does this mean if you use another video card you can boot fine?
or entire computer can't boot no matter what you've tried so far?

    Hello!
Rebooting my laptop reached the MSI logo and the process stopped. It was not responding.  I rebooted again, but it did not help. I pulled out a BIOS battery . The same.
    Then I tried to do:
1.I disconnected a BIOS battery for 15 minutes
2.I changed Hard Disk for another.
3.I changed the RAM  for another.
4.I removed planes of wi-fi and the modem
5.I held 5 minutes without a battery and net.
    Also I did the next:
1.I disconnect the power cord from the laptop a and pull out the storage battery.
2.I place file BIOS under the name E163AIMS.ROM in the root catalogue of a floppi-disk.
    3. I connect the floppi drive USB to the laptop port USB.
    4. Connect a cord from the food adapter to the laptop (the battery it is not necessary to attach)
    5. Include the laptop, having pressed the button of power and wait for 10 minutes - restoration BIOS should begin in 5 minutes.
All the same hangs on logo (left for a couple hours).
    You should do further:
Insertion file should be given a new name - E163AIMS.ROM.
I connect floppi. To hold buttons ctrl + home (figure 7) and turn on the laptop, the button ctrl + home not to wring out.
Inscription MSI should not to appear, the black screen must appear. The Floppi  must have a blinking bulb. When the floppi load a file there will be an inscription saying that BIOS is stitching.
But it goes to logo without any changes!
What advice can you give me?

  • Updating BIOS in Linux: MSI A88XM GAMING

    Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased MSI A88XM-GAMING motherboard.
Is there anyway for me to apply updates (bios & chipset) to this motherboard under linux?  Or is there a how-to guide for linux users?
Also since this is my first MSI motherboard curios as to driver support under linux for this motherboard.

Any idea how much support there is for motherboard drivers under linux
I personally do not know. But I would imagine that mostly it should be supported just fine.

  • MSI A88XM GAMING | Can't boot with new PCI-e x1 card plugged in

    Hi,
I'm a owner to an MSI A88XM GAMING motherboard and I purchased a AverMedia Live Gamer HD card last week. After unboxing and installing the card to one of my PCI-e x1 slots the computer won't boot. All what happends is what the fans starts and the power LED turns on, but that's all. No beeps or anything.
I know for sure what the AverMedia Live Gamer HD card is working just fine, as I've already tested it on my old computer. I've also tested if it might have been a power issue, by disconnected everything and running it on a towel outside the case, still the same result. Connecting it to any of the other 3 PCI-e ports gives the same result. All the PSU cables are properly connected and the motherboard has the latest BIOS version on it.
Is there any way to get it to work on my computer? I would really like to avoid switching motherboard is possible. Using a 2:nd computer is also not an option, as I want to be able to just take it with me without any issues.

Well, someone is doing something with the BIOS because they sent me 1.2B6 a couple weeks ago for the same 88XM GAMING motherboard -- and it didn't fix my Display Port issues.  Maybe the changes were to the PCIe timings?
I didn't want to test any more 1.2 beta builds, due to earlier problem with them. But I'll give the final build of v1.2 a try later today, I didn't notice what it had been released.

Out of curiosity, have you tried the video output from the motherboard, instead of the 280x, when you have card installed? (Make sure the IGP is enabled in bios)
That was one of the very first things I tried, did so after my 2:nd post on the forum. You can find the results here: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=183220.msg1315289#msg1315289
I've contacted the AverMedia Support, hopefully they should be able to find the issue. It's possible what it might be a firmware related issue.
I've also searched around on the XSplit forum if there's anyone else what have run into the same problem. But couldn't find anything, so I made a thread and asked directly instead. I got a reply from someone on the Support Staff, but he couldn't find anything either.

  • REQ - MSI U270 BIOS mod with unlocked UEFI option

Hi guys, I'm new to this board.
I've searched everywhere and couldn't find any MSI U270 BIOS mods. I'm trying to upgrade to the Windows 8 BIOS, but since the update package can only be used under UEFI mode, I'd have to enable UEFI in my BIOS. BUT, there isn't an option to do that, and there isn't a DOS version of the BIOS update either.
    Thanks in advance.

  • MSI VGA Bios Not available

I ran Sandra last night to pull up sys info. The MSI 9800GT BIO was written in the year 2000. I also know the next comment will be,> what do you think a bios does and why should it be update.
It should be updated to unlock parameters that were not taken into considerations ten years ago.
I have never seen Sandra miss read anything, it has always been on the money, and very conservative in its reply.
Where is the updated BIO for MSI Graphic accelerations?

