MSI E350IA-E45 boot/post problem with some USB devices

Hi,
My new mainboard E350IA-E45 with BIOS ver. 1.4 has problems "BIOS problems" booting/posting when I connect a USB IR Receiver from CyberLink and also with a USB wireless adapter model USB-N10 from ASUS, using USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ports.
It does the problem with one of the two devices or the two at the same time connected.
With the Logo disabled, I only see a number (not always the same) at the bottom right of the screen when I boot/reboot, and I cannot enter BIOS. If I wait a while, about half a minute Windows starts and other times not ( I'm not sure at this moment).
When this happens (not booting/posting) if I remove (while powered) these devices the motherboard posts immediately and normal operation is back !
When none is connected, it works without problems.
Does anyone have a solution or explanation for this behavior ?
Thanks in advance for any help.

How can you call this explanation "working fine" ??
Your powersupply is just 75W, anything can happen with so little power.
As said before, test the board with a 300W powersupply and see if it solves it.
I bought this Mini-ITX case to have a silent HTPC, its height is 62mm, so where do I put a power supply of 300W using this case if the problem realy "is" the power adapter ! Sorry to say that, but for me it's not the power adapter.
When I BOOT it, my power meter indicates the maximum value and it's between 25-30 watts, and you say that a 75W external adapter is not enough and what about netbooks or nettops with Zacate inside with similar adapters !
Can you explain to me why or how it fails to POST in few seconds (or no POST at all) with one of these devices that has a tiny power consumption. And why it POST with a external USB HDD ! It makes no sense to me.
Anyway if there is no solution to this problem (maybe BIOS update), I don't mind very much to wait about 20 seconds until it POST with the two devices connected, because after that I have no other problems.
Best regards.

Java 6 you can't as Apple maintains it, and Java 7 you could if you uninstall it and Oracle provides the earlier version which they likely won't his last update fixed 37 remote exploits.
Java broken some software here and there, all you'll have to do is wait for a update from the other parties.

  • Problem with detecting USB devices.. something abt ehci-hcd??

    Hi All,
I have a DELL E6410 laptop. I have a problem with connecting USB devices.
Whenever a power event (such as connecting/disconnecting of AC adaptor) happens, my laptop stops detecting any USB devices and any changes that happen on the USB ports. That is, say an external mouse is connected to the laptop, the mouse stops functioning, and if I connect a mouse/USB_stick or any such thing to the computer, the device is not detected.
dmesg output show that any connecting/disconnecting events are not detected by the computer. lsusb output too shows the same thing.
To solve the problem, I need to rmmod the module ehci-hcd and modprobe it back. That is, I have to run the commands rmmod ehci-hcd followed by modprobe ehci-hcd. Then, this problem goes away until the next power event happens.
This event does not happen all the time, but it happens very regularly.
Here are the kernel and laptop specs..
    uname -a
    Linux myhost 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Aug 30 08:53:25 CEST 2011 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
Kindly help me on this issue.
    Thanks

This is the output of kernel.log when I unplug my AC adaptor with the external USB mouse connected.

  • MSI E350IA-E45 gigabit LAN problem

Hi there, I'm having some problems with my gigabit connection on my MSI E350IA-E45 rig.
I'm using a D-Link DGS-1005D Gigabit Desktop Switch and my other PC hooked up to it has a 1000mbps connection while the connection on my E350IA-E45 rig is stubbornly on 100mbps connection.
I have already installed the latest Realtek PCIE LAN driver from the product page (release date 2011-06-02). Is there anything else that I missed? Maybe a BIOS issue of some sort? Would appreciate any advice on this matter.
    (btw, I'm running 64-bit Windows 7)
    Thanks

To answer your question between Cat 5e and Cat 6.
It's the bandwidth that they have:
    Cat5(e) - 100MHz -   100BASE-TX & 1000BASE-T Ethernet (e-version is just a bit better tested, nothing more)
    Cat6 - 250MHz  - 1000BASE-T Ethernet
BUT, CAT5(e) can only be used with 1000Base on short lengths, upto 15 meters however it's not sure it works at all.
I use CAT5 between 2 1000Base switches and it does 30 meters with ease, but switches are less sensitive then a single networkcard or between cards.

