MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 BIOS Flash

I recently had an apparently unrecoverable BIOS flash failure which I RMA'd (although I have since found http://service.msicomputer.com/msi_user/TechFAQdetail.aspx?formid=3046).  Since I now flash successfully in that same way, my best guess is that the original board really was defective.  The advice on this forum generally is to use the MSI Forum HQ USB Flashing Tool, which obviously has had a great deal of development effort.  I did try that Flashing Tool, but found it more confusing than I had hoped, and the flashing did not complete for me.  Given my previous msi BIOS flashing experience, that was scary.  Then I used the msi on-board flashing (as I did originally) with a downloaded file in the root of a USB flash drive.  Inside the BIOS, Utilities > M-Flash > Select one file to update BIOS, started flashing and did work, and has since worked several times.
The advice to use the Flashing Tool apparently relates to the Tool working "better" (perhaps with lower chance of failure) than the on-board BIOS flasher.  And it may BE better, but flashing should not be error-prone anyway, nowadays!  USB flash drives have been around for many years, we use them all the time, and they do not need a special flashing tool.  Frankly, I feel that if the on-board flasher does not work, the board is just defective, end of story.
Since I would have been better off with some idea about what to expect, here it is:  On my system, BIOS flashing takes MUCH LONGER than one might expect.  Overall, it takes about 4min 30sec (for only 8MB), which appears to be only about 30kB per second.  The display shows flashing to be about 50percent done in about 3min, then it runs up to 90percent in about 10sec more.  At about 95percent done (about 3min 30sec), the screen blanks and the system starts to auto-reset, which appears to happen slowly, and twice, before coming up at about 4min 30sec.
Hope this helps!

This board in particular can be flashed properly with the MSI BIOS flasher ,M-Flasher .It s practically as safe as the Gigabyte one.
I have flashed the BIOS with the M-Flash from 1.2 to 1.5 with no problems on this board.
Use a USB stick formated to FAT and you are good to go as long as you already done some stability teats for the machine.
Yes after the Flash the screen may remain black ,but that is why you have on the board a Clear CMOS jumper ,in the lower left side.
Maybe some users should let the flashing process to people that know how to do it and stores can do this procedure for you.

Hello, I have a MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 motherboard with the 1.41 Beta Bios & AMD A10-5800K with DDR3 1600Mhz & Windows 8 Pro. I did the factory reset by hitting F6 to go back to stock bios, now when I put Intel XMP enable on then save the setting. when I boot into Windows 8 Pro the A10-5800K show the processor 3.80ghz as Max Speed which is normal, when I encode a video it run at 3.95ghz but not at 4.2ghz. all I did in the setting is enable Intel XMP & that it. I have not touch anything else, Max Turbo is in auto.

Something seems to be really wrong with your setup. The standard frequency of a 6800K is already 4100Mhz and you say max would be 2175Mhz (assuming you mean under load). Try clearing cmos and retry: >>Clear CMOS Guide<<

  • Issues attempting to flash 2.0 BIOS on FM2-A75MA-E35

OK, so I'm planning to put a Richland APU into my FM2-A75MA-E35 as soon as these come out. In preparation for this, I've attempted to flash my BIOS to 2.0, which did not work.
Some background information, I've flashed the board before without issues, up to version 1.8. The process to flash 2.0 is entirely different now, in that you need to boot from a bootable usb stick, and then run E7721V20.exe.
This is what I did. It then went through some checks which passed fine, asked me to confirm whether I really wanted to flash the BIOS, to which I answered Y, it showed the message that it is now starting to flash the BIOS, and that's it.
It then remained in this state for a good hour before I finally drew the conclusion that this isn't doing anything. Even though it said not to switch it off while flashing the BIOS, it seemed to be my only option. I did, and luckily, all was working as previously, running version 1.8.
In short, the flashing program didn't actually do anything.
I am very reluctant to make another attempt at this point in time, because I'd much rather have the board in version 1.8 for the time being, than not have it work at all.
Is there anything I could have missed? Is there any way in which I can successfully flash my board to 2.0, so that I can later use a Richland APU in it?
Any help with this is appreciated!

I've done another search on the 1.8 BIOS and I can't find anything concerning Richland support. The description was just a generic "BIOS Update", whereas the 2.0 description is:
    - Update CPU ID.
    - Support Richland CPU.
To me, it looks like you need the 2.0 BIOS for Richland Support. If anyone could point me to any sources that the 1.8 BIOS already supports Richland APUs, I'd appreciate it. For now, I'll stick to my belief that you do need 2.0, until I've got evidence to the contrary.

