For BIOS Update: >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<

Hey guys real quick. So after updating to the new 7670IMS>310 bios so that I may use my GTX780s, I reinstalled with windows 8. Everything was fine until I was on teamviewer just last nite and upon switcing sides my bios got corrupted. How do I know you ask? Upon getting back into windows my LANS did not work so I had not internet connection. I tried uninstalling it from Device Manager and deleting it. After a few clrmos. I thought I would switch over to the other bios and see if the LAN works and it does because of the status lights because now it lights up. So I switch back to main bios and LAN works but it would not post whatsoever and just cycles through post finally ending with a " DE ". Not sure what the new LED DEBUG codes are but if someone could post it would be nice to be able to refer to it.
Anyways on win 8, no matter what it will not let me into windows And when it looks like it will...gives me "your pc ran into problems and we are collecting data and we'll restart after" message. After a few of these wonderful messages, I decided I was going to flash my bios again. It did look like I was sucessful until after restart it did the same thing. Going through post I saw 19,15 then shuts off. Does this and ends with "DE" pc still on but nothing. No windows.
I got lucky a few times and was able to get into my bios and decided I was going back to Win 7 64......I put the good ole XFX6990 back in and got windows 7 to reinstall and continue to flash my bios to an older one. I used your method before and it work> from 3.0 back to 1.5 then from 1.5 back to 1.2 for OC purposes. So i tried that method but it looked like it just reflash it with 3.1, odd.
So after a few restarts everything seems fine, no cycles just normal. When I reboot normal process no double boots or cycles this time so I thought hey, that fixed my corrupted bios somehow. I thought I gotten lucky.... So I switch out the good old 6990 and in with my 780s. Reinstalled win 7 and upon completion of windows update. Again with the cycles of 19,15 turns off does this again over and over like 5 or 6 times and ends with "DE"
And this is where I'm at atm. I remember when I DL'd the flasher and bios. I only saw 2 files which was " VALVE CHECK AND E7670IMS.310".
When I tried to do it again with the same method as the first I have "
#BIOS
#BK_6.Z7
#EFIFLASH
#MSIHQ(icon)
#MSIHQ_INFO
#MT420"
This time it does not go through the same when flashing, just tells me bios update complete. I've done this a million times and all have been successful.
Basically I'm still on 3.1 bios but I 'm curious as what other methods do you suggest I try now? I have left everything alone after reinstalling windows and updates. Everything seems okay, reboots fine no cycles and still get the random hit or miss with 15,19 turns off cycles and ends with "DE". Would like to get a resolution if possible. Thank you and I know I said real quick right, but really. Thanks for any help.
I'm going nuts!!

  • MSI big bang marshal B3 HECI pointer mismatch

    Hi all
I have a MSI big bang marshal B3 with a 2600K cpu, i flashed the motherboard with 3.1 and 3.0 bios but can't change cpu multiplier
Finally i went back to 1.5 bios and all is good but now i have the "HECI pointer mismatch" at boot and can't find my secondary HDD in Windows.
I tried the MSI USB flashing Tools but same problem
Thanks to all for your help

You have this issue due to a downgrade without a special archive required. It is actually recommended to use bios 3.1 any way. Note that you need to use +/- keys of numpad to alter core ratio in later versions.

  • MSI Big Bang Marshal - Questions

    Hello all
I am new here and I have been doing research on components for a new computer I am making a shopping list for. I have a few questions I have not been able to find any information online. Here goes
    1. Anything specific I should know about the motherboard other then whats in the specs? Problems, quirks, etc?
    2. Does the motherboard only support 2x Dual Video cards like 2x Nvidia GTX 590 or can I use 4x Nvidia GTX 480s?
    3. P67 motherboards with the nf200 on them support 24 pci-e lanes. if I use:
    PCI_E1 - 8x
    PCI_E3 - 8x
    PCI_E5 - 8x
    PCI_E7 - 8x
    Makes up 24
    But there are still:
    PCI_E2 - 1x
    PCI_E4 - 1x
    PCI_E6 - 1x
    PCI_E8 - 1x
Left. Does that mean there are no lanes left and I coudnt even fill anything in the other 4 slots like PCI-E Sound, etc?
    4. If you do Dual, Tri, Quad-SLI and have a PhysX card, how many PCI-E lanes will your PhysX card consume? Is it set by the NVIDIA control panel, the number of lanes of the chipset divided by the mount of video cards or by the card itself?
    5. When people say Dual, Tri, Quad-SLI +PhysX, does it mean (Dual -1(PhysX), Tri -1(PhysX), Quad -1(PhysX) or does it mean (Dual +1, Tri +1, Quad +1)?
    6. I know Scalability of increasing arrays of video cards is pretty poor, but could I do Quad SLI +PhysX using the MSI Big Bang Marshal?
    7. Which is most advantageous, Tri SLI +PhysX, Quad SLI, Quad SLI +PhysX?
    8. Sorry, probably not related, but I wanted to do Raid with SSD's for very fast reads and writes yet have redundancy. I wanted to get some OCZ Vertex 3s and I was reading about how Raid 5 was interesting but apparently Raid 5 increases the degredation of SSD? Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions on best raid configurations?
Thank you for all of your help

