MSI Clickbios IV

I have very specifically ordered MSI boards for some of our security related appliances. The choice is based on the fact that all prior motherboards to the model we purchased
1) retained settings after upgrading the bios with LiveUpdate
...and
2) Clickbios allowed us to set the "start after power failure" to always on via TeamViewer
Now, for some unknown reason our appliances based on the following MOBO: H97M-E35 fail to start after power failures. There are a few critical issues that causes this: On these Motherboards the bios settings revert to factory settings after upgrading, and to make matters worse Clickbios II doesn't work on these. To make matters from bad to really awful, Clickbios4 which is supposed to work cannot be found anywhere on the internet for download. What do we do here?
As it is, we need to fly all across the country to resolve this debacle, but if we can at least permanently fix this situation it will do some good. We have on appliance that is still online, so a download link for Clickbios 4 will save us a small fortune...

What do you mean by "upgrading"? BIOS update? Or what other upgrade do you mean?
If possible, please tell us BIOS version you currently have.
Did you reinstall Intel Management Engine and other required drivers when you flashed BIOS?
For any reason, you might also want to contact MSI as soon as possible, as with the ClickBIOS software, they might be able to help on this a bit quicker: >>How to contact MSI.<<

  • MSI Big Bang Marshall (Intel P67) - MSI ClickBIOS II?

Hello, MSI related population of the planet.
I would like to ask if there is a BIOS ClickBIOS v2 for the motherboard Big Bang Marshall?
MSI only informs there is a ClickBIOS and it looks like the 1st generation. However, on other motherboards
which were launched approximately at the same time (such as Z68A-GD65 or Z68A-GD80) there is a 2nd
version of MSI ClickBIOS. My question is, if the MSI ClickBIOS II is also available for Big Bang Marshall board?
I thank you kindly for your answer and wish you a nice rest of the day!
    Best regards,
    lazyone1

Best way to find out may be in contacting MSI Technical directly. Only the Z68 G3's had Click II, not the first released Z68 B3's.

  • MSI ClickBIOS changelog?

    Hi..
I've been an early adopter of the new UEFI firmware that MSI supplies to some of its P45 motherboards. I own a P45D3 Platinum motherboard myself and I think it's an exciting development that MSI is doing with its new firmwares.
I recently upgraded my firmware from the original UEFI firmware file that I downloaded (E7513IMS.10E) to the one that is currently available (E7513IMS.120) through the built in firmware upgrade app in the EFI firmware.
Now... the problem is that I don't know what has changed in the new release, or why I should upgrade (I did it anyway to see if they had fixed the issue with enabling Intel VT, which they actually had). It didn't even say on the ClickBIOS page that a new release had been made, I discovered it by seeing what the download link points at.
So, is there a forum dedicated specifically to UEFI adopters where you can talk about your issues, and where new release announcements are made?

There is no special UEFI Forum and unfortunately changelogs and release announcements are hard to come by.  However, you are more than invited to start a discussion about UEFI Implementations here.  There are not very many topics about UEFI in this forum, because not very many users are seriously using it.  But the more information we make available here, the better.  And I am sure more users will pop in once we get something going here.

  • Wrong temps reported in clickbios and coretemp

    Hi all,
I have noticed with my new system build that coretemp and clickbios occasionally will report the wrong temperatures for my processor:  they display 91 degrees C.  In coretemp this shows as "91C(?)"  Has anyone else had this issue?  I know the CPU is not that hot, and upon rebooting the issue usually goes away.  System specs below:
    # Intel 3960x overclocked to 4.5 GHz (all voltages set to auto)
    # MSI X79-GD65 (D8) with v1.3 bios
    # G.Skill F3-17000CL11-4GBZL x 8 sticks = 32 GB running at 1600 MHz (auto settings in bios)
    # Nvidia Quadro FX 4600, 768MB ram
    # OCZ Vertex 3 120GB boot drive, Seagate ST1000DM003-9YN1 1TB storage drive
    # Windows 7 x64
    # Corsair TX750W power supply
FWIW, the auto cpu voltage is set to 1.368V.
    Thanks,
    DrDet

