MSI anywhere master gives sound only at alternative times

I am using winXP SP1 with DX9/ATI 9000PRO/Soundblaster 5.1 live.
When I use MSIPVS to watch TV, it gives me sound on alternative times,
e.g. It has no sound for the 1st, 3rd, 5th times when I start it  but has sound for the 2nd, 4th,6th times. In another word, if I start it without sound, next time it will have and the next time it will not have again. This is so weird.
please help, or I will have to return this card and have to pay 20% restocking fee.
Thanks.

The model you have is not tested.
The 1600 is by MSI but only on the particular CPU they used.
As the CPU holds the memory controller and NOT the board is it possible that they don't work.
Only way to find out, test your system with AMD tested memory, then you know for sure.
Electronics is gamble and hope it works, it's not exact science.
Even the best engineer can't calculate exact values with electronics, it's all testing and hope you discover all problems.
Building a house is far easier, as you have bricks and you can calculate when they break, with electronics you hope it works...happens in 99% of all cases.
You don't want to know how much testing is done after the drawing board, and still not all issues are found...and most never will.
This is regardless of brands, it's the way electronics work, it's always an estimate of what it should do and then hoping it actually will.
That is also the reason that a lot of overclocking can be done, they leave headroom to be sure it works at specifications.
Anyway, test with AMD known working memory and you know the answer if your memory is the cause or not.

  • MSI @ANYWHERE MASTER BLUE SCREEN ON TV

    hi
today i bought a MSI @NYWHERE MASTER, radio and composite works ok, but when i try to use the tv only i see a blue screen in MSIPVS, and the software can´t recognize any channel from my cable tv, only i can see a blue screen.
i´m in argentina and the tv signal is PAL-N

The MSI TV@nywhere Master (MS-8606) does have driver problems which affect some more than others.
My TV@nywhere Master driver problems are not as severe as yours. There are others I have talked to that have had problems get the card to tune in correctly but only to certain channels. I may be lucky that the channels affected are not used in my area (PAL-I UK), but even so if I wish to use the TV@nywhere Master with any other software (including WinDVR 3 the so called upgrade to MSIPVS) they will not work unles MSIPVS has been run first. Even after MSIPVS has been run there is no guarantee that the tuner will find any channels (like WinDVR 3. The card is no problem when SVideo or Composite inputs are used but this defeats the objective of a TV Tuner card. MSI may argue that MSIPVS works and it does for me but at the cost of a poor display of the "Invincible Video Quality" promised by MSI.
You are able to see the true video quality capabilties of this card by using other software and using one of the Video in options but to watch live TV via MSIPVS is very distracting. The display from MSIPVS whilst playing back live TV (OK on playback of recorded TV) is spoilt by the amount of jaggies, this seams to be cause by every 8-16th scan line either moving a few pixel from the previous 8-16 lines or by the complete absense of 2 or 3 scan lines every 8-16 lines. Either way it is very distracting to watch and destroys the pleasure of watching live TV.
All the problems with the TV@nywhere Master (MS-8606)are related to the Drivers and the supplied software. I will not recommend this card to anyone unless their main use is to capture video or do not intend to watch live TV. If MSI rectify these "flies in the ointment" they would have a TV card that would be hard to beat.

  • What MSI should do to fix MSI TV Anywhere Master !

