MSI 915GM-FR Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Yes, because of recent turbulence   considering some of the ram I recently bought, I am looking for different Ram that is compatible with this board:      MSI 915GM-FR Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 915G Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
I know that some places it says that the voltage is 2.5, but could I push it a bit with 2.6  ?  because I really dont want to buy a no-name brand for what I want.  However, if not, thats the way it is...

Most boards have the DDR voltage set to 2.6V I believed. So if you put in a 2.5V rated DDR, it will still work. Undervoltage may not. You can always refer to MSI Test Report on DDR http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_trp_detail.php?UID=606
but those are not complete list.

In cell menu...change auto settings for FSB to "Manual" and then adjust CPU FSB in small increments until you get a stable overclock.  Ie;..std FSB is 1333mhz...increase it to 1500 mhz and save and reboot.  Small increases in CPU voltage may be necessary for a stable OC.  If you want to see the full speed in CPU-Z you will have to disable C1E in Advanced bios....CPU...then hit "F4" to show the hidden C1E option.  If you dont disable C1E, you will see the true OC fsb in bios when booting, but the C1E will "throttle" the multiplier back in Windows to a 6 or 7.  At full load, the max FSB will kick in automatically. Hope this helps get you started in the right track.

I don't think they will go for BTX regardless
Actually they don't have much of a say since, unlike Intel, they don't make boards.  If the board manufactures switch over to BTX then they will want to phase out of ATX boards for all platforms for reasons of economy. Similary, the case manufacturers won't want to make two series of cases for each type, and the retailers won't want to stock both.
[Paranoid On] I think it's a marketing conspiracy. There is no reason they can't mirror the full size BTX board so it will fit in an ATX Tower. [/Paranoid Off]

  • MSI P7N SLI-FI LGA 775 nForce 750i startup booting problems

    Hi there!
My PC is about 1.5 years old.
Now last 3 weeks I'm having some frustrating problem when starting my PC.
Issue: my computer starts now only when there is 2 Gb total memory on motherboard.
If there´s 3 Gb or 4 Gb memory on motherboard, then I won´t even get a Bios startup screen.
(but i can see and heard that PSU and CPU fans are working)
I tried all memory modules on, separately using only one memory module. All memory modules and every slot seems to be ok.
I also try Memtest86 (with one memory module Separately) no errors found.
Motherboard PCI-E slots and graphics card are also ok.
(because my PC works like a charm when there´s only total 2 Gb memory on motherboard)
Why my PC only starts when there´s 2 Gb memory on motherboard?
Any help will be appreciated deeply!

I know the 7600GS doesn't recommend a PSU with a lot of power(15 - 17 A), but you're running two of them in SLI.  Your PSU only has 18A on the +12V rail. This could very well be your issue.  Below are some good single +12V rail PSUs, Corsairs and PC Power & Cooling.  You can also look for Silverstone single rail PSUs, but they tend to be pricier.  If you can't get anything other than split-rail, post back and we'll try to make some recommendations.

  • MSI P4N Diamond, Socket 775 compatibillity

Could anyone please tell if there are any known compatibility issues between a MSI P4N Diamond, Socket 775 motherboard and a PowerColor X800 GTO, 128MB, 256bit video card? I have heard that this video card might have some issues used together with mb based on NVIDIA chipset. Is this true? There some bios updates that can fix such issues? Thnks.

I have sent an e-amil to MSI support and I got this answer:
    dear user :
in this case , we will suggest you to use anlther vga card like X800GT /X850 ,
because the are a few customer reported for these
are some status happen if they hope to enable dual-display feature with X800GTO
+ mainboard based on nvidia chipset , and this
status might happen because there are some resource conflict between the X800GTO
    and them/b bios .

