MSI B85M ECO Unboxing

Recently my dad had been chattering around of buying a brand-new PC since his PC was cracked down. My dad’s used to browse on the internet, watch vedio and play some games only. I think he doesn’t need a high end computer.Luckily,I had borrowed CPU, hard disk, disk drive and memory from my friend. Obviously,it seems that I have to cost some money on motherboard.
Roaming around in the PC selling center, besides the general seen brand, there are some gaming,OC blah blah blah…….My eyes got blizzard and couldn’t see the difference among it. At this moment, I saw something pretty interesting. Let me take a front side picture of this.
▲The front side picture of this box
Wow!? I don’t know the eco-friendly awareness had come to this stage! Buy one motherboard can also make some contribution to the world!
▲The back side of this box
I spent a lot of time staring the spec introduction. After the inquiring from the sales,I ended up buying it home! I immediately took some photo of open boxing.
▲Accessories
▲Take another photo
Well, product manual ,computer cables,disc…..this box has everything!
▲The front side photo of the motherboard.
The design within green and white looks high-quality,especially for the green eco logo in the middle!
▲The side plug hole of the motherboard
The slogan”Doing More with Less” is really eye-catching. My dad was also curious by this slogan saying that it may save some electric charge.
▲Successfully turn on the computer
Fortunetely, the computer was successfully turned on! The second step is installing the windows for dad. I’ll share how I feel of using this board if having any chance afterwards.

White board with green PCI-E slots must be more attractive! especially for modders!
If there's white PCB ECO motherboard, I would want one too

• MSI B85M-G43 can't install Windows 7. Hard disk not detected.

Hi,
I just built a new computer for the first time.  I followed the instructions and did everything correctly. but am unable to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Hard disk isn't always detected during the installation.
But when it appeared in the "Where do you want to install Windows" list along with system, I tried to format the hard disk and got a message "Failed to format the select partition. [Error 0x80070057]."
Then I restarted the computer, the hard disk no longer displayed in the list, so I put motherboard driver disc and clicked on Load Driver and opened Storage\Intel\PCH_12.0\f6flpy-x64. It loaded, then I got a message saying "To continue installation, use the Load Driver option to install 32-bit and signed 64-bit drivers. Installing an unsigned 64-bit device driver is not supported and might result in an unusable Windows installation."
I restarted again and disabled Driver Signature Enforcement, but it didn't help. I still got the same message.
In the computer case I have these devices:
- MSI B85M-G43, Socket-1150
- Intel Core i5-4430 Processor
- Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB
- MSI GeForce GTX 650Ti BOOST 1GB
- Cooler Master GX 550W PSU
- WD Desktop Green 1TB
- SuperMulti 16X DVD(+/-)R/RW 12X RAM (+/-)R DL LightScribe SATA drive
Everything is plugged in correctly. Hard disk connector plugged in SATA 1 and DVD -> SATA 2.
The installation is pretty slow, regardless if i install it via USB or x16 DVD. All except DVD and hard disk are disabled. It's also worth to mention that even DVD and USB aren't always detected in the click BIOS.
So I'm wondering if anyone here can help me? Thanks

Hi and
1: What BIOS version you have? .. Have you tryed to downgrade/upgrade it already?
2: Have you tryed it in those SATA 2 ports? ...is it same strory?
- On SATA there aint any master or Slave like on IDE so if you are under same controller it dosent mutter what port you use on what device.
Note: SATA 3 Ports are faster then SATA2 ports, but even SATA 1 can handel your DVD or HDD. So no lose if you need to use SATA 2 ports.
Hope this get you foward! Cheers Mummy

• Big POST issue with MSI B85M-P33

Hi guys, I've recently had a huge problem, my system cannot POST at all and it's been driving me insane.
I've tried to get into the BIOS but I can't get anywhere at all, I've used onboard VGA and DVI to get a display on the monitor neither worked, installed my GPU using HDMI and DVI on my monitor, "no signal" my monitor says.
I've took everything out and re installed everything, took the RAM out and replaced it in a different dim, didn't work so then I tried it with no RAM at all and couldn't even get a BEEP code for any indication for what to do next.
Tried 2 hard drives from work that have Windows 7 on (Samsung and Seagate).
I've cleared the CMOS and left it for 30 seconds and re-installed it hoping for a reason, nothing.
I'm really banging my head against the wall as I'm out of ideas and can't get any indication for what I'm doing wrong.
Any help is massively appreciated.

That processor is supported starting with BIOS v4.6
http://www.msi.com/support/mb/B85MP33.html#down-bios
You need to borrow a more "popular" CPU, be sure the system is rock stable and update the BIOS (to v4.7).
Good luck.