able Of Content for below email:
    1) context
    2) essentials on how-to definitively fix MSI TV Anyhwere Master while  natively recovering your customers long-term trusting in MSI logo.
    - - - - - -DETAILS:
    1) My neighbors have recently bought 2 pieces MSI - TV Anywhere Master tuner cards by following my latest advices.
They both are students engaged by few media tasks in our campus to provide internal training by video samples and news broadcasts in local areas.
One of them told me his intention to even start some anti-MSI virtual campaigns through world-wide forums against your product as a reasoned revenge for huge effort with no results during lot of time-loossing trials to setup, stabilize and properly use your MSI proprietary software and drivers (MSIPVS-WinDVR) delivered by with this product's original package.
Now they claim as many others found on alike forums, all  money back and tens hours stress compensations from proximate shopping center cause these MSI tuner cards not working as they thought while comparing MSI product with other's alike.  It seems that MSI duped its long-term customers.
They tested on both licensed and updated Windows 98 SE and latest Windows XP Pro (latest service packs included) but received undesirable results that we will compact them as below to suggest you what and how to fix it.
    2) Best ways to fix it :
    I. redesign all its drivers to include that MSI "secret" proprietary strings-keys requested to keep full activated your TV Anywhere Master card (CX23881-19 chipset) anytime for any other tuner/capture application (other 3rd party software like ChrisTV Pro, DScaler, PowerVCR, Virtual VCR /freeware!!!)
Currently, all these better featured applications can setup and recognize most of your competitors alike cards (based on new 10-bit CX2388x chipset) but not yours MSI Anywhere !
It is worst way to freeze by default your customers expectations and usage development!
So, unlock your card by new drivers really compatible with Microsoft OSs so, nobody will complain anymore against MSI hurried & unfinished or less-featured products due to any software related issues!
Remind that you are one of greatest HARDWARE producer not SOFTWARE, so, better provide what you are to provide!   Let others much more trained for software purposes to do it and to compete among themselves while getting much more freely alternatives to promote your cards to an wider range of users with different skills and interests.
II. redesign MSIPVS-WinDVR's setup panel to recognize and include any codec previously installed in the system during its launching, like your competitors' above software already done it successfully !  Mostly focus on DivX for video and MP3 for sound and alike codecs which are mostly used and available today everywhere (>70%!) both licensed and freeware releases, comparing with those obsolete MPEG files!  There is no need to train yourself by own software cause you better ask people like Chris(TV Pro) to do it for you much better and cheaper!  Forgot about MPEG2 and MPEG4(yours!) cause are for nothing !  Your MPEG4 not works on others PCs while MPEG2 is no use for most customers due to large resources requirement with even lower performances than an very well-settled DivX, which needs ten times lower space!!
Go DivX 5x and MP3 for any software based encoding purposes is the only target for your recording settings panel!
Also for Win Producer /Win Coder which can not not administer DivX and MP3 correctly.  (ask VirtualDub to replace it cause it is working infinitely better!)
III. channel settings and scanning must be also redesigned to get more stable and transparent to the user: add a new column with its channel frequency and a real working stable control to FINE tuning and SAVE.
Finally, BEST is to setup a dedicated text file to save and launch all configurations within.  Anytime when push APPLY or SAVE, to write something in that file and then to read from there instead of use usually unstable system registry dynamic records.  In the same way, customer who want to fix something or really save their settings to preserve your cards and applications for unexpected failures, development etc, will be able to adjust on his own risk some settings which were not correctly settled by the application etc.
This is to provide much more reliability to this card usage and to compensate potential bugs in future releases.
IV. Provide an interface like above (III) to the enduser who  mostly demands to reconfigure remote control unit which is now too poor and not include essential controls like start/stop recording etc.  All remote controls to be written in a text file at also enduser disposal to modify shortcuts in order to reallocate remote control buttons to another panel controls etc.
    V. MSI-Radio tuner must have channel name (retrieved from FM table settings) displayed under the frequency and much more selectivity and real correct scanner (not use that "less stations" control).  It could be very demanded a wider range scanning from 30 MHz up to 110 MHz for many other locations.
Both for TV channels (see MSI-PVS to provide full tuning all frequencies including manually settings each channel!)
If it is hard to do it for Windows 98 release, provide them for XP at least but inside a better structured website than now.  In the present there are still many confusings and no stable procedure (that provided on the original CD has lot of bugs and missings risking to freeze the system!) regarding from where to download updates (too many different addresses to discover inside MSI-support site).  MSI TV Anywhere Master must have its own unique sub-site with all updates downloads included in the same page, both for drivers and for applications!   Also is a must to include WDM MS-8606 drivers instead of current ones to not receive anymore that error "nVIDIA WDM universal Capture" not found.
Please email me and my neighbor marcellino
([email protected]) when demands described above will get fixed !
Thank you in advance and wishing MSI good lock for better results!
    Regards,
    TekSam & marcellino

