Henry, true I did not pay much attention to the dates; BUT I must have searched a dozen forums and useless help screens trying to figure out why my two MSI 8800 GT OC's started to randomly lock up playing high end games. Upon reading some trouble shooting from other companies, I figured out a fix that is working fine versus not playing my games or buying new video cards. NOW if someone with aging MSI video cards like mine start to experience the same thing, they might run accross this post and be saved the agrivation I had. V/R Dave

  • GT735 fan speed stuck at 30% under XP SP3 - crashes in games

    Good day.
XP SP3 appears to not let the fan speed be adjusted according to the thermals, leading to overheating and BSODs pointing to
driver deadlocks in ati2dvag in graphically-intensive games.
Even such an old game as Deus Ex crashed once, whereas things like warcraft 3 tft, even on minimal settings, crash after about 10 minutes of gaming.
Neither the fan noise, nor GPU-Z readings (it has a file logging facility) indicate fan speed variation.
Latest, hacked up (for M88 support) ATI desktop drivers didn't change the situation.
Neither there appear to be any utility for manual fan speed adjustment for the SB700 southbridge -- the AMD's own
Overdrive utility is useless in this regard. Other things tried were: SpeedFan, CPUCool, the Linux kernel and Linux's standalone lm-sensors.
Update: it was ati2dvag, not ATI2Diag.exe

This is not a desktop machine, you should let the laptop control the speeds of the fan.
And you also should use the MSI drivers as they are adjusted to the machine.
What on earth are you trying to do? Game and make the laptop silent?
I wish the laptop controlled the speed of the fan, but it doesn't -- which is the entire issue.

  • SOLVED: GTX 770 Fan Speed Stuck at Full

Ever since I set up my GTX 770 in my computer, the fan speed appears to be set on full constantly. I have tried to use MSI Afterburner to solve the problem, but to no avail as adjusting the fan speed curve in Afterburner seems to do nothing. As soon as it boots, the fans ramp up to what sounds like max and stay like that. I was wondering if there was anyone else with this problem and if I can fix it.
    Thanks in advance,
    muddyducky
EDIT: Turns out it was actually every other fan in my computer running at 4000rpm that caused it - managed to turn it down in MSI Control Centre :P

Do you still have a question/problem?

  • MSI GT70-20C Optimal Fan speed

I have a question about my fan speed. When my laptop is on normal-i am not working on it, the temperature is 39c on the one core and something like 43 on the other. My fan speed on normal is from 1890 to 1930 RPM.Is this normal? Cuz i hear my laptop a little bit noisy, and i think 2 months ago it wasn't like this. Btw, i formatted my laptop 2 weeks ago, and its still the same-before and after it.Please share an opinions, how your laptop is doing... i will be grateful.

How are you liking it so far?
Just got mine, I've had and gone through 7 Asus g750 models. Starting with jw, then jm, then js, then jz. Had cpu thermal throttling on all of them. So now I switched to msi, gave up high cpu and low gpu temps for low cpu and high gpu temps. But I knew this before coming to msi. I render and edit 4k video, the cpu thermal throttle spikes, result in a glitch during that part of the final movie, when this happens over and over through the whole rendering process, the whole final video is poop. Asus final result was to tell me that I should be happy to get turbo, but to run stock without turbo boost aka 2.4ghz. I told them no freakin way am I running 2.4ghz, that's not acceptable, goodbye.
    And now hello, msi.
Overall, asus vs msi, still blow for blow just as nice. But I will say I have no regrets coming to the GT70, fan noise a little loud while gaming, im not used to that. But I don't game much.

  • MSI H81M-P33 Cpu Fan Speed Problem! Urgent

Hi. Bought a H81M-P33 board and got a problem.
I can´t increase my CPU fan Speed to maxium RPM . Tried to use Command Center and Board Bios without any sucess.
This leads to my cpu (i5 4670) getting hot with stock cooler. When I´m encoding a video it reaches 85º. The best solution I had was to connect CPU Fan to Chassis Fan slot on the motherboard and it increased speed, but still it doesn´t increase past a certain value.
What can I do to solve this problem? Tried everything without any luck. The board doesn´t handle CPU fan speed + temperatura increase well. Is not normal to have a CPU stock volts getting hot.
    Thanks

I know that for sure XFM. The thing is that the board isn´t increasing CPU fan speed as it should. Ofc a better cooler would do the job, but even with stock cooler it can be cooler. The problem is that the fan is always in slow mode :|

