Hallo, i need some help with the memory diagnostics programm from microsoft. Because on my board it shows me errors, and now i want to know if it is my board or the programm.

    Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my msi 875p neo FIS2R and problems with the network controller driver/network card.
    I'm running xp on a computer my nextdoor neighbour gave me. I got it working fine  with service pack 3 installed but then installed a bunch of windows updates last night and the computer would switch itself off before windows could start. Now I reinstalled xp and unfortunately it does not recognise the network controller/card at all now. I tried installing the intel network controller drivers but it stopped because it said no intel adapter/card was installed/present. Could anyone please help with suggestions? I tried running everest and under newtwork it doesnt list intel network adapters but I'm pretty certain it is. Again any suggestions?

  • MSI 875P NEO FIS2R AGP problems

    I have just purchased an MSI 875P NEO FIS2R motherboard and there is a sticker covering the AGP slot which says "Please use only 1.5V AGP cards to avoid pernament damage to this mainboard". However, on the website it says here http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=434
    "One AGP slot supports 8x/4x at 0.8V (AGP 3.0) or 4x at 1.5V
      (3.3V is not supported)." I want to use 8x agp @ 0.8v and the website says this ok but the sticker on the AGP slot on the motherboard says only 1.5V. Is this a mistake on the website or on the Motherboard and is it possible for me to use 8x AGP @ 0.8V without damaging the motherboard?
    I want to use an ATI radeon 9800pro.
    Anybody using 8x agp @ 0.8V and have they have any problems?

  • New MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R, WinXP BSOD

    I just got and installed the MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R.  I have Libranet linux 2.8.1 which I can boot into (fast as heck too).  When I try to boot into window, I get a BSOD with nothing very descriptive in it except to try chkdsk /f.  I have tried playing with the various bios settings with no luck.  Is this an instance where I need to reinstall XP? :(

Do you. #2 Do you have BIOS option BOOT TO OTHER OS ENABLED? #3 There has been a lot of people having problems with FRESH WINDOWS XP INSTALL and CREATIVE AUDIGY CARDS! If you HAVE REINSTALL WINDOWS XP REMOVE SOUND CARD FIRST!! After you are done PLUG IN CARD, DO NOT USE NEW HARDWARE WIZARD. INSTALL DRIVERS MANUALLY.   • MSI 875P Neo FIS2R + 3.4 Ghz Prescott / Northwood?

    Hello.
    I looked a little around on these pages, but I couldn't find answers to my question.
    I have a MSI 875P NEO FIS2R, and BIOS version 1.8. Right now I'm using a 3.0 Ghz Processor, but I would like to upgrade to a slightly faster one. Can I upgrade to either a 3.4 Ghz Prescott or a Northwood 3.4 Ghz without updating my BIOS?
    I have seen so many on this forum failing to upgrade the BIOS and thus having a ruined MB
    I know there used to be a schematic that showed which processors the diferent BIOS'es could handle.
    -I hope someone can help me out.

    I can see that my signature hasn't been completly updated, but now I have 2048 MB Kingston memory.
    The reason I ask about the processor is, that I would like my PC to perform better in Microsoft Flightsimulator X, and they recommend a 3.6 Ghz processor or higher. But you don't think I'll notice the difference from a 3.0 Ghz to a 3.4 Ghz?
    I'm definately not upgrading to just 3.2 GHz, that would be foolish as you say.
    I have an additional question, if you don't mind:
    I'm also upgrading my GFX to a X1950 pro. But again, Microsoft recommends a 512 MB graphics card, but do you think that I should just go for a 256 MB, or should I get the 512 MB card? Will I notice the difference?

  • MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R support booting from USB devices?

    I am building a super computer using the MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R. I would like to either get a USB pen drive, or an external Floppy Disk Drive in place of an internal Floppy Disk Drive.
    Does anyone know if this board supports booting from a USB device?

    I ordered my board as well, however, they were out of stock and it may be as long as 2 weeks before they get more in. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get yours from? I am VERY much excited about getting this board as I only await the MB and CPU. What all are you putting in yours??

    Will be upgrading to liquid cooling in the future, that way when I am deployed the temps stay in the blue. (HOPEFULLY)

    How can I disable AGP Fast Write with the MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R ? I can't find an option for this in the BIOS !

