MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card, Pinnacle 8.8.17 SE REBOOTS Windows XP when it renders.

The Problem is that once video is captured by the MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card,  Pinnacle 8.8.17 SE crashes Windows XP when it renders.
I am using the latest MSI 44.03 drivers and the WDM drivers as shown in Windows XP system properties, hardware, are 2.0.3.0 09/04/2003.
The VGA card is set to CLONE mode and OVERLAY controls to FULL SCREEN DEVICE = SECONDARY DISPLAY, to get video output using thesupplied 9-SSCCR adaptor and
S-VHS cable to an analog VCR.
IF I DISABLE THE OVERLAY CONTROLS, RENDERING COMPLETES, XP DOES NOT REBOOT, BUT I CAN NO LONGER EXPORT TO THE VCR!!!!
I would appreciate any assistance or explanation.

Another issue I have relates to video captured by the MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card showing distortion or tearing in the bottom lines.
I am trying to capture, using an MSI FX 5600 VTDR 128 VGA card, I am using the latest MSI 44.03 drivers and the WDM drivers as shown in Windows XP system properties, hardware, are 2.0.3.0 09/04/2003.
The capture system is PAL, I have selected PAL-I, my video sources are either an analogue VCR or an analog Camcorder. I use the analog VIDEO IN or the S-VHS IN of the supplied 9-SSCCR adaptor.
The software packages I have used are Pinnacle 8.8.17 SE, Intervideo WinProducer 2.0 or MSI Media Centre II deluxe (including patch).
Thanks for your support.
Sincerely,
Haroon Sheikh.

HELLO , I AM FROM BRASIL AND I WANT TO KNOW WICH
VIDEO CARD IS THE BEST FOR GAMES ???
    FX 5600 VTDR 128 MB or GFORCE 4 ti 4800 VTD ??
    Thank you.

Generally the Ti4800, in some cases if your running with AA the FX5600 could be faster.
An FX5600 Ultra or Radeon 9600 Pro would be better if you can afford them, or even better a Radeon 9700 (non pro).

  • MSI k7N2 Delta ILSR,AMD 2700+ & MSI GFORCE FX 5600 VTDR 128 Overclock

Guys, I have the above mentioned GPU, Mobo & CPU (Box edition with AMD FUN). Can anyone tell me the best way to overclock them at the highest possible mark?

    StormRider,
    Best way to overclock???? Humm......
Start with a big Case, then get a large Brand Name Top of the Line Power Supply. Then get a Ultra High Performance Heatsink and Fan for your CPU, I prefer a Peltier, others prefer Water. Then put a bunch of fans in your case and make sure you have all your wires run so you get great airflow. Then get High Performance RAM for overclocking, I use Mushkin Level II Black. (If you can still find any.)
Last thing that many people forget, have your computer in an air conditioned space.
Then go have at it. Overclock like crazy.

  • 5600 vtdr 128 flickers

    Guys, long time not see...
Got an annoying problem with my vga for a month or so now.
Everytime i load a 3d game (Colin McRae 4, Hitman 3 etc. you name it) or a 3d application (3d mark etc...) the screen flickers and then it goes black. I have checked the AGP on my mobo (MSI K7N2 Delts-ILSR) and it works fine with others vga's(ATI nad nvidia likes). I don't overclock the vga at the moment and not for the past 4 months or so. It's in its defaults 325/550.
    Anyone with a suggestion?

???-)I read the manual and the rest but there's nothing on this particular problem. Guys i'm desparate. The vga has surely paid it's bucks up until now and i don't want to change it, it hasn't even been used for a year! It's full of capabilities (TV-Out, Video-in & Out, TV-Encoder etc.)....
    Please help if you can.
As i said, on any 3d program or game, the card seems to getting extremely hot(the fan works at full speed though) and at first the image on the screen starts flickering and after a while (half a minute or so) the screen goes black. This doesn't happen on 2d applications and games (Windows Desktop, Rise of nations, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City etc.). I don't know what's the problem, that's why i'm asking you...

Well, I personally do not have any FX5600... so I'm not sure of the core clock speed for the 2d/3d/mem, but if you a good o/c info of the max range of the clocks, you can go and register to Futuremark or AquaMark3 and look under their comparison charts and see how muh any experts can o/c'ed...
For my system... I'm listed 2nd in my specs range in AquaMark3.
All the best in your o/c'ing times...

The problem usually occurs when resuming from standby mode or durring the initial startup of the system. All over the screen i see moving golden dots . This stops when I change resolution. If i connect the monitor using the VGA out everything is fine. I've tried the monitor on different card (gigabyte Ati Radeon 8500 Dvi out) and everything was OK. I've checked the cables and tried different driver.
Is there any sollution for my problem, and second can this do a damage to my monitor.

