S" bracket (I can't buy one), but I want to use digital SPDIF out.
I connect CINCH socket to pin #3 of JSP1 [SPDIF out] connector. And I have sound output via it to my amplifier (I can hear proper sound (analog) from movies and windows sounds).
The problem is, that when I open "Sound manager" from system tray & I see  "AC97 Audio Config" Window & I check SPEAKER CONFIG tab -> I can't see "ENABLE SPDIF OUTPUT" check box to choose digital output.
Funny thing is, that some time ago I had digital sound (dolby digital) when I played some movie, but now I don't have it on the same movie.
    2. Neither I don't have MSI DVD application on CDROM attached to the MB. Can I download it from some place ? Maybe it can help to switch SPDIF on ?
    Looking forward for advice,
    Regards,
    M@rek

Unfortunatley i threw out my pc-speakers when i moved last but i could lend a pair to test. But i dont think it would change since i did put in a SB live sound card and put the same cord in that to the surround system and it worked perfeclty first try...
So my assumption here is that there is no error in the connection to the surround system but rather a error in the onboard ..if its a severd connection or a driver issue im cant tell.. but since i tested all driver as of 2 weeks ago i could possibly find. even went to c-medias homepage and downloaded thier latest drivers.. and no luck..

  • MSI 648 MAx Motherboard question regarding AGP Speed

I have recently bought a Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb and installed latest radeon drivers and msi drivers etc.
I have one question. How do I change it from AGP 4X to 8X. When I click on properties and setting, advance, it only shows 4X as max setting. But my motherboard supports 8 Speed and the card is 8 speed so what do I do?
Tried searching forums already but to no avail. Tried looking in BIOS for options but no luck. Any ideas?
    Cheers guys

    Yup.
I fixed my problem. But now that has brought on a new one.
When I installed the latest driver, it would only let me use AGP 4 speed at most. To proove the newest driver was installed, I did a dxdiag and looked for the agp version and found it. When it is the latest driver installed, it only allows 4 speed. So I had to revert back to a middle driver(ie not the very first one and not the most recent). This then brought up the option of 8speed AGP in my ATI SmartGart panel. I was happy with this. But it is not the latest driver and this is now causing Battlefield Vietnam to crash. Continuously. And experience slowdown etc. Which, lets face it, should not be happening.
SO to sum it up, with the latest driver installed, AGP 4 speed is as high as it can go.
But with a middle driver, i can achieve agp 8 speed but my game crashes with this driver.
And to show just how bad SIS are for updating driver, I have to go into device manager, manually find the .inf file for the latest driver and use this to install the latest driver for it to show up as the latest driver in dxdiag.
So who is at fault here? SIS or MSI? What a piece of crap.
EDIT: Would there be any point in flashing the cmos?

  • MSI Z97 G45 Motherboard (CPU / RAM PROBLEM)

Hey guys! I recently built my first PC and need some help! I'll list my setup before elaborating.
    Case = NZXT H440 Black/Red
    MOBO = MSI Z97 G45
    CPU = i7 4790k
    RAM = TridentX 2400 (16GB)
PSU = Corsair AX 760 Platinum
    GPU = MSI GTX 970
    SSD = Samsung Pro 850
Okay so basically after I finished the build and fired it up everything worked GREAT! But, I realized the DRAM was only running at 1333 mhz by default. I did a little research and read that you're suppose to enable XMP Profile 1 on this MSI MOBO in order to achieve the 2400 mhz this memory offers - so that's what I did! However, this caused the CPU to overheat! Apparently XMP overclocks the CPU as well? Bad! I'm on stock cooling. It took me forever to figure out that it was the XMP that was causing the overheating too.
How can I achieve 2400 mhz WITHOUT overclocking the CPU and frying my PC? Why do I have to overclock at all? The ram is sold as 2400 and suppose to be compatible with my motherboard, processor, etc.
    Please help!

Memory speed is down to how your computers CPU's Memory controller handles the higher frequancy and if the CPU sees that the IMC is suddenly loosing a hold it will boost up the Voltage on the IMC (More voltage = More Heat) its a total shot in the dark that any CPU can use above its listed memory speed without needing more voltage to be stable!
your CPU's IMC will be overtaxed by running at 2400 so the voltage is increased to use that as the speed is at 150% what the IMC was rated at (1333/1600Mhz)
    for your 4790k
    Memory Specifications
Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type)    32 GB
    Memory Types    DDR3 1333/1600
Max # of Memory Channels    2
    Max Memory Bandwidth    25.6 GB/s
    ECC Memory Supported ‡ No
if i was you its always a good idea to get a aftermarket cooler as the intel stock ones are very poor and are just barely enougth so the best thing to do is get a better one (e.g. a Coolermaster Hyper 212) that has a higher cooling capacity for not that much money!
that ram is putting 150% its design load on the IMC so it will be generating more heat then it was meant for so you need better cooling if your running those high OC memory sticks!
So what happens if I turn up the frequency to 2400 mhz without using the XMP profiles? Will the CPU still overclock? I know the memory needs more voltage at higher frequency, but what about CPU? Sorry I'm new to all this it's a lot to take in.