    Exactly my thoughts.
Probably they're even too affraid to give us some answers about how, what and where.
I had a previous descussion about an MSI mb that wouldn't accept a 40GB Maxtor hd. My asus mb didn't have a problem with detecting it.
Their reply was to flash to the latest bios version, which I already wrote that I did that in my e-mail to them.
A friend of mine had the same MSI mb, guess what???   same problem. His Dell pc, no problem.
Wrote back to MSI, waiting for 3 years now , never received an e-mail. (wrote a couple of reminders).
I now bought this tv nowhere card and I have the same problem as many people have....     alot of sh*t ....   and not working. No refund, 0 support, users must help other users to solve certain issues, --->  10 clean versions of winXP and hours and hours of stress
This will be the last MSI product that I will EVER buy.

  • Tried installing latest iTunes (10.5.3.3). During installation received error message asking to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". No choice but to cancel installation. Any suggestions?

The problem started when my current iTunes kept popping up a window stating that my Auto Run was turned off. (which means iTunes will not be able to recognize when a CD is inserted or ejected). It asked if I wanted iTunes to run  Auto Run and I select Yes every time (this window pops up every time I open my iTunes), but a second window pops up stating iTunes cannot turn on my Auto Run setting (but it will still be able to recognize CDs) to which I choose okay. A third window pops up after stating that iTunes was not properly installed and if I wish to import or burn CDs I need to re-install iTunes, except that I can import CDs since I did this only yesterday and this problem has been going on at least a month.
To add to this, I cannot cannot automatically update to version 10.5.3. (I don't recall which problem came first, my Auto Run problem or the fact that my iTunes can't update). iTunes suggested that I manually install the update, so I went to the apple site and tried manually installing the latest iTunes (10.5.3). However, during the installation process I received an error message. It asked me to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". I tried hitting Try again a few times but the same error message popped up, so I had no choice but to cancel the installation. Afterwards, I tried searching in my C drive but could not find "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf"
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can update my iTunes?

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

  • Tv anywhere master... till when?...

Hello everybody and excuse my english...
I have a tv anywhere master card and i'm getting tire of it... (i think i'm going to get a tv tuner card based on ATI's new Theater 550 Pro processor either POWERCOLOR or another brand... NOT Msi...)
the reason as you all can guess is the DRIVER/SOFTWARE problem... (even with these you can tell that the hardware is pretty good)
for example this hissing sound the card makes when windows starts... the best we can do is to change the input source to aux instead of line in in order to get it muted when the OS is booting, ppl for me that is a solution if someone give the card for free, not for something i paid for...
the issue is supposed to be related with the Crossbar Driver... well when you see the beta driver the AUDIO and VIDEO capture driver are new but the TV TUNER and the CROSSBAR driver are the same problematic drivers of almost 2 years ago... (this is supposed to be fixed in the beta drivers... well i still had the problem...)
anyway i installed the beta drivers and had to install the old ones again because the image gets grainy and in general of lower quality...
well this is what i wanted to share my thoughts with you guys
    good luck

And you tried the new drivers here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=77045.0

