MSI DVD rewriter driver please?

I have an MSI DR4-A internal DVD rewriter and require recent driver please.
I have been on the MSI site but unable to find one!!??
TIA

For optical drives, you can flash firmwares for the drives but I don't recommend flashing unless you are having problems with the drives.

  • Compatible External DVD-Rewriter Drives

Im been interested in getting an external DVD-Reweriter drive for a while now and were wondering if anyone could list me some compatible ones and where i could get them from in the UK. Iv seen a few around but wasnt sure if they would be compatible, desperately need one for data back-up considering i only have a combo drive on my MacBook!
    Cheers in advance, Scott

This isn't an exhaustive list, but I have a Sony DRU-120A in a generic external Firewire enclosure made by ADS. There are newer faster burners out there, but this drive worked fine with my Macbook running OSX 10.4.10. I downloaded the Ubuntu Linux 7.10 live DVD ISO and used OSX's Disk Utility to burn the ISO to a DVD-R disc.
OSX did not support non-Apple drives for burning until 10.4. For the older OSX releases, a program like Roxio's Toast is needed to support non-Apple drives.
I like the idea of using an external burner. Discussion threads have posts with users having problems with superdrives not burning correctly after only a few months of operation.

  • Macbook Air. Complications with importing CDs using an HP CD rewritable drive. HELP!!

I have reacently purchased an Macbook Air and am now in the process of uploading CDs into my new ITunes.
I am using an HP CD DVD rewritable drive that connects through a USB.
The issue comes usually around importing song 10 +. It isnt for every CD but more often than not.
For some reason it works smoothly from songs 1-10 but then comes to a hault and will then take forever (10-20mins) to download the reamining songs. Which, once the CD has completed its importing, they are listed in my ITunes but dont have any song duration at all. Its just blank where the song duration should be.
Also instead of the gentle "humm" of the drive it changes to like a stop/start clicking nosie (sounds similar to a scanner/photocopier) and doesnt sound healthy.
I have tried waiting and then reimporting the CD (wont let me select just those songs to import) Tired cancelling the import and ejecting then trying again. Also tired looking for scratches/marks or an unclean disk. Know that the drive works fine as its been proviously used to import CDs by my sister and she had no problems with it. i dont know what the problem is here!!
Its annoying having half the CD and not being able to download the rest. Plus i dont want to buy the CD from ITunes with already having 50+ CDs to download from at home .... COST!!
Please help!! i dont know what the issue is!!
    Thanks Alot
    Lauren

I noticed you used the tag "virus" in your post, but note that this is not caused by a virus.
Beyond being able to say that, I'm not an expert on the matter of optical drives, but would say it sounds strongly like it's a problem with the drive. The fact that it has been used successfully before doesn't mean it's not broken now.

Hello, my name is Tyesha Woods I onw a Macbook and my dvd hard drive will not ejected my cd ,I have tryed everthing I could would you please help me?

    Hi Tyesha,
    Your DVD won't eject?
Restart the MacBook - as it is restarting, hold the trackpad button down. This will force it to eject. The disk should eject before you get to the login screen or desktop.

  • DVD ROM not working with Windows 8.1...I need the driver please.

My CD/DVD/BluRay Drive is not working since I upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1.  I really need the driver as soon as possible.  I really need the DVD/CD Drive to work.  I spent so much money getting this laptop to where it needs to be.  I bought new hard drives and everything.  Please tell me that you are going to provide a driver for Windows 8.1.

    Hi @biokimyaci
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see that you are looking for a driver for your CD/DVD or optical drive. There are no specific drivers for the optical drive they are generic Windows drivers that come as part of the operating system. Go to your Device Manager and under DVD/CD-Rom drives right click what you have there and select Uninstall. They restart your computer and Windows will automatically install the driver. What is the product number for your notebook?

need parts break down sheet for Sony rewritable drive DVD/CD DRX-840U so I can detect which parts are failing.

Toast won't help read CDs/DVDs, it's only for burning. Try installing the Patchburn driver.

    Hi Commander Sinclair
Babylon 5 is the greatest sci-fi show ever! "Sooner or later, everyone comes to Babylon 5."
Have a look to this site for more detailed info and hints about a DVD writer (http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=2260). As they say, "setting a booktype (bitsetting) is just the process of telling your burner to convert a DVD+R disc "virtually" into a DVD-ROM instead. This feature is important for some people who have older set-top DVD players that cannot recognize the "bit" that determines what type of DVD media is sitting in the drive". Many just don't care, but if movies are your first goal, well, maybe you'll find it an interesting option.
And yes, you're right: much better not to mess with firmwares. Anyway, don't worry too much: I can burn and play my favourite movies even with my not-so-up-to-date DRA-8.
    Stay tuned.