By my count, that makes 32 lanes. If not done so, a lot of pre preparation information can be gathered at the MSI Global Website. All the basic & more detailed information can be found there. The downloadable pdf manual is usually much more comprehensive than the manual that comes with the board as well, & can probably answer a lot of your questions. I don't believe the board can do Quad GTX 480 SLI.

  • MSI Big Bang Marshall (Intel P67) - MSI ClickBIOS II?

Hello, MSI related population of the planet.
I would like to ask if there is a BIOS ClickBIOS v2 for the motherboard Big Bang Marshall?
MSI only informs there is a ClickBIOS and it looks like the 1st generation. However, on other motherboards
which were launched approximately at the same time (such as Z68A-GD65 or Z68A-GD80) there is a 2nd
version of MSI ClickBIOS. My question is, if the MSI ClickBIOS II is also available for Big Bang Marshall board?
I thank you kindly for your answer and wish you a nice rest of the day!
    Best regards,
    lazyone1

Best way to find out may be in contacting MSI Technical directly. Only the Z68 G3's had Click II, not the first released Z68 B3's.

I am using Corsair 850W PSU and my BIOS version is 1.5. I made an error by installing v3.0 BIOS but thanks to dual BIOS feature I was able to save my system.
I am thinking about buying those RAMs because there is a great discount on Turkey at the moment. (Nearly half price of other competitors)

  • My graphics lost its mojo on big bang marshal.

Things were going along quite happily until a week or 2 ago when things started lagging,  programs not quite opening as quick as they used to,  lags in web browser scrolling that sort of thing.  SSD was getting full so it got the business ( properly wiped with ocz tools and windows reinstalled ).  Things were still laggy so I run a 3dmark... I lost 1/3 of my graphics power.
Where I was getting 36k on vantage,  Im now getting 24k.  Ive tried all sorts of things and 3dmark scores are still low.  When Im running graphics apps,  both cores are working at 100% but the temps are not getting that high.  According to afterburner the clocks and shaders are the right speeds.   Everything seems fine but its not quite.

the main difference I can see between the first 2 links (besides obviously driver version ) is the amount of video ram being reported.  The low score reports 4gb and the fast score reports 2gb.  Its like xfire isnt working properly.   Righto,  if anyone has any ideas,  I would be all ears and love to hear them.

    HELLO
Again ME I think its a warning for a lot of you
Finely MSI contacted me  and i get my RAM nr I spend 40£ to send the motherboard to MSI in Netherland yee i was happy someone will deal with the problem I have and they will update my BIOS to make sure my CPU will be compatible with the Mobo.
Today I receive my  MOBO back I was really happy i connect all and i get in SHock nothing the same issue no Video output Monitor stays  black just like was before the debug panel is off nothing running
i check and the serial nr of the MOBO is different what mean its total new Mobo and probably coz i cant get it running its same old BIOS i spend 40£ probably to  swap new Motherboard for New Motherboard but not to fix the issue and the issue was simple i need version of bios 2.3 or higher to make it work with my CPU I7-4820K
now I don't know what to do the shop where I buy the Mobo dont want to help me and when i ask for my money back they seid its after the 30 days period and i cant get refund i just wasted 284£ all in for nothing a big black garbage what taking only space in my room now  with MSI LOGO ON IT
In MSI eyes People don't buy new rigs they just upgrade stuff
    it should be like that
I was should have  old PC with I7-3930K and then i decide to  buy new processor that how MSI Think (Why to buy 3820k or 3930k when u can get 4820 or 4930k for allmost the same price ? )
but my mistake was i  buy new processor and new Motherboard and cant get it run because in that NEW MOBO is 1.2 Ver of BIOS and without having old CPU u cant update :(
    Best Regards to everyone

  • MSI Big Bang-XPower II More MB RAM than the CPU can handle...

