MSI 990FXA-GD65 No Monitor Signal - Help Please!

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and new to building too, so go easy
I've just put together a newly built computer, but i've been stuck on an issue i cant figure out for the last two days. I get no signal to any form of monitor i plug in. The mother board powers up, the graphics card and every thing else including fans, all power up, i get the 8 phase lights come on in blue on the motherboard, however i get a no signal on any monitor i try.
I have read through so posts and tried most things suggested, including, booting from 1 ram in the first slot, traying a different graphics card that i know works (did that and still no signal), rebuilding the setup again. nothing works.
When i turn it on it does make 2 quick little beep noises? it does this as it starts up. Find below a list of parts i've used:
MSI990FXA-GD65 Motherboard
Asus 7770 HD 2GB GDDR5 1020MHz Graphics Card
AMD FX  3.5GHz 14.mb Black Edition Processor
Corsair CX600M PSU
Crucial Ballistix 2x8GB Tactical PC3 Ram
Anybody able to offer some advice? Otherwise i cant think of anything to do but try a different mother board.
Thanks,
Ethan.

On the box that the board came in-Can you tell me what the S/N Number is?
should be a set of numbers---601-7640-110B1209066693..
That will tell us what bios you might have on this...
If I am guessing by what you put in your first post you have a fx 6300 vishera?
let me know
601-7640-100B1303048283 I cant see anything t5has says vishera, how would i find out?

Try each stick of ram alone then each in different ram slots. Make sure to clear the CMOS each time.
If that is of no help, try a different type of ram.
2 beeps = ram issue
Which CPU do you have exactly?
I have, no luck, made sure the power was off when i cleared CMOS as well.  Is it likely both ram sticks are damaged? Or is it indicating there could be an issue on the mobo with the ram brackets?

  • MSI 990FXA-GD65 + AMD FX-6300 + 16GB 1866MHz RAM Won't Boot

    Hello,
Today I received parts for my new gaming system (sans water cooler, using the stock heatsink+fan until then), however I'm experiencing problems with the setup.  The specs are as follows:
    - MSI 990FXA-GD65
    - AMD FX-6300 CPU
    - GSKILL 16GB (2x8GB) 1866MHz DDR3 RAM
    - Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB SSD
    - 2x MSI GeForce GTX 660 Ti
    - EVGA NEX750B1 PSU
    - BitFenix Comrade case
Upon powering on (after assembly), the Phase Indicator only has the first two LEDs lit up (Phase 2 Power Mode, according to the manual).  No output is displayed on screen.  I've tried removing and re-inserting the CPU and removing one of the graphics cards, to no avail.
I would appreciate any help/advise that could be offered, that I might get this system up and running!
    Kind Regards

Try to run this system out of the case on non conductive area (e.g. plain cardboard) with 1 stick of RAM only, 1 GPU (try without any graphics cards too), single HDD/SSD, PSU of course, CPU+cooler and monitor+keyboard and mouse. When booting spam Delete and it should take you to the BIOS where you have to change timings of RAM suggested in the post about GSkill memory.
If possible, borrow different brand of RAM to test your PC with.
Make sure that if you're running single GPU, that video cable is connected to the card. If no GPU, then to the motherboard.

I use PCI-E 1x-16x and 16x-16x risers, also tried to short pins responbile for graphic card detection.
    Win 7 64-bit , tried Catalyst 13.1, 13.4 , power supply Lepa 1600W, CPU Sempron x2 190, 2GB RAM
    Please help with this issue.

You have already been advised using more graphics cards than what is supported is not going to work. That is a user to user support answer that was provided. This is not MSI but a user to user forum of MSI products. MSI is not involved here, and the opinions & statements here are not connected to them in any official manner. Your question has been answered. This thread should now probably be locked.

  • MSI 990fxa-gd65 new build won't boot or post

Hi, any help with this issue would be most appreciated
I have just built a new system spec below:
    MSI 990fxa-gd65
    AMD FX8350
    2 x 4GB Hyper X fury DDR3 1866Mhz RAM
    MSI GTX960 Graphics card
    1TB WD HDD
Corsair HX1000w (recovered from an older machine and in full working order)
Unit powers ok, all fans are running, HD, Graphics card fans run and lights up DVD drive spins up OK too.
Motherboard has two cpu phase lights lit. There is no post beeps or video out.
I've tried it with a single stick of memory and a different lower spec video card but nothing seems to work. Some posts are suggesting the CPU may not be supported with the MoBo's current version of bios so questions are:
How can I find out the bios version and if it is compatible as it doesn't reach the bios screen?
If it needs updating how do you update it?

    Hi,
Post S/N of the motherboard and we are able to tell you (roughly) which BIOS version it has.
What if you try without graphics card?
Did you try to clear CMOS? --> >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
If it needs updating, you will either need:
    -Supported CPU by current BIOS
-SPI programmer (some IT services has one)

  • MSI 990FXA-GD65 revision

    in what difference of revision 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 MSI 990FXA-GD65 ?

I think it only depends on the BIOS version with which was the motherboard released.

There really isn't any workaround to the cost. You can't get the parts needed to fix it yourself. Only Apple has those parts and they do not sell them to end users.
Sure you could take it apart and clean everything and the screen might start working again but then it might not. Depending on what cause it to stop working in the first place. Like something got shorted out.

    What have you bought?
What model Mac are you running?
What input sources are available on the display you are connecting it to?