  • TV Anywhere Master Installation instructions combined with WinProducer

Installation of MSI TV Anywhere Master on Windows XP SP1, DX9 (Should work on other installations but tested on this.)
First, before beginning go to http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_ten.php?UID=193 and download the new driver package.  You will need to run the executable and extract it to a folder before proceeding.
    UN-INSTALLATION
Before proceeding you need to uninstall all of the software that came with the TV Anywhere Master.  Below are instructions on how to do this.
    WinProducer Un-installation
Now, open Add/Remove Programs.  Locate InterVideo WinProducer and remove it, it will request you to reboot, go ahead. Allow it to remove all files include locked files that it requests to do at next reboot. REBOOT
    MSIPVS Un-installation
Reopen Add/Remove Programs and locate MSIPVS and remove.  Allow it to remove all files include locked files that it requests to do at next reboot.  REBOOT
    MSI Radio Un-installation
Reopen Add/Remove Programs and locate MSI Radio and remove it.  Allow it to remove all files include locked files that it requests to do at next reboot.  REBOOT
    TV Tuner Driver Un-Installation IMPORTANT!
Reopen Add/Remove Programs and locate and remove TV Tuner Drivers.  These are the drivers for your TV Tuner even if they don’t say MSI!  REBOOT
Now you are ready to proceed with the installation.
    INSTALLATION
Installation of MSI TV Anywhere Master on WinXP
    TV Tuner Drivers
Locate the folder you extracted the drivers downloaded from the link above and run “PVSSetup”.  Follow all onscreen instructions.  REBOOT
    WinProducer Installation
WinProducer needs to be installed next because of a file incompatibility with MSIPVS.
Insert the CD InterVideo WinProducer / WinCoder.  Follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall.  REBOOT
    MSIPVS and MSI Radio Installation
Insert the CD Labeled InterVideo MSIPVS.
In the AutoRun make sure you Select MSIPVS, NOT the drivers.  If you select the drivers you will have to start over by removing the software again.
Follow the onscreen instructions and during the install when it encounters a locked file select “reboot”.  Once completed reboot the system.
You should be all set now!  Have fun…..  If this doesn’t work on your system please let me know your config and what problems you are still having….
    Thanks,
    Larry (digitaldreams)

Note: NTSC region, FFDSHOW set to accept raw video, output just about anything, de-interlace set to ffmpeg (seems better than 5-pass or TomsMoComp; any attempt to link in a DScaler .dll crashes the player) resize and sharpen (to your display res, set "No Aspect Ratio Correction), "Experimental" method (much less load than Lanczos, which is slightly better) 1.60 for both luma and chroma.
    1. Load MPC, click on File>Open Device>Select "Conexant 2388x Video Capture", click OK. If necessary, View>Capture to get control frame.
    2. Play>Filters>Conexant 2388x Video Capture>MSI 8606 Crossbar>drop Output Menu>select Video Decoder Out (this turns on the Apply button)>Tick Link Related Streams>Click Apply Button (and voila, sound)>Click OK to exit.
2a. Play>Filters>MSI TV Audio>Set Channels and Language (seems to be a one-time only requirement).
    3. Play>Filters>MSI 8606 Tuner>(set country code, tuning mode, input & video standards if necessary) change channel once via filter keypad or up/down arrows (seems necessary to get pageUp/Down keys to be recognized).
4.Play>Filters>Conexant 2388x Video Capture>Properties (make sure Video Standard under Video Decoder tab is correct)>Video Proc Amp>Set to personal preferences (I like Sharpness at max setting, you may find it 'grainy').
    5. Usually, the tuner output reverts to RGB16; FFDSHOW (for me, anyway) seems to need YUY2. Then crank the horizontal & vertical res to max, click on "Set".
    6. Close the Capture frame, adjust image window size, position to your liking (alt+enter toggles fullscreen - doubleclicking the image usually locks everything up).
Simple eh? Worth it? Your decision. Not quite DScaler, but close.
Channel selection by keyboard is only next/previous (and opposite that of MSIPVS). Channel jumps can only be done by the filter. (Right click on image if you are in full screen (and if you are simply watching TV, you can drag the filter window down and offscreen).
And there are all sorts of weirdness - you never know what settings will "stick" from one time to the next. Haven't been successful in getting it to record, and after playing around with some other recording programs, I now have this echo (or even echo/echo) sound (I have to TURN OFF the line input to the sound card to get rid of it, yet the line input volume slider still has effect).
    It's a great time waster.

  • MSI E7205 Master-L Problems

I just purchased the E7205 motherboard.  It said it was easily overclockable, but it don't have any settings in the bios to do so, except for the memory.  I installed WinXP with all the updates and drivers for the motherboard using live update and MSI update.  I am getting really bad static off the onboard audio.  I have checked the IRQ's for the device and it shares the same IRQ with the SMBus controller.  Knowing that it was the IRQ sharing in winXP I reinstalled and forced windows XP to install in APIC mode, which was a major performance enhancer.  Since everything seperated into there own IRQ channels, except the AC'97 controller and the SMBus controller.  Since XP does not allow you to change IRQ settings I reinstalled a second time in APIC and the AC'97 and SMBus was still sharing the same IRQ.  The reason that I think it is due to the IRQ sharing is because you can hear the pentium clock through the speakers.  Also I have 8x agp card that the motherboard does not recognize, and there are no settings in the bios to change this.  Please help I spent this much money on the mobo and don't want to have to turn around and buy a seperate sound card.