  • Problems with multiple USB devices. (Possible Low Power on USB Bus)

I believe I'm having an issue with the USB bus or one of my devices that I have installed on my iMac.
I purchased this iMac along with a printer (HP C4280 All-in-One) as part of a promotion deal. I also have wireless logitech USB mouse, and iPhone and an 80gb 5th Gen iPod.
My problem has to do with syncing the iPod and iPhone. Normally I have the printer attached to the iMac along with the USB mouse. Both devices function as expected. However I have problems when I connect the iPhone or iPod.
iPod Symptoms: When I connect the iPod the iPod screen shows the flashing red circle with a line but iTunes never launches and the iPod never syncs.
iPhone Symptoms: When I connect the iPhone the iPhone screen says Sync in Progress and iTunes does show the iPhone in the list of devices but a dialog appears giving me one of two messages (that I've seen so far) - [msg 1] Your iPhone is corrupt please disconnect then reconnect to restore. [msg 2] iPhone device timed out.
I've been dealing with this problem for a couple months and found that if I disconnect the printer (HP C4280) then connected either other device then everything works just fine.
I downloaded XCode 2.5 and launched the USB Prober utility. Then plugged in each device in turn and found some interesting findings.
When connecting the iPhone (1st attempt) the USB Logger reported; (iTunes displayed msg 1 from above)
128.517 [1] USB Device iPhone is violating Section 9.3.5 of the USB Specification -- Error in GetConfigDescriptor( wLength = 4)

I'm suspicious of the USB Low Power Notice. If this is true then I suspect the my iMac might need some type of repair. However I am also suspicious of USB Device violating the USB Spec Error. Although this is the message that appears when I plug in the iPhone or iPod I don't think I can assume that error relates to the iPod or iPhone. The error doesn't specify which USB Device is in violation.
My current workaround is to unplug the printer every time I sync the iPhone or iPod which is cumbersome. I'm also worried that repeated connecting/disconnecting of USB plug for the printer will over time damage the USB port.
I'm not sure what options I have here. Can anyone provide some suggestions or information that might provide some insight.
    Best Regards,
    xgnomex

A-Ha! Now I'm feeling like my 1.5 hours of reading this forum are not wasted, since I've found others with similar symptoms.
I've only had my iMac for two weeks today. I've got some new accessories & have experimented with the ones I've had awhile (various USB external drives). My model has 3 USB ports, one of which is taken by the keyboard, of course.
Over the weekend, I picked up an MS Office 2008 Upgrade and also an HP Officejet Pro L7680 all-in-one. I only mention the Office upgrade because I installed it on the same day as the printer, but it's possibly unrelated.
I actually have a Belkin 4-port hub--not the same one suggested in this thread, but externally powered with it's own A/C adapter. (It's a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 r-Port Hub, model F5U234 Rev.3, and I used it with a previous iMac G3 CRT with no problem.)
So with a LaCie 100 GB USB Mobile Drive in one of the iMac's ports, and the HP L7680 in the iMac's third port, or the HP via the Belkin hub in iMacs the third hub, here are some of the symptoms I've seen:
    1) while browsing in Firefox, suddenly the mouse-cursor will "freeze" (get stuck) in a pull-down selector...sometimes it unfreezes, but eventually (like on the next pull-down menu) the keyboard & mouse will shut off (and if you wait & the iMac goes to sleep, the keyboard won't let me enter my unlock password when I wake the iMac with the Apple Remote)
    2) when trying to open a document from the LaCie in MS Word, Word freezes and the keyboard & mouse go dead--terminal beachball--to restart the computer, I have to hold in the power button
    3) when trying to print a message in Mail, Finder freezes (though the print job does finish)
These symptoms seem strange! Hey, it's just supposed to work, right? But everything has limits, so my question becomes, "how much stuff can I hook up at once?"
I wonder if this Apple article is addressing this issue:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25243
especially when it says "Two high-bandwidth devices or two isochronous devices cannot be connected to a single Universal Serial Bus (USB)."
So only two hi-speed USB devices can be connected "to the same bus" simultaneously? I'm not entirely sure I understand what "isochronous" means, but I'm thinking I need to peel my printer off the USB somehow, maybe via Airport Express--?
Does anyone know for sure about USB limitations? Thanks.
Also, xgnomex, how/where did you find that "USB Logger"? Is that something iPhone-specific, or is it an OS X log in a Library somewhere?

  • Some USB devices don't work with MacBook (Unibody)

    Hi everybody,
I've just bought a new MacBook and I'm experiencing a few problems with some USB devices like USB memory sticks and USB hard disks.
Whenever I plug in one of these devices I undergo one of the following:
    - Copy operations get stuck
    - Time Machine backups get stuck
    - Finder freezes or crashes
    - Disk Utility freezes or crashes
Can someone report the same behavior?
    Thanks for any hint
PS: this is what Console reports
+11/24/08 22:50:01 kernel USBF: 22875.305 AppleUSBEHCI[0x6d6e800]::Found a transaction past the completion deadline on bus 0x26, timing out! (Addr: 2, EP: 1)+