Version 2.0 for FM2-A75MA-E35 like all Win8 bios versions for AMD boards currently can't be flashed with the forum tool. It's only possible by MSI's (risky) way.
And you can't even use M-Flash, like you can for all the 1.x versions. The only way to flash 2.0 seems to be to boot into DOS from a USB stick and then run the executable supplied by MSI. Will that likely remain the only way to flash to 2.x?
    Quote from: florinbss2 on 09-May-13, 22:44:31
I did the update and it worked. But I have an annoying problem. When activating Cool'n'Quiet in the BIOS, it's not work on cooler. Change frequently but not speed CPU cooler. Any percentage would choose the speed cooler does not change. Cooler running at full speed.
Well, I was going to say that at least you managed to flash your board, but having the CPU fan run at full speed irrespective of BIOS settings doesn't sound all too good either, and you can't even flash back to 1.x now, or can you?

  • New motherboard (FM2-A75MA-E35) deliverd with Bios of other Mobo (FM-2A75IA-E53)

I bought the FM2-A75MA-E35, i got a box with this model on and it's indeed a micro atx Mobo
Well, i builded my New HTPC but got since i started building it i got multiple resets of the pc (just power off-on, in windows kernel power 41 error).
After 2 days of troubleshooting, changing PSU, memory, SSD, ... I wanted to update the Bios from v2.0 to v2.1, I however got the error that my board was not supported, after looking in tools like CPU-Z i found out that my Mobo reported itself as FM-2A75IA-E53, an ITX Mobo, this also explains why I've an option in the bios for wireless and Bluetooth, which the FM-2A75IA-E53 has, but the FM2-A75MA-E35 hasn't.
So it seems like MSI flashed the bios of another Mobo on mine in the factory? And could this explain my random reboots?
Any suggestion other then getting it back to the shop?

This thread can be closed. MSI USA send me a special BIOS to force flash.

  • M-Flash, FM2-A75MA-E35, System is not reboot or taking long time

    Hi,
    I have FM2-A75MA-E35 with A10-5700.
Several days ago, I downloaded a ZIP file of BIOS version 1.7 from MSI. After extracted, it was the same version 1.5 (.150 extension), but with older version of .EXE compared to my previous BIOS version 1.5 download.
After the flash screen ended, the system was not reboot almost right away like my previous 1.5 flashed, but with blank screen, fan running fully speed, and both HDD LED and Power LED lite up.   About a minute late, I pressed Power with not respond then Reset also with no respond.  Several seconds later, the system rebooted and Windows loaded.  Later, I flashed the system back to previous 1.5 and everything seemed to be OK.  Yesterday, I checked MSI site and saw that the actual 1.7 BIOS is up, I am thinking about flashing again.
    Here are my questions:
What is going on after the flash screen ended?
Is it save to 1) press power or 2) reset button or 3) pull the plug after the flash screen ended, If the system is not reboot or responding for about a minute?

I flashed it the same way that I did with the early weird 1.7 version and it was working.
After flash progress bar completed, it took about less than 5 seconds, the system rebooted twice with all the LEDs turn on and off and windows loaded.  I rebooted and went into the BIOS which shown version 1.7.
The scary thing was when I was in the BIOS setting the clock, the screen went blank for about a second once and sometime blinking , and it seemed to do that on the clock setting screen, not the main screen.  I think this might related to graphic buffering and programing.
I hope this is normal for this UEFI BIOS and not turns into a brick.
Please, let me known that if you think this is normal or not.
    Thanks,

  • Latest bios for FM2-A75MA-E35?

    http://us.msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A75MA-E35.html#/?div=BIOS
The two latest bios are both v21. One is dated 6/05, the other 7/25. Anyone upgraded recently? Is the 7/25 just mislabeled (i.e., should be v22)?

Appears that the latest is just a simple update of 2.1 that didn't require a BIOS version number change - Update BIOS module. Whatever that actually means/does I don't know.

  • AMD 760K doesn't work in - FM2-A75MA-E35

Hey guys, I just got this motherboard and found out that the CPU isn't compatible with the board. I've flashed it with the latest Bios (I happened to have a Trinity CPU spare) so it's now on 2.1 and still nothing. I've tried to go to the MSI support site but when I log in and try and do anything I get prompted to update my profile and then when I do that I get some weird error page (and the same thing happens when I try to create a new account).
I was just wondering if anyone has had similar issues with the CPU and if they have a work around or if there are any beta Bios updates etc.
    Many thanks!

its not in the QVL list: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/FM2-A75MA-E35.html#/?div=CPUSupport
That CPU support list only goes up to BIOS 1.5 so it's out of date as of  Dec. 2012 and doesn't show any Richland being supported even though 2.0-2.1 BIOS supports Richland CPU's.
It could be that since that CPU was only released last month that it will need a more recent BIOS update for support. You would need to contact MSI regarding that though as us folks here in the forum really wouldn't know for sure at this time.