    PNY Ti4200 8x
    60 GB Maxtor DiamondMax
    Sony 48x24x48 CD/RW
    XP Pro, SP1

Ok, I installed the sound drivers listed from the above link.  It made it worse.  The reason I think it is an IRQ issue because during the multiple installations before I installed winXP in APIC mode, I was having the same problem, but this one time I managed to get the Multimedia controller on an IRQ to itself and it worked fine.  Which made me excited, cause that was the 5th XP installation.  The only thing is that the video card and all the usb controllers were sharing the same IRQ which killed my video performance.  Using 3DMark2001se I was only getting a score of 8330, which I thought was awful for this system.  Then I forced XP in APIC mode, which took care of the IRQ sharing except for the sound controller and SMbus controller.  Thus again I used 3DMark2001se and scored 10500-11888, which was great to me without any overclocking.  But the sound problem still hangs over the system.  I'll try and describe the sound, it sounds like you have a computer mic over the pentium processor.  Everytime you open a program you hear it work.  I have looked over the internet about this static/noise problem to no avail.  Do you guys have anymore thoughts.
P.S. - Saving up for 2 512 MB corsairs, to help with the memory.

  • TV@anywhere Master locks up

Just purchased a new TV@anywhere Master 8606. The thing just does not work. There are two problems that make this card completely useless in my system:
    1. MSIPVS constantly freezes. Sometimes it freezes the entire computer - even the mouse cursor won't move anymore. I have to hard reset the machine. This happens constantly. I've never had MSIPVS run for more than a minute or two.
    1. The MSIPVS application only finds half the channels. I have an external antenna and my reception is near perfect. All channels display perfectly on a TV using the same cable and arial point. I even tried another brand of TV card and all channels worked perfectly.
For the channels that it does find, the image quality is poor.
The machine I am using is a new P4 2.4 Ghz machine with hyperthreading CPU. Maybe MSI's software has trouble with these new CPUs?

I use a TV@nywhere master on and AMD AthlonXP PC with minimal problems. I have heard of others with P4s have simular problems to yourself.
The Drivers and MSIPVS do need to be fixed as there are definite problems especially if you try to use tuner with any other software. The Tuner on board the TV@nywhere master is very new and does not seamed to be suported correctly by any software I have tried. I must admit that I have minimal problems with MSIPVS but the tuner drivers are not satifactory. I can state that this card has exceptional quality on capture from good sources and a great display when TV is played via Svideo or Composite-in using either Dscaler or ChrisTV.
    I did have problems getting the MS-8606 Audio drivers to install initally but once I had manually installed them there were no more problems. Maybe worth checking that the drivers have been installed. In Device Manger you should see references to;
    MSI 8606 Audio Capture
    MSI 8605 Crossbar
    MSI 8606 Tuner
    MSI 8606 Video Capture
if any of these are missing or you have a yellow exclaimation mark next to them, either re-install the drivers and/or try moving the card to another PCI slot but do not use the slot next to the AGP slot. Some machines are very fussy as to which PCI a TV card will work in.

  • [TV@Master] Fly like a bird with tv@anywhere Master (finally a great sofware!!!)

    Finally!
After hours and hours of searching a good software for tv@anywhere master, trying of new drivers (didn't work - only color noise) - I grabbed my original installation CD with ancient drivers (setupdrv.exe dated 22.5.2003!!!) and installed the FLY2000TV (30-day trial).
    Voila!!!!
Great picture on my 39 catv programmes, noise reduction, great deinterlacing, separate controls for each channel, etc. - perfect russian job!
MOREOVER - the FM radio works great too! (forget about that crappy MSI radio app.)
All of you folks crying for a great soft - erase your MSI PVS and go for FLY2000TV!
AND! your tiny cute remote control is supported as well! But also Winamp and system shut down (3-function) using MSIremote application written by a great man. Grab it! http://major.aspweb.cz/

