  • MSI Geforce 3 WDM and bios problem plz help!!!

    Hi
I have a MSI Geforce 3 Ti200 Pro-VT and when i install any detenator driver above 23.11 then the capture card wont work! The driver for the capture device says it wont start so i am stuck with 23.11. I have tries later WDM drivers and detenator drivers but they all give the same problem! I have also tried to flash the bios but live update 2 says Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function which it is supposed to have. When i go directly to the bios page and try to update it then the update fails. The flash program seems to think that i have a different card or something but my  system information says that i do. This it the information:
    VGA Card Manufacturer MSI
    VGA Card Model Name MS-8850
    VGA Card BIOS Vendor NVIDIA
    VGA Card BIOS Version 3.20.00.18.03
    VGA Card Driver Version 2311
Can someone please help me cause it would be nice to have the latest drivers working for the card.
    Thanks
    Nixus

I downloaded the bios files from http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/ and then downloaded NVFLASH.EXE and booted in dos and flashed the card i had to force the flash though it had some conflict of data or something but i knew it was the right bios and i had made a backup of the current one plust the card has dual bios so i wasnt too worried and it all worked out fine.
Goodluck with gettin all your cards workin

  • Change Vcore on Prescott MSI 865PE 6728 Neo2 is possible !!!

    hello
a vcore change on the MSI 6728 Neo-2 IS possible, you just have to use the bios version 1.9 !!! but you dont have the advance of the bugs fixed in actual version.
it looks like MSI only "HIDE" the vcore settings. the tool "AMIBCP75" dosent work on the new AMI bios. does anyone have a new AMIBCP for 8 series bios ???
i hope that msi change this very very soon, cause without a vcore change for prescott this board is NO hardcore overclocking board ! very bad thing !
looks like epox also stops vcore change on prescott in new bios
(sorrys for bad english :-) )
    psycho

psycho303, You might want to read this before you change your V Core
    http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NTg5
    Quote
I discussed the Vcore change question with the board designer over last weekend. Base on my understanding, the reason we didn't offer that when Prescott is populated was because a new Intel VID design on Prescott: "Dynamic VID" (VID becomes variable on different stages). According to the board designer, if M/B (BIOS) overwrite the Vcore, Dynamic VID will become invalid which might damage the CPU (Prescott Core) when power stage changed.
It is my understanding that bios version 1.9 does not support this VID and you could end up with a "dead" chip.
After updating my bios I can watch the Vcore throttle up and down as the load on the CPU changes . At an idle it is around 1.36 and under a load it can go as high as 1.48. If you bump up the starting point of the Vcore it could throttle up higher than the chip can handle
I am able to get 3.59 out of my chip on the stock vcore and can go much higher but I am using "Air" and have to watch the heat.

    OK. i have the 865PE Neo2 LS.
After a long of reseach, i can say that this mobo rocks!!!, but u must know exactly what u r doing....
I strongly suggest to have BIOS V1.5 !! (I flashed from 1.3, in which there was no
    support for Hyperthreading..)
Follow this steps exactly (if u have at least DDR433, if not reduce fsb to match your memory specs)
    1. Disable Dynamic Overclocking (DOT)
    2. Set DDR frequency to 333MHz to obtain the 5/4 CPU/Memory FSB ratio
    3. Set DRAM timings to auto (SPD) if u dont know the correct specs. If u do disable SPD and set them.
    4. Note : MAT is automaticaly disabled in 4:5 mode (You can set Performance = Slow, but even in Ultra turbo
this is the same-not actually wotking)
    5. Increase the Vcore from 1.5225 to 1.600 volts (safe up to 1.8)
    6. Set CPU FSB=271MHz (this runs the DDR at 433 (216.5 x 2), go lower if your DDR is less than 433)
    7. Set AGP/PCI ratio fixed to 68/34. If you go higher u may have problems with
    sound and VGA card.
    Save and ReBoot !!!
    Note2:
DOT is crap (It works if u dont overclock at BIOS and the max FSB increase at General level is 10%)
MAT is also crap compared to a CPU FSB of 271 and DDR @ 433. (MAT offers 5% max improvement in memory bandwidth)
which is nothing compared to the above FSBs.
    Note3 : NB temp is invalid..ignore it
Go see for your self my benchmarking results at :
    http://stefanos9.topcities.com/Downloads.html
    (Download pc1 and pc2 ppt)
IF you reach to 5400 in memory bandwidth, then the bottleneck is eliminated. From 5400 and above is the same.
Check memory bandwidth benchmarks, they are above the 875PE with intel's MAT/PAT !!!!