    You wont usually find this option in most MB BIOSES , as the only Option that SOME BIOSES Have is the Option to enable, disable SBA (Side Band Addressing) for the AGP Bus....In order for you to Disable or Enable the FW, You Must have the Option in your Vidio Drivers Controll Panel.....If you have a NVIDIA Card, you Must go to  http://www.guru3d.com  And Download the program "NVHardpage" and then Open the Program and you wil have the Choice to Enable these options and they will then appear in your Vidio driver CP >> "Activate "Coolbitts" (this is NVIDIAS Overclocking Utility) Activate "Harware Options", and then Activate "AGP Options" and finally Activate "Performance Options"........If you have a ATI Card then you must Download one of thier "Tweeking Utilities".......I will Post the Direct "Link" for NVHardpage in a Minute, just say yes to the Lic.   • MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R/P4 2.4C/Corsair XMS 3200 Overclock Settings?

    Sorry to bother everyone.  I'm going to be switching out my Intel 865PERL cause it only offers a 4% overclock, so I'm barerely scratching 2.5Ghz.
    Plus, the funky lights on the MSI board will go nice with my all-red lit case.  Anyway, back to the matter at hand:
    All I've really been able to find online is information geared towards the 865 Neo-FIS2R model and overclocking, plus the stuff on the Corsair XMS PC3200 seems to all be posted prior to JEDEC approving the 3200 standard.  So all the overclock info is back when they were using the XMS 3200 with AMD processors and overclocking to reach 400FSB or a bit higher.
    I was hoping to get my 2.4C Ghz w/800mhz FSB up to a good 2.7Ghz, maybe even 3.0Ghz.  And I want to bump up my DDR as well (I assume I'll have to anyway, and lock my multipliers on the PCI and AGP ports?)  I have an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro All-In-Wonder.
    I wasn't sure what I should set the DDR to (I have 2x256MB modules that will run in dual-channel)
    I use Artic Silver III or 5 Thermal Paste, and I have six case fans (one top blowhole, one side window, two front intake, two rear pushing air out, plus PSU, CPU, northbridge, etc.)
    While I've built systems for quite a few years now, I'm fairly new to overclocking and wasn't sure where I should begin?  Thanks for any help with settings advice!  

    Alright, while I wait for the new memory to arrive, I decided to get a headstart on my first overclocking attempts.
    I installed the new PSU and set to work.  Here is where I ended up:
    BIOS SETTINGS
    DRAM=333mhz (underclocked 400mhz DDR)
    Spread Spectrum=Disabled
    CPU Clock=224
    AGP/PCI= 67.01/33.50
    CPU VCore = 1.5250V
    DDR Voltage= 2.50V
    AGP Voltage = 1.60V
    This setup is stable insofar as it gets my system to boot into windows.  I haven't done much else with it as of yet.
    If I try a 225 CPU Clock then my system won't boot and I have to clear the CMOS.  I tried this with my DDR at 266 and 333 (and it's 400mhz rated and has worked at the speed just fine before, so I don't think it's the Corsair XMS stuff)
    Do I need to increase the Voltage to my CPU in order for this to work or is there something else I'm missing?  I figured I should be able to get this 2.6 up to 3.0 easy, and was hoping to shoot for somewhere between 3.2 and 3.7 if possible.
    My CPU is labeled Malaysia, and I've heard those tend to overclock pretty well.  Inside my case the heatsink is cool to the touch, as are my hard drives.  Sound Card is a bit warm, but nothing crazy.  My ATI card is pretty hot though, although the increase from 66 to 67.01 on the AGP port shouldn't be too bad, and from what I recall this sucker was always hot anyway.

    I am really interested in this mobo - I've read the reviews on 7 different brands so far, and the MSI offering is in my mind "the duck's guts"!!
    I thought that I'd probably go the Asus prior to researching - no way - nasty setup if ya need a screwdriver to install a generic Intel HS&F!!
    The MSI takes the cake as far as desirable features goes, from what I've read to date.
    I have the money to get one of them, a 800Mhz FSB P4, and a Radeon 9800 Pro.............
    But................
    I'm in Australia.......
    We get the 1337 shite last on the shipping route, although we're closest geographically!!
    I need to know:
    1. Australian availability - distributers with actual stock!
    2. A few users' impressions of this mobo.
    3. er, the price (tho' if it's as good as it reads - who gives a fruck!!)
    4. Should I get the 2.4g, 2.8g, or 3.0g P4???
    5. Is there a particulat stepping to look for?
    6. Are they available in Australia?

    As you've probably guessed from my nick, I've been running AMD for quite some time - since the 1g/A7V133 days when they had the crown - it's been a downhill run since - just got rid of my XP2600+, after the 2nd Abit NF7-S's BIOS corrupted due to my 1g of Corsair XMS3500 - I mean, get stuffed! I'd already had to get a later revision.........3-4 days prior to them bringing out yet another revision!!

  • MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R HDD

    I am unsure on which hdds to get for this mother board.  I want to run raid 0 but dont know if i have to get serial ata or can get ata/100 or, etc....?
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Right now, 80 GIG 8M Cache ATA100 / ATA133 drives can be had for about $1 for each GIG of storage, after rebates etc. The same spec drives with Serial ATA are going for about $1.60 for each GIG of storage.
    That 60% premium is a consideration. You also should look around at the board reviews out there. A recent review by HardOCP had a comparison of SATA and PATA Raid 0 drives on both the Southbridge and Promise controller. The results were mixed. The PATA drives were faster at some things.
    Of course the relative speeds could change with the next BIOS. For me, I went with a matched set of PATA drives and order a 875P board with a PATA Raid controller.
    If you can afford to wait. As time passes, the SATA drive prices should converge on PATA prices.

    I have a very quite system, but the Northbridge fan is too loud ! In fact it is the loudest element in my system and I'd like to replace it.
    Which fans are there that I could use instead ?

  • Configure Raid 0 on MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R?

    Hi,
    I want Raid0 to work with windows xp pro.
    I have two non-formatted maxtor 120 gb sata drives.
    I set the Promise item in the bios to raid and the Intel item to sata + pata.
    While booting I went into the Promise settings by pressing ctrl+f. I set the drives as auto - performance. The array has been created and the program asks me to reboot.
    Now when I boot with the XP cd it says it can't find any drives. Hitting F6, to load the Promise drivers, doesn't work.  :(
    I figured to format the drives first. I booted from disk and tried fdisk. For some reason fdisk doesn't allow me to create a main partition of the whole lot, only 2 mb or something. When I do that it says I can make an extended partition of 240Gb (that, ofcourse, doesn't work)?
    Can someone explain me the right way to install xp with raid?

    Windows loaded correctly when the old hd was in the system.
    To be sure I did not do something stupid I checked the old hd for a fresh installment of xp  :D . Ofcourse the hd was stil blank.
    So what;s the case now:
    - I have installed xp on the raid configured drives
    - The raid drive is set as the first and only device to boot in the bios.
    - The bios does not show hd's, the raid drive only shows in the bootsequence.
    - I tried PATA + SATA and also SATA only
    - In the promise bios (ctrl + f) I checked whether the array is booteable, it is because it shows an * in front of the array.
    The raiddrivers were installed, elsewise I wasn't able to install xp (you don't have to install xp and then turn it into a raid config btw).
    It's just that it canot figure out how to boot from the raiddrive :(.
    Any other ideas?

    Your signature shows 3 drives, all different sizes. If you are going to raid a pair, they should preferrably be the same size and preferrably the same type. If you raid a mismatched pair then your new raid "drive" will the the size of the smallest, losing the remaining space on the largest.

    Like the title says:
    Is the 875P Neo-FIS2R a bad motherboad? I can understand that tis is a place where you will find more problems then anything else. But I mostly see motherboard specific problems, that occur on many mb's of the same type. I find that a bit disturbing...
    A friend of mine never had any troubles with it, then again, he might not tell me, or he is lucky. But based on his 'good' experience I have a 875P lying here right now.
    I cannot use it yet since I am missing a graphic card to go with it, I expect that to arrive next Tuesday. Im a bit nervous now.....
    Another question while I'm at it: will both controllers (the Intel and the Promise) work, or are the mutual exclusive. So I guess I mean is: do I have 3 P-ATA connectors on my mb or either 2 or 1??
    If it is the latter option, that would be lame, then I would have to insert my PCI card with a pomise controller....

    I have to say the 875P is definitely NOT a bad motherboard as long as you have approved components. It works very well for "standard" usage. It has all of the top features from Intel - 875P chipset, 10Gbit CSA, ICH5R, ADI audio, firewire, etc.
    I am concerned with some things MSI could/should have done better in the first place:
    1. Wrong NB temp (and it seems to be affected by NBFAN)
    2. No SFAN speed monitoring though it wouldn't have cost more to put it in ... X(
    3. Slow frequency of BIOS release or update fixes vs other "top tier" motherboard manufacturers
    4. More issues than others with popular memory modules
    5. Confusing or "poorly documented" BIOS features/interface leave tweakers less in control
    6. Corecell, DOT & MAT, BIOS are still a work in progress
    When you start looking for topnotch performance and stability via tweaking OR major overclocking - that is where it falls short - contrary to what their marketing says.
    Read this thread  where an 875P owner compares his new Asus P4C800E Deluxe (after his 875P Neo failed and had to go for RMA). I summarize his "review" here:
