MSI CD-RW 8348A w/150D problems

Ok, I got a 8348A (48x 16x 48X) drive. I try and browse cd-rw discs but doesnt read them. Nero detects the writer and XP does (intermittently). But when I try and flash firmware with new 160D the flash prog says:
NO CD/CD-RW found...
It wont burn onto CD-RW discs, says they are not blank discs...
Is this a faulty drive do you reckon? I upgraded my board BIOS as before windows wouldnt even recognise the drive. Now it does but i get above probs.
Anyone have any ideas?

firmware 150D is the firmware that came with CD-RW!
Firmware 160D is that from MSI download page... does say XP, 2000, 98 etc.. theres just one file...

  • MSI GTX 680 fan automatic speed problem

Hi guys..first sorry for my bad english..
I buy today MSI GTX 680 and I have problem with automatic fan speed...i had GTX 570 TF and that was working perfect but with GTX 680 I have weird problem, when GPU temperature goes up, fan RPM speed goes down
    Screenshot:
Now I disable auto speed and set speed manually, but that's not best solution becouse I must manually set higher speed when i want play BF3, Call of duty MW3 etc...
    Anyone know what is problem?
I update GPU drivers, MSI afterburner ( 2.2.0 ), chipset drivers...
    Thanks!

Fans or other spare parts aren't sold separately. If your vga is still covered by warranty contact MSI if seller refuses rma: >>How to contact MSI.<<
That of course means the vga needs to be rma'ed. Alternatively you can use an aftermarket cooler like Alpenfoehn Peter, Prolimatech MK26 or Accelero Xtreme III

CX640DX is unfortuntaley not verified for Win 8 upgrade (http://event.msi.com/2012/know_win8/upgrade.html). In fact it is not eligible for Windows 8. Therefor MSI will not  provide any support, bios or drivers for Win 8 and this model. Nothing more can be said about it. • Kt3 ultra2 + MSI 8348A CD/RW problem

i don't know why but when i check settings for CDRW, it's running only in PIO mode...i suppose this writer supports UDMA33 mode, am i right? does somebody knows where's problem?
    my system:
    XP1600+, kt3ultra2, 256 MB pc266, maxtor diamax+ 30GB, windows XP + service pack 1
    thank for answer...
    have a nice day

You can change it to DMA mode.
Device Manager -> IDE controller -> Primary/Secondary IDE Channel -> Advanced Settings -> Transfer mode "DMA if available"
Or you have already set and it is still PIO mode? Try to update the IDE controller driver again by manually selecting from the driver list.

  • MSI Geforce 3 WDM and bios problem plz help!!!

    Hi
I have a MSI Geforce 3 Ti200 Pro-VT and when i install any detenator driver above 23.11 then the capture card wont work! The driver for the capture device says it wont start so i am stuck with 23.11. I have tries later WDM drivers and detenator drivers but they all give the same problem! I have also tried to flash the bios but live update 2 says Your Display Card does not support MSI Live Update 2 function which it is supposed to have. When i go directly to the bios page and try to update it then the update fails. The flash program seems to think that i have a different card or something but my  system information says that i do. This it the information:
    VGA Card Manufacturer MSI
    VGA Card Model Name MS-8850
    VGA Card BIOS Vendor NVIDIA
    VGA Card BIOS Version 3.20.00.18.03
    VGA Card Driver Version 2311
Can someone please help me cause it would be nice to have the latest drivers working for the card.
    Thanks
    Nixus

I downloaded the bios files from http://tw.msi.com.tw/autobios/SVga/Bios/Ms8850/v111/ and then downloaded NVFLASH.EXE and booted in dos and flashed the card i had to force the flash though it had some conflict of data or something but i knew it was the right bios and i had made a backup of the current one plust the card has dual bios so i wasnt too worried and it all worked out fine.
Goodluck with gettin all your cards workin

  • MSI KT3 Ultra ARU Mem timing problems?

As experienced by myself as well as Maximum PC Magazine during testing. Using high quality memory such as Samsung PC2700 DDR on the MSI KT3 Ultra ARU, if you set the cas latency timings to the most agressive settings, next time you try to boot into Windows, your OS crashes and the registry gets corrupted. Also the board actually interprets CAS 2.5 memory as CAS 2. I am sure a BIOS update will fix this problem, however who else has had this problems?

  • MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU power supply problem

    Hello !
I am a lucky owner of MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard but have one problem. My power supply Fortron (FSP Group) 300-GT 300W seems to have some kind of incompatibility with this motherboard. In my case, the computer can't be shutted down by software. With BIOS version 2.5 it was impossible to shut it down with button too. With 2.6 it is possible to turn the computer off by button but software shutdown still don't work. PSU is working on ALL other boards I have tested so far normally. Somewhere in discussions (not in this forums) I discovered that also some kind of weird sounds occurs with Fortron supply on this board and that it is incompatible. Have anyone some clues to solve this PSU problem ? I am not able momentally to buy some other kind of PSU because Fortron is the only brand from higher category to obtain, so I would be like to solve this.....
    Thanks for any info !

PSU is powering Athlon XP 1700+ processor, the other big power consumer is GeForce4 Ti 4200 GPU. I am not able read currents for specific voltage outputs, so I am not able to measure whole power consumption. Computer is working normally, it is NOT overclocked (but it is stable overclocked too) and the only problem is PSU shutdown by software (win & linux, both of them has this problem). From BIOS v2.6 it is possible to shutdown the computer by power button. If it is tried by software, computer resets itself and three beeps occurs.

  • Msi ge60 2pc apache pro fan problem

So 2 days ago, while I was playing some games. I noticed that my fan made a weird noise. Like the fanblades are hitting something. So I opened the notebook up and cleaned it from dust, even though there really wasn't that much dust.
I looked at the fan if it was hitting something but I really can't see anything? What could be the problem. I only have this notebook for like 3 months and I'm not really looking forward to sending it to msi and having to do without my notebook for a few weeks. I need it at home and at school.
    Thank you.

that rattling noise sems to be fan layer is wearing off early :/ so yeah for it to be fixed free you would sadly have to send it to MSI Service in your country where they will open your laptop up have look at fan and confirm that fan is wearing out so they will re-place it with new one under warranty if you still have vaild warranty

  • MSI big bang xpower ii memory problems

Hello! I wasn't sure where to post this question, so If it is in a wrong subforum please forgive and transfer it to the correct one.
Story is, I have msi big bang xpower ii motherboard, runnig 3930k, c1 cpu. I have two memory sets, both tested extensively, 1) gskill ripjaws 2133 32gb 4x8 (one matched set), 9/11/10/28 1.65v and 2) gskill ripjaws 1600 16gb 4x4gb 9/9/9/24 1.5v, also one matched set.
I updated bios to 1.2 (i think that's the latest official one).
Problem is, in 2133 mode, i can only post with 1 stick. With set 1) in 1600 mode I can post with 2 sticks (any slots as shown in manual). With set 2) in 1600 mode, I an post with 3 sticks (also any slots as shown in manual). That's it. Any other configuration (for example quad channel or 8 sticks) will not post, I get error 67.
I tried manual mode as well as XMP. It seems in XMP mode i don't even get to error 67, it just keeps rebooting and rebooting, rebooting on error code 19.
Does anyone run this 2133 set at 4x4gb ? If so could you please possibly give me your OC settings? I tweaked vccsa, pll and dram voltage, but no luck.
    Thanks in advance.

It won't boot in quad channel even in 1333. Manual says, if you number slots A B C D | E F G H, quad channel is  A _ C _ | _ F _ H . It will not post in this configuration. Neither of my two sets (even 2133 running in 1600 or 1333). However,  A B C D | _ _ _ _ will post in 1600! I tried this out of curiosity and this is technically an invalid configuration? It's not even mentioned in the manual. It also seems to me the system will never post if I have something in slot G.
I also must add both of my kits are tested, additionally my asus rive can run quad set in 2133 just fine.
I set 1.5v kit at 1.5, then tried 1.520. For 1.65v kit, i tried 1.5, 1.520 and 1.65 and next one I don't remember i think 1.68. I tried vccsa (system agent) 1.15 - 1.30, also, why is PLL so high on this board? I am seeing ~ 1.77 (I did set it at 1.8 later).
Also what are the modes 1-7? Where can I find more information about those?
Should I RMA this board? I can probably get it replaced within a day or two.
I also must note, I have the worst luck ever with lga 2011 boards. It took me 3 tries to get normal rive, and now this. Sigh.

  • MSI BIG BANG TRINERGY dual channel problem!

Hey forum, I just installed a newly bought msi big bang trinergy. Everything went according to plan except from the point where I installed the 4gb (2x2gb) ram dimms( I have the XMS3, 4gb kit by Corsair).
Let it be noted that i followed the instruction manual and installed the dimms in the proper slots. Then when the moment of truth came and powered up my pc, it wouldnt boot. It would go into an endless restart cycle without booting. Then i unplugged the dimm3 and started only using dimm1 and everything went well. I also switched the ram dimms (in case one of them was faulty) and placed it in dimm1 and again there was no problem.
My take on this situation is that there must be some hardware problem concerning DIMM3. I also run a BIOS update in hopes that something might change but no luck.
..So what is your take on this?
Thank you in advance for the advice.
P.S Since i had a P55 mobo before Big bang i read that format is not necessary so i didnt format the pc. Can that be the cause of the dual channel mal-function?