  • Two issues with FM2-A75MA-E35

    Hi there
1- In the uefi bios startscreen it gives the correct board (FM2-A75MA-E35) and V1.2
If i look at the board itself it reads MS-7721 Ver 1.3 is this correct?
2- After booting into uefi, the moment I enter the save config menu the mouse freezes. Hitting F10 instead does the trick.
Changing parameters in bios with clickbios works well.
    Current bios version V1.2
    Thanks,

7721 is correct but not as precise:

I'm building a new HTPC machine (specs below). OS installed fine. Boots with generic Microsoft drivers. Tried to install chipset drivers that came with mobo. The AMD catalyst control center tries to install the graphics driver (13.350.1005.0000 Beta). The screen flickers off once, then back on, then off again never to return. I'm seeing talk about flashing the BIOS with a cheap trinity core then flashing with my Richland core.  I need expert advice on how to fix this.  Thank You

i had the same problem in last week, but i didnt buy a new processor, my bios just dont let me do anything so, i put a booteable usb of windows 7 and i booting the usb from bios and ignore the message to actualize to richland. Then i could install windows 7 ultimate 64bits and download the new BIOS driver. And that as you make so easy you just need to copy the ".exe" driver bios and put in a usb free. Start program, upgrade bios, reboot, and finish! you have richland v2.2 or something and you can run APU A10 6800k with no problems =)

  • FM2-A75MA-E35 & RAM Clocking issue

    Heres my system specs
    Mobo: FM2-A75MA-E35
    CPU: A8 5600k (Max RAM support 1866Mhz)
    Ram: GSkill RipJaws DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 & Corsair XMS3 PC3-12800
I notice in the Bios that the ram is only being detected @ DDR3-1333,  I enabled overclocking to DDR3-1600 but even then the ram is still only clocked @1333 both in Bios and in windows.  Is this a known issue with this board?

Quote from: flobelix on 23-December-12, 05:46:20
Nice discussion about this vga but what has this to do with the ram. This is a MSI forum and not meant for discussing Sapphire vgas.
    That it is!

The person I am building the system for isnt really using teh system for gaming,  more video editing.
Install a larger GB factory matched and tested RAM kit if that is the intended use of the pc, RAM performance difference between 1333 and 1600 is rather low anyway.

The new FM2 APu setups do support XMP.

  • FM2-A75MA-E35 & 2133Mhz RAM

Hi guys,  reading the spec data of the FM2-A75MA-E35 mainboard, i can see:
Supports two unbuffered DIMM of 1.5 Volt DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866/2133*(OC) DRAM, 32GB Max
If i buy a kit of 2133Mhz RAM, can i set this frequency in the BIOS? Or better, does exists in the BIOS the "2133Mhz" setting field?
    Thank you

Quote from: caml light on 03-November-12, 08:50:56
Not correct! The graphic section of AMD APU's take a nice performance boost with 1600+Mhz RAM, as you can see here:
    http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cpu/46073-amd-a10-5800k-trinity-needs-faster-ram/
So, do you confirm that this mainboard has a FSB/DRAM ratio to set RAM at 2133Mhz keeping the CPU at stock speed?
    Thank you!
The mainboard pdf manual 7721v1.0 shows that a 'DRAM Frequency' setting is in the BIOS. The specs say it supports up to 2133 OC'd RAM speed, so presume the 2133 setting is available. Also, 2133 is not guaranteed as the CPU's IMC may not be able to handle or support it. In that review, if I read it right, they OC'd the GPU as well as the RAM in those tests. Do some tests for yourself at 1866, and at 2133 if they will run at that. In a real world application, I doubt seriously any actual visual difference will be noticeable.
Unless someone chimes in that has this mainboard to confirm the 2133 setting or not, recommend to contact MSI Technical and ask them.

  • FM2-A75MA-E35, Less Usable Memory than installed....

I just powered up my new FM2-A75MA-E35 Mainboard with A6-5400K and 4G memory stick.  Running Win 7 Ult 64.
When I used on board video, I had 3g out of 4G available.  I assume the missing 1G was reserved for video use.
So I put in my ATI Radeon HD 5670 video card hoping that disabling the onboard video and using plugin video card memory would free up the missing 1G of ram.
Instead, now I have 2.9G out of 4G available.
Any help or guidance is appreciated.

F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL if i'm not mistaken are G-Skill Ripjaws (they are known to be very problematic on MSI boards Due to a DEAL with a brand-X) try some different RAM and i would suggest some from Corsair of 1.5v instead!
at most the board will dedicate with 8GB installed 2-2.5GB to the IGPU max (1.5GB if only running 4GB at the most) so it sounds more like a incompatibility due to the poor choice you have made when you bought the RAM!
if its no incompatibility then you have some VERY FAULTY RAM so its either a incompatibility or very BAD ram involved here.... i suggest you get some different ram from one of these 2 Manufacturers (Corsair & Crucial) as G-Skill cant be trusted on a MSI board as they have a very bad rep and in particular the RIPJAW skew they make!
