  • Best BIOS settings for Kt3 Ultra2 and Geforce4?

    Hi,
Can someone tell me what the best BIOS settings would be for my KT3 Ultra2 running a Geforce4 ti4200?
I get crappy scores in 3dMark2001 SE and I have the infamous stuttering/crashing problems in 3D games.  I've tried pretty much every configuration of settings and drivers I can think of.
I saw on these forums that the Kt3 Ultra2 can be a bit fussy with GF4 cards.  If someone could post the best BIOS settings for performance and stability I'd be eternally grateful.
Alternatively, email me at [email protected] with them.
    Thanks in advance

  • Best BIOS settings for K8N?

Can people post up their BIOS settings and give any tips? It'd be good to know how the ones having luck with the board are running them

Are you talking about settings for overclocking? Or just settings in general?

  • K7N2 Delta2 Platinum Bios settings help please

Please forgive me if I seem a bit stupid, but we all have to start somewhere.
As you can see from my signature although an old socket A set-up this should still perform pretty well when my son plays his games (Age of Empires 3) but the dam thing keeps crashing (back to the desktop) and performace is not what it should be.
I built the pc my self so I am ok to fiddle about with things but I am not as knowalgable as most people on this forum, So I would like someone to help me with some BIOS settings on this board, can anyone recommend some settings that would work well.

Having now read the excellent post by klondike on this board I want to update my bios to the 11.50 (B50) version.
I know about all the dangers of updating your bios but as I am having prob’s with my board and it seems like the B5 bios is better that the B4, I want to update it but I have tried now for 2 hours to update it and I am obviously doing something very wrong and it is doing my head in!
I have read the MSI guide to bios updating and others on this forum but I can’t get anything to even start to work.
I have downloaded and un-zipped the B50 bios update for my board. I have put the unzipped files in a folder in the C: drive I have named “test” I have made a dos floppy and set my bios to 1st boot floppy but when I boot to it at the A prompt you type C: (and enter) and it says bad file or command (I can’t remember which) so I then tried burning the bios files to a cd and once again after booting to the dos there is no option to get it to boot or find the cd drive you just get the A: prompt
I have also tried updating it though live update but live update says the latest version is 11.4 (B4) and that is what my board already has so I can’t update it from there as MSI have not updated their live update page.
I am almost at my wits end and feel like setting light to the dam thing, all I want to do is up date my bios its not that hard I have done it before on other pc’s but I can’t remember how I did it! (thats my age)
Please can someone spare me a few minutes to talk me though this.

  • P35 & E6850 bios settings Help

    MSI P35 Platinum board. Core2 E6850.  ATi Saphire HD 2900 XT. 8GB DDR2 Patriot 800mhz (5-5-5-12),2v. Silencer 750w Quad Crossfire Power Supply Single rail +12v @ 60a.
XP Pro SP2. This is what I have just built. But I am having problems with the bios settings & dont know enough about them to manualy set them. Can any one tell me the basic settings to make it run stable? The only change I have made is set the memory voltage to 2v & unistalled the overclock software that came with the board because that realy upset things.

8GBs with XP SP2 is a bad start...
    Install a 64-bit OS to use >4GBs.
What RAM modules do you have? Brand, model etc? List components more specifically.

Here is a good guide for your Bios settings :
    http://www.amdforums.com/showindex.php?s=&threadid=186506
Your temps should be somewhere in the low 30's C idle and somewhere under 40C under load. That would be an average but not an absolute. I run 27 to 29C idle and in the mid 30's under full load.
    Thank You!

  • 875P Neo FIS2R drive& bios settings help!!

