MSI deployment problem/previous MSI Versions or Uninstaller?

I'm attempting to deploy the latest Flash Player 11.3.300.265 MSI but almost every installation is failing.  If I try to deploy the MSI manually on a problem workstation, I'm prompted for previous versions of the MSI.  Apparently the older copy of the MSI we have on our file server doesn't match what's on some of the desktops, so I receive error 1714 and the installation fails.  On workstations that have the same MSI version as what's on our file server installed, the new MSI installs properly as it's locating the previous MSI it needs.  Apparently the newer MSI packages are dependent upon whatever existing MSI is currently loaded. So my solutions appear to be:
Obtain each previous MSI package from version 10 and up and rotate the version stored on our network file share. Each workstation will then eventually see the old version it's looking for to faciliate a successful installation of the new MSI.
Find an automated way to uninstall the current version of Flash Player and run this task ahead of the new Flash Player MSI deployment task.
Option 1 would require me to obtain each previous version we may have deployed.  Is there such a file repository available?
Option 2 is something I've tried working on but have not been successful.  The Flash Player uninstaller does not seem to work correctly.  After running it I'm still prompted for the previous MSI at the original location it was deployed from.  The Player is not listed in Programs and Features/Add-Remove Programs and the Flash directories in the Windows system folders only have the Flash log file and nothing else.
Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Hi Todd
There is a "universal flash player installer" you can get it here  :  from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe.
This uninstaller gets updated with each flash player release. You also need to get the current copy to  uninstall the latest version of the flash players.
here are some notes I've placed in my script
REM WARNING a new copy of uninstall_flash_player.exe must always be used for every new Flash version.
REM from http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe
REM After downloading remove the "unblock" stream from uninstall_flash_player.exe
REM
This will get ride of all prevous version.
uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall
after this you can install the current version with the msi files.
Good luck.
Naim.

  • Application deploying problem JDevelopeStudio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0

Hi we are using JDeveloperStudio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0 and facing strange problem on few machines, when we are trying to run the application we are getting error as follows:
    [11:00:11 AM] #### Deployment incomplete. ####
    [11:00:11 AM] null
    #### Cannot run application XBSystemMasters due to error deploying to IntegratedWebLogicServer.
[Application XBSystemMasters stopped and undeployed from Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer]
Only after deleting our application folder from <C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\o.j2ee\drs> we are able to run the application for once, again if we try to run it we are getting same above error message.
To run it again we have to delete the above mention folder again by stopping weblogic server then it works properly.Every time to run the application we have to delete the folder.Complete uninstall/reinstall and even formatting of the system is also not working. The same application copied on another system with same configuration i.e Windows xp sp3 it's working there but few machines are giving this problem.
Every time stopping the web server and deleting the folder to test the code is very painful process.
Please let me know if I am making any mistake while installing or configuring JDeveloper
    Thanks!!!

Yes Frank all the development machines are with same configurations i.e XP SP3 but few machines are facing this problem ,undeploy and redeploy is not solving the problem we tried the same.Even complete shutdown of JDeveloper/pc is not solving the problem unless and untill that application folder from drs is not deleted JDeveloper is not allowing us to rerun the application again. We will try to change default user directory hope that may solve the problem. Thanks!!

I am trying to download the latest version of iTunes to my PC (windows XP) and I keep getting an error message or two. One is that it can't uninstall the previous itunes version, the other is that it can't find itunes.msi. I have tried removing  the old version in add/remove programs, but it says the same error. I tried deleting every thing that has itunes in the file/folder/etc and it didn't help.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Problem with MSI X58 Platinum SLI - IOH temperature !

