MSI DVD Software Problem

I just purchased a new computer which came with a G4MX440 video card. One of the reasons we picked with card was the DVD player, MSI DVD, and other software that came with it.
The card seems to works very well, but the MSI DVD program, fails right after starting to read the DVD, it appears that the first few frames of the DVD come up and then it crashes.
The computer is running Windows XP Home edition, freshly installed and the latest drivers for the video card for Windows Update.
I have searched far and wide for a new version of the MSI DVD software and cannot find it anywhere.
Can anyone from MSI, or otherwise knowing person, let me know were I can get a version of MSI DVD that works with Windows XP?
By the way, just to try out the hardware and setup, I downloaded trial versions of other DVD players and they work fine. But why buy another player is one came with the video card?
I am assumming the MSI DVD comes with the DVD Decoder software included, right?
Thanks for anyone who can help me out. :O
...Peter

Have you tried Live Update?  I experienced the same problem but after trying various methods of my own, I took it to the place we got it from and they fixed it for free.

When trying to install the MSI DVD software which came with the KT3 Ultra-ARU, the setup asks for a serial number.  I have tried using the serial number form the box the MB came in and it does not work.  Where the heck is this seial number?

Double checked that also.  If it is on the envelope, it is printed with invisible ink.

IS THERE ANY UPDATES OR UPGRADES FOR THE MSI DVD SOFTWARE I HAVE. THE DVD PLAYER SOFTWARE I HAVE HAS THE SURROUND OPTION GRAYED-OUT. I CAN'T FIND ANY AKNOWLEGEMENT ON THE MSI WEBSITE THAT THEY EVEN HAVE A DVD PLAYER SOFTWARE. IT CAME WITH MY VIDEO CARD.

Dude, it's the same thing, MSI just put their name on the skin!
    Myself, I prefer Power DVD.
    Try the demos first...
If he has a newer nVidia card his best option would probably be nVidia DVD decoder because the newer nVidia cards have PureVideo improvements for video playback AFAIK.
One requirement for Purevideo is using the nVidia DVD decoder.
    http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_purevideo_requirements.html
So I believe if he uses another decoder he doesn't get all of the benefits from Purevideo. If he has an older nVidia card then it doesn't matter which decoder he uses.
I purchased the nvidia decoder, and have a 6600GT that is supposed to have Purevideo. I'm not exactly sure if it is implemented properly yet like it is supposed to be from some research I have done.
It seems to be, because of all the extra options I have for video playback in the nVidia DVD decoder panel. DVD movies also look pretty good, not sure if it is because of Purevideo though.

  • MSI PVS Software Install problem

    Hi,
I'm having a problem installing the MSI PVS software...When I start 'SETUP' the Intervideo PVS screen starts, all activity stops for about 4 seconds, and then an error message appears: 'Setup can't continue, RPC call failed / RPC can't start' (rough translation, original message is in Dutch).
    Anyone seen this before ?
Other software installs without a problem, no viruses (Norton Antivirus Latest edition and updates), no Blaster worm related RPC thingy. Blaster removal tool couldn't find anything...
Radio part and soft works fine, WinDVR3 demo version installs without a problem...and TV part is functional. No remote functionality though.
Any suggestions to get the original soft working ?

