MSI 875 Pro Neo FIS2R - HDD-LED doesn`t work

Hello,
yesterday I got my new MSI 875 Pro Neo FIS2R.
Installation of motherboard and Windows XP went without any problem. So I`m very satisfied with this Board.
But now I noticed, that the HDD-LED doesn`t show any activity.
Then I turned around the HDD-LED plug of the Case with again no success: The HDD-LED doesn`t shine...
My (IDE-)storage-components are:
Primary Master: NEC DVD-ROM
Primary Slave: NEC DVD-RW
2 x WD Raptor (SATA) as RAID0 (ICH5R)
Is there anything wrong ? What can I do ??

I already tried turning around the cable, but it didn`t help.
Therefore I was asking myself, why the HDD-LED didn`t show any LED activities at all (DVD-ROM should work)...

I truly wonder have you read my reply?
Hello Maesus,
yes, I read your reply. But it didn`t answer my question, why HDD-LED don`t show any DVD-ROM activities (remember, DVD-ROM is IDE-primary master and DVD-RW is primary slave)...

  • The HDD LED doesn't work !! Any Idea ?

    Hi everyone ..
I have MSI Neo Platinum Mainboard , I installed a S-ATA Harddisk only on the Mainboard , no ATA , but the HDD LED on the Case doesn't work .. There is no Light ... Is this light only for ATA Harddisks wich are installed on IDE ??
    Any idea plz ?

Exactly...reverse the polarity at the connection....or your HDD activity LED is toast...I've bought new cases where those things just did not work.

  • HDD LED doesn't work with SATA?

I just built this system last week and installed a Maxtor 160GB SATA drive and the led on the case doesn't light up when the HDD is in use. Is this a board problem or SATA problem?

Likely because it's a not self contained and/or it's game and copy protected, so install it via the developers instructions instead, which likely means it will have ot be uninstalled off the first machine, the developer contacted for a new license key before installing on the newer machine.
If you want it on both machines, you will need to likely buy another license.
Most developers are fine with transfering license between machines, you have to contact them.
They just want to make sure it's only on one machine so they are not getting robbed.

  • MSI X58 Pro: HDD LED does not work for S-ATA drive

    Hi,
I've got a problem with my brand new MSI X58 Pro: I've got an S-ATA HDD (Samsung 640GB) and an S-ATA DVD drive (Pioneer) installed in a Compucase 6X Miditower. There is NO(!) IDE drive. I don't get the HDD LED to work! I've tried everything including a BIOS update to 7.1 - the LED stays out.
I found some reports in the internet from people having a similar problem: no HDD LED for S-ATA drive activity.
Is there anybody else having this problem? Isn't that possible in general? Is that a problem of the board? The HDD drive?
    Greetings,
    Michael

You are talking about the status LED on your case, right?
    - Is it properly connected to the right pins on the correct header?
    - Double-check for +/- pins and make sure the plug is not connected the wrong way.
    - Make sure, the LED is not defective.
    - Make sure the cables are not defective.
    - Make sure there is no problem with the pin-plug to the board.

  • NEO FIS2R Power LED Connections

Why does my new neo fis2r board have two separate power led connections? User manual for this MS-6702 board shows pins 2 & 4 of JFP1 and pins 1,3,5 of JFP2 with power led connections. My new Chieftec case only has one power led cable. What is the difference between the two connectors apart from one having 3 pins and the other two?

Yes I noticed that with my MB too.  The two pin connectors are indicated as for MSG LED, and the 3 pin are for S/P LED.  Perhaps those are two different kind of power LED's.  In any case, it would seem logical to just connect your case to either the two or three pin connectors depending on whether your case leads have two or three connectors.  At least that is what I did.

  • Display replaced...but iSight led doesn't work

I've a Macbook Pro (June '07) on which i've totally repleaced the display. They (the apple support) have mounted the new MacBook Pro display (Feb '08), that is as the old one, but with only one difference: http://nobi.com/nobilog/archives/001795.html
Now if i use my integrated iSight the green led doesn't turn on. Is this an internal cable-connection issue or does the led work just with the new MacBook Pros?