    Hi guys.
    I have this PC configuration:
    - MSI X58 Platinum SLI ( Bios Version 3.8 - http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/6707/161020101249.jpg )
    - Intel Core i7 930 2.80 GHz box ( with Intel Turbo Boost running sometimes at 3.06 Ghz )
    - MSI GeForce GT240 1GB DDR5 128-bit HDMI
    - Corsair 6GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 XMS3 Triple Channel Kit ( sets to AUTO and running at 1066 Mhz )
    - Corsair CMPSU-750TXEU
    - Ordinary case ( http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/4200/161020101246.jpg & http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8480/161020101247.jpg ).
    - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
I bought my PC components 2 months ago, so they are new.
    Now, guys I think that is a problem with my motherboard. When I turn on the computer in Bios I have this temps: CPU – 30 C (86 F); IOH – 71 C (159 F); System 30 C (86 F) - http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/394/161020101242.jpg. After 2 minutes the temperatures are: CPU – 34 C (93 F); IOH – 82 C (179 F); System 41 C (105 F) and 2 more minutes later the temperatures are: CPU – 34 C (93 F); IOH – 84 C (183 F); System 43 C (109 F). After 30 minutes of doing nothing I have this temps: CPU – 35 C (95 F); IOH – 85 C (185 F); System 42 C (107 F) -
Guys it is normal with IOH temperature ? I am a little worried about it ( to be honest I am more than “a little” … I am worried a lot ).
Ok, I know I don’t have a good case but in 3 weeks I should receive this Thermaltake Spedo Advance Case (http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1121&ID=1829) and I will buy a new CPU cooler ( I don’t know yet wich one – maybe Corsair CWCH70 or Noctua NH-D14 but I have to see the case first … to be sure there is a plenty of space for those coolers ).
Pls help me with that IOH temperature. It is normal ? What if I intend to make a little OC ( lets say CPU to 3652 Mhz and RAM to 1333 Mhz … but also I will ask for your support ! ) my motherboard will burn ?
If it is necessary I will contact my retailer and send him back the motherboard but … I like MSI a lot.
Thx guys for your support !

    Hey guys,
Here is a nice cheap alternative.
Here is my story about the same issue.  I found it after looking at why my computer freezes sometimes. Not very often but enough for me to do some investigation.   I noticed my IOH temp was a whopping 117 degrees Celsius. lol.  Surprised my mobo didn't burn out by now.  I wanted to evaluate the situation with the heat sink and decided to take it off.  After taking it off I found extremely crusty purple compound on board the chipset and the heatsink.  I took me FOREVER to scrape it off. it was almost like a cement which I found odd.  After scraping and cleaning the surfaces with alcohol, I placed some silver compound on and proceeded to put it back on.
Well, upon hooking everything back up I was still at 95 to 103 degs.   Now I started to really look at the options to replace this.  I had SLI config which means I had to do something clever with the southbridge as well.  A nice thermaltake chipset solution w/fan and a low profile copper southbridge with shipping was about 45 bucks.  Hmm ... This is a sure fix from the threads I have read and its really kid of expensive to fix a simple defect. the problem is not necessarily with the heatsink not being sufficient.  Its the combo of the compound used vs the amount of pressure applied between the heatsink and chipset.  It was completely unacceptable.  I knew this right away when I was watching the temp and then I would press on the top of the IOH heatsink and I would watch it drop another 15 degrees in less then 10 seconds. The springs are extremely weak and not effective at all in transferring the heat from the NB.
Here if my fix.  Cost me less than a dollar at the hardware store and it works ideal thus far.  Do this at your own risk.  Doing this will probably void any warranty too.   All my problems are solved and I am running at 57 degrees, YES, 57 degrees with the stock heatsink and no additional cooling.
For one scrape all that old crap off like I did. Apply your new compound. But when you go to replace your heatsink, use the following method.  The trick is to use metal screws with a mobo washer, original springs from the plastic studs and a nylon locknut.  Use screws that are the same diameter and length (maybe a tad bit longer) as the plastic retainer studs.  Also grab a few of those red nylon mobo washers too, were gonna need them as well.
After scraping and applying compound, reassemble as follows.  Screw with washer inserted into the back of the mobo so the threads are out front.  The plastic/nylon washer is betweeen the screwhead and the back of the mobo as a insulator. Put the heatsink on. With the threads thru the heatsink already, put the springs on and start spinning on the locknut.  I torqued the nut down on the spring until the spring almost became fully compressed.  The purpose of the spring here is really to prevent you breaking something and at the same time using the max force of the spring since it weak to begin with. Thats why we need to compress it down pretty much all the way. There will be little to no room in the spring at this point.  The heatsink at this point should be pretty solid to the board as well.  I noticed with the plastic studs before the heatsink would wobble if you gave it a little rocking back and forth before.  Not this time. Shouldn't move much if at all.  Remember not to torque down too much. You don't want to go beyond the springs compression. Even if you did by accident, its better then not using a spring at all. If you feel that it starts to feel tight when torquing, you torqued too far. Stop an backup a 1/4 turn or so.  It is also very important to make sure both torques are equal on both sides as well. Alternate sides when torquing down.  I could tell by how much thread I had left on both sides and by looking for any uneven sides.
To summarize, the compound is a problem no doubt.  After you resolve the compound issue, its all about the adequate pressure between the heatsink and the IOH.  Much like the amount of pressure needed between your CPU and your heatsink give or take. And the pressure that would be as an aftermarket solution like the thermaltake chipset cooler. You dont see cheesy springs on that.  Wake up MSI. Simpy using a more effective spring could save MSI some cash in the long run. I envision a leafsprin design like the thermaltake chipset one.  The heatsink design could be better, sure, but the design itself is not the problem. Replace the heatsinks if you would like to, if your overclocking and stuff.  Funny, this board I have is a refurb too and only had it for a few weeks. Figured they would have done something about it.
Sorry the pics are not the best. Here is about as close as I could get to the finished product