  • SoundBlaster X-FI MB3 software problem

    Hello MSI Forums,
New purchaser of the Z87-GD65 motherboard.  Has anyone else purchased this board and installed the XFI MB3 software from the included driver CD?  I installed the software and it states that "There is no supported audio device available".  For anyone that says I do not have a SB card installed, my understanding is that this is not a driver, but software to enhance basic onboard audio on a motherboard.
Quote from Creative: The Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 software suite is a powerful audio platform equipped with cutting-edge audio technology, offering premium audio quality, effects and features for ordinary PC systems equipped with only basic onboard audio.
No where does the Creative site say it is a external soundcard required software. It is part of the software package included with the MB, and is for sale by Creative.  I would expect that this software is included with the MPower boards as well.
I cannot get 5.1 audio from the optical S/PDIF Out, and figured this software might be the fix.  I only get 2.1 audio.  I have an older Gig board with optical out, and the Realtek drivers that i used for that board had theater 5.1 options.  The MSI Realtek driver under the digital output only gives you the option for CD or DVD with no speaker options, like the Speaker setting does.
I have run through all of the sound settings in Device Manager and can only select 2 channel audio on the Advanced tab for Realtek Digital Output.  Not understanding if it is a MSI Realtek interface problem, or the drivers.  Tempted to install the old R257 or R267 drivers.  Currently running R271.  The old drivers allowed me to install the Dolby HD drivers from Realtek (DCC Win764 2.2.3 Dolby).  If i try to install the Dolby HD drivers for this board I get an error.
Sent an email to MSI Tech Support:
Dear Customer, the board does not have a sound blaster audio controller; it has a Realtek audio controller. It does come with the sound blaster Cinema an audio effect program. the board will do 5.1 from the analog audio jacks only. You can get 5.1 from the audio optical output for video playback if you use a program like power DVD and the audio track is originally recorded in 5.1.
I am using MPC-HC X64 software to watch movies on a Blu-Ray projector and have always had 5.1 audio using the optical out.   So this software supports it, not sure why Tech Support thinks that the software will make the difference, when I cant even select 5.1 under the Digital Audio device output in Device Manager. The included Cinema software only appears to alter the OFC audio jacks. I am wondering if the problem is the Realtek driver for the ALC1150, or MSI's version of it.  Nothing has changed from my previous MB setup other than the board and the drivers.
Running Windows 7 X64 as I was on the other MB.
Any suggestions, or anyone using the software successfully?

sorry froggy that's what i said. i had the problem. cinema sounbd one is another problem. X-FI MB 3 is intended for Xpower board only as far as i know. check your self, check the overview of both boards and you will see only in xpower it says about the x-fi mb 3, so i guess the CD has the software of all the Z87 mobos, i think it's not specific as the rest of the devices are mostly common as well.

  • MSI DVD and new detonator drivers

I cannot seem to get MSI DVD 3.1 to play DVDs with new  det. drivers. The dvd player works fine with older driver versions but seems to have a problem with copywrite protection with new drivers.
Is this something nvidia is writing into these drivers in order to sell it's own NVDVD software or is there an update for MSI DVD 3.1. I have tried both nvidias version and MSI version of the new det. drivers with no luck. Older driver versions work fine. I cannot seem to find anything about this subject anywhere. Is there any solution to this?

  • Satellite A660 - 3D DVD software runs out of date or is secretly altered

Whats going on; why do I get lynched to pay an additional $59 for software to make my Satellite 3D work?
    Ok.
This probably sounds nuts; but my Toshiba Blu-Ray DVD software seems to have a DVD/Blu-ray prevention program in it. Preventing 3D and smaller issues.
It has been out of whack since I updated the software on the Toshiba site and when I updated the nVidia GTS 350M drivers.
That may be co-incidental to the problems which began in previous month/s; as I don`t always play discs on this laptop; so pinning a date when it went pear-shaped is harder.
But, after going through a nightmare (of not working on DVD or Blu-Ray on half my discs for months now); I installed the latest TRIAL ($59) Corel WinDVD 11 Pro player and everything (including 3D) works perfect again. But for 30 days only; until/unless I`m robbed of $59 additional that is.
    The problem is/was;-
3D only worked on half of my Blu-Ray 3D discs using pre-installed (and later updated) Toshiba COREL WinDVD media PLAYER. Sometimes it only played 3D side by side; 2 images. No 3D. Some Blu-Ray 3D discs were fine ODDLY. Region code not an issue.
Toshiba DVD 3D player/upconvertor program was the worst (not the SD version, I dont use).
Toshiba (HD) 3D player would not recognise half of my Blu-ray 3D laptop disc drive content. "DVD drive not recognised" error message.
Toshiba DVD player itself would not upconvert any normal DVD to 3D.
Toshiba DVD player would only play NORMAL 2D when running upconvert (no 3D).
Toshiba DVD player would only play HALF-SPEED DVD when upconvert was disabled. When trying to play a DVD in normal 2D mode.
All settings were tried and altered to fix the problem around a thousand times.
Software uninstalled and re-booted and re-installed a dozen times each.
I also had to un-install the software and re-boot and re-install the following;-
nVidia graphics driver (from nVidia sites own 295.73 and re-install Update to the `older` nVidia Toshiba 260.51 driver).
I used to be able to upconvert DVDs to 3D using this laptop; so it did work many months ago; but now that has all stopped for months now.
Its a pain as I have un-installed everything and re-installed all the relevant software from the Toshiba home page; but no solution for the problem without getting mugged an extra $59.
I hate computers for the ten-thousandth time.
    1 minute Ramble:-
Its the last Microsoft product I will ever buy (Windows Ultimate rubbish [had to buy a new A3 color lazer printer as no Win 7 drivers for my existing laser printer]).
SAMSUNG (3D internet TV) products from now on. No computers for ten years. Until the rats get it right and stop experimenting on my wallet. $10,000 on PC products in the past 5 years and still being able to do simple things like watch a 3D movie is a hit and miss affair.
I`m rambling....because a hundred hours reading on how to get it working again has scrambled my head.
    Spec
    Toshiba A660 3D laptop. Satellite.
    Windows 7 Ultimate. Updated.
    Intel i7 1.73Ghz
    Graphics is GTS 350M
4GB Ram (8-gig upgrade on order)
    Spare 550GB hard-drive space.
    Toshiba site; Bios updated.
Toshiba own DVD 3D player (doesn't cut the mustard) Version 4.00.1.08
Toshiba Corel WinDVD 3D player (doesn't cut the mustard) Version 10.0.5.822
The Nvidia graphics always works fine on the test background page; which makes me think software; but all the relavant software has been updated. Re-installed and re-tried a hundred times with different settings.
I thought the discs were the problem. But 50 DVDs not working in 3D up-converting, or faulty all by themselves? And half of my 3D Blu-Ray collection?
I wondered if these these problems are deeper than this one system. Whether there was a systemic problem somewhere (besides blaming the buyer end-user).
Toshiba assist line in one call was a guy who knew far less than me and had to ask someone advice for every single part of the call. 2 hours to tell me to re-install the software in a long, slow, bit-by-bit way, eventually. We done everything they can do to help. Now they seem to blame the discs and don`t have any answer.
Microsoft x64 Ultimate says its roger all to do with them on their helpline/e-mail assist.
    I tried nVidia to no avail;
Any ideas; do I bite the bullet and everyone eventually be forced bit by bit to pay for $59 software to get the thing working.
    Whats the beef?