    Hello Marco
Try the suggestions in Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.
Regardless of whether you can see a green led, if your built-in iSight does not work (meaning you can see a picture from your iSight) with any app in any user account, the repair job is not finished. Contact the people who worked on your Mac and ask them to correct the problem or credit you for what you paid for the part of the work that was not completed.
If your iSight works but you cannot see the green LED, you can decide whether a return trip to get the led working is worthwhile to you. I probably wouldn't bother, but you might want to have it made right. The most meaningful reason I can imagine to take it back ONLY for an LED fix is that a working LED might be important to someone to whom you consider selling your Mac at some future time.

  • When I move a harddrive with Bootcamp from my mac pro to my macbook, windows doesn't work

I have a 13" Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook and the topcase-keyboard doesn't work and so for some reason, it makes it impossible for me to install windows on the bootcamp partition. While the windows installer is running, it doesn't recognize usb keyboards. So I decided to install windows 7 professional on that same drive using my Mac Pro. The installation worked perfectly.
Then I take that harddrive and I move it back to my MacBook and windows won't start up correctly, stating that something has changed (of course!...duh).
Can anyone help me with a workaround for this?
Has anyone had similar problems moving a windows partition in bootcamp from one mac to another?
How can I install windows on a MacBook without a working topcase?
I've posted this question to the Snow Leopard community because that's the OS I'm using.

With the Lion it is essentially unnecessary to resort to external driver disks. What's more, most of those disks are incompatible with the OS and should not be used. The system already carries a wide variety of printer description files (aka PPDs, which is what modern printing systems use as "drivers") for a lot of brands. And there was an HP printer update just two days ago.
Just checked in mine and did indeed find that the HP OfficeJet 6200 Series, with or without Fax, is covered with the latest update.
So just go thru the motions of creating a proper printer instance:
Make sure the Mac "sees" the printer on the network.
System Preferences / Print & Scan
Click on the + button on the left column
Select the appropriate type of printer, will use IP for the rest of this
Select HP Jetdirect - Socket, default for HP network printers
Type the IP address or look it up
Name the printer for easy identification on the print dialog
Let the Mac identify the printer model or manually choose the driver
    Click Add.
Once the instance pops up in the list, can click on Options & Supplies for further config.

  • Brand new Mac Pro.. CD DRIVE DOESN'T WORK!

I just set up my new Mac Pro yesterday, and the cd/dvd drive doesn't work. It worked once, when I was installing a printer, but it made a really bad noise, and now whenever I put any cd or dvd in, it doesn't even recognize it or react.
I don't know what to do.
I know I have a warranty so somebody from apple should be able to help me, but I can't even reach anybody on the customer support phone number.
Does anybody know a way to fix this?

Try depressing the SMC RESET button for 10 seconds, small round button under drive #4 in the rear (with unit unplugged).

  • Satellite L50-A-10Q: Win8.1 Pro Wi-Fi status LED is not working

    Hello,
I have an Toshiba L50-10-A-10Q Notebook running BIOS Version 1.30 and EC Version 1.10.
I recently updated from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 Pro.
I followed the update instructions found on the Driver Download page.
All function keys and modules (Wifi, Bluetooth, etc.) work fine.
However, the status LEDs do not work properly.
The status LED for Wifi is always off, even when Wifi is activated and connected.
The status LED for the Touch Pad is also always off, even when it is deactivated.
Power LED and charge indicator work fine.
All status LED were working properly before the update to WIN 8.1.
Is there a solution for this problem?
    Kind Regards
    Niko

Why you dont try to update or reinstall the Intel WLan driver and Toshiba System Driver again?
Since this procedure helped to solve the touchpad issue and I guess this would solve problem with the WLan indicator too.

