MSI 915G combo no sound or internet

Hi
Motherboard: MSI 915G Combo
For one day ago I decided to format my hard drive.
I installed Windows Xp professional and all drivers.
But when the computer had started up so didnt the sound or the internet work, I've tried to reinstall the drivers to my motherboard, but it didnt work. So are there a problem with my motherboard, or something else?

Have you installed the cmedia audio drivers properly? Get the latest ones from http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=604&kind=1

  • Msi 915G combo-fr memory readout problem

    well i bought this ram which is capable of running at 533 mhz at 3224 timing or 700 mhz at 43312 timing so i buy it right and i buy this board so ever thing boots up but it reads it as 400 so i go in bios and put it to 533 but it still says 400 when boot. i think there needs to be a bios update and also when i raid fsb frequency is raises the fsb above 533 but it doesnt give me that fsb eather it over clocks from 400 so if i have 250 fsb it will make it 500 witch is under the miniumum setting for my ram so what could be done to fix this i think is bios programmer guys at msi provide bios update with a forcable memory fsb option that raises or lowers by typing in or raising 1 mhz at a time  link to memory http://www.techniz.co.uk/modules.php?name=Reviews&rop=showcontent&id=186

    thank you very much

    Please read the Forum Rules. You are asking to speak with someone from MSI and there aren't any that visit here.
    You are asking for a memory clock that is totally independent from the cpu clock. That will not work; they have to run at a fixed ratio. No bios change can possible "fix" the physically impossible.
    Your best memory performance is when the two clocks run syncrhonously, which for your cpu is 400. The ram you have purchased would be suitable for a 1066 FSB cpu and board without overclocking, or it is great stuff for overclocking.

  • [915G] New MSI 915G-ComboFR - affected by recall?

    A question someone out there hopefully can answer? - I JUST purchased an MSI 915G Combo-FR motherboard this week from Zipzoomflly.com .  Today on searching the internet I find out that there was a recall of the MSI 915G boards back in early July / end of June.  Does anyone know if there's any way for me to find out if my board is affected?  Is anyone aware of which serial numbers are affected?
    Cheers

  • Can 915G Combo support DDR2-800 ?

    Hey ~~every1
    My Motherboard is 915G Combo MS-7058 BIOS ver 1.6 which support both DDR1 & DDR2. Now i just consider to upgrade DDR2 Module. Can My Motherboard support the latest DDR2 667 or 800 ? There is a news that Infineon will start to produce DDR2-800 in June that 512MB DDR2-800 will be price at $93.
    Here is Comp Spec
    MSI 915G Combo MS-7058 BIOS ver 1.6
    LGA775 Intel 540 Pentium 4 3.2Ghz
    Kingston 512MB DDR400(Single Channel)
    40 HDD Samsung (PATA-Spinpoint)
    SW-252B Samsung Writer
    Prolink V.92 Modem
    PowerSupply 480W (20 Pin)

    The ram should run OK, just not at it's maximum speed. For you CPU the optimum speed is DDR400.
    I have my doubts that DDR2 800 will be available for under $100, but I have been wrong before
    Do you intend on buying two sticks or one? If only one, stick with what you have now. If two I think you need to decide if what you are purchasing will perform any better than buying for more stick of DDR 400. Performance wise I don't think so.

  • How setup XP with 915G Combo

    machine specification:
    MSI 915G Combo
    hardisk = Maxtor 6 L040J2
    DVD = Samsung DVD-Rom SD-616F
    RAM = 2 x 256MB Kingston KVR400X64C3A/256
    CPU = Intel Pentium 4 530 3GHz 88Mhz FSB 1MB L2 Cache LGA775
    Power supply = 450W/P4/12CM Fan
    This is my first time with MSI, and first time to setup my new computer by my own... but, i have facing many problems...
    i am having problem to install Windows XP Pro SP1, always stop half way with a blue screen that warn me about the demage of harddrive...
    now i have Windows 98 SE in my new computer, but since the VGA not support for Win98, i dun want to stay with WIN98.
    then, i try to move another hard drive with XP Pro SP1 into this motherboard, but, it do not auto detect the WinXP...
    then i try out with the Win98 hard drive, it can detected and start with Win98.
    p/s: when i enter BIOS setting, my IDE Primary Master = [Not Detected], but i can see my DVD-rom in IDE Third Master...
    anybody can give me suggestion and guideline about this???