  • Disabling Sponsors in an MSI deployment  -- Java 8u11

    Hello,
I'm looking for options to disable Sponsors in an MSI deployment for Java 8u11.  I can see the registry key created to control the checkbox, but it's under HKCU:\Software\AppDataLow\Software\JavaSoft\DeploymentProperties - install.disable.sponsor.offers sz=FALSE/TRUE.  I need to be able to control this for all users, is there a machine key to control this function or possibly MSI switch I can enable to change this?  Currently I can only find the posted .exe method and msi method is preferred here.  Any ideas would be awesome.  Thanks.
    Ryan

After some more tinkering, I have finally figured it out.
For those that are attempting to package it, here's the answer:
This key actually still works and seems to be the only way to hide the tray in Java 7:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Plug-in\1.7.0_11]
    "HideSystemTrayIcon"=dword:00000001
Java now stores the user preferences in a file per user basis here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\%USER NAME%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
Simply adding an active setup into the transform of the MST to delete that file does the trick. Java in itself will re-create it.
The reason why you might want to do that is simply because the file is left behind from previous installs, and will keep all previous preferences (in my case, my tray icon was left to on, and no matter what registry key I changed, it would stay on until I delete the file and let Java recreate it using my default deployment settings).
Hopefully someone else packaging Java for deployment can find this info useful. :)

  • CR 2008 .msi Deployment

I set Crystal Reports 2008 as a prerequisite when deploying a Visual Studion 2008 application.  With the original 2008 .msi file this worked great.  The Crystal Reports runtime installed as expected.
Since CR 2008 is now up to SP1, I replaced the original msi file with CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi.  I rebuilt my setup application.  The new msi file was packaged with the setup as expected.  However, when I run the setup program I get the EULA (and I press Accept) then I get the message that setup terminates with a error.  The error is
the publisher of CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi cannot be verified.
Is there a way to get the SP1 msi to behave like the original msi and install correctly.
    Thanks.

I ran into the same issue when attempting to add the msi as a prerequisite.
    - I used the CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.exe instead and it worked fine.
    - You'll need to modify your product.xml file so it looks like what I have below.
You can download the CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.exe from [here|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006561812009E/cr2008sp1_redinst_rfrsh.zip].

