MSI 870a Fuzion

Hello, I currently just got this new Mobo, and am having trouble with my SLI and how to get it set up.
I have two nvidia GTS 250
one problem is that when I open nvidia control panel, i dont have the option to " Set SLI and PHYSX" it only have the physx portion.
also when I go into the bios I see nothing to enable the SLI option.
the mobo is running with the new "hydralogix"  I was wondering what i need to do, to use both my nvidia graphics cards.
anyways if someone could get back to me asap and give me a hand that would be great.  thank you!
Josh

Fuzion Multi-GPU Mode is actually not the same as SLI.  The effect will be similar, but it is really not the same:

after shutdown and installation of OS
i attempt to troublkeshoot the issue of bios time, IDE, and no hard drive detected

  • MOVED: 1055t and a MSI 870A Fuzion AMD 770

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=142419.0

You are trying to run XMP profile memory which is meant for Intel systems and not AMD. Courtesy of Hardware Canucks, the explanation is a s follows:
    Quote
By now, we should all be used to Intel’s Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP) which basically sets aside a pre-selected space within memory modules for specific SPD profiles. This benefits everyone from overclockers to novices as it gives them pre-defined values for specific usage scenarios.
Following in Intel’s footsteps, AMD has now introduced Black Edition Memory Profiles or BEMP. While BEMP certainly doesn’t have a particularly sexy ring to it like XMP, its functionality is virtually the same and can be controlled directly by the user. One of the main differences between XMP and BEMP is the way profiles are stored; XMP uses a portion of unallocated space within the modules themselves, AMD’s solution uses online profiles for the memory. This allows for the memory manufacturers to add additional profiles once their products have shipped but it also means BEMP is tied at the hip to AMD’s Windows-specific Overdrive utility. Once set up properly, these memory modules will effectively increase memory frequency, lower timings and bump the Northbridge frequency for additional performance.
You can try and manually find memory settings that will work, but I shall refrain from guaranteeing stability.
For a start I would use only one module and set the DRAM ratio manually so that your mem runs at 1066. Suggested timings as per the JEDEC#2, i.e 8.8.8.22. You should be OK with the CR at 1 at 1066 but you may have to change that to 2. Start your OC attempts from there and let the mem gradually increase as you increase your FSB/HTlink. Once your mem gets closer to 1333 change the timings to 9.9.9.24 as per JEDEC#3. You can also use those timings right from the start to avoid any instabilities as the DRAM freq increases from 1066 to 1333.

i wouldnt suspect the PSU at all as Corsair units are good and has more then enougth power for the Graphics Card!
could be bios related! as a test install the HD4850 and enter bios and load optimized defaults and save setting and exit! turn the computer off and put the HD 6870 back in! that might fix it?
also test the card in another system as it may be just a faulty Graphics card!

  • 870a fuzion sli?

    Hi,
Ive read on several sites that the new 870A Fuzion Power Edition can handle SLI.
But on the MSi webpage it says "Y" to crossfire and "N/A" to SLI.
So can someone please answer what to believe?
If i buy that motherboard, will it handle geforce graphic cards and the possibiliy to SLI connect them?
Or is that motherboard locked to radeon graphic cards?

    Hi,
the AMD 870A Chipset does not natively support SLI, however, the whole point of the "Fuzion" Technology is to enable every(!) type of multi-GPU configurations (including ATI+ATI, NVIDIA+NVIDIA, ATI+NVIDIA & NVIDIA + ATI).  Linking two NVIDIA Cards via the Fuzion Technology (Lucid® LT22102 Chipset) is not the same as SLI in the strict sense, but it will have the same effect.

  • MSI 870a-G54 Hard drive problem.

