MSI 890GXM-G65 @ Core Unlocking

Hi guys, I'm new here in this forums.
I just want to ask for those who uses their MSI 890GX-G65 for core unlocking.
specs:
AMD Phenom II X2 555BE (4 cores stable)
MSI 890GXM-G65 bios @ 1.6
G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 CL7 (running @ 1333mhz 7-8-7-24 @1.6v)
MSI R5770 Hawk
OCZ ModXstream 600w
My issue is I've unlocked my processor and it's pretty stable, enable ACC. then boot OK.
after some hours of gaming, PC is shutdown. After a few hours, I opened it again and it boot again as X2 yet ACC is enabled.
I have to disable ACC reboot then enable ACC again to unlock it again to x4.
Another issue is OS loading, it's 4x longer in loading than the normal once, my basis in the OS Loading in my PC is after the logo of windows appear, caps,scroll,num lock leds will lit and the mouse then after that it should continue to login screen, but in my case after the lit ups, it hang for a minute(or longer) before continuing to the log in screen. i tried it with all stock no OC, regular OS loading only takes place after reformatting my Computer. after that it returns this kind of case.

I think it's stable enough, btw the x4 to x2 scenario is not always happening. but it has high chances the your next cold boot would you're on X2.
and i do Play games(2 hours minimum), do stress test(1 hour minimum then back to stock), and overclocking(only when gaming). and i think it's really stable.

MSI 890GXM-G65 Thuban Issues

Sorry if I post this in the wrong section.
I've been using v1.0 original bios for MSI 890GXM-G65 board without any problems.
Recently I tried updating to v1.2 to enable support for X6 1055T as stated in the link below.
My cpu code is HDT55TFBK6DGR which is the 125W version and requires v1.2 bios.

I am unable to turn off Cool'n'Quiet feature for the Thuban core.
Enabling or disabling the setting in BIOS has no effect at all.
Multipliers keep dropping to x4 from the stock x14.
I also could not find any setting in BIOS to switch off Turbo Core.

I found out that the MSI 790FX-GD70 also do not have such a feature to disable Turbo Core.
In comparison, the Biostar TA890GXE has that setting in its BIOS so this is not a specific issue for 890G-based boards.
Lastly, I could not get CPU-Z (or any other programs for that matter) to display accurate readings of the cpu vcore (set in BIOS).
Will MSI be releasing a new BIOS soon to fix these issues ?

Unfortunately I only have synthetic benchmarks to compare the results with.
This is my very FIRST phenom chip from AMD.
The only quad I ever tried was the Intel Q6600 (used for 1-mth) before sticking to 2-core processors ever since. LOL!

Help - MSi 890GXM-G65 error

New build with MSi 890GXM-G65 and AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition was working perfectly for a few hours.
I added some legacy sata drives and for some reason I can't get to the BIOS menu, I just get 1 beep and a screen of red letters.

I have one in my 890FXA-GD70 board and it works fine (not on CPU support list for my board too, I notice), don't see why it shouldn't work in your 890GXM-G65 board also.

MSI 890GXM-G65 Overclocking Problems

I have:
MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard
4 GB OCZ PC3-16000 Platinum Edition memory (OCZ3P20004GK) runs at 1.95v and 2000 MHZ at 9-9-9-30
Sapphire 5870 1 GB video Card
AMD 955 Processor (Black Edition that runs at 3.2 GHZ)
Without anything else overclocked I cant even raise my front side bus to 204 without it not posting at 16 multiplier. 203 post fine. I upgraded Bios to 1.B.
I have several other questions, but this is the first concern I have and that I would I like to address. Hope my motherboard is not not "broken". This is mainly just a thread starter and will get into more overclocking questions/problems later one...after addressing this issue.

Im sorry but I made a mistake. Before I use the Control Center my Ram speed is around 1666 instead of 1706. I get 1706 after I up the Front Side Bus in Control Center to 256. Hope this didnt confuse any.
As far as the Hyper Transport speeds. I am getting as you can see in the mid 2500's. The Box and website show 2600. So is this a misprint because you would think that 2600 would be out of the box instead of an overclock?
My 12 volt rail is 70 amp. I am using the 850 watt Kingwin MK Power Power Supply.
And again another question that really hasnt been answered yet. If I can overclock on the software side of things (Control Center) should't I be able to overclock on the hardware side as in bios. For example I am getting 250 FSB on Bios, but I can only get up to 256 in Control Center. You would think that if it works in Control Center is should work in Bios. And this is a very Stable FSB too (after testing with 3dMark etc.)

