  • Help with the new Bios 1.56 AND RAM Q

can high voltage for Ram, A-DATA 2X512 DDR500   2.85 for this case, can cause instablity, how do i know when to raise it, because it look like running fine with 2.70, and i oced it to 270mhz , 4000 in sandra.   so what should the voltage be? and what problem can high voltage do?
and in the new bios there is the REFRESH RATE (TREF)  and some crazy numbers, how should i know what to set it,
in A64 TWEAKER there is same option, Refresh Rate (TREF) , of course i am using the 200mhz, but can the 200mhz 15.6us cause to instabilty instead of the 3.9us ?
when ocing or not? how should i know if it causing any problems?
I am very very confused because i don't know how to oc right, i sometimes have crashes and blue screens when trying to oc, because always there is one option or setting that can make the instablity and to get real, there too Freaking many,
and how do i know for sure that Agressive timing doesn't causing to any errors or anything else? crashes and all kind.
PLZ if someone could answer those question i will be greatly happy, because i have no idea what to look for and i have some anoying problem with that, my ram is good for ocing and i really want stable ram with max speed.
and i think i am using the 1T i cant change it or anything. no where to change anyway.

  • Northbridge temps and the new bios update

I know the Northbridge temperature issue has been posted before. But I’m posting in relations to the new bios update supposed to be released 08/24. Will these temp issues be resolved in this new bios update?
There could be many reasons why the Northbridge temps are so high, ranging from bad heatsink design to Northbridge fan blowing too fast. Mine runs 55C idle which is way too high…but when I go to touch the heatsink, it’s barely warm. A lot of people have been complaining about the “light show” on the Northbridge, but heck I like it. I think it’s pretty cool
One last thing I’d like to bring up, this new bios update, I don’t know whether or not 1.6 supports DDR500mhz Ram (because I don’t have it yet) but will it support it? Reason being is I plan on buying DDR500mhz Ram and do some more overclocking.
1:1 Cpu to Ram ratio here I COME!!! :D

ROFLMAO  (first sign of insanity when you laugh about a such sad matter)
Maesus, its nothing personal, but do you really believe there will be a v1.8 BIOS? To me it looks like MSI has abandoned the 875P. BIOS v1.7 is supposed to come when? ...August 28th? That's 2 months since the last one and as far as I have heard there has not much changed over v1.6. When is v1.8 supposed to come? Another 2 months later? Not to speak of v1.9... That makes about 5 months to get the board working the way it was supposed to do from the first day (if v1.7 solves something at all).
Sorry, but MSI is about to lose all trustworthiness with this so called support. And moderators in a company's forum who are not even employees of that company, and have to take guesses (see Prescott support) about the products, do not help to make the situation much better (again, nothing personal). If the support team would take a look by themselves on a regularly basis (1-2 times a week) perhaps then the problems would be solved much faster. If I would work like this and not care about the customers I would have lost my job long ago.
There are still many problems. The board is on the market for some months now and memory compatibility and timings are still an issue.
I've visited many forums the last week. And I do hear (read) almost the same everywhere: Poeple who bought the 875P board say its high quality and has good features, if it only would work as supposed. MSI miserably fails to give it a working BIOS. Results in polls about "MSI 875P board good or bad" tend to be weighed horribly to "bad". Most of the ppl will never again buy a MSI board because they feel left alone with their problems.
It is clear that ppl who are satisfied do not post that in forums. But when something is wrong, they do, because they want the problems solved. But what are support forums good for when no one is listening to the complaints?
In times who prices are almost the same for the products, ppl tend to buy that product, that not only has the best features but also good support. When it comes to that MSI is not first choice.

Once you have the correct TabCandy build installed, you can't let it update because that version points to the wrong update package.

Depending on your choice of workflows, it appears you can still
    1) Add chapter marks manually with QT 7 Pro,
    2) Add chapter markers graphically using GarageBand,
    3) Use a video editor to set chapter markers graphically,
    4) Use a DVD conversion/burning app to set specific or add equi-interval chapter markers, or
    5) Use a media/device player that adds playback only chapter makers when no chapter track is embedded within the file.
What kind of chapter markers are you referring to here? Mine are not "stripped out" during normal use but can be automatically removed during various conversion workflows.

  • WHEN IS ADOBE BRINGING OUT THE NEW PAGEMAKER FOR MAC?

