MSI 9800 PRO - Theatre Clone mode Not Active!!!

Hi...
MY monitor is wide and icons  seems on TV when i drag them to the right side..so I want to activate Theatre Clone MOde .but it is inactive....
How wil i activate?

What Bas said about 30+ amps on the 12v rail does have merit. Even if you don't use it now there may come a time when you want to upgrade the system and certainly you won't want to buy yet another PSU then. A High end vid card now takes almost as much as the CPU to operate. Now days the 12v rail is the most important. Past systems regulated everything off the 5v railk and 12v was used mostly for powering drive motors. Now though the MB's use the 12v line to regulate all the voltages for the CPU, Chipset and other features as does the Vid cards. 3.3 volt lines are used for memory so we hardly use any 5v nowdays.
You have an older viod card and that does not eat much 12v but if you upgrade the most likely peice will be the vid card. You could go through this whole thing all over again if you are not careful to plan for that now with a new PSU purchase.
If the computer shop gives you a bunch of bull about power needs havbe them stop by the forum and we can help set them straight on this. There is more than enough data from MSI and historical data here that suggests that 16a on the 12v rail is certainly not enough. Hey I am not trying to sell you anything. I am just trying to help you get it right. The computer shop is the one trying to sell you something we just feel they are selling the wrong junk.

  • K8NNeo2Plat (bios v1.8) + 9800 PRO = 4x AGP and not 8x?

    Hello
My K8N Neo2 Plat (bios v1.8) + 9800 PRO = 4x AGP and not 8x (even with bios setting set to AGP 4x8x, fast writes enabled)?
I am using the latest ATI 5.6 driver but my MSI fails to allow the AGP card to boot up at 8x (only 4x).
Q1) Should I roll back my BIOS to 1.5?
Q2) What is the best BIOS for the MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum?
    Any ideas?

fyi, I think I found the problem when in Battlefield2 automatically started to lag (then die)after 10 mins LAN play.
My 9800 Pro (AGP) was dropping back to 4x (or even 1x AGP) at boot and I assume when I was playing a Battlefield2 multiplayer levels for 10 mins+ the texture cache was too much for my 9800 pro card and it had to swap to main memory via AGP 1x or 4x (killing my fps).
I have found our that the latest ATI driver uses a new method of testing your card's reliability and speed called 'GART'. Nvidia's first implementation of 'GART' was not compatible (BSOD) with an MSI K8N Neo2 Plat or XP SP2 so I have never installed the nvidia GART driver (as suggested be many)
Well the new ATI drivers (cat 5.5) need the GART software to read the BIOS '8x AGP' and 'AGP Fast Writes' values.  If the GART software (mainboard driver) is not detected the ATI drivers disables the 8x AGP and Fast Writes  and drops back to compatibility mode.
I installed the GART software tonight (120k file) and bingo, all is well and even my 3d benchmarks are up 25%.
Who would have thought that a video card driver needed a software driver to read BIOS values that have been able to read OK on other video cards since the dawn of time.
I will never buy an ATI video card again.

  • MSI 9800 PRO Display problems on my TV

Hi. i use MSI 9800 PRO R360. when i want to watch my desktop on both my MOnitör and Tv There is only seems my desktop scene. when i put the icons on right part on monitör with mouse , icons seems on Tv From left. and icons seems only on Tv now not on monitor... i hope you understood me.what is the problem?

Check if you are "extending" or "cloning" your video, probably the first one (gives you extra deskto space, instead of a replica of your monitor on tv.)
A question: My tv output sucks, it's too dark, and I have no brightness controls in my control panel (for the tv). ¿any workarounds?

  • Safe O/C for MSI 9800 Pro

I would like to know with your experiencie with the msi 9800 pro, what is safe with the stock cooling to o/c this card?
Now I have it mine in 411.75/364.50 (XT speeds), no artifacts in 3dmarks 01 and 03.
I run the Atitool when I bought it, and gave me the range 453/369. But I don't dare to keep it o/ced at this speeds.
    Regards

I DONT GIVE A   but thanks for the warning.
if i break my card due to overclocking i go to the store and will probably have a new card on my way home.
i used my head when i bought it so i went to a store i know is good but they are a bit more expensive than others.
and putting heatsink on the memory chips will void warranty if the store decides so.

    why only 364.50 memory speed?
mine is 378 stock and can go up to 410 or something.

  • MSI X58 Pro: HDD LED does not work for S-ATA drive

    Hi,
I've got a problem with my brand new MSI X58 Pro: I've got an S-ATA HDD (Samsung 640GB) and an S-ATA DVD drive (Pioneer) installed in a Compucase 6X Miditower. There is NO(!) IDE drive. I don't get the HDD LED to work! I've tried everything including a BIOS update to 7.1 - the LED stays out.
I found some reports in the internet from people having a similar problem: no HDD LED for S-ATA drive activity.
Is there anybody else having this problem? Isn't that possible in general? Is that a problem of the board? The HDD drive?
    Greetings,
    Michael

You are talking about the status LED on your case, right?
    - Is it properly connected to the right pins on the correct header?
    - Double-check for +/- pins and make sure the plug is not connected the wrong way.
    - Make sure, the LED is not defective.
    - Make sure the cables are not defective.
    - Make sure there is no problem with the pin-plug to the board.