  • MSI 6600 256 dual screen card problem with saving window locations

    Hi,
We are running the dual screen setup for this card. We can't seem to find the place where you tell the video card to save windows postions. Everytime we close the app the window goes back to primary monitor location.
I know that older msi cards can save the window location. Can someone tell me how to access this feature using the msi 6600?
    Thanks,

Most likely a driver bug, what drivers? And from where?
You could go to nVidia and read the PDF Documentation and manuals that come with each driver release. nVidia Drivers
Could even go here and browse the folders ftp://download1.nvidia.com/Windows/ You'll see user guides in PDF format.

  • Have the MSI-845Pe MAX(pure version) PCIlock and AGPlock???

    I have a question.
I want to buy this motherboard and I don´t know if this motherboard have PCIlock and AGPlock for a little overclocking.
    thanks for all.

I'm sure. It's in the bios under "frequency/voltage control".
You have the choice of AUTO (unlocked), and several locked frequencies. Currently have mine set at 66.67/33.3.

  • _IDE problems_ with MSI 845PE Max + Win2k

    Hi!
I hope somebody have an idea, because I'm out of tip.
I've been using XP, and I had no problem with IDE drivers. But now I decided to install Win2k instead of XP. I installed it, configured everything (VGA + Tuner + Audio ...), and everything looked fine.
But I noticed I have some problem with the Win2k's default IDE drivers, because if I listen to an MP3 and meanwhile I start to copy a big file from CD to HDD, the mp3 playing flickers audibly!!! :( So the mp3 slows down, and sometimes it pauses. And this is not the only symptom of the problem: my HDD is a bit slower than it was under XP (booting is too slow). However it's a quite fast HDD (WD 800BB). And another problem: during CD-writing the writing buffer always decreases to 10-20%, and then increases back to 95%, and again back to 10-20%. So it oscialltes. But under XP it was constantly 95%...
And then I remembered when I installed Intel Applicatin Accelerator under XP, the booting became much faster, and maybe it got faster after booting too.
So I installed IAA 2.2.2 which comes with the mainboard's CD. After install it asks for restart. I click Ok, it starts, and says need another restart, because Win finished installing new drivers. It's ok, restart. Now booting is much faster, everything looks ok, but before I could log in I got a sudden blue death because of "ntoskrnl.exe", and it complained about some memory problem. And next time Win didn't started. Hanged up at booting. :(
Ok, next install of Win2k. And everything is the same: Win2k is ok until I install IAA (I tried it with version 2.3 too, but the same...). So it always does blue death, and sais about memory things. (But memory must be ok, because I had XP before and I had no problem with memory, and I tested it with memtest86 too).
Please, if somebody have the same issue, or knows about any sollution, please tell me a tip what to do! Some kind of another IDE driver for me, or should I configure something else???
    I hope somebody helps!
    Thx,
    Dexx

    [
Don't install the IAA, install the intel inf and in the IDE controller's properties enable "DMA if available".
Man! THX! I cannot believe I didn't noticed it wasn't set automatically to DMA if available... But why doesn't windows automatically sets it to DMA ? Argh...
And the IAA? Why doesn't it work on Win2k if it worked on XP correctly? I don't understand.
By the way now the only thing that is missing: my fast booting
But I don't care, now everything looks fine afterall...
    Thx,
    Dexx

  • Msi 648 max motherboard

I am looking for wiring connection info. in particular on JR1, JFP1, JPW1, JBT1.
are the wires to JR1 single or multi connections?
on JFP1 there are 3, 2 pin connectors. grn/blk= power sw
wh/blk reset sw and red/blk HDD LED
There are no directions in the manual of in which direction these connections go. pin no's are not marked on the wire connectors.
I am not able to locate the wires for JBT1
I also have a set of (2)+5v-D+-D-and gnd and I don't know where they go. They are not listed in the manual.
on the top left of the MB there is a square connector for a 12v connection that runs the CPU. I am not able to find the wires for that either.
This is the first computer I* have rebuilt in 6 years and I am a bit rusty.
If anyone can help that would be great
    Thanks

    Thanks, appreciate your help.

It doesn't matter for the Power Switch and Reset Switch connectors.  Most cases have a 3-pin connector for the power LED; hook that to the 3-pin header on JFP2 if you have it, and the green wire usually goes on the side towards JFP1.  I don't remember which way the HD LED connector goes, but you won't hurt it by hooking it up backwards; if it doesn't work, just reverse it.

The board should run fine without it.  It doesn't say so specifically in the manual, but it has been an optional connection on every board I've seen so far.
