MSI G31M3 and Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX resolution problem

hi.today i bought a new computer.i.e assembled.i have a MSI G31M3 motherborad and Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX 19" inch monitor. The box in Samsung SyncMaster 943NWX 19" inch monitor says that it has 1440*900 high resolution.I also know that it must have that much max resolution, thats why i bought this monitor. But the problem is that in desktop->setting.There is not any 1440*900 resolution to select.
First there was resolutions from 800*600 to 2080*XXXi forgot. But there wasn't any 1440*900 resolution to select. Not even in the range of 1440.There was only one 1400 range. Then i installed the driver came with the monitor and now the settings shows only resolution upto 1280*768.
So can anyone tell me whats going on?I search the net for this problem but has no luck.one guy was says to use Powerstrip tool but i have no luck.Though the powerstrip tools shows that my monitor has 1440*900 max resolution in its info section but the resolution doesn't show up in resoultion select range. So i guess my monitor is correct.
My question is that is it due to internal graphics that does support this resolution or something else. Please help me to solve this issue.

thankx a lot "NovJoe".I installed the intel.inf driver provided in the motherboard.I also installed the graphics accelerator/driver came in the CD and also driver downloaded from the intel site. Both look same driver. But no luck. And what do u mean by "intel 945G onboard graphics driver"?I guess  i have intel g31/33 graphic accelerator.do i need to install intel 945G onboard graphics driver as well? I have searched the net but can't find anyone with exact problem. There was one guy with similar problem but there is no solution.
Do you think this is a driver a problem?May be following link will help u to get some idea

  • Lenovo T60 - External Monitor Samsung SyncMaster 213T 1600X1200 problem

    Hi All,
I have my monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 213T) hooked up as an extended desktop to my T60 (directly, no docking station). I'd like to use my monitor at its full resolution of 1600X1200. (It works in this resolution fine with my desktop and my other laptop a sony Vaio). When I set the monitor to 1600X1200,  the screen is displayed compressed with black bars on either side of the monitor.I tried updating with the latest driver for the monitor but still the same results.I'm copy-pasting the information below from the Intel graphics settings tool below. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

  • C30 and Samsung SyncMaster 2243BW in VGA

    Hi,
I got a C30 and a Samsung SyncMaster 2243BW, i use VGA to connect the screen.
I got the message on my screen :
Not optimum mode. Recommended 1680x1050 60Hz Analogic (the image is from internet but it the same.
I use an adaptateur DVI VGA and a VGA cable
I have on the samsung an DVI-D • VGA input.
I need to buy an new cable to avoid this screen ?
    Thanks

OK, so you have a C30 with a K4000 card (not the embedded solutions you mentioned earlier).
Here are the resolution specs for the K4000:
    Max DP 1.2 resolution = 3840x2160 @60Hz
    Max DVI-I dual link resolution = 2560x1600 @60Hz
    Max DVI-I single link resolution = 1920x1200 @60Hz
    Max VGA resolution = 2048x1536 @ 85Hz
All of these resolutions exceed the recommended resolution of your display, so you should be able to drive your display at the max recommended resolution.  If it's not doing it automatically, I would say there is something in your cabling between the display and the graphics card that's causing the issue.
I'd recommend directly connecting the display with a good quality cable using no dongles/converters if possible.  If you must use a dongle/converter, I'd recommend making sure the specs of that dongle line up with the resolution you're trying to achieve.

  • OS Lion and Samsung ML-1660 printer problem

Since downloading OS Lion my ML-1660 laser printer won't print unless I switch it off then switch it back on.  It then prints OK.   If I want to print another document I have to sw. off and on again.   This problem doesn't happen on my Epson RX520 3 in 1 printer.
I've downloaded the latest Samsung driver software but this makes no difference.   Can anyone advise how I can rectify this, please?

Hi, I have the same problem with Maverick, with mountain lion worked perfect. in the get this error: The function `CGContextErase 'is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, This application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby Contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.

  • MSI gtx 460 768mb OC - custom resolution problem

    Hellow,
recently bought this card and I want to connect to TV with a resolution 1360x768, but it is not supported, please help me.( I use VGA cable connection, because HDMI cable does not work for me). How can I set my own resolution.
    Thanks in advance

First right click blank area of desktop and in the menu that pops up select 'NVIDIA Control Panel', in the window that opens up at the upper left under 'Select a task click on 'Change screen resolution' and you get this window and click the 'Customize' button:
You then get this window and click 'Create Custom Resolution' button:
You then get this window and this is where you enter the information for your custom resolution:
These screenshots taken from my PC using NVIDIA drivers 260.89 with my 465 GTX. It seems to me yours would work out the same way.
If it doesn't work for you then I don't know what else you can try.