Hey guys, i jsut got HALO for pc and tried it out on my FX5600 VTDR128
it runs VERY slow, so i had to turn the graphics all the way down and need to run it at 800x600. is this just the video cards slowness? or could it be somethnig else with my system?
    I have a :
    amd athlon xp 2500+ barton
    asus a7n8x deluxe
    1gb ddr400 ram
    80gb WD hardrive
msi geforce fx5600 vtdr-128 video card
benq fp767 17" lcd monitor (16ms response time)
Im jsut wondering, is this the performence i should be having? or is it a little slow?

    yup
what are your system specs?  what kind of processor how much ram?
i have not personally bought the game yet, but i have read two reviews that stated unless you have a bawlin system running top speed, your framerates are gonna be very unsatisfying.  its not a problem with your card or even the drivers, the game was written poorly with mid-range systems in mind.  the fact that this is a 2 year old game, makes this situation EXTREMELY disappointing.  yes, the developers had to port it over to the PC platform, but if you wanna look at it like that, the XBOX is the closest console there is to a PC.  they had 2 years to tweak this game, even with a FEW improved graphical effects, it is STILL running on technology that is 2 years old.  GeForce 3 graphics + some more current pixel and vertex shaders, and the game CHOPS like a cooking show on the food channel.  very disappointing.  maybe there will be patches to the game in the future to deal with this situation.  for now, you're stuck like the rest of us unless you upgrade to some serious firepower.  sorry, it sucks.

  • VTDR-128 fx5600 - No Color Red on VGA plug (d-sub port)

okay, i have a couple other posts here and i've decided to clean up my plea for help a little bit because i've solved the worst of my problems and, being more educated, can explain things a little easier.
i will recap my experiance now:
2-3 months ago i bought my spanking new VTDR-128 fx5600 card from a well known vendor.  i was given a period of 2 weeks for vendor RMA, but i waited too long as this card was intended for a system i was building for someone else.  when we finally were able to test it:
1:  system would crash within five minutes, max.
2:  no color red output from the monitor plug (d-sub port?)
3:  bad, horrible artifacting in all games and even during low resolutions 2D windows usage.  after power off, card heatspreader could almost burn my finger if i touched it.
4:  color looked fine on both tv-out dongle and dvi > CRT adapter that came with the card, if only i could boot for more than a few minutes at a time
i wish i had taken pictures, but one day, i was convinced the card was "dead" and i decided to take the cooler off and put it on an older card i have.  i carefully removed the cooler front, then back, and noticed on the back, one of the ram chips was a smudge of thermal interface material (in the pins and such, on other components as well)
i was astonished, i jumped with glee, and spent 45 minutes with a fine bristled brush.  after many inspections with a magnifying glass, and almost half a can of maxell "blast away" canned air, i put the card in my computer, re-loaded the newer drivers, installed all the msi software, and proceeded to run benchmarks!
i was so happy i could pee my pants.  somewhere in the manufacturing process i think something got a little messed up and the thermal paste was smudged.  even with hefty overclocks the cooler doesnt feel NEARLY as hot as my old ti4200.
many people have been disappointed with performance from this card, but i am very impressed!  i was able to run halo before at ~20-30FPS, now i'm getting 50 and things are much prettier.  its added 4000-6000 to my aquamark score, and i went from 11000 to 16000 in 3Dmark2001SE.
the reason i'm posting again is because i want the vga plug to work.  nview dualview does not work with the DVI adapter and i use my TV for gaming.  so if i want to game i have to deal with the monitor having no color red.
this card has been tried now in 3 systems, with 3 different monitors and the color RED is not visible on any (with the vga plug (d-sub))
i am forced to believe nothing is wrong with my system, and it relies solely on a mistake made in manufacturing.  the card overheated and crashed and burnt before i took the heatspreader off, after cleaning the paste off it works perfectly.
so, maybe GlennVidia will be kind to tell me if:
MSI will help me fix or issue a replacement.  i doubt this has happened too many times before, i am probably one out of a million buying a graphics card with this mistake.
i've made many attempts at contacting MSI support, and i've read through faqs and KB so many times i could write an encyclopaedia.
do you think MSI would even admit a mistake, i am betting that first they just tell me "i voided my warranty".  that makes me want to cry!  i emailed them 5 times so far, and they only tell me to "RMA with vendor" and "test in another systems" even after i explained everything...
    ::sigh::
i'd do anything to get this card working, i love it regardless of it's redless vga!