  • Sleep Mode Not Activating?

Hi everybody, I was perplexed to find that when sleep mode was activated nothing happened except for the monitor going blank. When I manually choose sleep mode I see the little white light pulsate and when I wake it up I hear the CD drive spin up. However, when I use the automatic go to sleep after 3 minutes of idle time or whatever... the light doesn't pulsate and it doesn't seem to be in sleep mode. Is their something that I am not seeing, or is their something interfering with sleep mode I am not sure! I am pretty good with apples, and the fact that I cannot figure out such a basic topic is frustrating. Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

However, when I use the automatic go to sleep after 3 minutes of idle time or whatever... the light doesn't pulsate and it doesn't seem to be in sleep mode.
Try setting the time higher and see if that helps, say 10-15 min.

  • K8N Dual video MSI 7900GS OC non-SLI mode not working.

Now, I installed two MSI 7900GS OC and the second card is ignored. That little SLI - nonSLI mode board that we have to switch around is in nonSLI mode. The video cards don't have the SLI card installed between them. I just want to run separate displays. The device manager sees only one video card.
Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

I would have suggested that if I saw your message earlier, but I'm glad you solved it.

  • Torch 9800 - Mobile Data and BIS not activated - Mail & Browse fail, Opera Mini is slow and MSN and Yahoo go in timeout

    I have a BB Torch 9800 with OS 6.0 Bundle 2534
I had a contract with the Mobile Operator including the Data Package and everything was working fine, I have access to the mail through BIS, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger was working Ok, as far as Whatsup. Also the Browser was working Ok.
When I was on roaming I have settled “Roaming Off” in “Mobile Network Options” to just use Internet over Wi-Fi when I was under the Wi-Fi coverage.
Then I’ve decided to migrate the contract to “Recharchable” and also decided to dismiss the Data Packet because of cost limitations. Now I have BIS in “not connected” state.
Problem now is that I cannot get the apps working when connected to any Wi-Fi AP.
Mail is not working. MSN & Yahoo returns the message “Unable to find the requested server” when attempting to login. The Browse is also not working and only Opera Mini seems to work but it takes several minutes to build a page.
I’ve also tried to ping the AP and it rarely succeed, sometimes all attempts are failing, sometimes one attempt succeed.
It seems to my eyes that there is a terribly big delay and some applications (except mail and browse that shows not to work) go in timeout with the message previously described.
I’m not sure whether BIS access or no access is influencing the BB behavior with a Wi-Fi connection and making dramatically slower.
The BB connects at Layer 1 with the AP because I can see the BB MAC address at the AP’s menu. I’ve tried also with DHCP Client and Manual IP configuration, no way.
I’ve found at http://forums.crackberry.com/general-blackberry-discussion-f2/unable-find-requested-server-bb-9330-a... that it could be a bug in the 6.0.
I’ve searched tons of forum postings and it seems no one has the clue of this problem. Unfortunately the Torch 9800 cannot be upgraded to the 7.x. this is really bad as it seems I have purchased a “dead” mobile phone.
Of course I’ve tried with lots a different Aps. I’m a technician and I think I’ve done a proper troubleshooting before to come to this conclusion.
Anyone has an update about this problem or, I have no other chance than throwing away this phone and purchase a nice Samsung Note II hopping not be blocked with another unexpected showstopper.
    Thanks in advance.

The only two options available to you are adding BIS to your plan or continue using Opera which works outside of BIS (the BlackBerry browser does not).
    Cheers.

  • Msi 9800 pro memory

    Hello,
I have been looking to upgrade my graphics card and was wondering if anyone knew what memory was used on this card, IE 2.5 or 2.8 samsung or the like?
    thanks

    Sure they did (here)
Since it's originally an OEM product it would be pretty safe to assume they kept it cheap.

  • ATI 9800 pro RMA'D got MSI 9800pro

My ATI Radeon 9800 Pro died about 4 months after I got it, so I RMA'D to ATI and they sent me back what I thought was an ATI 9800 pro, but after using live update to check for mobo updates, found out it was a MSI 9800 pro. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I noticed that I had a problem with my games lagging, momentary freezes and overall poorer performance than my original card. I have tried the latest drivers from ATI and went back to before the control panel(hate it) I think it's version 8. I tried calling ATI and they sd RMA dept would call me back..that was 2 days ago..will call again tomorrow. In the meantime...any ideas??