I understand reading in a few forum post :" By making more memory available to the system more data can be cached in RAM, so there will be less hard drive activity, and less swapping to memory so your system will perform better." But what happen when motherboard for a desktop that supports( and had install) more RAM than the processor can handle?(aka:processor Max Memory Size).
Please comment in this configuration.as I 'm looking for a MB than offer me the more SATA6 connection i found a few available using LGA2011 socket (MSI Big Bang-XPower II LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6GB/s USB 3.0 XL ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS) than support 128GB. As I understand the processor Intel® Core™ i7-3930K Processor only work with 64GB.
Is there any advantage to have a MB that hold a bigger RAM capacity than the CPU? If so, how can this be translate using in a program like Adobe After Effects, RAM preview? thank

More Memory doe's not make it faster as its Volatile Memory (more RAM but it has to be run at much slower speeds) that is very short term and is just a buffer for active Programs and files it Caches there while its active but in no way improves system speed (as it has to be clocked slower to allow the IMC on the CPU to cope with it)! more memory just allows more Active Large programs and files open at the same time and huge amount of ram will only really be of benefit for things like Video Editing, photo editing and 3D rendering as those take alot of ram to allow all the computations that the CPU does to be held for quick access but only when they are active!
having more RAM then your CPU can Handel is a VERY BAD IDEA as it will just refuse to even post or in very rare cases damage the CPU's IMC leading to a dead CPU!
why MSI have done that is for possible later 2011 CPU's that may allow the 128GB of RAM limit to be used but currently they do not exist currently as X79 is a more professional grade Platform that will probably be around for years to come (may be used for many upgrade cycles and may eventually have a cpu that can use 128GB or ram) and who knows what will happen with Intel CPU's in that time frame! (more of a possible forward compatibility thing as its a very high end platform)
as for after effects it uses RAM for  holding Render Files so in theory more ram will just allow it to render Larger files that are more complex without hitting the Available Ram ceiling that your computer has but it will not render any faster as a result it just gives it more headroom to work in!
so overall more ram = more Active space available & no increase in speed (actually maybe a drop in speed as it needs to run slower causing LAG/Latency) so it all depends what is important to you here to whether more ram is of any benefit or just a hindrance but that is down to your own use case scenario!

  • MSI Big Bang. MSI LiveUpdate failed.

I'm doing a review for one of the hardwares by MSI. And while I was doing it halfway, the card keep crashing which I believe is driver issues. But even after updating to the latest driver, 10.12a hotfix, the problem still persist. So I asked around what should I do and most of the answers I received is "update your BIOS".
Okay, so I take heed of their advice and updated my BIOS to 1.4 using MSI Live Update 4. stupid me! And after using that tool to update it, my computer is stuck at the Windows "Welcome" screen, and the whole screen turn blue after that. So I tried to flash the old BIOS @ M-Flash, I selected "BIOS Update" and then I continued to "Save and Exit". And it restarts again and I hit "DEL" to go back to the BIOS. Guess what? the instead of "BIOS Update", it's "Disabled". I tried clearing CMOS and everything, but it still fails. Now I can't even flash the old BIOS.
it's a hassle to RMA stuff, I'm sure you guys understand right?  :-X
    here is my specs.