About a week ago i reinstalled Windows because it started to slow down (virusses and what not) And as soon as i reinstalled everything (programs games etc etc) One of my harddrives used for games did not show up at the bios and at My computer.
So this entire week i've been trying to get it to work again and i've narrowed down the problem today to the BIOS and/or motherboard not giving the power to the HDD in order for it to start and be recognized in BIOS and Windows.
What ive done to come to this conclusion:
    - Reinstalled Windows twice,
    - Replaced CMOS Battery,
    - Flashed the BIOS to every BIOS setting the MSI website had to offer. None worked for the HDD to get powered up again.
    - Moved CMOS jumper,
    - Changed SATA and powercables on harddrive,
    - Tried the HDD on another test PC i had and reformatted it there as well,
    - Only hooked up the not working HDD to the PC, (HDD did not spin up, and came to the conclusion at this point that motherboard or BIOS is the culprit)
    - Unplugged the powercable to the not working HDD and plugged it back in when the PC was running and i could feel it spinning up, after this i restarted the PC so that the HDD would still get power and it was recognized by the BIOS and Windows and i could use it. As soon as i shut down the PC entirely and restarted it the HDD would not spin up. And i had to unplug power to the HDD and plug it in again and restart PC for it to work properly.
    - Checked for bad sectors nothing found,
Everything else is working perfectly. Except that one HDD not getting the power when booting up the PC.
The HDD in question is the "Samsung HD502HJ 500gig" used for Steam games.
    PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black edition. Put on a new CPU cooler last summer (Cooler master Hyper 212 Plus)
    Mobo: MSI 870a-G54
PSU: Antec EarthWatts EA650 (650 Watts)
Graphics card: Powercolor PCS+ HD5870 Put on a custom cooler last summer (Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 5870)
    RAM: Kingston ValueRam 1333Mhz DDR3 (8gigs 4x 2gig) Bought 4 gigs extra last summer
HDD1: Seagate ST3160812 AS 160gig used for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (Works perfectly)
HDD2: Samsung HD204UI 2TB used for Storage / Other games than i have on Steam. (works perfectly) Bought last summer with the cooling/system upgrade
HDD3: Samsung HD502HJ 500gig used for Steam games. (Does not work anymore after reinstal) Bought 2 years ago along with the rest of the PC
I am completely at a loss here as to what the problem is. I do not have the funds to buy a new piece of hardware at this time (i think the entire week of struggle would back that up for me lol...). And ive basically tried everything what i know and what i've found through Google and friends. Might have been better going straight to MSI forum and post my problem here but narrowing it down to this not only helps me but the person that is going to post below in this thread as well lol.
Thanks in advance and i hope to hear from anyone soon.

Try drive in different PC, as it looks like it died.
HDD's always spinup as soon as power is applied, ergo I think the drive died.
Ive tried it already in 2 different PC's and i have to apologize here for not mentioning that earlier in the topic.
The drive spins up perfectly in both of those PC's and ive checked for bad sectors on both of those PC's as well and it showed that the drive was 100% healthy on both PC's
The drive was working perfectly fine before the reinstallation of windows. Thats why i dont think the drive has died. Because it would be weird that the drive just suddenly gave up right when im reinstalling windows..
It also doesnt add up when i plug the powercable back into the drive while the PC is running and it spins up then and works perfectly until PC is shut down. Thats why i had it narrowed down to the BIOS and/or Motherboard being the culprit.
My best guess is that its software related because the PC does boot up so its not a hardware problem.
    P.S.
A friend of mine said that it could be a powersaving issue. But ive looked into the BIOS and i could not find anything about it.

  • 870A Fuzion Power has problem with keyboard and mouse movement only in games.

    Hey guys,
recently built a new system and chose to go with the 870A Fuzion Power mainboard, everything has gone very smoothly execpt for one problem, only when I play games like Crysis 2 ect the mouse seems to jolt around now and again and the keyboard decides to stop responding if I hold down the movement keys, and this is only in game not surfing the web for example. Now, I am using a wireless mouse and keyboard but I plugged in a PS/2 keyboard and the exact same thing happened. I've installed all of the drivers that came with this board and the drivers for the mouse and keyboard. Any of you guys ever had this sort of problem or know how to fix this?
    Thanks.

I bought a new Macbook pro in june 2010, I didn't have any keyboard or mouse issues prior to upgrading to 10.6.4 supposedly this update was made to fix some issues with keyboard and mouse becoming unresponsive. For me the opposite happened. after the upgrade, my keyboard and mouse (trackpad) becomes sometimes partially unresponsive or totally unresponsive. the only way to solve the problem is by completely turning of the computer and turning back on.. granted it doesn't happen very often.. generally once every about 2-3 weeks but it is still annoying though..
I didn't have a chance to use the computer too much on the previous version (10.6.3) so I don't know if it is software related or hardware related.. any thoughts?