  • HDD PCB doesn't work anymore MK 5059 GSX

    Hi all,
I'm looking for a solution I've an external drive where was a
    MK5059GSX
    500 GB
The drive doesn't work anymore after less than 5 months.
It's seems to be that the PCB out is.
I'm looking for the same parts for this dirve because there is 190 GB important data.
Here are the reference of HDD and PCB
    Thanks for any help
    Model MK5059GSX
    HDD2H92 Z ZK01 T
    PCB :
    Up ref G002641A
    Down ref MDK 339V-0W
    Sticker IF103BYU4

I would consider a drive service company. They have a great success rate at retrieving data, but typically you lose the hard drive since they had to disassemble it and the costs are in the hundreds of dollars.
Other thought is to go online and see if the hard drive is available from E-bay or some other vendor and cannibalize the parts.
Hard drives are pretty specialized and I don't see manufacturers selling the parts. Even the drive service companies need specialized tools and a clean room. Good luck in retrieving your files.

  • QT Pro Export for Web--poster doesn't work in Firefox or IE, only Safari

Hi QuickTime gurus (within Apple and in the 'real world
I had thought that when you Export for Web in QuickTime Player Pro, the 'poster' movie would display in all browsers, on Mac and Windows.
Unfortunately, the poster does NOT work in Firefox (neither Mac nor Windows) nor in IE. It only works in Safari.
    See this example - http://www.wellesley.edu/~kenny/a.html
Am I doing something wrong, or is there something wrong with the JavaScript such that it doesn't work in all browsers, or....?
    Thanks...k

    Ok here try this:
    http://setfreedenver.org/a/readme.html
And here's the zip file for the above.
    http://setfreedenver.org/a.zip
You should have four files in the folder that makes everything for the video in the html:
video.m4v This is the actual video that plays.
video.mov This is the referance video that points to video.m4v
poster.jpg This is the poster frame.
html.html This is the html for the above video to play in.
Move one of the above to somewhere else and it will break the video playing in the html.
    Sidebar:
I couldn't get this to work on my server. I had to go to my server control panel (somewhere out there in Texas) and make a MIME Type setting for the .m4v, so the video could play. Not all servers are setup to play different kinds of videos, documents or images. So, if you ever run across something that plays locally on your computer and not on your sever and your at your wits end.. Contact you server administrator and have them check the MINE setting on the server.

  • HDD Led does not work.

I recently got a case from a friend and prior to swapping all of my system to the new case I know the HDD led worked(we all look at it to verify HD activity right?).After swapping all to the new case(new to me but used) I hooked up my HDD connectors as were on my old box, with the only difference being this box has 3 possible HDD connectors lableled as HDD LED, I(one) and II(two). I have tried every freekin combo of plugging these in,reversing and so forth and at best I can get the ACTIVITY LED to come on as my system boots and thats it. Once to the desktop no activity from the light whatsoever. Upon seeing this I went to my old box and pulled the HHD connectors from it (1 cuz I knew they worked and 2 cuz they where that cool blue bright LEDS) tried running those and came up with the same results. This is minor but from a tech standpoint I can't stand when something is not right with my box. Any suggestions on what to look at or how to test this without going to Radioshack and buying another electronic device the wife may want to hurt me for buying?

If its anywhere near mine with lights it may not cover more then one light  just check the manual. 2nd  just plug in led hdd 1 and see if that works unplug that and put in hdd 2. that one thing that would be to see by my opinion to verify they both work.
    hope this helps:)

  • MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R HDD

I am unsure on which hdds to get for this mother board.  I want to run raid 0 but dont know if i have to get serial ata or can get ata/100 or, etc....?
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Right now, 80 GIG 8M Cache ATA100 / ATA133 drives can be had for about $1 for each GIG of storage, after rebates etc. The same spec drives with Serial ATA are going for about $1.60 for each GIG of storage.
That 60% premium is a consideration. You also should look around at the board reviews out there. A recent review by HardOCP had a comparison of SATA and PATA Raid 0 drives on both the Southbridge and Promise controller. The results were mixed. The PATA drives were faster at some things.
Of course the relative speeds could change with the next BIOS. For me, I went with a matched set of PATA drives and order a 875P board with a PATA Raid controller.
If you can afford to wait. As time passes, the SATA drive prices should converge on PATA prices.
    Have fun,
    LeRoy
