MSI A75MA-P35 (MS 7697) With AMD ATHLON II QUADCORE - Several Beeps

Hi,
I´ve just monted an MSI A75MA-P35 (MS 7697) with a AMD ATHLON II QUADCORE (2.6), and at this time i´ve several beep codes (1 long + 2 shorts).
I´m using AMD Memory (1 slot, 4 Gb, pc3 - 12800 1600mhz, CL9 - 1.5V), that´s all i´ve connected/mounted.
ps - i´m using an Advance Power Supply with 480W.
Any ideas about this?
Regards,

what's the exact CPU model?
PSU details?
VGA used?
memory details? brand, vendor, ECC?
And...? Does the system boots and works fine?
CPU - AMD ATHLON II X4 631  AD631XWNGXBOX
PSU - ADVANCE 5100S - 480W
VGA - ONBOARD
MEMORY - AMD MEMORY (1 slot, 4 Gb, pc3 - 12800 1600mhz, CL9 - 1.5V) AE34G1609U2
... and doesn´t boot at all.

So I built this PC for my grandmother in 2012 and everything has worked flawlessly until this past week; she said the screen went black and a sound came on, so I logged into her PC through teamviewer and the screen would change resolutions every 3 seconds on my end, I was able to update everything (tedious I must say).
Still no video. So I brought her PC over here and tested it with my monitor; no joy on the DVI port, intermittent on the VGA so I did some cleanup in safe mode and then booted it up on VGA and it was working fine. Hooked it up for her; was working fine, then over night same problem appeared.
I do not have a second CPU to test with, but the CPU is actually working (because I can connect through TeamViewer). I'm honestly thinking the board has issues, it's still under warranty, but I wanted to come here and see if anyone else has had similar problems.
Though if I throw an FM2 board in there with a new FM2 APU, do I have to do a clean install on Windows (yes I know you should when you change hardware); I just want to make this as minimal hassle as possible.
    Further notes:
    No POST beeps
Everything seems to be working fine just no video.
DVI port is hard to connect (bent - though I don't know if it's a factory defect)

Since the screen is black when connected to DVI before Windows even starts booting, I would say what it isn't a Windows issue. I thus highly doupt what a re-install would fix it.

From the sound of it, it sounds like the motherboard (or APU) is unable to detect the Screen frequency & resolution, causing it to try different ones (thus the swapping).

Might be damaged, that could explain the issue. First see if you can find any visible signs of damage. Then check for broken pins being stuck or bent pins on the cable. Might need to get the board replaced or repaired, however check if any of the mods have anything to say about it first.

If you creat a signature (in profile) it will save you having to type your spec's  out each time or us looking for it. Use mine as a template.
What PSU are you using ? Can you list the power output ? (writen on side of psu)
Going from your specs you listed your graphics card is very hungery on power so I would suggest your psu isn't up to the job under load.
Post the spec and we will know for sure.

  • MSI K8N Neo4 FI Compatible with AMD 3800+ X2?

    I just bought:
    MSI K8N Neo4 FI
    AMD Athlon 64 3800+ X2
    Gainwood 7800GT Golden Sample
    hec Pb-480PB 480W
Problem is that i don't get a picture when i start the computer.
Everything seems to work, all the cables are plugged in.
The gfx has power from the cable.
Can it be that the motherboard dosen't recognize the CPU, and that won't give my a picture?
    Help would be appreciated.

That should be enough to start the computer. It has two +12V rails, which are of good enough ampage.
Now it looks to me like it needs a newer BIOS version to recognise the CPU.
See: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/bios/bos/spt_bos_detail.php?UID=651&kind=1 I think this is your motherboard?!
You'll need another A64 CPU to flash the BIOS though.
Just to settle akhille's mind, you could also try a better PSU.

  • KM4M-v with AMD Athlon XP 1500+ wont boot.

ok... this seems to be semi common, and yes i checked the PSU, ram, hdd, cpu seating, cooler seating.. etc etc.  im stumpped.

    CPU:
    AMD Athlon XP 1500+
New thermal coumpound, triple checks seating, and cooler seating.
tryed with one stick of ram, both sticks,
Tryed with no HDD both HDD(sepparatly and together)
    Tryed with floppy Diconnected.
tryed with NO drives at all.
i have tryed everything i can think of.  this machine refuses to boot. the PSU is 45 min old.  this is the third PSU i have tryed.  all in varying strengths.  including the 450 PSU from the fisrts system in my sig.  all to no avail.  when i hit the power button on the front all that happens iss the CPU fan spins up and dies, the PSU fan does the same, and then the machine dies.  the mouse, and KB LED's stay lit as if it was in stand-by.  there ane NO PCI cards installed, no AGP.  im at my wits end.        HELP!!!!

Stay lit, but no way you (can) reach BIOS? Do you know how to clear CMOS? Perhaps it is looking for a PS2 mouse or keyboard, some booting device, or something completely different. Don't forget to pull power cable if you clear CMOS.
I guess you have checked for visible damage to the mobo, extra stand-offs behind it, and loose connections already.
If above doesn't work, the next step for me would be to reseat the processor. And next to dump the mobo.
Edit: Of course, the processor must also be controlled or tried in another system.
Yes no extra stand offs, and the board looks to be in perfect shape.  came like it is... and the connections are firmly seated. hdd, power etc, all firmly plugged in.
happen to know if the 1500+ wprks on the k7n2 delta2 platinum?
only other AMD board in the house.
*Edit* Cpu seems to be fried, turns out my son got to more than just the old mobo.  the cpu is an amd athlonXP 1700+ based on the numbers on the chip.  and yes it does work with a K7N2 Delta2 Platinum. and no my CPU does not work.  thanks for the time and extra eyes.