    Greetings guys.
    Newbie here?
Would someone be so kind as to help me set up the following, using W2K as OS on the 875P Neo FIS2R board with P4 3.06 processor 2x512mb ram with a radeon 9700 and onboard sound, all the drivers etc are installed from the CD but am still using bios V1.2, not flashed it yet.......
I want my set up to be the following but I am having problems getting all my drives on the right chipsets.
IDE1= 1x120gb WD drive and 1x60gb drive for storage
    IDE2= Sony DVDR
ICH5R to be 2x37gb WD SATA individual drive not raided on ser 1&2
Promise to be 2x37gb WD SATA as raid 0 for my OS
but I cannot work out the Bios settings and how to acheive what I want, assuming it is possible to do it this way.
Yes I know the quantity of drives is OTT but I did a good deal with a local shop in exchange for the 4x37gb SATA HDD's
Please make it simple, it takes ages to sink into my head...

make sure the "AS raid" option is enabled in BIOS under intergrated peripherals then on-chip conf.
that should handel the promise controller.
then you will need to read the manual to manually set each conf listed.
    pg 3-24
    these settings may do it:
    ATA config set to P-ATA+S-ATA
    S-ATA set to enable
    P-ATA set to yes
    P-ATA set to Both
Combined mode depends on where you install OS: suggest SATA
if that, then S-ATA 1st ch.
    S-ATA RAID set to no
    try this,let me know

  • Best Bios Settings for stability/performance on Neo2 Platinum?

My sys has been running for several days and has cut off twice.  Wondered if any of my settings in Bios could be responsible.  Before getting to the general questions about the Bios, wanted to ask for answers to questions generated after running Sis Sandra Lite.
    1.  SMBios/DMI info may be inaccurate
    2.  Check vCore settings.  vCore less than rated minimum
    3.  Check to see if Bios is being shadowed
    My responses to the above:
    1.  Don't know what to do
    2.  Cool 'N Quiet says my vCore is 1.06, but the BIOS says 1.45.  What's up?
    3.  In Bios I have "system bios cacheable" enabled, so doesn't that take care of shadowing?
I've been spending a lot of time in the Bios and realize there are several things that I have left at default because I don't know what the #@!* they are.  Can anyone give suggestions on best choices for these settings:
    1.  Advanced Bios Features:
         Gate A20=Fast (Other Options=Normal)
         APIC Function=Enabled (Disabled)
         MPS Table Version=1.4 (1.1)
    2.  Advanced Chipset Features
         AGP Aperture Size=128 (32,64,256,512)
         AGP Fastwrite=Enabled (Disabled)
    3.  Onboard I/O Chip Setup
         EPP Mode Select= EPP1.7 (EPP1.9)
         ECP Mode USE DMA=3 (1)
    4.  Power Management
         Sleep State=S1(POS)  (S3(STR))
Video Off Method=DPMS Support (Blank Screen, V/H Sync+Blank)
    5.  Cell Menu
         High Performance Mode= Manual (Optimized)
         Spread Spectrum=Enabled (Disabled)
         Adjust AGP Frequency=66 (67, 68, ...73)
         Adjust CPU VID=startup (1.4,1.425,1.450 ...1.550)
         Adjust CPU Ratio=startup (4, 4.5, 5, ...7)
    In general:
Voltages stable in CNQ & Bios
    CPU Temps=low 40's
Sis Sandra and Performance Test, based on Prime95, didn't ring any bells about my memory.  I downloaded mem86, but don't know how to use it.  Any advice, does it run under Windows?
I'm throwing a lot of stuff at you, but i would appreciate any and all advice.

    Quote
    1.  Parallel Port=SPP.  Do you recommend this instead of EPP/ECP?
Sorry don't use it so can't help Leave on default i would guess
    Quote
    2.  Spread Spectrum=Disabled  What does it do and why is it better disabled?
see [ur=https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=54798.0l]The Complete Guide to Spread Spectrum  [/url] If you go into the cell menu & watch the spread spectrum whilst you increase saty the FSB from 200 you will see spread spectrum turn itself off. So to some extent you can leave it to look after itself. But there have been occasions when disabling it has helped stability.

    3.  Why does Cool 'N Quiet report such a different vCore (1.06) from the Bios (1.45)? It also reports 201 Mhz X 5 = 1004Mhz.  In the Bios the Front Side Bus is 200
Do you mean CoreCentre with Cool'n'Quiet enabled ?? Another Good Read  Cool 'n' Quiet FAQ The 201 instead of 200 is normal

  • Help finding the Best BIOS settings for P67A-C45 (2)

    Hello again folks
I Have a P67A-C45 board with an Intel i5 [email protected] and 8Ghz DDR3@1600 of memory
I just want to know what are the best setiings to my system. I'm planning to make an overclock, but i don't know much about these.
My ram are at 1333 MHz. What's the problem????