This behavior has been noted by several users. In the last reply I had from MSI Tech Suppport, MSI & Intel are in communication with each other over what appears to be a CPU microcode problem. It also surprises me the Auto V. is setting 1.368v's with 1.35v's being the recommended industry limit for the LGA 2011 CPU, with a published absolute maximum of 1.400v's in Intel's latest product datasheet. Quite a bit lower than it's Sandy B. cousins. Anyway, it is being officially looked into, so all we can do is wait & see what develops.

    Hello everybody
I've been having quite a bit of trouble with my MB/BIOS being unable to push the OC beyond 38/3.8GHZ and the RAM won't go further than 1600MHZ.. Now i was able to do this before (Had a stable 4.4GHZ with 2133MHZ RAM speed.. i'm not quite sure what's stopped me from being able to OC more than these stated values, however in ClickBIOS i can OC higher than i can in the BIOS menu on startup itself but the settings don't apply correctly
    I have a I5-3570k CPU, MSI Z77A-G45 MB, Crucial Ballistix Elite 2x4GB 1600MHZ, MSI 560ti GTX

  • MSI x79-GD65 (8d) RAM issue.

I've just recently bought a new pc. Put it together this week aswell, everything works fine except for the fact that my RAM is not capable of running quad channel. The problem is (as far as I've been able to diagnose it) that the slots to the right of the cpu, that's dimm slots 5-8, aren't working.
After installing all the parts and installing the memory in slots 1, 3, 5 and 7 (the black ones), I noticed that Windows only saw 8GB of ram rather than the full 16GB. I went into my BIOS (not clickbios but startup bios as that allows you to view Memory-Z) and found that it only detected the Ram in slots 1 and 3. I turned off the pc and put the ram in slots 5 and 7 into slots 1 and 3 to check if the ram was faulty. They were detected fine.
I put all of them in again but still no more than 8GB got detected. I swapped all the memory into the blue slots (2, 4, 6, 8). After doing so the computer wouldn't post. I then tried to boot with different ram (2 sticks of 2GB DDR3 1333mhz Mushkin) in slot 1 and 5 (that is 1 one the left and one to the right of the cpu). Only the ram in slot 1 got detected.
I then put the Mushkin in the first two black dimms (1,3) and put all the corsair ram into the blue slots (2, 4, 6, 8). No more than 12GB got detected (which was slots 1-4, 2x2gb and 2x4gb). Memory-Z confirmed that none of the ram in slots 5-8 got detected.
As a desperate last measure I took out the Mushkin ram and put the Corsair ram into slots 1-4. All of the ram got detected but for obvious reasons it was only running dual channel.
I've read on this and other forums that sometimes the cpu socket pins can be bent and that can cause memory problems, I took apart the pc again and looked at the pins, but none of them were missing nor were any bent.
The question now is how can I get quad channel ram working?
    system specs
    Motherboard: MSI x79-GD65 (8D)
    Bios: Version 1.7 (latest version)
    VGA: Gigabyte 670GTX OC
PSU: Corsair Enthusiast TX750M (750 Watt)
CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 (stock speed)
MEM: Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 (4 sticks of 4gb)
HDD: Corsair Force 3 240GB SSD.
    + 2xSamsung F3 1TB in raid 0, all on the Intel chip.
    COOLER: Corsair H100
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

For quad channle you must populate DIMM1, DIMM3, DIMM5, DIMM7 or all slots if using 8 sticks. Populating slots 1-4 has to result in dual channel.
If 1, 3, 5 and 7 won't work there's some different problem that still would indicate bent pin(s).

  • MSI P67A-G43 (B3) Boot Password - How to reset?