The problem is that my new R9 290 doesnt work on the first comp. When pressing the power button the fan of the GPU is maxing and makes alot of noise. Connecting my monitor to the onboard GPU i see the comp is working and is booting into windows. Updating the Bios didnt work and chosing PEG instead of IGP doesnt matter.
To check if the R9 290 is working i put it in comp2. It boots normally, and no problems. I began to wonder if the PSU of comp1 is the problem.
So i Changed the PSU of comp2 to comp1 and pushed the power button. Same as before: alot of noise and not working.
Meanwhile it Boots into windows. Connecting my monitor to the onboard video I can see it boots into windows. But  I dont see the R9 290 at all in the hardware device list.
My first conclusion: The XFX R9 290 isnt recognized by the B75MA-P45 Motherboard at all, even when i switch the PSU from comp2.
I need the card to work on comp 1 because that is my computer. (Comp2 I borrowed from a friend for testing).

Litecoin mining :P, and for the games i play the setup is more then enough. If it would work...
A tip to all the Bit/Lite coin miners:
Just plug 6 AMD graphic cards into a piece of wood and you'll become a real "miner".

  • Problems with MSI Web Live updater and Downloadable updater

First off im new and second im sorry if this is the wrong spot.
Ok i did a reinstall of windows Xp updated with Microsoft's updater all the way up to SP2. In the past i had no problems at all with the MSI Updater. Now i have problems  :(  Please read below.
    Hi i would like to know if anyone else has this problem;
I try to use the Web Browser version of the MSI Updater, well while its trying to scan it will say "Error" "service not started" about 4 or 5 times.
When i use the Downloadable version of the MSI Updater it crashes when its scanning and my computer will reboot till i go into safe mode and uninstall it.
Im going to be getting this Motherboard soon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130136  I'm not sure if i want to if the MSI updater will no longer work. I have always depended on the Updater for my drivers cause i'm not the most tech savvy person in the world plus its very convenient to have all the drivers in one spot.
if this updater continues to not work im not sure where i can get the drivers. I dont want to get the wrong drivers and by mistake kill my board cause i flashed my board with the wrong drivers. if its not fixed i may not get anymore MSI boards :(
So does MSI realize that they killed there updater? i mean it worked fine in the past but now its a piece of junk :(
    Please help.
P.S. Im not trying to be mean or flame im just frusterated :(

1st we are talking about drivers here... not BIOS.
You shall not update your BIOS without very good reason, read here ==> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=103441.0
"i have MS-6712 those BIOS updates don't work and even at the bottom of them it says "this bios can not be used with MS-6712"
Yes because there are several mainboard MS-6712.
    "This BIOS cannot be used on KT4V (MS-6712) & KT3V (MS-6712)"
    That's correct your mainboard is KT4AV {also MS-6712, but use different BIOS. That's why is that warning notice.}
"So now that we know those BIOS updates don't work are you still sure those are the right updates for my board? Please make 100% sure."
Yes they are correct if you really have KT4AV.
    Leave BIOS alone.
If you want to update your BIOS and need help with BIOS update, read here 1st ===> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113146.0
and provide information about current BIOS version onboard. You may have an OEM mainboard.

  • MSI GT683 Problem Installing Graphic Drivers

Hi to all, I need help about my laptop MSI GT683...I have bought a graphic card because my is broken, that is Nvidia GTX560M but I have a problem: when I install Windows and I try to install the driver the screen became multicolor and I can't do anything else. I seen that when the site of the nvidia auto reconizes the graphic card the model showned is Nvidia GTX560 SE...Another problem is that in the bios the model of the notebook is GT680R and I don't know why...can you help me?

What means "multicolor"? Do you have any picture of this symptom you described?
The model name in the BIOS depends on the graphic card you installed. Some models re-use the same barebone of the older models and their difference is only the graphic card, so MSI may only provide one version of BIOS but will automatically detect the graphic card to change the model name in the BIOS.
I'm not sure what's the problem you are facing but you can ask for help and contact local authorized service points.

  • Msi installer not latest Flash version, still dated 27th Jan!