Adobe has photoshop elements for those who don't want photoshop.  What about pagemaker for those that don't want to drink the In Design cool aid?
Am I really the only one complaining about the untimely death of pagemaker?  I am a dual user- I have PC's and Mac's in my house.
I have gone through the transition of Wordstar to Ami Pro to Microsoft word.
I have gone through the transition of Visi Calc (on an apple II) to Lotus 1-2-3 to Excell.
I will be damned if I'm going to switch from Pagemaker to In Design.  I've been using pagemaker since 1990.  MY GOD THAT'S 20 YEARS!!!!  Longer than some of you have been alive.  I have a right to claim upgrade fatigue god damn it!!!!!!!!!
I can run pagemaker on a pc.  And that's where I go everytime I want to use it.  But my main computer is this mac I'm typing on right now.
I WANT TO RUN PAGEMAKER ON A MAC!!!!!!   I WANT TO RUN PAGEMAKER ON A MAC!!!!!!   I WANT TO RUN PAGEMAKER ON A MAC!!!!!!
Is that too much to ask?
AM I A MONSTER FOR WANTING SOMETHING SO SIMPLE?
It's a great program, it's a fantastic program.  Adobe, why do you want to kill it.  What did it ever do to you but bring you money.  Is that such a crime?

    Thanks for the response.
I just might try out page plus- when I absolutely have to.  I might not upgrade to Win 7 if it won't support pagemaker.
I love pagemaker!  It is completely part of me.
PS:I'm going to have to change that message that automatically appears at the bottom of all my emails.

Subject: WHEN IS ADOBE BRINGING OUT THE NEW PAGEMAKER FOR MAC?
Bacause I said so, you may find Bob and Big John's responses to you post a somewhat harsh. I'd call them suscinct and to the point. Nevertheless, they are quite correct. PM is dead. PM will NOT be fixed, upgraded or updated to run on Win Vista, Win 7 or the latest version of Mac OS X. So from that point of view, you HAVE to get over it! Unless of course you continue to run Win 2000 or XP.
Of course, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. One option is to use Win 7's XP mode. I do not have time to go into haow XP Mode works. Suffice to say that you need Win 7 Pro or Ultimate and an Intel or AMD cpu that supports virtualisation. How good is it? Well, I use an acient DOS program. on Win XP mode and it runs perfectly well. In this case I have no choice other than to use a true copy Win XP (which has nver been installed on this PC). XP mode is a perfectly viable alternative to this.
That said, I would NOT run a complex app such as PM on Win XP mode. Not that it would not work, but more from the point of view that XP Mode should be seen as a temporary fix or where an old program has to be used which will NOT gain any upgrades or updates and where NO OTHER alternative program exists, such as my old DOS program.
With PM, there is an upgrade called InDesign. Yes, you may not like this situation, and neither did I a few years ago. However, the writing was on the wall for PM as soon as InDesign was announced in 1999 and launched in 2000. PM was then 'downshifted' into becoming a business publishing platform to compete more with the likes of MS Publisher, hence the more business orientated marketing. As time went on it became clear that the future of Adobe's publishing focus was InDesign, even though I was assured at an Adobe seminar years ago that PM would continue with more InDesign features!
Remember, InDesign was not only a response to the technical challenges og making PM comlient with thae latest Win and Mac OS's, it was also a response to QuarkXpress which had left PM far behind by 1992.
Adobe is not the only answer of course. No one is forcing you to use InDesign. If I were you, I'd strongly consider PagePlus. It runs on Win Vista and 7 and no doubt packs a lot more up to date featutes than PM 7 does right now. It is also updated, upgraded AND supported! Or if you're happy to use what is essentially a drawing program with some DTP options, give CorelDraw a look.

  • GTX580 TFII artifacts with the new bios

    Hello everyone.
I got a brand new sealed GTX580 TFII as a replacement for my old one that had a problem with one of the 2 fans. My previous card had the old bios installed which gave 1.00mV so the card was not stable. Finally I updated the bios from the MSI website and the voltage increased to 1.025mV so everything was fine.
The new one came with the 1.025mV installed out of the box so I didn't have to do any tweaking. Thing is that it's not stable even with 1.025mV. I constantly get crashes with artifacts in Deus Ex and Battlefield 3 which happen to be DX11 games and therefore more demanding graphics wise.
What do I have to do now?? It's the second time I have problems with this particular card.