I am currently locked out of my MSI P67A-G43 (B3) machine, due to a bootup password. Recovering the password is not an option, I want to reset it.
I have already attempted clearing the CMOS (both with the jumper pad and with the button), and neither appears to have worked. The password has persisted through the reset. The ClickBIOS has not been updated since the board was purchased, which was one year ago.
    Any help?

Other than advice already given we do not assist in attempts at bypassing or hacking BIOS/system passwords. Reason being we have no way of knowing if parts are stolen or not or whatever reason you can't use the original p'word that was entered.
If you want to you can ask MSI for further assistance but this forum can't help with that.

  • MSI FM2-A85XA-GD65 tempature monitor

    Dear MSI,
I'm having problems with CPU temperature monitor on MSI FM2-A85XA-GD65 motherboard, every software i have tried shows zero (0) degrees Celsius, no matter what.
Bios itself shows correct temps, so i think this is bios problem. In this video they are able to monitor CPU temp with ClickBios II with bios version 1.0B28:
I tried to find newer bios with Live Update 5 but it cannot find newer than my current 1.0B15.
Can you offer me newer bios? I'm writing review of this motherboard, but this annoying problem is delaying my review to complete.

  • ClickBIOS II update for Big Bang Marshal?

Will MSI release a ClickBIOS II update for the Marshal (and/or older P67 boards like the GD53/55/65/80)? The new interface is day and night in comparison with the older ClickBIOS and is much more pleasant to work with. It would be nice if these were added for people who paid good money for their less-than-a-year-old boards, especially the $399 Marshal.

Quote from: Jack on 28-January-12, 18:42:09
The answer is most likely going to be "NO". The chipset is old already (Z68 came after that, Intel 7 chipsets are coming out soon (X79 is already out)).  Click BIOS II was never advertised for this board nor was an update promised.
Click BIOS II would also not add anything in terms of functionality, it would only be an aesthetic upgrade.
That is exactly my point as I detailed in OP. The user interface is a lot simpler to work with compared to the original ClickBIOS, and porting it over should require minimal effort as it doesn't need to adapt to any functional changes. I know very well when the chipsets were released, but P67 is the same generation chipset as Z68 with similar (less) functionality of Z68. The question is not in the chipset, but rather MSI's business model that will decide whether or not they're willing to extend their support for slightly older motherboards, not to mention they will have to release a BIOS update for all P67 boards to add Ivy Bridge compatibility anyway. If you ask me, spending less than an hour to port over the interface to extend that support would be an incentive for customer loyalty.

  • MSI Z68-GD65 G3 - multiplier drops under heavy load

    Greetings MSI,
I currently have my 2500K overclocked to 4.7Ghz (100 x 47), however when I stress this with Prime95, the multiplier fluctuates between 43 and 44.
I am using N.30 BIOS and have turned off EIST, C1E, Spread Spectrum. I've also turned off all power saving features under ECO as well as under Windows power management.
I'm not sure what is causing this, would be great if I could get some help here so that multiplier sticks to 47 even under load.
Another separate problem, ever since I updated my BIOS from N.1 to N.30, my keyboard can no longer be used outside of Windows, this includes getting into BIOS at boot and O/S selection at boot loader. I am using a Logitech G510 and in the BIOS the option legacy USB is on Auto. I've been using ClickBios for everything.

  • Unable to capture video with MSI StarForce 822 GeForce 3!

I have a MSI StarForce 822 GeForce3 graphics card with 64 MB DDR SDRAM on it. I have VGA Out, as well as TV-out (AV), TV-out (S-video), and TV-in(?) (S-video).
This brings me to two questions:
First, I have NEVER been able to figure out how to use the TV-in (S-video) port. I have tried numerous programs designed to capture video, including the one that came with the graphics card, and none of them recognize the card's TV-in. Do you have any recommendations as to how to use this port to capture video?
Second, in reading through the online manual for the graphics card on the company's website (under the name G3 Pro-VT64D MS-8822), I saw that the card supposedly has the capability of "High-quality HDTV/DVD playback" (8822 v2.0.pdf, page 8 ). However, in playing back DVD's through the card's s-video output onto my HDTV-ready monitor, I definately do not see HD quality videos. Could explain why this is the case?
I have an assignment coming up where I must do some video-editing work, and thus I am posed with a situation where I need to capture video using this card (and I can't afford to buy something new for the moment).
    Thanks for your help.
    Charles Bergmeier

If you have the Video Capture Driver installed then the video capture program should see it. On MSI site version 1.16 of the driver is available for download.
If you still have problems (e.g. too many frames lost) you can try using Virtual VCR (worked best in my case).

  • MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU video lock-ups

    Hello,
I have a 3 month old MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU.  I am running Windows XP Professional and I am having a periodic lock-up where the screen will show blinking colored blocks and the system will freeze.  Sometimes just hitting reset will cure the problem.  Other times, hitting reset will create two vertical stripes of colored blocks scrolling down the screen.  I have used the board on two entirely separate systems (One with AMD Athlon 2000+, Gainward GeForce 4200, 512 MB Samsung 2700 DDR, Western Digital Expert HD (tried both IDE #1 and RAID controller) (Other System, Athlon 1800+, a different Gainward Geforce 4200, 256 Crucial 2700 DDR, an older Maxtor hard drive).  In either system, every once in a while, the system will freeze as described above (it has happened in Netscape 7.0, Microsoft Word 2000, America's Army game).
I have played around with the bios settings, reformatted hard drives, tried various revisions of the nvidia display drivers, swapped out video cards, etc.  Any ideas?  Do I have a bad board?  Do I need to flash the BIOS?  If the board is bad, what do I need to do to return it?
    Thanks,
    Matt Gumaer

The second system has a 330 watt enermax power supply.  With the new system I put together, I put virtually the same board (MSI KT3 Ultra 2 with bluetooth and RAID), everything is the same as my first system (except the KT3 Ultra-ARU) and the stability is fine.  So, I'm reasonably confident its not the power supply.

  • MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool!!!

    Hi guys,
We the forum team have developed  a new way of flashing.
You no longer need a floppy or anything, just an USB-stick.
The tool has been tested together with MSI and as far as we have done our testing, there are no problems at all.
As long as the USB-stick is FAT or FAT32 formatted!
However, flashing is allways risky, so if it goes bad it's your own fault, but that goes for all flashing you do.
This tool is intended to flash MSI retail motherboards and laptops,
but if needs you can use any other machine to prepare the necessary stuffs and the USB stick there,
before move the USB stick to the msi product that you want to flash.
The way it works is simple: Download the package and download the BIOS from the MSI website that you want to flash.
    The rest is straight forward.
Make sure that your board is set to be able to boot from USB.
So turn on USB Legacy Support in the BIOS.
Boot and press F11 to get the boot-popup and select your USB-device to boot.
(some boards have a different key, like K8N Master uses ESC for the boot-menu)
What ever you do, make sure you read all warnings!
The forum nor MSI is responsible if it fails for you.
Nor is this software supported by MSI technical support!
Please report problems/buggs if you find them.
    currently supported OS ( both 32 & 64 bit):
Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (also Windows in Virtualbox under Linux!)
    (all kind of versions)
NOTE: If you are having problems getting your USB device to boot correctly, you may need to format it correctly as the geometry data may be incorrect. You can do that by pickup option "Fix My USB key" from the Tool or by using >>> THIS <<< tool here! For future usage you can skip this step, it need to be done only once if your stick need adjustment.

only Avast! and NOD32 report no problem detected.
in 1.13a all false positive listed above doesn't exist, but only Avast! report false positive.
Hoverer, the wave of false positive mess has been resolved along with Avast! false positive as well.
    New version is ready, 1.13c:
    - fixed false positive wave which confusing most of AV software. (all AV do not report any problems anymore)
    - fixed 3 minor bugs:
           * after finished work the tool do not quit normal as expected and hang instead, that happend in x32bit OS only when used has been asked for reboot and answered with "No". e.g. in described specified case.
           * 4th mainboard filter report positive results in some Biostart mainboard and this cause tool to false ID some Biostar board as MSI one.