  • MSI 870A-G54 Blue Screen & Corruption Issues in Windows 7 64-bit

I am having periodic blue screen and corruption issues in Winodws 7 64-bit with my MSI 870A-G54 system.  I have a Phenom II X2 560 BE processor, 2 4GB DDR 1333 DIMMs (first bank - unganged), 2 2GB DDR3 1333 DIMMs (2nd bank - unganged), 2 Hitachi 1TB 32MB Cache HDD's in a RAID 0 array, two Galaxy PCIe2.0 GT9500's, 550w power supply, internal DVD drive, and 1 1TB Seagate external 3.0 USB drive.  After I load all the supplementary drivers from the MSI site (ensuring I use the 64bit versions), my system becomes unstable.  I even tried the new motherboard chipset drivers from AMD (10.12).  I am running the latest firmware as well (17.7).  The system in not overclocked in any manner and I experience the same results with fail-safe and optimized settings.
I have tried isolating the issue after loading each driver, but due to the random nature of the issue, I am not having success.  I have also performed memory and CPU tests that report no errors.  Any ideas?

  • 870A Fuzion AMD 770 ram 1600mhz (non oc)..HELP..!!

hi there,,wanna ask about my board 870a fuzion amd,,caanot archive speed 1600mhz if i use it ,only detect 667mhz only..,but the spec say this board only use 1333mhz is the maximum but can oc to 1600mhz..........im using crucial ballistix tracer 1600 ram...please helpp.....someone...

You might be able to get the ram to run at 1600 by doing the following: go into bios(pres  "delete" key when booting) got to "cell menu"
go to "FSB/DRAM RATIO", Set to "1:4". You might have to change timings to crucial specs. save and exit. That SHOULD bring you ram to 1600.
Bas is right that current AMD chips do not NATIVELY support ram speeds over 1333, which IS overclocking. I have my supertalent 1333 ram at 1600 with NO issues at all. your milage may vary. You should also post your system specs like in our sigs below our posts. VERRY IMPORTANT. See posting guides please.

  • 870a fuzion atx 6pin power connection

Can anyone help me with my new 870a fuzion board im setting up. It has the 8 pin cpu atx which plugs in no problems. But than it also has this 6 pin atx connection to the motherboard it says for the videocard. My power supply has no 6 pin atx connection (does a 6 pin mobo connection even exist). Im assuming i just connect one off my PCI-E 6 pins to the motherboard it fits in no drama. Or do i put my other 8 pin atx connection in an leave 2 pins hanging out. Is this correct first pc ive built in a few years.

  • MSI P55A Fuzion Memory problem

I have a problem that i am trying to solve so I need your help.
My motherboard MSI P55A Fuzion detects memory 12 GB  Kingmax (2x4GB DDR 3 1600 and 2x2GB DDR3 1600) but my OS is showing 1g GB but 6GB usable memory.
I have googled a couple of topics on that subject but haven't really found the solution.
BIOS version is 1.20, my operating system is a windows 7 64 bit that supports more than 4 GB
I also tried stacking the memory one by one and with 3 sticks i could get a 10 GB full.
I don't think it's an OS issue since i checked out max memory in advance boot options.
Please help me out, it's really getting on my nerves
    Thanks in advance.

Mixing memory is the way to make sure you are running into problems. While using four sticks is already maxing stress for the ram controller you are also mixing capacities and different ram srticks. Get a proper matched kit and it will work.

  • MSI 870A-G54 (FX) CPU Core control unlock setting error

    Hello,
My motherboard MSI 870A-G54 (FX) has strange issue: CPU Core unlock option is not working properly. I've switched in BIOS  Cell Menu the setting "CPU Core Control" - Enabled, and after the restart, there is error message about RAM chek - till 3325 MB instead 16 GB, and after that windows7 Ultimate x64 tries to load, but unfortunately displays the Blue Screen of Death. After disabling CPU Core Control option windows start normaly. Also after using MSI LiveUpdate5 and installing BIOS Code unlock Technology 1.0.106, I got the following message: Error Message
    PC Hardware details:

I'll be glad to have some of your ideas how to handle it...

I also have an X3 720BE. Mine will not unlock, some do not... it's not a built in feature on 'All' CPU's.
That said.. I have owned mine since the beginning of AM3. It has been a great CPU with 3 cores. I have had OC settings at or above 3.4GHz stable.
If you search you can find a lot of OC information. This was an early release AM3, and a lot of owners, forums, test websites etc.. have information available. I still use it in my HTPC.
Owners who have been able to 'unlock' thier CPU's do get extra core(s).. but it's not as stable. I would rather have a stable, able to OC CPU than an unlocked one that can't obtain the OC stable numbers. It's a mind game.
    Good Luck