  • MSI K7D Master L - CRC Problem

    Hey gang.
I've been having some CRC troubles with my MSI K7D Master L.  On most occasions, I cannot perform an install from either of the cd drives--eventually a CRC error will pop up.  In addition, data on the hard disks (i.e. registry settings) dissapear or are corrupted.  Which sucks.  ...and you can imagine how my slightly corrupted windows install is performing :(.  ?(
    Here's my specs:
-AMD MB 2800+ Barton (Only one CPU installed right now)
    -1024 mb of Kensington ram
    -ATI 9700 Pro
-Bios Version 1.3 (latest bios for Master L)
    -Enermax 431watt power supply
-Creative Audigy Sound card (onboard sound disabled)
Just for reference, I've ran all the diagnostics (memtest86, and that IBM hard disk checker) and no problems show up.  Only the motherboard and processor are new... all of the components, cables, drives, etc. were working well before I poped in the new MB.  Of course, I started fresh with a clean formatted drive for my windows install.
I've heard that my Enermax 431 is about a 10 on the blows-O-meter.  Could this be the problem?  I realize that my new AMD 2800MP is prolly pulling out a bit more juice than before.
I love this motherboard, and I know that CRC errors are pretty rare on the K7D (cough, unlike some other MBs), I'd hate to have to RMA it.
    Thanks in advance ,
    JonnyLongTorso

Replaced the Enermax 431 supply with an Antec 550 watt unit.  Still getting the errors.
    Any ideas?

I've downloaded CS6 Master Collection but only see The Photoshop icon.  I can't seem to find the other programs, except on "uninstall programs" How do I open and run the others?

How about you give us some real information.
Did you install the software? What operating system?

  • TV@anywhere master huge problem

I have the TV@anywhere master and when i am changing the channel ( after a few times) the comp friezes

Just to make sure I understand. It is your computer that freezes, not the TV tuner program. And you have the problem in at least one TV tuner program other than MSIPVS. PowerVCR is also freezing. Again it is not your computer that is freezing but the TV tuner programs.
You did not answer the question: did you install the CD software or did you install the software from the MSI site?
If you did install the software from the MSI site and the tuner programs are freezing, check if the TV tuner drivers (MSI 8606 Video/Audio Capture) are sharing an IRQ with another major component (example video / audio card, ignore USB controllers). In Windows you can do this using the MSInfo32.exe program. If the IRQ of the tuner driver is shared, move the TV Tuner to another PCI slot.
If you did not install the software from the MSI site, download the MS-8606 files and install them.

  • Mono sound only

This is a really annoying problem: I only get mono sound with my headphone jack - the builtin laptop speakers are doing fine, though. I had this problem a few days ago, I asked for help in another forum but right after that (after a reboot) it worked again. After I used jack server for a while I noticed that there was mono sound only again, system-wide, and it couldn't be fixed with a reboot. I think I should mention that I had the same problem on ubuntu before (about 5 days ago; installed arch linux afterwards) too.
(i don't know how to use code tags yet, sorry)

Maybe it will be gone when I'll do some reboots, there are often problems without any cause (that makes sense, at least; today my laptop died for 3 hours, i couldn't turn it on anymore, and when i took it to a repair service, when i explained it to the guy he tried pressing the power button and it just worked again)

It went away for a while and came back right now, I don't know how to reproduce it, I don't know the cause. This is really bothersome.
The built-in speakers work normally, by the way.

  • MSI K8D Master PCI-X Question

    Hi,
I was just wandering if anyone could tell me if the MSI K8D Master is compatible with any PCI-X 16 video cards.
    Any information would be appreciated.

This is a server board, and server typically have no use for AGP or other fancy videostuff.
You are confusing PCI-E with the PCI-X that the board has.
PCI-X is an extended PCI slot that can do 64bit and 100MHz instead of the normal PCI being 32 Bit and max 66MHz.
This lifts the PCI speed from max 256MB/s to 1.2GB/s.
Raid controllers and very-fast network controller bennefit a lot from this.
Ergo, the K8D boards are for server use only.
If you want a big graphical workstation with 2 Opterons, it's the K8T Master board that you are looking for.
But it also doesn't have PCI-E as of yet.