Quote from: Jack on 11-May-11, 22:57:43
    Nope.
There are a couple of explanations for the behaviour:
    1) there is a problem with the modules
    2) the memory slot itself or underlying circuits is/are defective
    3) there is a short circuit problem somewhere inside the case which basically blocks that particular memory slot
    4) the CPU (or its memory controller) is defective
    5) there is some sort of pin-contact problem [bad contacts between the board's socket pins and the contact pads of the processor], caused by bent or broken pins or by too much pressure exerted by the CPU's heatsink
I would start poking at explanation 3) by testing the board outside the case on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration and, in case that does not change anything, go for number 5): take off the heatsink and inspect both socket pins and contact pads for any irregularities [use a magnifying glass!]
I went to a technician to check the mobo where we tried different memory modules and cpu (100% working ) on a bench table. The pins on the mobo were not bent or anything. We checked all the points you mentioned that needed to be checked but still the problem persisted so it was a memory slot problem. Thanks for all the help! Really appreciate it, the replaced mobo works perfectly

  • MSI X48C Platinum - Graphic card identification problem

    Hi,
I have been having this problem for a long time which I still haven't been able to solve.
When I plug my graphics card to the PCI-E slot 1 (Slot closest to the cpu) I get nothing on my monitor. I have to plug it on to the  PCI-E slot 2 (PCI-E 4) to get anything on the monitor. I am running Windows 7 (64bit) Professional.
With this configuration (That is, the graphics card being installed in slot PCI-E4) I am getting a lot of blue screen failures due to  graphics card being non-responsive, especially when running graphic intensive programmes.
Here are the details of my PC configuration.
Motherboard - MSI X48C Platinum (MSI MS 7353)
    RAM  - 6GB DDR3
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300  -  2500Mz
    BOIS - Version 7.4V
    Graphics card - Hightech Radeon HD4870  1GB DDR5
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Cris

    Hi go_for,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am using a Aerocool 750W  (model VP-750)power suppy and the graphics card is connected with 2 PCI-E power connectors from the power supply.
The problem is that it runs on the other pci-e slot not the first one. Could the first slot be defective?
    Thanks

  • MSI x48c PLatinum and Intel E8600 Problem

    Hello, I'm from Greece
    My computer Setup is:
Mobo: MSI X48C Platinum (bios version 7.0)
CPU: INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8600
    PSU: HEROLCHI 525 Watt
    RAM: OCZ OCZ3SOE10664GK DDR3 4GB (2x2GB)
    VGA: Albatron 8800 GTS
    HDD: WD 300GB SATA
    The problem is:
I bought them yesterday because i want to upgrade my system.
I connect them all properly in my case and after i turn the PC on it freeze in the MSI logo screen and cant even enter BIOS Setup.
The first time i turned the power on a message like: "Your previous overclockinn atempt was not succssefull. Press a button except del to load defaults and continue." i do what it said and freeze after that message.
This just the first time, the other times it just freeze on the logo screen. Some times it beeps one time and reset by his own and sometimes beeps four times and then reset. The most of the times it just freezes in the logo screen.
I took everything off and reinstall them. Nothing Happen.
I tried with one dimm of RAM each time in deferent positions. Nothing Happen.
I did o clear CMOS from the back button. Nothing Happen.
I perform a clear CMOS with the old method (unplug power, remove battery, wait for a couple o minutes). Nothing Happens.
I believe the problem is with the bios version i have and the CPU compatibility. I look at www.msi.com.tw and it said that this board its compatible with the INTEL E8600 but only at the 7.2 version.
How will i update my bios if my computer doesnt even enter bios setup?
Please help me. any suggestion. I'm losing my mind here!
    Thanks you in advance.

Quote from: triangle on 28-August-08, 17:00:43
the only thing i can suggest is to drop in a 7.0 compatible CPU (if you can) and flash the BIOS to 7.2 that way then switch back in your new CPU.  A painful process, I know ...  Alternatively, if your retailer is friendly they might set it up on a test bench for you and flash it.
    Andrew
Like Andrew mentioned, this is the only way out though it is a long painful process.
The other is to get a board that is compatible to the E8600 right out of the box.