• Missing BIOS 26.4 file for MSI H97M ECO motherboard

The BIOS 26.4 file seems to be missing from the download page for the MSI H97M ECO motherboard - I get an error when clicking on the link in the UK download site.
I have installed the 26.3 file instead and I am getting very strange fan rpm on the ECO Center Pro tool - sometimes is shows around 700-800 rpm which is probably correct but it also shows much higher numbers such as 24,000 or 50,000 rpm!

The bios has been removed that's why. Global just shows 26.3 being latest: http://www.msi.com/support/mb/H97M-ECO.html#down-bios
Wait for MSI to fix it and re-release it. Usually versions are removed for a good reason (e.g. a bug).

• MSI B85M-G43 could not detect Gigabyte R929OC 4GB 3X Windforce

I recently build a new PC a month ago and have been using it for 3 weeks then random black screens problem started to occur.
It started right around the time after I updated to catalyst 14.4 w/o the beta. At the same time i noticed windows update has updated some files which i did not note down what it was. Also Noticed that startup list had some new programs running.
I proceeded to disable the programs in startup, undo the latest windows update and finally reinstalled windows 8.1
Nothin works and I am left with black screen, which i realised that to be actually the mobo not detecting the card once i got a vga screen plugged in to mobo onboard graphics and went to BIOs to see.
Previously my BIOs were updated to latest through the liveupdate 5 program, which itself updated to liveupdate 6. For some reason I dont like programmes sitting at the back constantly checking for updates, so after updating those, I deleted all those programs. The updates also took forever to download, I figured i will download/install individually in future. Now that I do a search there is no live update 6?
Just to make sure, I have reflashed the BIOs to E7823IMS v3.6 again through the m-flash inside BIOs, but did not choose the BIOs + ME option as i dont know what it is. After reboot, BIOs version remained there, checked for ME and there's the version number 9.0.21.1462.
BIOs version:  E7823IMS v3.6
ME version: 9.0.21.1462
Prior to the Win8.1 reinstall, my OS was sitting on my SSD in non UEFI mode, I chose to install in non-uefi as i dont know what it was then. When i tried to reinstall, somehow the boot priority identified the SSD as UEFI first, so i wanted to give it a try and proceeded to install win8.1 in UEFI until reboot failed. Then I decided to installed my win8.1 on my HD in non UEFI instead. The system, as usual, works using the integrated graphics and mobo could not detect the graphics card in the only PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. Should I plug it into the PCIe 2.0 x16 slot and try, It never occur to me until now as I thought that was the only slot my graphics card could use.
Please help
Here are my specs:
MSI B85M-G43
Intel i7-4770 3.4GHz
G.Skill Ripjaw 1600MHz (2 x 8)MB Blue
SSD Samsung Evolution 240GB
WD 1TB Blue
Gigabyte R929OC 4GB 3X Windforce
LG 24x DVD Writer
Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case
SeaSonic G-750 80+ GOLD Power Supply
ASUS PCE-N53 PCI-E Adapter
Windows 8.1 OEM
Qnix QX2710 Evolution II 27" matte PLS monitor (uses dual-DVI-D connector only)

try to update your bios again but use the BIOS + ME option as it will flash not only your bios but Intel ME at the same time.
Note: Don't remove your USB during bios flash as the system will restart for I think around 2 times and plugging out USB might kill the MB bios.
Did you modify any settings in the bios setup??
If updating bios not can't work, try to plug your card to second PCIE slot and see if it could boot or not.

• Can I Overclocking MSI B85M-G43

Can I Overclocking MSI B85M-G43 with Intel Pentium G3258? I'm A Starter....

You should be able to, with BIOS v3.7 or maybe later though there is no mention of it on support page.

• Does MSI B85M-E45 support 4K UHD Support? - which is correct???

I want to know if the MSI B85M-E45 motherboard supports 4K UHD ? (3840 x 2160 resolution).
When I read the overview of the MSI B85M-E45 motherboard it says it does supports it (it is mentioned in two different places)
However, when I see the 'detailed specification' it says the following :
1 x HDMI port, supporting the maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24Hz, 24bpp 2560x1600@60Hz, 24bpp 1920x1080@60Hz, 36bpp
So why don't they mention 3840 x 2160????
Can someone at MSI clarify the situation??? Why don't they mention it?? Which is correct on of them must be wrong?
I need 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz on the HDMI port. This is to support a UHD monitor.
This site, wont' let me post links to MSI own web site!

So anything less than that should be covered... It wasn't a list, just maximums.

• Is Intel i5 4460 compatible with default factory bios of MSI B85M-Gaming?