    Hi
You wrote really long story :) anyway this is an user to user community Im not sure if I could clarify all these issue for you but I would try to share my knowledge with you.
But firstly it would be really interesting to know what Satellite A660-xxx do you have exactly?
You said that you have installed the Win 7 ultimate.
According to the Toshiba page the notebook was preinstalled with Windows Home Premium. The preinstalled WinDVD was a full version (not trial) and you have not to pay for this software. In my case I have not to pay for any software (except MS Office :) )
    you said also:
    > I installed the latest TRIAL ($59) Corel WinDVD 11 Pro player and everything (including 3D) works perfect again. But for 30 days only; until/unless I`m robbed of $59 additional that is.
So it seems that you dont use the preinstalled Win DVD but you have installed other version which was not preinstalledso you have to purchase such version if you want to use a full version of any software which is not part of Toshiba image.

  • White screen when computer turned on. Software problem?

I have had my macbook for about 4 months, and it spent 3 months being repared! The first time for a problem of batteries that made the computer heat too much and turn off, and the second time because when i wanted to turn the macbook on, there was only a white screen with colored vertical layers on the screen, and impossible to do anything else than to just turn it off pushing the on/off button. They changed the CPU (it took them 2 month to change it btw) and gave it back to me 5 days ago. I used it twice this week end to watch a DVD and yesterday when i tried to turn it on, i had this white screen again! I called the hot line and they told me they heard of this problem but did not know what it was. they said they could talk me through some repair procedures on the phone that might help, but i needed to pay 50 Euros for it, although the computer is under warranty, if it's on the phone since it's faster we must pay! I was pretty upset and just hanged up and called my brother who told me to press 4 keys while putting the computer on and keeping those 4 keys pressed while the computer would turn itself on 7 or 8 times. After that i let the keys go, and it worked. Now the computer is working but i don't dare turning it off in case it wouldn't turn on again. So i'd like to know if anyone have had the same problem and might have an answer for this. Apparently it's not the CPU since it's new (unless i'm really unlucky and got a broken one twice) so maybe it's a software problem?
Also since it will be the third time in 4 month i bring the computer to repair it and i have not been able to use it more than 3 weeks, i asked if i could just exchange it and have a new one, and i'm told that's not possible, there has to be a commition to decide whether they can just replace it or not. I'm very upset now and disappointed with Apple!! Does anyone know how to make this computer exchange procedure a bit faster?
    Thanks for your help

Yes, i have tried that! They say the macbook has to go 4 times into repair, and twice for the same problem so that i can change it.
It is completely unbelievable. I am so disappointed with apple right now!
    Thanks for the advise though

  • If I buy a MacBook Air in America, can I use it over here in the U.K. without any software problems?