    Well partly
MSI is now selling ATI cards. there was only one ATI card in MSI's lineup until about 3 months ago.
They were manufacturing the 9800 pro (green card) for Medion PC in the UK and then started selling them in the retail market. Now that card is actually being phased out of production I believe. You now see the red 9800 with the ATI reference cooler. They are one and the same. MSI just rebrands them and sells them with thier own packaging and label. ATI has a strict QC policy so it's a standard BIOS. I'm assuming since MSI has to keep the Live Update utility current, it's going to recognize that card.
I could be really off base and the RMA department in Canada is working with MSI in RMA's and some chap had too many beers for lunch and got them messed up.
Sometimes the manufacturer will modify the BIOS for reasons like different RAM packages but I don't think MSI is making those cards atm.
I take it this is a Red PCB?

  • [Radeon] 9800 Pro crashes all the time

I took my friends MSI 9800 pro, which is the one that shows up as a 9800 xt in windows xp. I have a soyo k7VME motherboard. I installed the card, installed the newest catalyst drivers, and then installed BF2. I fire it up, single player works fine, so I play multiplayer. It runs great for 5-10 minutes and then freezes, my screen goes crazy and I have to restart. I thought it was a PSU problem at first, because I only had a 350watt with  12v@16A, so I upgraded to a 450 watt with 12v@30A... I figured the problem would go away, but no it still crashes, and not just in BF2. CS:Source crashes too, after running fine for about 20 minutes. It just freezes, the sound starts glitching. Next I thought it was overheating. The card kind of felt hot to the touch, so I put a 20 inch desk fan next to my case and brought the case temp down to about 35 degrees, cpu is running at about 50, celcius (amd xp 3000+). I don't have the card overclocked or anything, and it ran find in my friends computer, but he never really stressed it and only had agp 4x. Last I thought it was a driver problem, so I reformatted XP and installed fresh drivers. First I tried MSI's drivers, then the latest catalysts, then the catalysts before the latest. Still crashes, I don't think its a heat problem and my motherboard worked fine with my old Geforce 4 Ti 4600. I have no idea whats wrong now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This card ran fine before in my friends Dell, and I ran a geforce 4 ti 4600 in this same pc with a crappy PSU before.

I'm using an Aspire Concord 450watt PSU, supposed to have 30A on the 12V line... I just bought it, and I'm thinking about RMAing it because 11.36 isn't cutting it.
And there is no problem with my cpu, its been running this hot for a year and its expected, I have a small microATX case with bad airflow, but I've confirmed that it isnt a cooling problem on the 9800 pro. I took off the case door and put a 20 inch desk fan next to it and tried it on high, and this was after I took the card apart and applied some arctic silver 5 to the GPU. Still crashed, and the case and CPU temp dropped a massive amount because of the huge fan. I've reformatted about 5 times now, installed fresh drivers, done everything I can think to do. Last straw I'm going to test it in a friends PC who has an identical card, and if it crashes there I'm gonna RMA this power supply.
I'm thinking its a bad card though, its about a year old and I've read the capacitors on the MSI cards are flimsy compared to other versions of the 9800 pro.

  • How To Check The Core Chipset in my MSI 9800 ?

    Hi,
    Can Anybody help please?
    ====================================================
I live in Israel . Everybody in the professional forums here know the "miracle" of your MSI 9800 PRO Core . = It suppose to be the R360(9800 XT's Core) instead of the R350(the normal 9800 PRO's Core) . Now, I saw screenshots in forums taken by the owners of these cards (9800PRO) which actually showed in R360 Core inside, it's also was written on the Core itself when removing the heatsink !
BUT, What I've got was the same card, a R360 note on the core, but the problem was that NONE of the programs I tried (Sisoft Sandra,Everest,Aida32,Drivers properties)- None of them recognized it as the R360-(XT), but as the regular R350-(PRO) only! ! !
    ========================================================
After many talking with the local dealer he suggested to replace it, but asked me to seek the reply of you as the prove that I've tried everything I can to try and Identify the CORE and that that it's not an R360 . . .but a R350 ! ! !

There is no official Tech Support here.
Suggestions on posting and getting better answers
You will have to contact your local MSI office directly, either via e-mail or by telephone.
You say you have looked at the actual chip onboard YOUR card and it says the R360? Can you take a picture of the card?
The newer red PCB cards have only the 350 core. It's the green one's that supposedly had the XT core.
I suspect even though the card is labled as a pro, a batch may have been made with the XT core becasue the 350 was not available. The card was not advertised as an XT so if you get an XT, that is great, if not, then you got what you paid for anyway...unfortunately.

  • Optimal settings for 9800 PRO

Does anyone know the BEST settings for a 9800 Pro. I do not want to get a program to OC it. I just would rather change the settings than use a program. So if anyone knows what the BEST settings or know of a site that tells you the BEST settings for a 9800 Pro, I would appreciate it very much if you were to tell me.  Thanks.

try rage 3d tweak...it has an overclocker too, but you dont have to use it, and it practically gives you full control over the cards settings.