    Kingston Value RAM 2X2GB
    MSI HD6870
    MSI HD6850 Cyclone Power Edition
    Samsung SpinPoint F3
    Seasonic X-750W

I am not talking about M-Flash.
    Please do this:
    1. Prepare USB Flash Drive for booting DOS (do that on a second computer that has Windows on it):
    - Dowload the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and the DOS-Files.rar archive which I am attaching to this reply
    - Install the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and extract the DOS-Files from the DOS-Files.rar archive to a folder of your choice
    - Start the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool , select your USB Flash Drive, set the File System to FAT32, mark the Create a DOS startup disk option and then point the tool to the folder which contains the DOS Files you extracted.
    - Click "Start" and let the tool prepare your USB Flash Drive
    - your USB Flash Drive is now bootable
    2. Copy BIOS File and Flasher to the prepared Flash Drive:
    - Download the v1.4 BIG Bang Fuzion BIOS Archive via this link: http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/bos_exe/7582v14.zip
    - Extract the BIOS File (A7582IMS.140) and the Flasher (AFUD4310.EXE) from the downloaded archive and copy both files to the prepared USB Flash Drive
    3. Boot from the prepared USB Flash Drive:
    - unplug ALL(!) hard drives, optical drives, floppy drives, card readers etc. from your system (so that the prepared USB Flash Drive will be the ONLY(!) drive attached to it
    - when you start the system it has no other choice than to boot from the USB Flash Drive after you press F2 when you get the CMOS Checksum error
    - you should then reach the DOS Command Prompt
    4. Flashing the BIOS from the DOS Command Prompt:
    - simply enter AFUD4310 A7582IMS.140 /P /B /N /C
    - ... and wait until the flash procedure finishes
    - once the flash procedure is done, turn off your system, unplug your PSU from A/C power and >>Clear CMOS<< again
    - press F1 to enter BIOS Setup and load "Optimized Defaults" --> then Save & Exit and see if the problem is gone or not
Please only use one(!) memory module in the first black slot when you do this procedure!

  • MSI BIG BANG Xpower II boot issue - LED code 9A

    Hello all,
I am facing to issue after BIOS update from 2.6 to 2.7. After update was machine working properly. But after one crash of OS cant boot at all. Crash was probably caused by overloading GPUs but there were no issue with cards and this board during 3 weeks of 100% GPU and CPU load. No video (connected only one GPU card), no Numlock key/led is working (this is good test if PC is reacting even no picture).
Board: MSI BIG BANG XPOWER II
    Bios: Version 2.7
    VGA:  4x AMD SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 290x

    - switch BIOS from A to B also C (with small switch).
    - cleared Cmos with onboard button.
    - removed Battery for a while
System start booting and stuck always on 9a LED code.
From manual it looks like it is USB, SATA initialisation phase.
I think CPU or Mem should be fine.
Anyone who met this issue or any sollution?
I am thinking to replace this board under warranty.
    Thanks for any info..

    Hi Froggy,
    Thanks for reply.
But I have tried disconnected all USB devices and got same LED code. If this happend because of some USB configuration in BIOS why reset of CMOS did not help?
It very well could be setting(s) in the BIOS, but I am not qualified to be of much assistance when Win 8/8.1 is involved.

  • MSI Big Bang-XPower, Corsair AX1200W and 6-pin motherboard connector

Hello, I apologize if this has been answered but I didn't seem to find it on the forums. I have the Corsair AX1200 power supply and the MSI Big Bang-XPower motherboard. The board has two ATX 8-pin connectors. I know that the second one is only needed if you are doing serious overcloking. But I assume it's ok to plug both in whether or not I'm overclocking?? I see the AX1200 has two EPS/ATX 8-4 pin connectors so I am fine there.
My real question is that the mother board also has an ATX 6-pin connector for the graphics card. Firstly, is this needed since the graphics card has it's own power connector (I have the EVGA SuperClocked 015-P3-1582-AR GeForce GTX 580). The card needs a PCI-E 6 pin and an 8 pin connector. I see the AX1200 has six 6+2 pin connectors so I believe I'm fine there.
But for the motherboard connector, can i use one of the PCE-E 6+2 pin connectors (just 6 pins obviously), or is this not good sine the connector is not labeled as an ATX connector?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Bumping this as it is the question I have. How does the motherboard access this power from the EPS? It is constantly available to the cpu? Would it not be better to plug in the 2x8 pin EPS anyway as it gives a greater redundancy?
I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I recently got flamed on a forum for carrying on about connecting the EPS cables up to my Corsair Ax850. The flamers carried on and on about how I would never need to use the EPS unless it was LN2 cooling.
I cannot see the harm in it but I would like to understand computer power supplies a bit more and how exactly they work. For example why do some vid cards have 6 pin and other 8 pin when it looks as if both plugs just have a 12 volt lead on one row and the other row a ground lead?
    Anyhoo.
    Happy first post to me.