  • HT1338 MBP gets heated upto 70 celcius, but fan speed stuck at 2000rpm

Service center person didn't found any fault.
    What to do

In my opinion, 2000 rpm at 70ºC are normal. Moreover, I don't recommend fan speeds higher than 2000 rpm to prevent future hardware problems.
Anyway, you can check yourself if there's a problem with the fan. To do it, run Apple Hardware Test > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509 To run it, connect your computer to the charger and follow the steps of the link in order to run Apple Hardware Test. Then, choose your language, tick the option to run an extended test and start the test.
If, at the end, you see an error, copy it here. If not, your computer is working properly

  • MSI K8N Neo Platinum Fan Speed

I have a zalman 7000AlCu cooler and my system lowers the fan speed when temperatures drop.
    according to Corecell:
    CPU Temp: 35C
    SYS Temp: 44C
    FanSpeed: 1298RPM
Is there any way to lower the fan speed even more?
BTW: Bios 1.48b finally gave me reasonable temperature readouts. It used to 50C idle, but now that i have 1.48 they dropped to 35C idle

Thanks for that, as I said I don't have the Zalman so didn't know about its cooling capability at lowest speed.

  • MSI K9N2 Diamond CPU FAN SPEED

It is not much of a problem, but, recently I changed my msi k9n platinum with k9n2 diamond and, of course, I transfered the old hardware to the new mainboard.
My CPU is x2 64 athlon 6000+ and my fan is Cooler Master Susurro (http://www.overclockersonline.net/?page=articles&num=354). On my platinum board my fan
acted quietly, around 1000-1100 rpms and the cpu temp. around 42-44 degrees celsius. As I changed the mainboard the cpu temp. fell on 34-36 BUT the cpu fan
is now cooling faster, around 1400-1600 rpms. I don't mind my cpu 8 degrees hotter and a better sleep at night :D. I've tried latest drivers, cool&quiet drivers, bios
cool&quiet, smart fan target.. nothing helps. It is the same. I run windows XP SP2. Updated to the last released bios. Tied speedfan, but it doesn't support that
mainboard. And my fan is now too loud, can someone help me

When changing motherboard you need to do at least a repair installation of Windows. Can't really be avoided.
That would mean you reinstall motherboard drivers. Maybe things work better this time.
You set Cooln'quiet to minimal savings, if I'm not mistaken.
Your Susurro got a few years. Are you sure it is up to the job? The test you link to was with a Socket 939 processor, at about half to 2/3 the power and heat output to the one you got.
Oh, and please mention your PSU, too.

  • MSI 780 Ti Gaming Fans Stuck at 2700RPM

Hi, I bought an MSI 780 Ti Gaming card last week. One of the buying points being that everybody was real happy with how silent it was. However mine was being quite loud. I tried setting the fan speeds to lower but I noticed the tachometer being stuck at 2700 rpm while reviews mentiond som 1000-1500 rpm.
Setting the fan speed to 34% or 100% doesn't have any effect. Both GPU-Z and Afterburner show the tachometer stuck at 2700RPM.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Is this reason enough to ask for a replacement card?
    Thanks in advance

  • MSI HD 7850 1GB GDDR5 OC edition Fan speed problem

    Hello all.
I have some strange issue with my graphic card and fan i think. I have noticed that, when my monitor goes to sleep (or when I manually turn off), after few minutes (7-8-9-10) I can loudly hear GPU fan acceleration. And it happens every few minutes. So, everything is ok few minutes, and after that, again I can hear that annoying sound, the sound of accelerated fan. That happens only, but only when the monitor is switched off (whether it manually or automatically switched off).
I bought this video just 2 months ago, as well as other components of the computer. So, everything is practically new.
I have tested my graphic card with MSI Kombustor v. 2.4, and everything was fine. Temperatures, FPS, and all that stuf was fine.
I've never had a problem in any game so far. Everything working fine on high details all kind of games. Temperatures are pretty
normal. In a fact, I think that is temperature is lower than some average. I have a problem only with horizontal lines, but that is because i have monitor with VGA output. As a mather of fact, barely notice them. And, I have instaled latest 13.4 drivers. I deleted the old version with driver sweeper. And in an earlier version of driver was the same problem...
Again, the problem arises when my monitor is off. I have tested with MSI Afterburner 2.2.5 beta and GPU-Z 0.7.0.
All settings in both of programs are on default. So, that numbers at paragraph RMP, when monitor is off, max is 1563. That is 400 more than when monitor is on.
I have tried to test when is minimum usage of GPU fan is 40% (i just clicked on "user define" button on the right side of "fan speed"), and then, RMP number would be 1700 or even more.
    When monitor is off:
    When monitor is on:
So, everything is perfect when monitor is on, again. I don't think that is normal, and I beg for help. Is there any kind of solution to fix this problem? Please. I am thankful in advance. Sorry for my bad English.
    P.S.
I wanted to upload pictures, but forum does not allow me. Or, I don't know how to do that. I only want to show values...