There is no such, the BIOS is not a driver and shall be not updated when everything is working fine.
If need it, it can be provided by MSI Tech.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • MSI A88XM-E45 coil whine? or other annoying sound

My new system is producing a high pitched sound that sounds similar to an old HDD seeking but higher pitched and sometimes more like a constant whine. It only occurs when The graphics chip is working, if I restart X in Linux it stops until I've logged back in and seems to respond differently depending upon what is displayed on the screen. For example, if the background is solid black it will correspond 100% to moving the mouse cursor and will otherwise be silent. I may only be hearing this because it's my first silent build and would be extremely silent without this issue. Be that as it may, it's very annoying. Has anyone here heard of an issue like this before? I really don't know where to begin as far as troubleshooting goes.

can you record the sound and upload it somewhere and give us a link?
it may be coil wine and possibly it may be coming from your power supply so see if you can  isolate where its coming from?
Unfortunately I don't have anything resembling a decent microphone. However I will be getting a new power supply relatively soon (it's back-ordered) I'll reply to this thread if the sound persists.

  • MSI RS480M2-IL BIOS Help

To anybody who knows everything there is to know about this board and about its IGP, then please help me.  I have changed a few things in the BIOS, which I flashed in Windows from 3.30 to 3.40, but I'm not really sure what I'm doing (I've already almost screwed this one up by setting the Internal Video Memery to UMA+SidePort instead of just UMA (why did that screw it up?)).  Can somebody please list every setting in the BIOS (I mean every setting!  That's why you need to know everything there is to know about this board.), and what that setting's best value is (or explain why one would want to use each different value)?  This is a large task and I'm not forcing anyone to do anything, but if somebody can please help me here so I don't destroy my computer by simply playing with the BIOS, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you very much.
Oh yeah, and one more thing:  how should I go about updating drivers and things, through MSI Live Update 3 or off the websites, especially ATI's drivers?
    Thanks again.

Submenu:  LDT & PCI Bus Control

These two settings override the default GFX clock to operate Asyncronously to memory at 350MHz....a real performance boost to the GPU.

The setting disables unused PCI slots.
Oh yeah, and one more thing:  how should I go about updating drivers and things, through MSI Live Update 3 or off the websites, especially ATI's drivers?
I used the most recent (at the time) ATI Catalyst 5.5 drivers from ATI's download.  I haven't tested the latest 5.6 and 5.7 sets.  If you're running XP, let XP install all other drivers except sound.  For sound, I recommend the drivers on the MSI CD (5760 set) as a starting point.  Some tests of more current Realtek drivers in the Forum had problems (search the Forum).  Realtek is always releasing new sets, so there may be a more current set that works well.  I'd just start with a known good set.

  • MSI X79A-GD45 (8D) BIOS help??

Hi guys, I'm new here as I've only just managed (barely!) to build my first PC. Although I'm slightly worried that once I turn it on the BIOS of my motherboard won't be the version required to run the i7-3820. I've read in a number of threads from different forums and it seems to be a recurring theme of this motherboard being slightly problematic.
I'm still waiting on my PSU so I can't check it quite yet although everything else has been assembled.
My question is, can I find out the BIOS version of my motherboard from something like a serial no., and if so, where?
My system is as follows -
    MSI X79A-GD45(8D)
    i7-3820
    R9 270x Hawk
    2x8GB G-Skill 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 2133
    Cooler Master Hyper 412s
    Corsair RM650 80 Plus Gold 650W
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as advice on what to do if the BIOS is an old man.
P.S. - there is a ''revision history'' inside the ''software & application'' user guide which notes an update of something (not sure if BIOS) up to ''v1.6 - Update Control Center 2.5 and add MSI SUITE''.
    Thanks!

That's a fairly new board. It is manufactured 2013-02-08. All Sandy Bridge E cpus (all 3820s) should be supported out of the box then. It is most likely at bios 10.7 (7760vA7) one of the last bios versions before Ivy Bridge E support had been implemented. A newer bios (12.1) came 2013-02-21.
Sounds like good news, although I'm a pessimist by nature...
Quote from: Sea Dog on 21-January-14, 06:14:10
It is doubtful if that reseller has done anything with the board's initial factory installed UEFI/BIOS version. An admin or moderator will be able to determine the date of manufacture for you and what course of action will need to be done.
You could always try the CPU and see if it will POST or not. No harm should be done trying it. If it doesn'r POST, then you have a pretty good idea it needs the UEFI/BIOS updated. Be sure to 'barebones' the system (minimum hardware installed) outside the case on a plain piece of unprinted cardboard or untreated wood. One RAM stick in the DIMM1 slot.
Hopefully I wont have to follow this advice, took me so long to set everything up!
I did manage to find a few dates on the mobo itself, including one mentioning ''EuP 2013'' as well as a sticker ending with the numbers ''2014''. I think it's a good indication although I may just be seeing what I want to there. Any idea what EuP means?
Thanks for your help so far guys.