    Hello together,
i also have seen some USB problems with the new MacBook and just checked a bit deeper.
I have no problems with my USB sticks, the USB hard drive, the MIDI interface - most stuff works. But there still is some special stuff i use for my embedded projects.
One is the USBprog, a universal AVR-based USB device with open source firmware, where i used a programmer emulation. I patched the firmware a bit, as it had problems with the OSX USB stack (was something with OSX sending a NACK and the device doing nothing on this - which is perfectly legal according to the specs). After this patch, the programmer works fine with my Mac Pro (Early 2008). But if i connect it to the MacBook, i get error messages in system.log about this device.
The funny thing - if i connect it via an USB hub to the MacBook, it seems to work fine.
The other device is an Olimex AT91SAM7 development board, which also works fine on the Mac Pro as a CDC device (/dev/cu.usbmodem*), but doesn't on the MacBook. Can be seen with cu - the first connection works fine, the second connection hangs the MacBook, you can log off, but it is impossible to shut it down cleanly. This problem can't even be removed by using a hub. On the Mac Pro, i can use several separate cu sessions on this device without any problems.
Comparing the hardware reveals that the Mac Pro uses an Intel USB chipset and the MacBook used an nVidia chipset. So there is a difference, and this difference might also reflect in which driver is used by the OS for the USB subsystem. The Mac Pro uses OHCI/EHCI, the MacBook used UHCI/EHCI. So the Hardware differs definitely, USB might really get through different software parts.
Besides this, the USBprog problem is a violation of the specs by Apple, so the USB stack in general needs some improvement. The nVidia USB drivers also might need further improvement due to the added problems of the MacBook.
I know, this doesn't help too much, but at least it could be a hint on what goes wrong. I hope, Apple will fix this with one of the next Leopard updates.
    ...Michael

  • [MSI E350IS-E45] Problem with DVD drive

    Hello my friends.
I just bought this little board to make a HTPC for my daddy and Im getting a hard time with it.
I installed everything fine and installed windows 7, via USB flashdrive and when i rebooted I tried to put the CD with drivers to finish installation, but whenever i put any cd inside this drive the computer boots.
If I start the computer with CD inside the drive, it will just hang with a 98 error code down and just wont start the windows.
The computer have the following parts:
    - Spire PowerCube 300w (http://www.spirecoolers.com/main/product_detail.asp?ProdID=826)
    - MSI E350IS-E45
    - 2x2gb OCZ SIGNATURE DDR3 1333MHZ, configured as 1066mhz.
    - 1x OCZ AGILITY 60GB SSD
I tried change the sata cable from one place to another. This psu is very good and have enough power to this setup, this psu was tested with a core i3 system (wich by the way consumes way more power than this HUDSON guy).
Please, dont lie to me... Im on this busines for almos 2 decades and I know that there is something very odd happening here, I just downloaded a new bios version and will try to do a bios update later when i get home to see if this problem is solved.
    Thanx in advance!

First of all, I would redo the cooler paste.
It's my experience that the installed thermal-pads are no good.
I have the E350IA-E45 myself and I removed the pads and the temperature dropped significantly.
I informed MSI about this and they are currently retesting the cooling solution, removing the pads for grease can lower temps as much as 10C!! (or more)...
As for the PSU, my system with 4! 1TB harddisks and full load hardly uses more then 55W tops, that PSU should not be a problem.
However, do consider the drive can be faileing, OR the drive is bootable and crashes before Windows can start.
I have noticed that our Forum-flasher crashes too with exactly the same symptom.
Anyway, what do you mean the computer boots if you put a CD in? Is that after or before Windows is loaded?
Because before it can mean the CD is bootable, if it's after Windows is loaded it probably means the drive is bad.
In any case, do check the thermal pad under the cooler, see in the BIOS how hot the CPU is.

  • MSI E350IA-E45 Entering Bios

After having pressed the Del key during booting up -  the computer hangs with "Entering Setup" shown in the bottom left of the screen.
    * The problem was orignally found with the 1.0 version of the Bios but remains after upgrading to 1.5. With both versions the Bios was cleared with by switching the JBAT connector.
    * Memcheck86 has been executed and reports no error.
    * Attempts have been made with the SSD and BR drives detached with no joy
    Setup is as follows:
    1     MSI E350IA-E45, AMD E-350
                           Mini-ITX, Hudson M1, DDR3, 1xPCIe(2.0)x16, SATA 6Gb/s, USB 3.0, VGA,

    1     Crucial DDR3 1066MHz 4GB KIT, CL7,
                           Kit w/two matched DDR3 2GB, 240pin
    1     Corsair SSD Nova Series™ V32, 32GB
                           SATA2, 2,5", 195MB/70MB/s read/write, incl 2,5" to 3,5" bracket
    1     Lite-On DVD±RW/Blu-Ray Reader, IHOS104
                           SATA, 4x BD-ROM Read, DVD±R: 12x, DVD±RW: 8x, Bulk, BLACK

                           Audio

Well, Ace is way down in the quality lists. The Ace was bought from Komplett in Sweden, would I gissa. But it is not sold any longer, likely because the quality simply was too poor:
http://www.aceofsweden.com/ace/case/mini-itx.html Apparently only around for a single year.