I would like to know if it is compatible, BIOS wise. I use http://pcpartpicker.com/ to check for compatibility and says that some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs.
However it seems to be so since http://www.msi.com/support/mb/B85M-GAMING.html#support-cpu: Says 7823vA0, which seems to be the factory default bios version.
Would be nice for MSI to specify the default bios version as part of the specs or outside of packaging without having to power up  the computer just to confirm what bios does the motherboard currently have.

ok thanks. Not all the time though a customer gets to look at the serial number of a motherboard box just to get that information, which still is a risk. (i.e. planning which parts to buy online/buying online) Since my B85M Gaming isn't available, i got a B85-G43 instead and an i5 4460 with it. I was worried that i was buying a non-compatible CPU and it wouldn't work as i was strictly following the CPU-bios support list (later found out that i was wrong doing this, due to the serial number dating on the board. I wouldn't know what the time stamp on it would be either until I inspected it or bought it, which is still a risk): http://www.msi.com/support/mb/B85G43.html#support-cpu
The sales techie then said that it would work because "nobody came back to them with a cpu-bios complaint" and they generalized that the LGA XXXX just need to correspond/match between CPU and motherboard. He says they stay away from BIOS upgrade since it might brick the board (which I also agree there's risk) and that its not going to be covered by their warranty policy.
So if i stayed away from the BIOS update, but the cpu would run as they claim - then will my system be unstable? (i.e. random Bsods, etc.) I guess it depends on the update itself too if it contains needed support for cpu X.
Also what else matters (general guidelines) for processor compatibility (apart from LGA XXXX, socket-wise)?
Processor stepping? (C0 ~ i guess this stepping is most safely assumed to be compatible? Seems common/base-level).
Serial Number manufacture date. But that only tells me when the board was made, i haven't found a site that lists the release date of the bios file version of the motherboard and then just assume that the board has that bios version with respect to its date.
Wattage - related with TDP, as long as the CPU doesn't exceed the mobo's limit for cpu wattage.

• MSI GT60-2OD Unboxing & Benchmarks

Hey guys, finally got my new GT60 from GentechPC and here are some unboxing photos :D
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
----Unboxing & Review----
Unboxing:
First of all the packaging:
-Your new GT60-2OD will ship in a double box that's slimmer and sleeker then the previous gen's packaging.
-I think MSI definitely upped their packaging, it looks more sleek and professional than the previous gen's packaging, especially the black interior as you open the box.
-The whole notebook is covered with an MSI Gaming Series black cloth to protect it against scratching during shipping.
-As for accessories, you'll find:
        +Battery
        +Power adapter
One major improvement  I really liked is the 'right-angle' power cord so that should avoid damaging your power plug
+Quick start guide & driver cds
        +Exclusive Gaming Series Sticker
-Here's the notebook in the protective cloth and out of the box:
-As you remove that, you'll find the screen covered with another white cloth:
-Remove that, and you'll find your awesome brand new GT60:
-One thing I loved about the screen is that they replaced the glossy bezel with a matte one, which is much less distracting and less suspect to scratching . MSI is really listening to its customers!
-Here are the stickers you'll find:
-Different sides of the notebook:
-Touch bar changed a bit, we now have a media button instead of turbo (which is automatic now :D), cooler boost, backlight control, airplane mode instead of wireless( which is a nice addition consider the mobility of this notebook), screen off, and a G button instead of the eject(useless). The G button brings you a control panel i which you can control your wireless/bluetooth/power mode/brightnes/camera...etc. It also has a special easter egg inwhich if you press it when the computer boots it keeps the processor overclocked
- MSI also added an LED indicator on the camera :as requested by many :D :D
-Here are some pictures of the amazing steelseries backlit keyboard:
-Finally, lets take a look under the hood (the most important part :D):
-SuperRAID 2 :D
-Adapter removed:
Here's the cooling system(note the bridge between cpu & gpu):

• MSI GT72 Dominator unboxing

Hi everyone
I'm so excited that I become one of the member here!!! WOW
This is my first gaming laptop ever. Yeah
The reason I bought the New MSI GT72 Dominator is because of it architecture inside the laptop itself and I have seen how much effort that MSI have put into R&D over the past decade and managed to caught up with big company like Dell Alienware, Asus ROG...etc
Anyway lets unbox it
The box itself is huge........
The accessories
The laptop itself
I will leave it for now, I will run some tests(BF4, Diablo 3, LOL, 3D Marks) later on.

Upgrading from Windows XP (probably Windows 7 Home etc.) should also be possible
Depend on what you had before, you may not need to format the whole disk but you will at least need to delete the windows directory an Programs/Programs(x86) (somehow, this cannot be done from windows).