If I buy a MacBook Air in America, can I use it over here in the U.K. without any software problems?

It is true that they are not region free with DVD's even though they let you switch the region 3 or 4 times and then it locks on the last region you choose forever.
Software is a different story, I myself own a MacBook Pro from Europe but I install software I buy from the US.
I have friends that own Macs from the US and they live in Europe and they don't have any problems.
I have a friend from New Zealand with a MacBook and when he comes over in Europe he has installed European software.
So you see, I think a software region problem if you ever have any should be extremely rare.

  • Is there a diagnostic test to detect hardware or software problems?

    Hi All
Is there a way to run a diagnostics test to find if there is a hardware problem? or software problem? or even a computer history that I can pull up that shows what led up to the crash? (...like in iDVD
I was working on several large video projects in FCP and my space became limited on both my internal drives ( Hitachi and Macintosh)_
I moved files to the Trash bin and when I hit delete, the screen went grey, the fans went into high gear, and an error message came up stating that I'm required to shut down the computer by holding down the ON button. (Crash)
Is this is "blues singin' time" or is there hope to this scenario. Is there a way to run a diagnostics test to find if there is a hardware problem? or software problem? or even a computer history that I can pull up that shows what led up to the crash? (...like in iDVD)
I reinstalled MAC OS X v 10.4.11 but I'm getting the same results.
    Processor: 4 x 2.5 GHz PowerPC C5
    Memory 4,5 GB DDR2 SDRAM
    Thanking All in advance.

Your Mac should have come with an Apple Hardware Test on the DVD that came with your Mac.
For software, run First Aid that is part of Disk Utility on the DVD that came with your Mac or the Tiger install DVD. For directory corruption, the best is DiskWarrior that you have to buy.
Will it boot in Safe Mode? See
What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)

Takes a while to run, but it usually "fixes" problems.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

  • MSI PVS Installation Problems

Hi. Yesterday I put together all the parts of my MEGA 865. All parts appear to be working fine and most of the software was installed without any problems. The only problem I'm having is with getting the MSI PVS software to install. When I try to install it a loading screen for the program does appear but then nothing after that. After a few minutes of waiting for something to happen I closed the setup program using task manager, when I did this I got the message:
    Setup failed to run installation:
    The remote procedure call failed
Sorry if a solution to this has already been posted, I did look but couldnt see anything.
    Thanks

  • I am looking for DVD software suitable for Mac Pro.

I just buy an Mac Pro.  I used to Window software and new user on Apple software.  Now, I am learning it.  My 1st question is how to transfer the window version software from my old laptop to the new Apple Mac Pro laptop.
Besides, I also looking for DVD software.  Any suggestion ?

Boot Camp is part of OS X. The data from your old PC can be transferred to the Mac. You may be able to open the old PC files without installing Windows depending on how they were created on the PC. Most files created with Office can be opened with the Apple software; Pages, Numbers and Keynote. I have nothing from Microsoft on my Mac and I am able to open just about everything I am sent from Windows without any problems.
iMovie is an application that allows you to create DVDs of your own movie clips.
In System Preferences > CDs & DVDs you should set When you insert a video DVD to Open DVD Player.

  • Best DVD Software

Can anyone tell me what the best movie to DVD software is out there? I am trying out Fotomagic, I have Imovie 08, 06 on my desktop as well as FCE. Which one will produce the best DVDs with regards to picture.
    Thanks

The way to go would be to get a software bundle - software that is designed to work amongst the various applications - such as either Final Cut Studio Pro, or the Adobe Suite.
After having used both programs for many years now (I work in Post Production & actually teach these systems + others) I'd say it is down to personal preference. After using and teaching these, I PERSONALLY prefer Final Cut Studio Pro. It is just a0 beautiful piece of software to use.
I would not recommend using various individual software components, especially if this is a regular thing for you, as i have found that this is where a lot of the problems will arise - trying to export/transfer your projects from one to another. It has caused me heartache in the past. It is so much better to get a software bundle that is designed to work together! TRUST ME!
And for what it's worth, after having to use both Mac and PC for the past many years (scary to think!) I would say that Mac is so UNBELIEVABLY BETTER, easier to use, smoother, and so incredibly hassle free when compared with its PC rivals!
Keep us posted with what you decide