  • Gpu core clock low msi e350ia-e45

I'm been running into a problem while bitcoin mining.
I noticed that when I moved my MSI e350ia-e45 setup into my computer room that the Mhash/s starts off at 11.2 then drops to 4.3 after a couple of minutes.
The previous room was about 66F ambient temps, the new room is about 75F.
I downloaded msi afterburner and noticed that when my Mhash/s drops, my gpu core clock speed drops to 200mhz from 492mhz.
This happens when the gpu hits 60c-61c.
I was running catalyst 11.6 and then tried 11.7 with the same problem still.
I've upgraded the bios to the latest 1.5 and still no fix.
I've tried disabling cool n quiet in the bios.
    I upgraded my case cooling.
I added thermal paste(which is why it changes in minutes rather than seconds now).
    Still no luck.
This is a little bit of a let down as I also own a C-50 based netbook that does not exhibit this behavior.  It will happily run at the 278mhz gpu core clockspeed past 80c.
The e350 is rated up to 90c so why would it underclock the gpu at 61c?
My friend has an asus e350 board and in my room it doesn't underclock the gpu.  His runs at a steady 78c in here.
I can only think that it is a bios issue.
    Any idea's?

I moved it back to the other room with the lower temps and the issues vanished.  Too bad it can't stay in that room(the ethernet connection to that room travels through the outside and is prone to killing switches/routers/ethernet cards during lightning storms.
I guess it's not much of an issue,  but the whole reason for buying an e350 was the higher gpu clock rate compared to the c-50.  It's kind of pointless if the gpu drops down to 200mhz when slightly heated.  It makes my c-50 netbook much faster than the msi e350 motherboard.
I love the  motherboard, and all it's features,  except for the clock problem.
I'm still hoping it's a software issue and not a bios issue.
I'll try installing an even earlier version of catalyst.
I will be installing linux to see if the problems persist.

  • MSI E350IA-E45 BIOS V1.5 fails to install

I have a MSI E350IA-E45 motherboard, currently running V1.4 of the BIOS (which I had previously flashed from 1.3).  I downloaded, unzipped and attempted to install the 1.5 BIOS last week, and it just hangs during the flash program using a bootable DOS USB drive.  I tried 2 different USB flash drives, and I also tried using the M-flash method.  No luck.  It behaves as if the BIOS image is corrupted.  I tried downloading it from a different country's MSI server, same symptom.  Has anyone here successfully upgraded to this level BIOS?  Thanks!

Henry, I tried the forum utility.  It appeared to install ok on a USB stick, but would not boot.  Upon inspection, the USB stick did not have a DOS kernel installed on it, so I gave up on that method.
I eventually got the BIOS updated via my own original bootable DOS USB stick, using the AFUDE234 program.   For some reason, I had to turn off the HDMI-connected HDTV I use as a monitor, and plug in a standard monitor via VGA.  I guess there is a video mode issue under DOS.

  • Does anyone have problems with some websites where text is overwritten and it is impossible to navigate the site as the buttons to for example confirm purchases do not work?

I am having problems with some websites - e.g. Easyjet and more recently the Sport Relief website, where the text overwrites other text and images and it means it is impossible click to accept, confirm or find further information?

    Post a screen shot.
What browser and what version are you using?
Have you tried a different browser?

  • MSI E350IA-E45: 61C 4300RPM in idle

New MSI E350IA-E45, open computer case, no OS yet. Check BIOS HW monitoring page: CPU temp. 61C, CPU fan speed 4300RPM. I can't check full load temperatures (no OS yet).
It seems to me it is too high temperature and as the result - quite noisy cooling.
What could you recommend? Send to replace/repair?
P.S. Glad to read about any experience with this MB temperatures.

    Do not use M-flash!!!
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< instead.
M-flash has killed so many boards that it's not funny anymore.
(Yes we are telling MSI this every chance we have but they keep in there )
Lesson learned ... I wish I new that before I tried to use the m-flash

I'm going to guess videos buffer for a while also...
Two possibilities, one is you should close apps on the iPad, the other is your internet speed is not able to handle the demands of a high speed device.
To close apps:   Double click home button, swipe up to close the apps.
To solve internet problem, contact your provider.   Basic internet is not enough for video games and movies.   Your router may be old and slow.