  • MSI A75MA-P35 DDR3-1866 support?

    Hi,
I'm interested in an A75MA-P35. Unfortunately, the website and manual say it only supports DDR3-1600 whereas the "little brother" (A55MA-P35) and basicly all other mainboards with FM1 support DDR3-1866.
Is this a mistake or does the A75MA-P35 really not support DDR3-1866?
    Thanks in advance!

The memory controller is built into the CPU so that determines what speed RAM is supported.
Now that you mention it, it's pretty obvious. Guess I'm getting too old for this stuff.

  • MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum compatible with AMD 5400+ BLack Edition???

I looked at MSI's chart, the AMD 5400+ BLack Edition was NOT listed, yet the 5000+ BE was.  To further confuse me, I read all of newegg's review for this board, 1 user was running a AMD 5400+ BLack Edition on it.  Can someone please confirm?  Thanks!!!

I can confirm that this CPU does work with this board.  I have asked this question to MSI Online Customer Service about a week ago and this was their response:
    Dear xxxxx,
Thanks for contacting MSI Technical Support Team!
Regarding your concern, yes, both your ADO5400DSWOF & ADO5000DSWOF are supported by this mainboard.

  • K9N4 SLI with AMD Athlon 6400+ X2 - Damage to CPU???

Hello everybody...I have a very quick question.  I purchase an AMD Ahtlon 6400+ X2 processor and the MSI K9N4 SLI motherboard not knowing that they are incompatible.  I didn't find this out until I had  installed the CPU, RAM and PCI-E video card, powered up and didn't get a boot or POST.  It's alittle frustrating and I've made arrangements to swap the motherboard for one that is compatible.  However my concern here is any damage that may have occurred to the processor in doing this.  Does anyone know whether this would have caused any permanent damage to the CPU or any other component?  Any response would be very much appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Just to let you know, i too made the same mistake back in February 2008.  i got the same board and the same processor and it also would not boot.  However, luckily I did have my old processor to got back to and i installed it and then I flashed the BIOS to 1.4 and then reinstalled the 6400 CPU.  I have been running my PC for nearly a year now and have had no problems.  So I doubt it caused any damage.

  • MSI K8N 2 NEO Platinum with AMD 4200+ X2 Machine Check Exception

    Greetings,
I recently bought a 4200+ x2 and when i replaced my Venice 3500+ by it i get a Machine Check Exception when windows xp Professionnel is about to load. But when i go back to my Venice everything working properly. any ideas what could cause such a trouble?
my PSU is a ANTEC 550W, i don't think i'm in need of any more power and more i got it recently, so it's almost new and never got problem with it before.
    thanks.

I think that you have to cleanly reinstall your Windows XP Pro operating system for it to recognize consistently dual core cpu.  What bios do you use?  Does CPU-Z say that you have one processor or two in Processor Selection at bottom of CPU Tab?  Good luck.

  • Does the MSI FM2-A55M-E33 work with AMD A10 6800K ?

So I am trying to build my own pc. I don't want my money to be wasted so asking you will it work ?
Do I need to update bios for that ?
I researched about it on the internet. It said that these fm2 boards (except the latest one) do not support richland series. They only support those trinity series. For richland, they need to update their bios. So do I need to do that for this thing? If yes, how do I do that ? Would the system turn on without those bios ? (asking because if it will turn on, then I could update bios from this website. But will it turn on without the bios?) I am totally confused. And also this is my first time building a pc. Please Help

On some boards it is possible without (on some it won't even post). The board will then post but show a message about a non supported Richland cpu being used and that an update is required (board will be stuck in such message loop).
Now one can take a bootable DOS USB stick and put the bios update .exe on it you extracted from this archive: http://www.msi.com/service/download/bios-22557.html
Then enter the bios, go to save and exit and select your USB stick in the boot override section. The system will now boot from the USB stick and you're able to run the .exe
Remember: Go to save and exit and at the boot override choose the bootable USB stick. This will exit the bios and the system will boot from the device you selected. Otherwise you will get back to the message loop.
If the board doesn't post this trick is not possible. Either you need a trinity cpu then to update to a Richland supporting bios or ask MSI/a pc-shop to flash it

  • Acquiring an Acer - Laptop with AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core Processor - Blue

Hey guys, I live down in Rowlett, Texas (near Dallas), and am trying to find one of these laptops.  Unfortunately, none of the nearby stores have available units.  I heard that I could request one to be sent to a store, but I wanted to see if anyone here had anything to say about trying to get one of these.
    Thanks,
    theDGs

Its usually the nearby stores that make the exception, if its a whole other county that can be tricky.

    hey hello there
Here is my question I m planning to buy msi 6712 KT4AV with amd athlon 2500 (333mhz 512 kb)
Is mainboard a good choose??? Can I overclock it and run like 2400-2500 mhz...
please help me because 1 m Planning to buy it today..

    Hi........
    Hope its not to later..........
The KTV4A is the newer version of the KTV4 with the only real change being the 400A chipset on the newer board, as for overclocking this and its earlier brother were made for it with settings for the cpu range from 100-0299
If asked I would say go for the earlier version as this board does not have the issues that the newer board appears to be suffering (KT7A anyone?).
    Hope it helps