    Hello everyone,
Here is my submission for the contest with 7 wallpapers (I know it's a lot... but I was inspired so... ^^ )
For the 2 first ones, I wanted some classic good looking wallpapers with the MSI Dragon being the center of it, with some high quality effects. So here they are, a bright version and a dark one.
    Hope you guys like it.
For the 5 next ones, I tried something really different. More in an advertising campaign way. Some minimalist looking wallpapers, trying to focus on simple things, no shadow effect. Art on it's purest form, simple but well thought.
I asked myself why people would chose MSI instead of another brand, so I figured the people who already know that. So I first started with the "Gamers know why" because it's obvious, then went to an iconic e-sport legend ("Legends Know Why") Mr. Patrik 'cArn' Sättermon, I think he and the Fnatic team clearly represent why people should chose MSI. So I used the Fnatic team for the third one "Winners know why", they are clearly one of the best multigaming team of the world and are sponsored by MSI for quite a few years now. (The picture is from the IEM 5 For the 4th one, I noticed that I start to see more and more MSI laptops around me, at college etc, so I thought that "The World knows why". And for the last one I tried to represent the spirit around the MSI Dragon and the whole Gaming part of MSI, that feeling of POWER. So I tried to make that last one a combination of the 2 styles. Representing the Power coming out of the Dragon... in a minimalist way. So here's "Unleash the Dragon". I hope I succeed. And I really hope you like my work. It took me several hours to complete that "campaign" and I'm really proud of it. I used the "#" system in it because as I made it as an advertising campaign, I thought it would be nice if everyone could share that spirit easily.
The picture of cArn and the one of the Fnatic team are from the internet, the rest comes from my personal pictures (textures and such) and of course everything is homemade.
    Cheers.

  • MSI 4200 Locking Ups

    Problem:
Installed new MSI 4200 v/c and now when I start any game that uses 3d graphics the entire system locks within 15-90 seconds . One of two things happens everytime - The screen freezes or the screen goes black and the sound continues. With my older v/c ASUS 7700 there are no such problems on this computer.......it is smooth
    Setup:
-350 Watt power supply (bought today just in case old one was not strong enough)
-Gigabyte GA-7VRX with newest bios (R6)
    -Athlon XP 1800+ CPU
-2X256 DDR RAM (PC2700 if I remember right)
    -Dlink 10/100 NIC
    -Creative LIVE Sound Card
    -CDROM & CD-RW (Plextor)
-Windows XP pro with SP1 and all other updates
    -Mcaffee retail 6 virus scanner
** Nothing over clocked or tweaked in the Bios **
    So Far:
    - Updated to Detonator 40.79 drivers (also tried MSI ones)
    - Updated Via 4in1 drivers to 433V
    - Added Via test Driver 1 (recommended by others on another site)
Please advise how to make this card work or tell me where and how to get a full refund. The retail store I got it from wants a 25% restocking fee if it is returned, which I'm not willing to pay because my older card is fine. So it is this MSI card or a compatibility issue and I meet all the base requirements and more.
    Thank you,
    Kent

    Did you see the number?

If you contact Gigabyte at 626-854-9338 you can obtain an RMA # to have your board reworked. To my knowledge, they are not replacing motherboards for newer revisions. If you are adamant about getting your board replaced and not reworked, you should contact your vendor, but please do not expect the vendor to go beyond their normal RMA policies to rectify this issue. They just sell the board. They will end up having to send back a number of motherboards for reworking just like the end users.
I realise that the article is dated July of this year but you could at least see where it gets you.
Otherwise, pay the restocking fee. You could end up without your system for some time if GGBite allows the RMA. You then have to ask yourself if being without the board is acceptable. What is your downtime worth?
    Man that really sucks :(