    Quote
My ram are at 1333 MHz. What's the problem?
Your CPU only natively supports up to 1333mhz memory. Your memory sticks, although rated to run up to DDR3-1600 speed, are only natively DDR3-1333.
Hence, if you have not applied any overclocks, and are running at default settings, the BIOS is reading the default native SPD setting for your memory, which will be DDR3-1333 settings. So no, there is no problem really. In order to run your sticks at their rated setting, you will need to overclock.
But, you might want to have a read of this:

  • Best BIOS Settings for Performace?

    Hi Guys,
I am new to all this PC stuff, i was a mac user for the last 8 years. At the moment i am learning all this stuff on the Bios - can anybody help me out give me the best settings for my PC (without overclocking)? I understand if i disable cool n quiet - i will get better performance.
    my info:
    AMD 64 3200+
    K8T Neo FIS2R Mainboard
    2 x 512MB DDR400 (1 gig totalling) Kingston
    9600XT Bravo (powercolor) 128MB
    550W Antec True Power Supply
    TT Venus 12 CPU Fan
    Idle - 36 - 37c
    Full load - 41 - 45c
I ran the 3dmark03 (demo) and the score came up 4005 - i am not sure if this result is how it should be but i really think its slow compared to my mate's 2600 XP running 9700pro and getting a score of around 5500.
    Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated.

3dMark03 is very GPU-demanding, and your mate's 9700pro is a faster card then your 9600XT.
Try runing 3dMark01 and it whill test the hole system more or less.
About biossettings I'm to new to A64 to give any suggestions, but memory timing have big effekt on preformens.

  • Best bios settings for K8T Neo + Athlon 64 3200+ + ATI 9700 Pro ?

Hi, i just got my k8T Neo (MS-6702) and can't figure out the best/most stable settings in the bios for my system yet. I am mainly using my computer for GAMES, so this is what i am talking about when i say "optimization"
I got an ATI 9700 Pro, an Athlon 64 3200+ and 2x512 mb of Kingston Value Ram (bank 1 and 2).
The main settings i really don't know how to set are:
    -Internal Cache
    -External Cache
    -System Bios Cacheable
    -C000, 32k Shadow
    -MPS Revision
    -AGP Fastwrite
    -AGP Aperture Size
I wish i could get rid of any instability problems, i had a few crashes so far. Yet, i would like to set my system to get the most of my hardware in terms of speed.
Thanks in advance for your help guys !

    internal cache-on
    external cache-on
    system bios-disabe
    c shadow stuff-disable
agp fastwrite on unless you have problems, you'll know fast
agp apperature size..depends on sys ram if over 512 best to atleast 128, if not 256
(official recomadation is 1/2 your system ram)
disable any onboard stuff you dont use like sound, sata controlers,
    quick boot enable. smart enable
logo disable, floppy drive seek disable,
i wouldnt mess with mps table version.
power management to s3 usb wake enable..power management agm-disable
suspend time-disable-...set wakeup events hit enter, choose kbc & or mouse.
    that should get you started.

  • Best Bios settings for my new rig

    Hi there
I have just put a new rig together & at the risk of soundin like a newb am a little stuck with the Bios. Am used to Intel chips, haven't had an AMD in a long time. At the moment everything is set to optimised defaults. Am not looking to overclock it with any voltage increase. Any safe basic recommendatios would be welcome.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    MSI 890FXA-GD70 890FX Socket AM3
AMD Phenom II X6 Black Edition 1090T
    Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Memory Kit
    Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50
Corsair CWCH50-1 Cooling Hydro Series H50
    Xenta 800W Modular Fan PSU
    Crucial 64GB Real SSD C300
    Sapphire HD 6870

At stock voltage OC should be up to 3.5GHz or so, barely enough to really make much difference in performance in my opinion. I really don't notice much performance increase until OC of 400-500MHz or so. I would suggest a slight voltage increase to 1.35V & try OC to 3.6 or a little more. There's also plenty of available info if you search the web for OC on it. Here's one:  http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/processors/AMD_Phenom_II_X6_1090T_15.html