  • URGENT! why msi 865pe(6728) doesnt support intel celleron 1.7 cpu?

why msi 865pe(6728) neo2-s doesn't support intel celleron 1.7 cpu?
all other 865 chipsets support intel celleron cpus but msi mobos not ! why? or is there any way that i can run mobo with celleron 1.7 cpu?

yes, we have tried. yesterday i bought a new mobo for my friend. he has celleron 1.7, when we start the system it does nothing also the d-bracket colors are
    OO
    OO
O:red that means "the d-led will hang here if the processor is damaged or not installed properly! "
the same procesor is workings with no problem on his old board!
is there any solution that you can suggest? as i sad all other 865 chipsets  support celleron cpus! :(

  • Problem with NIC and Firewire on MSI 865PE NEO2-PFISR

Hi, I have lots of trouble getting the network adapter on the MSI 865PE NEO2-PFISR to work.
The NIC's LED indicators doesnt even light up when I plug in a network cable,
and in windows (win 2003 server) it doesnt find the adapter at all.
The NIC is displayed in the bios, and I have the option to disable it,
    but it is enabled.
I have even reinstalled windows 2003 server to try to get the NIC to work.
I have upgraded the bios to v3.8 via live update, with no problems, although the
firewire-option on the same page in the bios is still gone, it doesnt detect the
    firewire at all(!).
    I have also tried several other NIC's (a 3COM 3C905B TX and a 3C905B TX XL
PCI adapter). The 3C905B TX worked fine for a while, and then it started saying in
windows that a network cable was unplugged, and began to try 10mbit, 100mbit
lots of retries, now it doesnt work at all.
I swapped tp-cables and changed the ports on the network switch (which there is
also other computers attached to which doesnt have any problems) and that didnt
    made any difference.
It seems that the whole pci bus is long gone, and maybe the onboard NIC is
attached to this same pci bus?
Strange also about the firewire-controller which isnt detected anymore.
The USB devices work, and even a 3com usb wlan adapter works well.
I have tried to reset the bios several times without that making a difference.
Anybody have a clue to point out here?
    Cheers!

I returned the motherboard to the reseller and got a new motherboard as a replacement. This doesnt have all the same problems. At first it didnt post at all, indicating to red lights on the diagnosis.
Then I was so pissed I hadnt touched the computer in a week, and just tried to use it a few days ago, and it seemed to work all ok. I used it for a few hours, and then it locked up.
When I powered it up again, the lights on the integrated adapter was out. At first it seemed to work to take the agp card a little out of its slot, as if it was unaligned or something. Used it for a few more hours.
Then I plugged in the sound cables (5.1 sound with 3 cables), and with the last cable, the network darkened out AGAIN!!
In the bios it still indicates that the network is enabled, firewire is enabled etc.
I twisted the network cable, and for a few microseconds I get a orange light, not the usual green light. Now this has stopped too.
I see other also have problems with these symptoms so I guess I've got another black monday card.
I will return this card too, and ask the reseller to get a card of another brand.

  • [Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?
    Thanks.

Dual channel requires an even number of sticks.

  • MSI 865PE Neo2-V and 1GB RAM stick, compatibility?

    Hi all,
I've just bought a new mainboard, the MSI 865PE Neo2-V... I read that supports up to 3GB of DDR333, so now I want to buy 2 new RAM modules.
    These modules has the specific:
     - 184 memory pins
     - 1GB RAM
     - PC2700 DDR 333MHz
     - 2.5 Module
     - Non-ECC, Non-Parity
     - CAS latency 2.5
     - 128 x 64 High density
Can I mount these RAM on my motherboard? On the photo, the RAM has 16 chips of ram; it seems to be "High density" RAM.
    Thanks,
    Alessandro.

Romulus76, the answer is YES for the chipset; but NOT SURE for the BIOS. I must ask MSI.

  • Unable to detect Hyper Threading of CPU SL6WE 3.2 in MSI-865PE Neo2

Hi! I am new to this forum and need some help. I have just installed a  Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz Northwood SL6WE 478 800MHz/512k . I bought this on e-bay and understand that this cpu supports hyper threading. I have enabled hyper threading in the bios, but only see one cpu in Widows System Properties and only one cpu in Windows Task Manager. I had a 2.6 cpu installed previously, no hyper threading. My motherboard is an MSI-865PE Neo2 version 1.1, 2GB Ram ( 4x512 ?), Thermaltke TR2-430W power supply, Freezer 4 Arctic Cooler, Nvidia GeForce 6600, LG DVD RAM burner, 16x DVD ROM, WD 250 gig and an Hitachi 80 gig hard drive. I also used Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste (after using Arcticclean and Surface Purifier). Have I missed somethig? Would appreciate help in solving why I have no hyper threading.