    First you will need to install using the F6 key, to install the specific drivers that come with the mobo.
    This shoul'nt be nesserearly with ich6, as it has support for native s-ate and p-ata.
    First of all, you should never try to start youre MB with a HD from another system, unless it's identical as yours. If you do that, you must do a repair of XP(press 'E' after you have answered yes to the licence agreement) er format the disc and do a clean install.
    Also, how big is youre disk?
    Try updating the bios.
    I agree with ArcAiN6, check youre cables and jumpers. If that does'nt help, here is link to MaxtorFAQ that might help.
    Good luck

  • [915 Series] 915G-Combo with OCZ-DDR2-533/4200 no post - help!

    I was hoping one of you wonderful experts on this board might be able to help.  I just bought a pair of OCZ DDR2-RAM and am having trouble getting the system to recognize it.  Here are the specs:
    RAM specs:
     - 533MHz DDR2, unbuffered CL 3-3-3-8
     - 1GB (2X512) dual channel optimized gold kit
     - 1.8V 240pin DIMM
     - 2.2V EVP - OCZ's unique Extended Voltage Protection feature allows PC2-4200 modules to handle voltages up to 2.2V ±5%
     - OCZ part number:-OCZ25331024ELDCGE-K
    System specs:
        * CPU model and rated speed:-Intel Socket775 2.8GHzE
        * Not Overclocked
        * Motherboard and revision:-MSI 915G-combo
        * Motherboard Bios rev:-1.7 (latest)
        * Video card:-ATI X800XL
        * Power supply:-450W
        * Operating System:-XP Pro SP2
    My current Crucial DDR-400 PC3200 CT6464Z40B 2x512MB RAM runs without problems installed.  When I switched out the Crucial RAM and installed the OCZ DDR2-533 PC4200 RAM in the appropriate DDR2 slots (1 and 3), no go.  The system won't even post and I can't get into the BIOS.  I tried using even just one of the 512MB sticks, alternated sticks, and even tried just one stick in DDR2 in slot3 instead of slot1 - no go. My boot drives don't get accessed either as I had even placed a Memtest bootdisk in the floppy hoping it might be able to access that.
    I've been working over the last 24hrs with the very helpful OCZ folks but we havn't been able to get anywhere.  I realize that OCZ isn't technically on the 'tested and verified' DDR2-list for the 915G-combo board, but OCZ is a good name brand (up there with Crucial) and I went for the higher-end Gold-series (CAS3) so I figured it wouldn't be a problem.
    I've tried clearing the CMOS (no effect except to wipe out my bios settings).  I have a D-Bracket2 installed and it hangs when the upper right light is green with the rest red (according to the D-bracket guide, that means 'Memory Detection Test - will hang if the memory module is damaged or not installed properly'.  I can't imagine the RAM is bad - I have 2 matching ones to test (neither seem to work when installed by itself), and just got it brand new from Monarchcomputers yesterday evening in their retail box unopened.
    Per OCZ's advice, I was unable to manually set a CAS of 4 with my Crucial DDR installed (I could only manually set it to a max of 3), so I also test-tried a manual set of the BIOS memory timing to 3-4-4-10 while the Crucial DDR RAM was installed and then retried the system with only the new DDR2 installed in their appropriate slots (Crucial DDR of course removed).  Still no luck - the system won't get to bios and hangs at the Memory Test per D-Bracket2.  It won't even get to a point where it tries to access/boot from floppy so that I can't run MemoryTest from disk.
    Would anyone else out there recommend trying something else, short of going out and shelling out $140 for an ABit AA8-925X mboard that OCZ actually lists as compatible with their RAM?  My MSI 915G-Combo board has been flawless for me up to now and I'd hate to part with it just because it won't work with good OCZ DDR2 ram.  One thing I havn't tried is attempting to use an older BIOS version - I had flashed to the latest v1.7 bios prior to installing the DDR2 ram, so I've never actually tried any of the older versions.  Does anyone think this would be worth a shot?
    Cheers
    - James

    Thanks... I tried that.... still no go...
    I just got an email from OCZ techsupport (they had requested that I email them directly).
    "we have identified a problem with the PC4200 Gold DDR2 dimms, we need to get you a pair with reprogrammed SPD info on them. So we need to swap your kit out"
    They were very apologetic about it, and from what I can tell I don't think this happens a lot with OCZ ram...
    So that hopefully will be the solution to my problem.. I'm processing an RMA with them right now.. will let you know how it goes.. it's a 'relief' to find out that it most likely isn't my MSI-915G board's fault after all...
    Kudos to OCZ at least for getting back to me so quickly, even though it does suck to have my memory delayed again.. I'll post again when I get the replacement RAM and let you all know how it goes...  at least they've identified a problem and are willing to take care of it rather than leaving me hanging...

  • 915G Combo + Pentium 4 650J (775/3,4GHz) - Do it work?