Ah, a Babylon 5 fan, excellent, thanks for the post, i'm not interested in flashing the firmware and i don't know what this booktype thing is, all i want to do is burn DVD's but i guess with all the advancements in technology, it won't be as simple as that.
    Thanks Ambassador G'Kar (i know it's not the name you're using) :D

  • DVD/CD rewritable drive software

My daughter has lost the software disc for her HP DVD/CD rewritable drive, model no: dvd550sH02 8.  She needs to reload the software.  I cannot find anywhere to download it from on the HP web site. Has anyone any ideas where I can obtain it?

    Hi:
There isn't any software like that available for download.
I use the free CD Burner XP software.
I install the version without Open Candy, which you can find under the More Download Options Link.
    https://cdburnerxp.se/en/download
If you want a copy of the HP Roxio burning software, from my HP 6930p notebook, I will be happy to upload the software to my Skydrive folder and you can download it from there.
It will probably work on any HP PC, but I can't say for sure.

  • MSI DVD stuck.... any ideas please?

Hi..... my MSI DVD player in my pc has died! Any ideas how to bring it back..... nothing happens.... no lights... nuffin!

is it really dead? have you checked and reseated power connector, or tried another connector?
if it really is dead, you may as well throw it away and buy another, they are cheap enough these days now

  • Life's Good External Super Drive DVD Rewriter

I bought the Life's Good DVD Rewriter a while back when my DVD writer died in my tower.
The first time I plugged it in, the LG's DVD showed up on my desktop and I was able to burn a disc from iDVD3.
I then stored the writer away, and now when I plug it in, I nolonger see it on my desktop. When I push "Burn" in iDVD the broken writer in the tower opens up. I can't find anywhere in iDVD to ask which writer to use.
Moreover, when I put a DVD or CD in the LG's writer, the disk shows up on the desktop.
How do I get the External Writer to work with iDVD3?
    Thanks.

Hi George, perhaps you had Patchburn installed before anf it got overwritten?
    http://www.patchburn.de/
As I recall, prior to iDVD5 external burners were not supported...
You can also burn it as a Disc Image then use DU to get it to a DVD...

  • Powerbook G4 12" 867mhz with dvd/cd drive problems - please help!

    Hello all,
Just realized this thread should have been in this section. I put it in the using your powerbook section. Sorry for the double post. I just wanted it to be in the right section.
I have just inherited a powerbook g4 from a family member who is upgrading to a new machine. It has dvd/cd drive problems. I'm totally new to OSX and a notebook machine and need some assistance. I've been briefly scanning the forums here and noticed problems with these drives on the model computer. Is there a way to fix this with an install of older software? Here is the problem, if I insert a cd into the super drive it mounts on the desktop, and itunes will play it but it skips and sounds very distorted. I haven't tried a dvd but was told it doesn't even see the dvds on the desktop. Here are the know specs on the machine:
    867mhz
    640 mb ram
    mac os x 10.5.1
    boot rom version 4.5.5f4
the burner info: matshita dvd r uj-015
    firmware version: docb
    Thanks in advance!

    Good Morning Mac,
According to your posted specs for the 12" G4PB you have the bare minimum requirements for Leopard. Even Tiger (10.4.11) should have 1GB RAM for decent performance (see my signature specs).
An easily installed 1GB RAM stick can be obtained at either of these reliable vendors:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/ or http://www.crucial.com/
However, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Try the following in this order:
Repair Disk Permissions with /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/Repair DP, then do the following:
Run Repair HD from original CD or DVD install disk ........
Insert disk and re-start holding down the 'C' key until you see the spinning gear.
At Installer level...... DO NOT CONTINUE
At top left, use 'Utilities' Menu for Tiger or later and go 'Disk Utility'
Select your HD volume with Operating system on...
Select First Aid tab then select Repair Hard Disk button
If "RED" errors are repaired, run again, until none are reported then +run again+ just to be sure you are OK
Do NOT continue with the Installer... QUIT the Installer and return to the Finder ......... Eject the Disc
RESTART ..... Repair Disk Permissions .... AGAIN!
Try the above stuff first .... if that doesn't help, we will get into the "RESETS" steps next!

It's probable that the CD 'side' of the combo drive has failed.  That you cannot boot from the recovery CD is pretty much proof of the failure.