  • MackBook Air 13" and Samsung SyncMaster TA550 Monitor

I have MacBook Air 13" and I try to set up Samsung TA550 27" monitor to work with it. Now my MacBook does not want to use the requested (by Samsung) resolution 1920 x 1080 but only pushes lower resolutions. How can get this solved? I connect it with HDMI to HDMI using a MDPHDMI-HT adapter and I have done this already:
    1. Open MENU
    2. Go to "Input"
    3. Select "Edit Name" to open up the "Edit Name" sub menu.
    4. Scroll down to "HDMI" and select it, (watch carefully)
    5. Now assign "PC" or "DVI PC" to the HDMI setting BUT NOT VOILA :-(

There's a lot of threads on "blurry text" in these forums.  Here's a google search:
    blurry text on monitor site:discussions.apple.com
I didn't check any of these so I don't know if there's any useful info there.
Not sure why your MBA sees the resolution as 1080i as opposed to the (equivalent?) 1920 x 1080. Maybe if you play with different font sizes you can clear things up a little.

  • Problem with T400 and external monitor (1920x1200 resolution)

    Hi there
    My laptop:
ThinkPad T400 2767-C99* (graphics is: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 256MB / X4500MHD (Switchable Graphics)), OS is WinXP
I just installed the newest video driver from the lenovo page (which also installs "ATI catalyst")
    Externale Monitor:
I just bought a Samsung SyncMaster 2443FW, 24" TFT monitor with maximum resolution 1920x1200
    Problem:
Monitor works great with my newer T400s and my old Acer laptop. However, with my T400 (described above), I can't make the monitor use the 1920x1200 resolution. However, all the other resolutions look ugly so I need it to work with 1920x120
    - If i change the resolution by rightclicking on the Windows XP desktop (and then properties=>settings) and set the screen resolution there to 1920x1200, then my monitor only used a lower resoltion (1440x900) and I get a scrolling effect as I move my pointer across the screen
    - if I use ATI catalyst software to set the resolution, I can only chose smaller resolutions (it does no go up to 1920x1200)
    Questions
Is that a hardware (maybe the graphic card does not support 1920x1200) or a software problem (maybe some problem with the driver) or just a matter of setting?
    What can I do?
Help would be very much appreaciated!

I have already installed the newsest drivers from Lenovo. I don't really see why I should install a non-official driver. I am convinced that it must work somehow with the official driver.
    Kind regards
there are plenty of instances where the official driver have glitches... just look around the forum to find instances of which.... while official drivers maybe better in most instances, there are always the odd case where it doesn't work as well as it should. If they perfectly out of box, then there would never need to be multiple revisions and updates.

  • Samsung SyncMaster 931BW 19" has a weird resolution?

    Hello everyone!
I am using my MacBook for some years now. I never had ay problems with it, it has always worked properly. Recently, my mother gave me an old screen she did not need anymore, the Samsung SyncMaster 931BW 19''. I have some problems with it. The resolution is very very weird. When I connect the screen I get a popup that sais:
    Not Optimum Mode
    Recommended Mode :
    1440x900     60Hz
I know this is a 16:9 configuration. The only configurations I can get are 1600x1200, 1400x1050, 1344x1008, 1280x960, 1024x768 and 800x600. As far as I know this are all 4:3 configurations. That is not what I want. The screen kind of scales it to the screens resolution but it looks so weird.
When I make a screenshot of it I get, again scaled, a 4:3 ugly pixelized PNG file. I do not like this.
Besides the resolution problem I also get a weird color. I cannot set it to the right white point and also not the right GAMMA mode. Which makes it almost impossible to see anything on the screen. I tried in the screens options menu to reset the color and the image but that did not change anything. I tried to calibrate it in System Preferences but that only made it worse.
Please help me with this. It really bugs me.
    Specs:
    MacBook Pro 13'' Early 2011
    Samsung SyncMaster 931BW

Also, when I click on the Apple logo in the top-right of the screen, I go to "About this Mac", then go to the tab Displays, it shows me two displays:
    Built-in Display
    13,3-inch (1280 x 800)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Display
    13,9-inch (800 x 600)
Inte; HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
The first is the display of the mac and the second is the Samsung monitor which actually is 19'' with a resolution of 1440x900! I think my MacBook doesn't quite understand me.