I work in a large school, we use the distributable flash installer to roll out Flash to our machines. Adobe still hasn't updated their msi files to the current version! So our machines are out of date....
Anyone else in the same boat, fancy airing your frustrations?

    fierceteapot wrote:

The current Flash Player version is 10.0.45.2; the '.exe' installer for 10.0.45.2 I have is dated Jan. 27.
I know that the 10.0.45.2 was reissued somethime in February, but that just added some kind of version check (checking for the presence of later [beta] versions), which just caused problems for lots of users.
So why not use the Jan. 27 installer?

  • [Athlon64] Problem with MSI RS480M2-IL

    Hi all,
I have problem with MSI RS480M2-IL. My problem is My temperature is very high... around 55-60c ... i am using AMD 3000+ Venice and no OC... and SpeedFan unable to detect my Voltage usage... Aida32 also same... 1 more thing is when i tried to run SiSoft Sandra 2005... it will take alot of time to load, sometime will just hang. i Test PCMark04 and found only got 3k for average mark... my friend getting 4k+ and we are using same spec... Below is my Spec:-
    MSI RS480M2-IL
    AMD 64 3000+ Venice E3
    Bios Version 3.8
    Geil PC3200 DDR400 2.5-3-3-6
    Maxtor 60GB HDD 7200RPM 2mb
    Verudium Power Vortex 420W
Hope some one can advised me what to do... my score too low and my board detect temperature and voltage is not accurate... Hope MSI Engineer will look thought and help me... Thank for Viewing !

the underlying "Who's fault is it?" question: AMD64 VENICE CORE (E3) PROCESSORS? or MSI RS480M2-IL MOBOS?
so far, ALL users with this proc/mobo combination HAVE the high (or incorrect) temperature issue. replacing the mobo obviously will not resolve the issue but replacing the proc with one that is NOT a Venice E3 core, does the trick. but of course, not everyone will have the privilege of exchanging their damned proce via the retailer specially if it's beyond the first 21 days of purchase.
in my case, my retailer refused to have the E3 proc replaced with the 'corrected' E6 version no matter how hard you explained the known issues with the E3. no chance of AMD recalling the E3 cores since problems with are only isolated to the particular MSI RS480M2 boards.
so for users that are and will be stuck with this combination, what is the solution then to the temperature issue? in my opinion, it's up to MSI to perhaps release a bios update that will correct this. another important thing to consider is the question: IS MY VENICE CORE INDEED OVERHEATING OR IS IT JUST THE MSI MOBO SHOWING INCORRECT READINGS? the proc overheating in actuality is obviously a lot different thatn just having an incorrect bios temp readings.
based on what i have observed, my Venice core displays the correct cpu temps (33-35*C) when being used on a MSI K8 Diamond mobo. placing the proc back to the R2480M2 board shows a very unusual 61-63*C bios cpu temp. furthermore, if i touch the stock heatsink/fan cooler that i have (for both motherboards), it really does NOT seem to be extremely  hot to think that the cpu is actually overheating. in addition, my system using the RS480M2 performs well and has no spontaneous shutting down problems whatsoever. of course, my sense of touch is not as accurate as a thermometer but more or less, if you consider all the points i mentioned, most of us can say that the whole issue is just a matter of incorrect cpu reading.
perhaps the ATI chipset is the one to blame since i have notices as well that the Venice core processors do not seem  to have this high temp problems with MSI's K8 mobos with the NVIDIA chipsets.
one last question: so do you guys think that this problem can be resolved by a simple bios revision? (as a dell tech guy, i do know for a fact that bios updates resolves overheating error messages in Inspiron/Latitude laptops)

    memory voltage 2.1
Make sure that the memory timings are not set to 4-4-4-x but that they are set to the defaults values (5-5-5-x).  Also ensure, that the memory clock speed is not set to anything higher than 400 MHz (=DDR2-800).  The voltage at these settings should not need to exceed 1.95V.  So please lower it accordingly.  In case the freezes still occure, please run memtest86+ to check your memory for errors.

Please get rid of that tool for all further tests.  Uninstall it completely from your system as it is known to cause crashes and freezes on its own terms when running.