    200 7-3-3-2.5 Ultra Turbo and 212 5-3-3-2.5 Ultra Turbo is a
no boot. Thinks ultra-turbo tries to set mem timings to
2-2-2-5 below 218FSB and my memory can't do that.
Turbo boots ok. Normal setting disabled PAT.
    200 2.5-3-3-7 Turbo PAT on    4.6GB/s
    200 2.5-3-3-7 Normal PAT off  4.2GB/s
    212 2.5-3-3-5 Turbo PAT on    4.8GB/s
    212 2.5-3-3-5 Normal Pat off   4.5GB/s
    Also tried 250 1:1, not prime95 stable
    250 2.5-3-3-7 Ultra-turbo        6GB/s
I think pat is disabled above 218FSB on
1:1 and 5:4 setting, but not on 4:5 setting.
You should get close to or above 6GB/s at
    1:1 250 3-3-3-5 bios overclocking.
Maybe something is running in the background
    stealing cpu power or something?
Well, you have to test some more, maybe a
    fresh windows setup will help?

  • MSI 865PE NEO2-V showing wrong RAM timings

    Hi
I have a MSI 865PE NEO2-V motherboard with Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 DDR-DIMM 2048MB Kit w/two matched CMX1024-3200C2 DIMMs now and try to put the timings of the RAM to 2-3-3-6 in the bios.
According to http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair...h_results.html it should work ok...but its not.
When i check the timings with CPU-Z it shows 3-4-4-8 instead.
    The SPD is 3-3-3-8.
I have checked so they are in Dual channel and i have put the RAM voltage to 2.75V after i tried with the default voltage, but to no avail.
To be extra certain i ran Everest Ultimate and it showed the exact timings.
The RAM run fine with StressPrime and Prime95 but i get bad results in SiSoft Sandras RAM benchmarks.
    What is going on????

    Hi
    Yeah, it get slow results.
    I have a Intel Prescott 3.2Ghz with FSB800.
I see now that the link uses Java script, its in Corsairs search engine on their site.
    Their recomendations for the set of RAM i have is: TWINX2048-3200C2 / DDR-400 (XMS-3200C2) / 2-3-3-6 .
I have tried to set the timings as you said but it still runs at 3-4-4-8 whatever i set it at.
I have it running at 2-3-3-6 on another motherboard so i think it must be some settings in the BIOS that i set wrong on this one, but i cant figure it out.
Could it be that somethings wrong with the Performance Mode (MAT) settings?
I tried it on and off, I have also reseted the BIOS to default and even removed the CMOS battery for a while.
I paste all the info from the Corsair site here:

  • MSI 865pe neo2 problem with IDE2 slot

My MSI 865pe neo2 motherboard isn't recognizing any devices plugged into the IDE2 slot.  I originally thought it may have been the cable (I used an old cable pulled from my P3), but even with a new IDE cable nothing gets recognized.  Is there some trick I'm missing, or maybe is the slot broken?  Would updating the BIOS do anything?  Any help appreciated.
    P4 2.4 800fsb
512mb ddr pc3200 (corsair valueselect ram)
    msi fx5200 td128 video card

Thank you very much, that was it.  I'm not very familiar with working with BIOS so I wouldn't have even known to look for that until you mentioned it, then I took a look in the bios section of the motherboard's manual, and saw it under the integrated peripherals section under On-Chip IDE Configuration.  It was set on P-ATA + S-ATA, so I changed it to P-ATA Only and it worked like a charm.
One further question-  if I later on buy a S-ATA hard drive, would I need to change this setting again?  Would I have to give up the IDE2 slot to use an S-ATA connection?
    Thanks again!

  • What is the max supported CPU for MSI 865PE-NEO2-LS?

Can someone please tell me what is the max supported CPU speed for the MSI 865PE-NEO2-LS?  I have a P4 2.8@800Mhz, but was told that with a BIOS upgrade this motherboard can achieve up to 3.2?  Is that right, or can it support higher speeds such as the 3.4+
    Thank you!

    Hello,
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_cpu_support_detail.php?UID=433&kind=1
I think A6728IMS.210 means BIOS 2.1 so it may already work with the 3.2Ghz CPU.

  • Corsair XMS 3500 + MSI 865PE Neo2 = :(

I have no clue what to do now. I just upgraded my 2500+ Barton and Nforce2 board. I ordered a MSI 865PE Neo2-s , 2 sticks of Corsair XMS 3500 memory and a P4 2.4c.
However, when I install the memory, it refuses to post, but with PC2100 memory (@266 ) it posts and continues to run windows. I manually set the timings for the corsair memory, and set it to 333. Nothing.
This board has the orginial 1.0 bios and I was thinking of trying the 1.1 or 1.2. Other wise I will have to get another board, and I am tight on cash, after buying all this stuff.
    Anyone????

@TS, you can flash to 1.3 but i doubt it would do you any good.