    HI!
    I am buying MSI 915G Combo mobo and also Pentium 4 prosessor.
    From "MSI's cpu support site" we can read, that 915G works fine with 550J -series pentium4 prosessor, but with 650J -series prosessors are under testing.
    Do anybody know, that works this mobo with newest bios also with Pentium4 660J prosessor??? Or must all users wait newer bios??? If we must, can some know how long?
    If I try use mobo with 650J  prosessor, can prosessor or mobo crash?? Voltages, etc?
    kkuu

    I'll just say "Please don't try this at home", since no results has been produced from MSI and while they have already mentioned "Under Testing" means that nothing has yet to be confirmed on whether Yes or No.
    You can either wait for the results or you can start placing your bets if you want to try testing yourself, but don't hair-split if things goes bad... . The worst case will be dead mobo + CPU and the best results will be the message, "Unknown CPU Steppings" or stuffs like this.

  • 915G Combo Unable to install Azalia Driver in Windows 2000

    System:
    P4 Processor 520 2.8GHz (LGA775)
    Kingston DDR400 512MB (one stick)
    915G combo
    Powercolor Radeon X300
    Lite-On DVD writer SOHW-1653S02C
    Maxtor 80GB SATA
    C-Media Azalia Audio Drivers cannot be install in windows 2000(Format, new OS). Got the error message hardware was not detected. Already install the Busdriver according in C-media Azalia Driver, sound is OK (2.0 speaker). but cannot install the Azalia driver. I afraid if something might goes wrong in the future if there's no proper driver.
    Have no problem with the driver when installing WindowsXP (SP2 direcX9.0c included), but I want to use windows 2000 instead.

    I have only install SP3 and SP4 for windows 2000, but haven't update anything as that place got no Internet connection.
    I didn't check what DirectX version was included with Win2k SP4, so I'll try to run windows update after this.
    Which chipset driver are you mentioning, the Motherboard chipset? If that the case, I already install all the other driver in the MSI Driver CD but stuck at Azalia driver.
    I am wondering, is it OK NOT to install Cmedia audio driver? As installing the BusDriver (included in Cmedia driver), sound is OK but I don't want it will arise conflict in the future.

  • 915G combo HDD CD-DVD question

    Hi I have a new 915G combo MB with latest bios etc.
    Here is the question, i have Boot Hdd on the blue IDE1 as c/s the 2 CD-DVD CD/R-RW on IDE 2 as c/s,
    in bios it reports
    Pri master       not detected
    pri secondary   not detected
    sec master      not detected
    sec secondary not detected
    thi master       detected maxtor 160gb
    thi secondary   not detected
    the 2 CD rom detected in raid.
    Ok it works but why isnt the maxtor detected as primary master as normal when in IDE1 slot?
    also why the bios does not detect the 2 CD roms.
    Also if i disable the on board raid, and use IDE bus mastering in bios the HDD light is lit all the time.
    Thanks for any help on this
    All the best Thomas

    IDE bus mastering is not for the RAID controller. Check in the Integrated Peripherals, look for the RAID controller settings, either it's disabled, RAID, or IDE. If you only seen Disabled and RAID, then you'll need to go into the RAID controller setup instead of BIOS setup to change to IDE. If still can't do this, then you have to follow my suggestion in the first place.
    I guess you've already have the perception on MSI board and I don't think anyone can convince you further. Good luck to you on whatever board you use in the future. You're welcome back here if you have any MSI related questions.

    Using Airport Express for External speakers and Apple TV.  When I'm on MAC computer adn using internet sound from Internet does not go through external speakers.  Instead it comes out of Mac computer speaker.  Why?

    As far as I know, the Airport Express only transmits sounds via Itunes. So every other sound (internet, but also incoming mail) will be coming out of your mac instead of your external speakers.

  • Lower the RAM's Memory Timing to something Less Aggressive...? MSI KM2M Combo-L

    (Not sure where would be the best place to post, so this question is posted here and in the BIOS Thread...  If possible, could the Moderators please leave BOTH as to assure a response...  I'd appreciate it...  Thank You..!!!)
    MSI KM2M Combo-L (601-6738-010)
    I’m running into some application errors, and the main suggestion is to lower the RAM’s Memory Timing to something Less Aggressive...
    The problem with that is I don’t see any option in the MSI KM2M Combo-L Phoenix 6g BIOS...
    Basically, I’m trying to “Underclock”...   NOT “Overclock”...
    Any ideas...??
    (I tried “searching” the forums, but I’m not finding anything, other than people asking “Why would you want to do that...??”   Those types of responses aren’t very useful...)

    Hi
    The KM2M Combo L bios under Dram Clock/Drive Control allows some adjustment of the memory timings.  I suggest that you run it with the Dram Clock set by Spd (default).  If you still have errors, run memtest for a couple of hours to check your memory.