  • T61 and external Samsung SyncMaster T190

I'm trying to configure my T61 to work with an external screen - a Samsung SyncMaster T190.   What I want is the same desktop to appear on both screens, with the resolution of 1400x1050 on the Thinkpad,  and 1440x900 (the best resolution) on the Samsung.
I can only seem to get these resolutions to work if I go to dual-mode, splitting the desktop over both monitors.  If I go to clone mode,  (same desktop on both monitors) it chooses a maximum resolution of 1360x768 for both screens which looks horrible on the Samsung.
I got to a point (by fluke) that I had 1440x900 on both,  which was ok,  but I can't seem to replicate that again since I rebooted.  I can also get 1440x900 on the Samsung if I choose it to be the main screen, with no display on the laptop.
Not too clever with this sort of stuff.  What do I need to do,  or is this just not possible?
    Thanks

Does the problem go away after short period of time?
It should work fine with direct HDMI connection.
Have you tried another cable and reseating the connectors on both ends?

hi i got msi geforcefx 5600 [128mb] vtdr version ... anyway i also bought samsung syncmaster 173v LCD monitor ... but the strange thing is there are more contrasts on the sides of the LCD then the middle ... it is like that all non-windows and games ... i dont understand why and LCD cant adjust this ... for example if i change the desktop to plain color black ... i can see the difference between the middle and sides easily ... all the system is well setup so it is either the agp card or the LCD ... i went to the store and they give me the chance to test a new LCD (same one) with my PC and it turns out to be the same ... i contact to the samsung on their website (which they didnt respond) ... is there a firmware update or something like this ... pls help me ... it is the first time i am using a LCD and i guess it was not such a good idea to give up CRT :( ... btw my system is
    pentium 4 - 3ghz (HT)
    msi geforcefx 5600
    asus pc4800 mobo
and the rest is not related with the problem i guess ... let me know any missing info about the situation ... regards to all

I recommend you get on samsung.com and look for chat.  I just finished spending about a hour with them about another model and covered a series on difficulties.  I was surprised to find out on their website that my Samsung LCD TV was not covered by any warrantee!  (It really is tho - but the site says "No".)   Just one of many surprises that they are still working on.  The other big deal is figuring out the software upgrade function.  Good luck!

  • Problem: Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter with Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD

    Hi,
I am using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter to connect to a Samsung Syncmaster 2033HD
However, I get No Signal with DVI as the Source.
It works when plugged into the DVI slot of the Mac Pro.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Chad

DisplayPort and its variant Mini DisplayPort, use a new and different protocol for communicating with your display.
A properly-functioning adapter can request the DisplayPort use "Dual-Mode", which produces a good approximation of single-Link DVI/HDMI. This is good for resolutions up to 1920 wide, which would include your Samsung (1600 by 900).
Wider displays require a more expensive "active" "powered" converter, to convert DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI.
So if the display works with a straight DVI connection, but not a DisplayPort adaptation to "Dual Mode" DVI the weak link appears to be the adapter, but you cannot quite rule out the display card.

  • External screen resolution "defaults" to low-rez (T510, docked; Samsung SyncMaster 730b monitor)

I have a T510 Thinkpad with docking station (Windows XP) with Samsung SyncMaster 730b monitor. Every time I start up, it defaults to low resolution and I need to manually increase the screen resolution. Is there a way to make the default setting for the external monitor is high-resolution?
    Thanks!

    hey ct-user,
it is hard to say if this is caused by the external monitor or by the docking station.
try having the the external monitor connected to the T510 and see if it "saves" the resolution that was previously set.
also, test the external monitor on a different laptop and see if the same issue occurs.

  • Configuring resolution on Samsung SyncMaster 932BW monitor

I just bought a new Samsung SyncMaster 932BW monitor and can't figure out how to configure the resolution on it. It's widescreen, and supposed to be set at 1400 X 900, but the only options I have in the Displays System Preferences are 640 X 480, 800 X 600, 1024 X 768 and 1280 X 1024. None of these work, as the proportions are all stretched.
The drivers that came with it are for PCs only, and Samsung says it doesn't suppy Mac drivers or offer tech support for Mac users. Is there a way to manually set my resolution to 1400 X 900? These are pretty nice monitors and they're selling like hot cakes on sale at Best Buy and Circuit City, so I'm sure there are tons of other Mac users who have dealt with this. Can any of you help a guy out?
    Thanks

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
What graphics card do you use? Are you using DVi or VGA connection?
You can make custom resolutions using SwitchResX.
BTW, the resolution that you want is 1440x900.

  • Resolution problems with Samsung monitor

I recently purchased a Samsung Syncmaster 19" TV/monitor for use with my MacBook while at university. The monitor's resolution is 1440x900, and my macbook correctly chooses this resolution when plugged in.
My understanding was that when using a larger monitor, the proportions of OS X remain the same, you just have more screen space for windows.
However, while having slightly more screen space, everything is displayed slightly larger than normal. For instance, the menu bar and window option lights in the top-left corner are all larger, which is like running a resolution which is too low.
I am running a 2.16 MacBook, connected to the external display with a mini-dvi to dvi connector.
Is there any way to solve this?
    Thanks in advance.

There has been some issues using external monitors with Macbook Pros since 10.5.2 came out. I am one of the many. Check previous posts regarding this issue.