MSI 890GXM-G65 mother board help

Hi, need some major help. I just got a MSI 890GXM-G65 mother board / AMD Phenom II X6 processor. Installed it in the Antec Fusion Micro ATX case and the fans spin, seems like everything is powering but no video from the onboard video. I’m using a corsair vx 550 powersupply. No matter what I try I can get anything on the monitor. Is this a grounding issue? Powersupply not good enough? I just tried taking the memory out to see if it would beep and nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MSI 890GXM-G65 Black Screen

Hey guys, new member, but Ive been a longtime reader.
I have the MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard with the following other components:
AMD X4 820 CPU
8GB (4x2GB DDR3 1333) ram
1TB Western Digital
Antec High Current 400W PSU
DVDRW
I have a black screen on the PC when it boots. The monitor doesn't turn on at all. I removed all peripherals except CPU, motherboard, ram and power supply.
Here's what I have tried:
1. Replaced RAM with other known working ram
2. Tried one stick in each of the 4 slots individually.
3. Tried a different power supply.
4. Installed a PCI express video card.
5. Switched CPUS to an AMD B73 CPU
6. Tried VGA, DVI and HDMI on the motherboard output.
None of these things have worked. The CPU fan spins at what appears to be full speed, all four blue LEDs are on, and there is no video.
Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do?

It isn't a new build. It was working before with these exact specs for about a year. This is my HTPC, so I don't use it too often, last used a week ago. I turned it on today and got nothing. So I've been replacing every part I can.
Forgot to mention that I also cleared the CMOS, which did nothing.

MSI 890FX GD70 Core Unlock doesn't POST

I have a 555 Phenom II Black Edition 3.2ghz but using core unlock on the 1.6 bios in MSI 890FX GD70 makes the mobo not post. Is there any solutions to this?
Also I have windows 7 installation problems (won't finish "completing installation") part.

You can try, but as said, if it doesnt work now, it probably never will.
Please read the link provided in my previous post, I explained all there is.
Bottom line, your dualcore works fine, but unlocking doesnt work on it, so your other cores are not functioning right and make your system go bananas, so stick with the dualcore.

MSI 890GXM-G65 Zosma Core CPU 960T support

Hey guys, i picked up AMD Phenom x4 960T proccy - HD96ZTWFK4DGR ,ZOSMA core, was wondering if my board will support it. In the webpage of CPU support i see Phenom II X4 Zosma HD840TWFK4DGR 840T is supported. Please do let me know.

Msi 890GXM-G65 overclocking?

BIOS 1.6,
XP 32-bit
AMD 1090T 3.2ghz
msi GTX460 Twin Frozr II
4gb DDR-1333
I have a number of these machines, but I want to overclock the one on my desk for Folding At Home.
The dip-switch overclocking does work, and is reported by the O/S and the BIOS correctly. It has huge fans, CPU runs very cool (34°C max at sustained 100% load) at 3520mhz (+10%, 220 base clock) so I believe I can run it up more. It has been stable at these settings running 100% 24/7 for two weeks straight.
Problems:
The msi Control Center application has no effect whatsoever on actual speed or voltage. Validated through benchmarking.
Within the BIOS, I cannot select base CPU clock or voltage to adjust them, they are grayed out. I can adjust the multiplier, but it becomes unstable at all multipliers past 16x (stock).
I want to increase voltage 10%, then try to get it stable at 20% base clock boost (3.8ghz)
What path should I take to get control over the voltage and base clock?

Tried BIOS, msi Control Panel, AMD Overdrive. Folding with msi GTX460 at 900mhz base, 1800mhz memory, 1.087v, very stable = ~14.5k PPD.
I ended up doing a BIOS reset, then VOILA, I can change volts and base again. Must be a bug in the BIOS.
Turned up to 220 base, 18x multiply, 10% up on volts. Running Kingston DDR3-1333 at 10% overclock stable. 3.96 ghz.
Seems to all be working fine (famous last words), I'll let it churn and burn over the weekend. Current SMP + GPU pairing is 27.5k PPD. CPU temp is now 40°C, GPU is 40°C as well.
Turning on GPU makes the SMP take a big hit. It goes from 3:30 TPF (6076) up to 4:20 with the GPU running in tandem. Might think of turning off one core?

Is it possible to put 2 raid controllers in the 2 pci-e ports at the same time. ( two pci-e x4 ) ?
And use the igp for the monitor.

The cards will fit....but they need to share a common firmware else it will FAIL.
Therefor, not knowing if they do, I say NO, as i can't answer the question with a YES.
Also, they will probably fight with the onboard-RAID if used.
There is no way to say if it will work, insert them and find out, that's the only answer that can be given.
Trust me, RAID-controllers are something else....they fail more than they work, I have been fighting with them too many times.
But the last years I got smart, simply avoid cards that do raid and let software do the raid....works well and no firmware/BIOS hassles, on top, works with any controller (also without extra firmware!)