  • Loud Fan noise when using Pentium 4 LGA 775 with 865PE Neo3-F

    Hi,
I have just bought a new Pentium 4 LGA 775 - 2.8A GHz with MSI 865PE Neo3-F motherboard and realized that the fan is simply very very noisy.
When I boot it up, it started with around 2500 RPM and 30C, but soon after I logged into Windows, the fan starts to speed up to 4900 RPM with the CPU temperature at 60C.
I asked my friend who uses the same combination of processor and motherboard, he said his fan only rotates at 3000 RPM, with CPU temperature at 55C, and it is NOT noisy at all.
I have tried CoreCenter and SpeedFan, but none of them can slow down the fan.
Any idea how I can maybe slow down the CPU when I don't need so much power, or slow down the fan?
Is there something wrong with my installation of the CPU Fan maybe?
    Thanks a lot.

its bound to be noisey thrashing round at that speed.
You may want to think about optimizing the CPU coolng with some ducting directly onto the top of the CPU fan.
I presume the heatsink is seated onto the CPU with some thermal compound.
check this thread out for some tips on ducting, and search threads for similar topic

What are the beep codes for the MSI mainboard AMD socket 970A-G46?

Depending on the BIOS version installed, some of them allow POST and USB device count beeps and others don't. Usually a single beep indicates a successful boot.
    It can also mean this;
*1 beep - Refresh failure - (NO VIDEO) memory refresh failure (bad memory)

My 20" 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo had become almost useless due to freezes and crashes- with NO crash reports in the logs.
They were often preceeded by video glitches, so I assumed it was a bad video card- unfortunately soldered to mother board.
Apparently, from forum postings, this is not an uncommon problem. The computer would run longer if the day was cooler, but rarely more than 10 minutes, so I suspected it was aggravated by heat.
Then I found this post from Bodomann on an Apple Support forum:
"Following up on my previous posting regarding my son's late model 2006 iMac that required a $900 logic board replacement:
Turns out the problem is apparently related to a bad CPU temp sensor. I installed 'iMac Fan Control' (Google it) which reported the CPU temp always at 32 degrees Fahrenheit (obviously incorrect). The same software allowed me to adjust the CPU fan manually. After multiple trials I set the CPU speed to 2800RPM after which the system would run forever - never freezing with the dreaded grey box 'reboot me' screen. I tried several times reverting the software to default speeds and the system would always crash within 10 minutes. "
I downloaded free Fan Control 1.2 for Imac from Derman Enterprises (they have an Intel iMac and a Mac Book/Pro version). It installs as a system preferences control panel. I cranked up all three fan speeds. The fans sped up noticeably. Horizontal lines have gone from screen (so far), no color artifacts and no crashes yet. I may have a real computer back! Hope Apple checks this out-
The control panel also gives the temps sensors are reporting at the CPU, hard drive and DVD drive. The CPU sensor reports the CPU temp as 32 degrees F- which is clearly wrong, unless Apple has been installing little refrigerators inside.
So thanks to Bodomann for posting- Hats off and three cheers to Derman and Cristoph for source code.

I've been using this board for about a week now. It is rock solid which I really like, but it is a poor overclocker. I can't get past 1500 FSB no matter what I try... So, if your not into overclocking, you'll most probably love the board. But hey, it still overclocks and maybe you'll be satisfied by it. :P
For my E4300, this board is a great overclocker. I've currently got the chip running just north 3300MHz from it's default of 1800MHz with no stability issues.
However, like Tyrant said above, there are holes in the FSB that can make certain ranges on certain C2D chips hard to get working.
Research the C2D chip you want to run, and if you need to overclock at FSB speeds higher than 1500, go with a 680i or the Intel 965 chipset.
    Good luck!

  • MSI P7N SLI-FI LGA 775 nForce 750i booting problem and error message

Got this board a week ago and I'm having some issues with booting-sometimes. I power it on and it just hangs there doesn't do noting. I hit the restart button and it powers on, but gives me a red letter error message that "previous overclocking has failed and settings were restored to default". But I never overclocked it. The settings were at default in the first place. After it boots and goes into Windows I have no problem at all, works great. But as soon as I reboot it i hangs again until I restart it or power it off. I tried different power options in the bios, but I get the same problem. I checked the MSI web site for BIOS update but there isn't any. So if somebody knows a solution to this problem let me know. Thanks.

I know the 7600GS doesn't recommend a PSU with a lot of power(15 - 17 A), but you're running two of them in SLI.  Your PSU only has 18A on the +12V rail.