Quote from: agelosLX on 31-October-11, 07:46:51
To be honest, I find 1.050mV way too high for such clock speeds (800/1200).
Yea well its not THAT HIGH, 1.100mV and more is high and for overclocking, but 1.050 and even 75 are fine. My stock voltage with this card was 1.038mV as seen in Afterburner and it was crashing on BF3 and Crysis. Right now, I'm testing 1.075mV. So far no crash.

  • How do I get MSI to Send a New BIOS Chip? (EOM)

    .

    Hi Curbstone -
If you are in the United States, call their technical support number at (626) 581-3001.  You'll have the best luck if you get through to a live person.  My personal experience at getting a new BIOS chip out of their California Technical Support office was that voice mail messages left at technical support result in no response, e-mail message result in no response, faxed in problem report forms result in no response.  When the line was personally answered, I had a new BIOS chip in hand three business days later, free of charge.
If you are elsewhere in the world, click on the Contact Us link at http://www.msi.com.tw .
Another option is to link to http://www.badflash.com and request they send you a replacement BIOS chip.  Cost is US$20 plus shipping.  It may be necessary to e-mail them the BIOS you wish to have flashed.
The following assumes that you have a K7N420 Pro board (you don't have a sig line to tell otherwise...):
If you know someone with an EPROM burner (or are friendly with a local electronics or computer store that has one) you can download the BIOS image of your choice and have it burned onto a new chip.  The chip is either a Winbond 49F002UP12B or a SST 49LF020. The chip is a Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier (or PLCC) module. Shouldn't cost too much (maybe US$10 - 20).  You can pull the PLCC module from your board carefully using a small jewelers screwdriver or use a PLCC Chip Puller from Radio Shack - part # 276-2101 (about US$8.).

  • Can't install MSI Live Update for new bios

    Hi all,
sad to say, I too have the problem of MSI Live not installing.
Just bought a GTX 970 Gaming 4G and the Live update says "this platform is not supported". I tried the version from the disc and the version offered by the MSI support site. Both led to the same experience.
Would be great if you could help me out checking my bios and providing me with the newest one if needed.
(Instructions would be great though too )
    S/N: 602-v316-050B1501006790

Thank you for the information flobelix!
Whats bothering me now is the Live update.
Can I ignore that or should i wait for a new version?
    Additional info:
    Netframework 4.5.2 is installed.
Board: ASRock ZH77 Pro3, latest bios installed.

  • MSI give us a new bios that will work

Why dont you release a new bios the latest one is dated 15/8 thats 2 MONTH now. Corecenter make other program lockup, max Vcore is 1.5volt no matter what I set it in bios and corecenter (And I'm not the only one that have this problem), Where is the Agp/pci lock that you promised to release in 2 weeks for 2 weeks ago? Lucky me that I bought an k8v also because this bord aint gono OC anything with a Vcore that stuck on 1.5 volt.

I think asking for a new BIOS that will "work" is a misleading.. The one the board ships with is working perfectly except for those who overclock. Challange MSI to give you a real OCers beta BIOS this thread here might give some people the impression that the boards don't work at all when they work just great.

  • MSI X58 PLATINUM, the latest bios and how to enable turbo boost

    1) Wich motherboard is ? MSI X58 PLATINUM or MSI X58 PLATINUM SLI ?
    2) What is the lastest version Bios and where can i get ?
    3) How to enable turbo boost in this motherboard ?
    4) Thanks so much guys.

My bad. The obvious lack of your self research got the better of me. I do not take helping, if I can, lightly. This is new technology, & a lot of expertise is in short supply. I downloaded the manual on this board & read the bios section, & in CMOS Setup, you should find an "Enable" setting for Turbo Boost. If you don't, please contact MSI Tech Staff @ http://ocss.msi.com.tw Also, (in your manual), is a reference under "Intel Turbo Boost Tech", which clearly states "for further information please refer to Intel's official website". By your original post, CPU-Z says it's an SLI? What did you buy? Does it say on the retail box? At MSI's website, the X58 Platinum (not the SLI), has version 1.0 bios offered in three global region zip files. M7522v1.0 Euro.zip, M7522v1.0 ASIA.zip, & E7522v1.0.zip. J.T.N. is correct, the SLI board takes something else. Are both boards bios's compatable? I have no idea. Recommend step one as to confirm with MSI what board you truly have & go from there.
