MSI 845PE (MS-6580 v2.x) & TWINX1024-2700LL

MSI 845PE (MS-6580 v2.x) - 2 DIMM slots
Intel P4 2.4GHz
To date, I have been using a single stick of Nanya PC2700U 512MB.  It's been working fine but I wanted to upgrade to 1GB so I just purchased the Corsair TWINX1024-2700LL.  I stick the Corsair memory modules in and the machine will not POST.
Here are the scenarios I have tried to date:
DDR1 = DDR slot1
DDR2 = DDR slot2
TWINX1 = TWINX module 1
TWINX2 = TWINX module 2
DDR1 = TWINX1/DDR2 = TWINX2   -> won't POST
DDR1 = TWINX1/DDR2 = *Empty*  -> Boots with 512MB of memory
DDR1 = TWINX2/DDR2 = *Empty*  -> Boots with 512MB of memory
DDR1 = *Empty*/DDR2 = TWINX1  -> won't POST
DDR1 = *Empty*/DDR2 = TWINX2  -> won't POST
DDR1 = *Empty*/DDR2 = Nanya    -> Boots with 512MB of memory
DDR2 = Nanya/DDR2 = *Empty*    -> Boots with 512MB of memory
DDR1 = TWINX1/DDR2 = Nanya     -> Boots with 1GB of memory
DDR1 = TWINX2/DDR2 = Nanya     -> Boots with 1GB of memory
DDR1 = Nanya/DDR2 = TWINX1     -> won't POST
DDR1 = Nanya/DDR2 = TWINX2     -> won't POST
These are my current Latency and Voltage settings.  I am not overclocking.
CAS # LAT = 2.5
RAS # Precharge = 3
RAS # to CAS # Delay = 3
Precharge Delay = 7
Burst Length = 4
DDR Power Voltage = 2.5V
Any ideas why I can't get the TWINX modules to work together?

Again; I must say that from Every Forum that I have Browsed. It seems to be That Just About Every INTEL Chipset Based MB, Does NOT Like to play with Low-Latency Modules Operating in Pairs, And when you try to operate the LL Stuff in a Dual-Channel Board, The Outcome is Even worse ...Is ther ANY WAY that you can RMA the LL RAM for someRegular Timed Corsair TWINX-2700? Or better yet RMA them for some Corsair TWINX-3200 Modules?....Because your Board will infact Perform MUCH Better with PC-3200 RAM instead of the PC-2700 Stuff. And Even if your Board does Not Officially Support PC-3200 (DDR-400) It Will Operate with the DDR-400 . And I am Sure of this Because we have 12 of the MSI-845PE's, And we have since replaced all the RAM in them to Corsair PC-3200 without a single issue, And Only 5 of our i845's Have 533MHZ Bus 2.66GHZ P4's, As the First 7 Boards that we Bought, we put the Oh so Hard to find 2.6GHZ 400MHZ Bus P4's.............Sean REILLY875

  • Does MSI 845PE Max supports LBA

    In fact all is in the title... Does MSI 845PE MAX (6580) supports for LBA drive?

    Yes, as you need to have the patch incorporated in order to recognize the total drive to start with. There is some info here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;305098

  • MSI 845PE Max2 (MS-6580 v2.0) Help Please!

    OK... I'm confused  ?(
    Well... I got the MSI 845PE Max2 - L (MS-6580 v2.0) on
    order. Now I'm reading that alot of peeps having so
    many problems with it!  8o
    I just read a reply from Assaf saying that the board was SUED?
    First off, what does this mean?
    Should I return this board when it arrives or keep it?
    Also, Im a little unclear of the difference between the
    845PE Max2 (MS-6704) & the 845PE Max2 (MS-6580 v2.0)
    Why are there 2 Different models that both say 845PE Max2?
    NOTE:
    I plan on using my Crucial DDR 333 (2 x 256MB) & a PIV 2.40 (533MHz FSB).
    My other Specs are below.....
    Any help will be appreciated.
    I rather not even open the box if this board has MAJOR problems.[/color]

    Uhmm i think you are mixing boards
    There is no such board (at least not yet) as a 845pe-max2 version 2.0 there is a 845pe-max version 2. There is some difference between the max and the max2 board. The max version only has room for two dimms, no bluetooth/raid and gigabit support. So you are talking about two completely different boards but with very similar names I'm not a motherboard expert but i have tried the max2 version (6704) and i wasn't completely satisfied, cpu temp is way off, bios upgrade caused wierd problems, when using my adaptec 2940uw controller raid bios disappers. I think this is a result of the companies releasing their products to soon, as far as i can tell (and i have been reading a bit ) all 845pe based motherboards have their problems. When you ask what to buy everyone is saying asus p4pe, i for one think that asus is overpriced and i really don't wanna waste money on a serial ata solution which has no future. Their onboard audio isn't suported by freebsd. I have not decided quite yet, i was actually rather satisfied with my msi 845pe max2, it has a lot of nice features and i like msi liveupdate, the board runs perfectly with other os's than windows, but i will see some response from msi regarding those problems there is,
    and currently i'm awating to see if msi will release a bios that perhaps will fix those problems i (and alot others) had with this board.