Usualy, i left Opera, uTorrent, Skype in backround. Then, I shut down the programs, and only programs in background are Avast 8 and Realtek Audio Manager (both are in system tray). No matter if you leave a program in the background or not, it's the same.
I really have never met with this type of problem and I have no idea how to fix that. If I complain to the seller, he would run tests like I did, and everything would be ok. And when  I would told him about the fan problem, probably would have told me that everything is okay...
I don't know what to try, really...

  • MSI 270X Gaming troubles!(black screen on boot/Fan speed on max)

Hello. I bought a brand new videocard - MSI 270X Gaming. But I got troubles with the computer boot. I start the computer, i got the greenting sound of Windows 7(everything's work), but i don't have anything on the screen - pitch black! And the fan speed is max. That's it!!! In order to make it work, I'm suppose to unplug the card from the PCI-e slot and put in back in. When i do this, it work fine... until the next time I have to turn on my computer. Again the same story. Only removing and putting back the card in the PCI slot works. I updated my MB Bios to latest ver. - don't work. Clear CMOS - don't work.
To make sure the problem is in the card, not in the PC, i'v putted another videocard and it's working nice
So guys if you have any ideas how to make this card work fine, please tell me. My other option is to return it to the store!

oki, have you tried to switch the card vbios to the other one and to see how it goes?
OK, didin't do that. If it not removing my warranty, tell me how to do it?! Please!

  • MSI P6NGM-L system temperature and processor fan speed

    Hi folks,
I've got a MSI P6NGM-L board that is reaching a system temperature of 46ºC-47ºC at everyday load (not playing games or doing heavy work... just browsing, email, text editor, etc). My case has got a frontal and rear 120mm (exaustor) fan, and my processor (Core 2 Duo E7200), an Akasa AK-965BL cooler. My graphics board is a XFX Geforce 9800GT with Zalman FC-ZV9 cooler. Overall temperature is just fine, except for the system temperature, that is 32ºC when the system is turned on and is cold, and reaches about 47ºC after some time and using. I disabled the onboard NVIDIA on BIOS, but that didn't make any difference. Is that temperature OK for my configuration, or somehow high?
I thought about taking off the northbridge heatsink and applying Arctic Silver 5 in it, but I don't know if that would make any difference, and it would give me a big job, because I would have to take the board off... so I don't know if it's worth.
Another question, is P6NGM-L board PWM compatible? I tried using speedfan to control the processor's temperature but it says it's at 100%, and I know the cooler is in silent operation. If so, what software should I use to control the processor fan?
    Thanks for any help

I don't have a way to measure my room's temperature, but it's quite hot... something like 26ºC.
I thought that with all the cooling I've got inside my case the system temp would get lower, but it is still the same under normal load, even since my case had only one exaustor and stock coolers.
What about the processor's fan speed? Can I really change it by software? I plan to do some overclocking, so I would like to do tests with the processor cooler in full speed... I've googled all the way around, but couldn't find substancial information about P6NGM-L support for that.
    Thanks

  • MSI Afterburner Fan speed?

i have a MSI Radeon HD 5970 g.c. and i recently adjusted fan speed to cool off to about 35 degrees C when pc starts.
to do this i raised fan speed to about 60%.
normally, the fan comes on and while progressively cooling my g.c. it cycles down to a lower fan speed.
just recently though, the fan has stopped cycling down after startup or during gameplay that causes lots of heat, cycling up to account for the heat.
i have MSI afterburner v2.0.0 with latest graphics drivers and what not(im pretty sure, as of feb. 4,2011)
is this a common problem or is there something simple i can do to fix?

Try downloading Afterburner 2.1.0 Beta 7 here and see if that changes anything.
The one you have is older and known to have issues.
    Edit:
Here's a quote with from the changes they made:
    Quote
Fan control settings are now being forcibly reapplied after changing the clocks via unofficial overclocking path to bypass bug in AMD driver causin the fan control settings to be reset to defaults after programming PowerPlay table
So that might be the problem you have.