            Using a default monitor configuration.
First step would be to create the necessary entries (easier to make a complete xorg.conf versus xorg.conf.d/##-whatever.conf).
All Desktop Environments / Window Managers rely on X.  Man pages are helpful, possibly some headaches ahead as I fought a dual-monitor display this way.
I currently run a xrandr script to switch displays on my hp pavilion: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xrandr#Scripts

I was a ANTI MSI, 12 years a go. Back than i was working at a computershop. We sold a MSI mothrboard to a costumer. It was unable to install the driver, windows xp going. Than we send the motherboards back.
But now i thought, hey they wouldnt have driver issues... AND yes, i am very dissapointed with this card.
Problem, when i play a game. Hoppa screen goes black comes back.
Reinstalled Windows 8.1 Again the same problem.
Then reinstalled windows 8.1 second time. this time i did not install the ATI/AMD drivers. Bur find the drivers, installed msi afterburner. (i found a guide on youtube) changed options. Install MSI afterburner. But this was a nogo.
Today 3th time installed windows 8.1. Again the same issue. now i am trying to sell this !@!#$!!@ card on the web. Hopefully i find a stupid guy to sell it to.
    This errors i found :

Maybe your system is too old to work fine with such graphics card?
What exactly PSU do you have? Might be that be the source of your issue. Are you running latest BIOS on your motherboard? Why are you mixing RAM (12GB is 3x4GB so not really good).
Try with single RAM stick, out of the case. Or try with different PC (newer one) and see if it causes issues then.
I was using MSI for short time (since 2nd half of 2013) and I have not encountered any issues yet that could not be resolved. My first issue (that made me come to this forum) was on MSI motherboard (Z87 G45 Gaming), and BIOS flash and Intel ME update fixed it. And I didnt encounter any more issues with MSI products, so I dont get it how can you say something is "crap" if you didn't give them (MSI) a chance.. There's always that small % of getting faulty product with ANY brand (no, not just MSI), and you might have gotten bad one by then or now.
It could be to old, but this could not be the issue.
    PSU is 650
yes i have 12 gb, with that setup. I will remove 1 RAM 4gb (this ram is not the same as the other 2) i think this is a good tip.
And the newest bios is installed. checked this yesterday.
Atm is not possible to test it on a new better system, but i found on youtube a video about this issue, he had a better system than me.
Back than, they we had contact with MSI, they could not solve the problem. There for i thinked, let's give a try. But for me it was a big mistake. I feal like this. And if the problem is at my side, i will say sorry, change the tekst.

I am using Corsair 850W PSU and my BIOS version is 1.5. I made an error by installing v3.0 BIOS but thanks to dual BIOS feature I was able to save my system.
I am thinking about buying those RAMs because there is a great discount on Turkey at the moment. (Nearly half price of other competitors)

    Hi,
I was wondering that do i get any kind of help from here because from MSI Support to EU customer seems to be non-existent.
I have posted an issue to MSI Online Customer Service over an 1,5 month ago and it is still in "New Inquire" state. How long i have to wait to get my message answered.
    Here is my original message
    MSI RX4870-T2D512-OC
    Hi,
I was wondering do i have any kind of change to get my graphic card to warranty even if its over 2 year old since i bought it. There is a malfunction in other dvi-port and s-video port. Neither of them don´t show any picture at all and windows 7 recognizes 2 display monitor and 1 TV even that i have just one monitor plugged in. I have re-installed all drivers and even formatted the whole computer and the problem is still on so its not a software malfunction. A clear hardware problem. I hope there is still a change to get this in warranty because it was expensive and I do not think that it should breakdown in less than two years
I have the original receipt and the bought day was 14.08.2008
Serial number for the card is:
    SN:912-V803-2660807000305

Do it through hardware settings, not driver level.
    Thanks for helping!
I solved the problem. I was forgotten to connect an extra powercable to my graphics card. Trying all the settings in Windows XP instead of Vista, the message popped up that my card its power was to low... Now I'm able to downclock my gpu Thanks again for helping!!

can anyone help or tell me ?
how come my new FX AGP memory not 256MB, even my previous card agp memory also larger than the new FX??

AGP memory is not a function of the card, it's a portion of the RAM which the bios can set  aside for texture buffering.
It can be set in the bios setup and is not dependant on your VGA card, however the driver can override this setting and in fact I have noticed it doesn't tend to go over 128MB regardless of the settings.
You can do some tests for each setting see how much you get, I suspect that for 32,64 and 128MB you will get what you set, for 256MB you will still get 128MB but I might be wrong.

  • P4m266 (MSI 6786 V2) On-Board VGA drivers don't work with SP2

I have a Pinnacle Micro system in the workshop which required a re-installation of the OS. The client no longer has the original installation CDs from Pinnacle and the local Pinnacle branch have declined to make a copy available to me. The mobo is an MSI 6787 Ver.2 with a Phoenix BIOS.
I installed Windows XP Home (no SP) and had no problems. I then used the CD supplied by Microsoft to install SP2. On rebooting the display was horrific. The OS automatically detected the VGA card as an S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR and installed the drivers. However it is virtually impossible to see anything on the screen, the colours are distorted and very faded. I tried to download updated drivers using the LiveUpdate feature but the first problem arose when it wanted to update the Phoenix BIOS with an AWARD BIOS...I quit in a hurry.
I have tried several drivers for this card. I browsed through the P4M266 boards until I found one which looked identical to the board I have in the workshop. However, it doesn't matter which version of driver I use none of them will give me a reasonable display.
Please can somebody tell me where I can find the correct drivers?