  • MSI 845PE Max Lan - MS-6580 Ver.2.0 boot failure

    I recently purchased this mainboard and components. All's working fine except for 1 strange issue:
    On each 1st boot-up (after I powered down) the harddisk (UDMA 100, 80GB Western Digital) is not detected. This results in a boot failure.
    After this 1st failure I reset and from then on booting is OK, harrdisk is succesfully detected (although it always takes about 10-15 seconds before detecting).
    Anyone else experiencing the same problems?
    This is my config:
    - MSI 845PE Max Lan
    - 2,4GHz P4
    - Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm (set as master, only device on its cable)
    - ATI Radeon 9700
    - 512 MB DDR (pc2700)
    Hope anyone can help out.

    Note: FSB533 CPU is required in order to choose DDR333 selection in the BIOS setup
    thats what is says here

  • WinXP and MSI 845PE MAX2

    Got the following problem.
    I've just purchased an MSI 845PE MAX2 (MS-6704) with a PIV 2,4ghz 533 processor and 512mb DDR PC2700.
    Onboard USB/FIREWIRE/LAN and ATA133raid are enabled. My graphics card is a Matrox G400 which is using IRQ10.
    I have 3 HDD's installed together with 1 DVD-ROM and 1 3,5" diskdrive.
    I have WinXP proffesional installed without any servicepack.
    When I boot my system, everythings goes fine. I see the XP bootscreen and so. After the bootscreen, the pc normally goes to the sign-in screen. Well not for me.
    After the bootscreen my monitor goes black, not standby just black and the system doesn't do anything.
    Booting in save mode is no problem.
    I have also disabled all the onboard stuff and booted the system with only my graphicscard in it. There is no IRQ that is used twice.
    Can somebody help me?
    thx

    Yeah, strange isn't?!
    I've installed the RAID drivers during installation (HIT F6 if you want to install a third party driver)
    Finished installation, restarted the pc and it gave this problem.
    So for short:
    Builded a new pc.
    Everything worked.
    Installed WinXP on a new HDD (80gb WD)
    Made 1 partition of 8gb NTFS, the rest is unallocated.
    Installed WinXP without any service packs
    XP installed the drivers for:
    USB/FIREWIRE/LAN/RAID/SOUND and also for some PCIcards: SCSIcard without bios, SB Live.
    I had also a Pinnacle TVcard placed in the system but XP doesn't have any drivers included for it.
    After finishing installation, rebooted.
    XP wouldn't start.
    Removed all pci cards.
    same problem
    disabled USB/FIREWIRE/LAN/SOUND
    still the same problem.
    Maybe a driver problem of a pci card which I removed but still is 'installed' in XP?

  • MSI 845pe fsir MSI-6704 BlueTooth

    Hi
    MSI 845pe fsir MSI-6704 bluetooth
    Had this board for a while very happy with it.
    After buying a Bluetooth PDA I needed to add the supplied bluetooth bracket.
    Instructions pretty poor but plugged in lead from the bracket to Bluetooth
    socket, plugged in antenna and installed Bluetooth drivers from MSI CD.
    Have Bluetooth icon in tray but it wont find any other devices and also have a
    warning that a network lead is unplugged. My main LAN is OK so its not that.
    Cant find anything on the MSI support site, drivers FAQs nothing - useless
    Anyone using Bluetooth with this board offer any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance
    Kev

    the bracket is just that just a bracket you still have to install a blue tooth base station or the dongle in the board
    either that

    or i think

    but there is no blue tooth as such built into the board at all

  • MSI 845PE MAX2 FSB 800???

    I've got the MSI 845pe max2, and have been trying to find out if it's possible to get FSB 800 of this board like the MSI 845PE MAX3?