  • Msi 990fxa-gd65 vrm burned , refused rma :(

Hello firstly a happy x-mas to everyone
Let me state my story i bought msi 990fxa-gd65 and amd fx-8120 bulldozer cpu a few weeks back.
i installed it and it ran was very happy for 2 days , then it happened... , seems the vrm's burned !
let me explain you why i think was a faulty board.
when it did ran it gave 1.37volts to cpu at idle , stock 3.1ghz turbo disabled, was all ready high for me , but i thought i will try newer bios later , as wanted to play some bf3.
then i just ran 5min to see if all my memory is working , with blend test, and msi board gave 1.48 volts to cpu all stock settings nothing changed in bios except memory settings o.0
1.48 was why to high looking at other reports etc.
so when in bios to change last setting on my memory , and boom did not boot, try booting it few times, and boom there was smoke , vrms blown , without the pc even booting .
so it seems board and cpu died, they rma the cpu but the board they refused to.
the retail store told me they tried there best and only way i can get rma is with rma number from msi, i logged ticket on msi website no reply yet, hoping this post will get me a reply.
    CPU: fx8120 with noctua d14
    Motherboard: 990fxa-gd65
    RAM: ripjaws x 4gbx2
    Video: hd 6870 hawk
HDD: ocz vertex 2 100gb and few 1tb's
Operating system: windows 7 ultimate 64bit
    PSU: corsair hx750

ive seen allot of people online getting a rma for vrm's burned , just hope i can get one also :(

  • New 2.66Ghz 12-core Mac Pro - Two LaCie 730 Monitor Problems - Help Please

    Hello:
I just got a new 12-core machine with the 5870 video card to power two LaCie 730 (30" LCD) monitors which give 125% of Adobe 1998. I do a lot of photo editing and want to use the 2560x1600 resolution on the 730. The monitor connected to the DVI port works and looks great. The other monitor, connected to a Mini-Display port only gives me 1280x800, which looks pretty crappy on 30".
Is there a solution to my problem? I thought the 5870 would power two displays like this.
Any help greatly appreciated as I am a photographer and not a computer expert.
    Cheers,
    Mike

be sure the USB dongle is plugged in
The adapter is an active adapter and needs power from USB to work
Unfortunately, we are once again having the future forced down our throats whether we are ready or not.
The legacy DVI component of DP is of the single link variety, hence the 1280x800. Best it will do is 1920x1200 when you use a passive adapter. It is passing through a signal generated on the card. The spec only allows for single link support via this pass through.
DO PC users have same issue? Yes and no. I got my first 5870 when they were hot new thing, nearly a year ago. I was eager to try Eyefinity. Through a painful learning process I discovered that 5870 could generate 2 DVI signals. DVI clock signal comes from card, DP clock is from display. The 3rd signal HAD to be a genuine DP signal. If you look in the forum posts of nearly a year ago you will see quite a bit of whining as PC folk realized that they needed an active adapter to run 3 @ DVI displays. I was one of first to reason that Apple's DUal Link adapter would do this. Worked great, I played various PC games in wrap around beauty with help of Apple's MDP to Dual Link adapter.
Fast forward to today. Since Apple has turned one of the PC card's DVI ports into an MDP port, to run 2 DVIs of greater than 1920x1200 res is going to need one of these adapters. To run 3 is going to require 2. So, easier to buy a 27" MDP display, it won't need an adapter.

  • SPAN monitor source -help please

    Hi,
I have two CAT 3560s at the edge of my network and they are sitting between my two edge routers, Visco 2621, one active and the other shadow and the PIXs, 4 of them. Two PIXs and the active router connect to the fisrt 3560 and the second router and the other two pixs connect to the second 3560 switch.
I have done local SPAN as follow:
    LanEdge-SW-6#sh monitor se 1
    Session 1
    Type : Local Session
    Source Ports :
    Both : Gi0/11
    Destination Ports : Gi0/13
    Encapsulation : Native
    Ingress : Disabled
the question is: if I connect the cable comming from my active edge router to the source port on the 3560, then I don't have Internet connection but if I leave the source port unlugged (nothing pluged in it) and connect the cable comming from my active router toi other ports (except the destination port which connected to a hub and then to my IDSs) then I have Interrnet connection>
is this how it should be? the local SPAN source port must be empty with nothing plug in it?
    Please help clartify this.
    Thx,
    Masood

    hello everyone,
I want to thank all of you who took the time to try to help me withthis issue.
what I finally did, i put the switches back to the factory default and started to re-configure the switches from scratch, in doing that, I did a "shut" under VLAN 1 (the default VLAN) and set up the local momnitoring sessions and that did the tick.
my border router is now connected to the monitor source and thedestination to mymonitoring HUB coinnecting to my VMS and Stealthwatch for monitoring all the public traffic.
here how it was connected or is connected.
two border routers, one active and the other shadow, active connected to one 3560 along with my prim PIX and the other router to my second 3560 along with my two othet pixs (sewcondary and two pix for a whole different subnet - isolated fro mmy main subnets).
the switches are suppose to do only switching connecting inside private network to the outside public (i.e. the routers.), the PIX is set to make that decision.
I have one port, namely int gi0/1 configured to be on VLAN 2 (my main VLAN) and made the accesss vlan 2 and mode to access and coonneced that port to my main network for managemnet of the switch but the rest of the iterfaces are factory default.
I don't know if i was able to explain correctly but by reconfiguring and doing "shut" under VLAN 1 interface, I ws able to connect my border router bcable to the port configured as source and the destination to my HUB and all is working now.
just wanted to let you guys know what happend at the end of this delima.
    Thx,
    Masood