890GXM-G65 on-board Audio white noise when shutting down ... Please Help

Just got this board on ebay. Runs great but when rebooting the following happens:
MSI 890GXM-G65 on-board Audio produces a second's worth of white noise (radio no-station-tuned static sound) when shutting down - about a second before the screen goes bank and the PC restarts
I don't mind the noise but is this normal or should I send the board back ?

All Windows Sounds are turned off except for Device Connect / Disconnect / Connect Failure. I have an Audigy 2 PCI card but I haven't tried it because the drivers always lock up the PC when I run MSI Afterbutner, eVGA Precision or almost any other hardware monitoring utility.
Since I flashed the BIOS to v1.B I feel I can't return it to the seller but I really like the board and it works well, except for this integrated audio issue. I won't return this board - it's a keeper.
Still, I'm hoping for a fix if possible.

890GXM-G65 Boot issue (onboard video?)

Well i was going to upgrade my computer with this mobo and a new video card and ofc new ram and cpu since i was still on ddr2 and dual core. well i go to put everything together and at first when i had the video card in there it was booting up fine with one beep every time it showed the bios thing. The first problem was though that after the post screen happened it sat there so long at the black screen with blinking cursor before going into the windows 7 setup, the cd drive kept spinning up in bursts during that long wait. And also the bios was only recognizing half the memory when i put them in slot 1 and 2 so now in slot 1 and 3 they are always recognized. Then after i got into the gui part of the w7 setup about halfway through it would either freeze or restart (mostly restart) but not part of the expected restarts that the windows installation does. So i took out the video card thinking maybe that was the cause and tried to just use the onboard video. Now when i try to boot it up all the fans start spinning, cd rom spins up but no signal is ever sent to the monitor like it was unplugged, and also i dont see any activity from the hdd based on the front led and also the keyboard never lights up (blue backlit keys) and mouse laser never comes on. I did get a chance to run memtest for a few passes and no errors, so not really sure what to do now. anyone experience something similar?

and actually got a cmos checksum bad error one of the last times i was able to boot up

well apparently it seems as if that might have been part of the issue, but it still wasnt fully resolved. I actually did have a 7200 1TB seagate drive in there that was plugged in to the psu but not connected via sata because i didnt want to make the mistake of wiping it. i unplugged the power from it and it booted up to the bios screen where ( i know i had previously set it to internal video after i took out the card ) it read pcie so then i changed that, rebooted and proceeded to install windows 7 ultimate.
so i sucessfully install it all the way through but now it freezes every so often and actually got a bsod it memory dumped and restarted. it just randomly restarts like when i try to get my experience rating, and other stuff. i was able to install all the latest drivers and everything so im not exactly sure whats going on here.. could it be the PSU? or could it have something to do with my ram not being compatable or not being ran at the right voltage or other setting?
I did a few different PSU calculators and none of them even came close to needing 700 w and i even selected 2 physical cpus just to see if that would push it over.. and i also ran my old system with no probs on it although it was only a dual core ddr2.
I also have a front panel sound blaster x-fi plugged in
Also the cpu temp is 30-34c every time i check in bios, so i dont think its a heat prob

890GXM-G65 PS/2 Keyboard

I recently bought the MSI 890GXM-G65 along with a 1055T. Currently my bios is v1.4 and my system is working fine. However, my board will not recognize my PS/2 keyboard. At first I thought it was a problem with my wireless keyboard but testing it with a wired keyboard results in a nonfunctional keyboard. Using my wireless keyboard with USB works fine but the board will not recognize input from the USB keyboard at bootup; that is, I cannot enter the BIOS. Booting with a PS/2 keyboard results in a nonfunctional keyboard even after Windows loads.
Any idea what might be the problem other than simply a bad motherboard? The PS/2 keyboards lights do flash once when the system boots.

Please enter Device Manager to have a look if there are half-way installed keyboards and mice, etc.
About your BIOS thing, something and probably the processor is likely not recognised. 1.6 update is for 6-core's.
About your Windows repair issue I can't quite say, but start with above and the rest might follow.
I guess I'm simply not understanding what I should do.
First you said that PS2 keyboards should be attached before powering on the system. I have been doing this but the motherboard still does not recognize it. Likewise, when Windows starts with only the PS2 keyboard, the keyboard is not functional and I cannot enter a password to login to Windows.
Then you said that USB peripherals should be attached when Windows has already booted. If I wait until Windows loads to my login screen and then connect my USB keyboard, it works perfectly and I am able to login. However, leaving it plugged in while booting results in the same thing.
If I connect the PS2 keyboard before powering on, wait until Windows loads, then connect the USB keyboard (to enter my password), and check device manager, I only see my USB keyboard (HID Keyboard Device).
As far as the BIOS goes, I just used Liveupdate to update to 1.6. However, I am still having the same problems.