    Hi,
    You're using the "Network access" service of the desktop box I guess? That gives you access to the Bluetooth LAN adapter being installed with the Widcomm software. If you want to make some connections out you have to configure Internet connection sharing on the desktop box as well - and ofcourse make sure that the two devices are correctly paired with sufficient permissions in the security config. I have been running about the same setup on a slightly older 845E Max2-BLR MB using XP with virtually zero issues...

  • MSI 845PE MAX-L mobo no power whatsoever

    Hi,
    Just upgraded my mobo, RAM & processor to the following:
    MSI 845PE MAX-L mainboard
    Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
    DDR-DIMM PC2700 512MB
    Put everything together and worked a treat from Monday. Reinstalled all my software including XP and had everting running smoothly for over 24 hours with the tower boxed up (so no possibility of accidentally touching any componentry).
    This morning I tried to switch on the machine and NOTHING. No response from the mobo no fans no lights no beep - nothing.
    Checked all leads in place.
    Then tried power supply (Eagle ATX 350W Switching Power Supply Pentium 4 compatible) on my old ABIT mobo together with my old 256 Mb SRAM & Hercules 3D Prophet 32MB graphics card. It worked!
    So put same setup back on the new MSI mobo, i.e. just graphics card, 512Mb DRAM, power supply & Intel 2.4 processor. Still nothing. Pretty sure got all my leads from the tower in all the right places on Mobo as they matched the previous configuration and that wouldn't have worked before, right?
    Whats going on, why does my pc work one day and then can't be arsed the next?
    Lloydich

    I had an Eagle 350watt PSU come supplied in my new case but i didnt trust the PSU so i took it out without even trying it.
    What is your complete system build setup?
    Those el-cheapo PSU's are not really upto running the most intense of systems despite what the manufacturers say.
    Unplug a few components from off the PSU and try to boot up again... its not impossible the PSU is dead... honestly if you spend alot of money on a new system it seems criminal not to get a decent PSU, im not criticisng here im just surprised how many people dont consider getting a 'good' PSU to power their new state of the art PC's.
    Try the unplugging of a few components that connect to the PSU if this dont work for you then if possible try a better PSU (350 watt does not neccesarily mean its good, some cheap 350 watt PSU's are less powerful than a good 300 watt PSU)

  • MSI 845PE Max-L

    Is there a compability problem between Radeon 9200 Atlantis,P4 2.66 Gig prosessor and MSI 845PE Max-L ??
    Memory module is DDR 400 512 Ram,HD is Maxtor 120 Gig ATA 100
    Every single component works fine with my other Motherboard ( MSI 845E Max )
    but when I try to start these in 845PE Max-L only thing that happens is prosessor cooler spins 2 seconds...then totally silence....I got a motherboard replaced once
    already....
    I cleared CMOS
    tried another graphic card ( Geforce3 Ti 500 )
    Nothing happens even with default settings...
    Highly unlikely that two broken motherboards has been given to me !?!?!?!
    Please someone tell me what to do..
    E-Mail,MSN or here at the Boards...
    - THX -

    "Lower you DRAM Freq to 333MHz and increase you DDR Voltage to 2.7v, thereafter incrasing your AGP Voltge to 1.6v."
    Why ? and how ?
    cannot go to BIOS..
    and I just asked if there is a compability problem...
    Danny : no other cooler movement :(
    just prosessorcooler spins few times,
    there are no shorts between board and case through the standoffs.
    I took motherboard out of case ( in case of that )
    Whole F****n thing is starting to me off...
    Never had this much problems with MSI-boards :(
    So,once again ; every component works in 845E max ,same case,same powersupply etc.
    Only sure thing seems to be : 2 broken motherboards ! ( god damn )

  • 845PE Max (6580 v.2.0) and Maxtor DiamondMax 9 Plus - Problem!

    Hi!
    My mobo (845PE Max - MS 6580 v.2.0) detecting my hard disk (Maxtor DiamondMax 9 Plus 80GB ATA133 7200rpm) as the drive working in UltraDMA/2 mode (ATA33). What is wrong? How can I set it to work in mode UltraDMA/5 (ATA100)???
    Please, help me as quick as possible.
    Best regards
    Martin "Kenickie"

    System: MS Windows XP Pro. No Service Pack 1 installed yet.
    But it doesn't matter.
    Disk is recognized as UDMA/2 by BIOS!!! I upgraded BIOS to newest (3.40) but it didn't help.
    This Maxtor is connected as Primary Master, and there is a CD-Recorder (TEAC CD-W516EB) on the same cable as Primary Slave. Teac is also recognized as UDMA/2. At the secondary Controller I have CD-ROM Drive (TEAC x32).
