MSI G4MX440 VTP & Windows 2000

Oh god someone please help me.....
I am running win2k pro and purchased an MSI G4MX440-VTP yesterday. I have been on the net for hours and have not been able to find a solution to my problem. I have seen mention of a registry hack on other boards but I have not been able to find the actual hack.
My problem is that when I maximize a window it psans accross both monitors, the taskbar also does the same thing. When I was running 2 seperate cards I had no problem confining a maximized window to ONE monitor and the taskbar only showed on one as well.
In addition to that my display properties only show ONE monitor, as does my device manager. I am running Dual 18.1" NEC LCD's on the card and the only way I can use both is to enable nView.
I just want it to work like it used to!
Or at least look like it is!
Please for the love of god help me! ;(

Jeez you would think that someone from MSI, the company who makes and sells the damn cards would have an answer. I guess customer support is not in their business plan. Too bad. Even though I have finally got this card to work properly I won't buy another product from MSI.
Since nobody here was nice enough to offer a solution, one that I am sure someone must have known about I will post what I found to work.
I went straight to nVidia and dowloaded their drivers (ver. 30.82) which you can find here : nVidia Drivers
Followed the instructions and then went into display properties> settings> advanced> GeForce MX 440>
Then click on the additional properties button, go the the desktop utilities tab and at the bottom you will see and option to "treat multiple outputs on an nView-capable board as seperate display devices."
This option allows windows 2000 to see both monitors and work in "native" multimonitor mode.
You then follow the steps as you normally would to set up dual monitors in windows without using nVeiw.
Thanks to nVidia :] , thanks for nothing MSI.

• Nview TV-Out only with 27.50 drivers on the G4MX440-VTP

Hi,
I have a MSI G4MX440-VTP card and I´m using the original MSI drivers (Version 27.50) sent on the CD supplied with the card.
I watch and play games perfectly on my TV using the NView function with colors and all.
The problem is when I update my System (Windows 2000) to a newer Nvidia Reference Drivers (any version) or MSI Drivers (Version 30.xx), the TV shows nothing but a solid green screen.
I´m having dificulties to make it work. What´s going on? I want to use better and newer drivers!
Thank you for any help...

Try to sell your card......I think it's the worst product that I have ever , no more VGA MSI , See the messages from rus ...he is a happy guy ....he sold it ....msi mx440.Tv out worked only with 28.32 drivers and some older drivers. What is the point of buying vga card if you can use only old drivers. To be specific card did not worked at all with msi drivers.

• Windows 2000 and SLI = forget it !

Hi,
I just spent the last two days trying everything to get my shinny new MSI K8N NEO4 SLI Platinum to work with a pair of MSI NX6600LE under windows 2000
I tried to document (mostly in pictures) my efforts on my blog at http://www.domn.net
but unfortunately I have been unsucessful , in fact it seems nVidia actually said they would not bother to support SLI under win2k according to this article
of course the retail box of neither products reflect that slight "omission"
notice that both NX6600LE's box have the SLI ready logo

and that the minimum requirements include windows 2000

since there's no way I'm installing that retched OS windows XP , I will have to get myself on msdn and download a beta of longhorn 64bits :\ that's over 3GB

yep when I read that's when I gave up
same link I posted on my weblog
that doesn't make it better though :(
it's not like nvidia couldn't do it though , windows xp is just a rehashed fisherpricerized version of windows 2000 anyway
it's just like battefield not working with Geforce3 just because the developpers didn't feel like doing it :(

• Msi GeForce 4 4200 frame rate locked at 60 with Windows 2000

Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.
Any Ideas? I even turned the Vsync off and on.
HELP!

(A little advice: If you can, dump XP and install a copy of Windows 2000 second edition. They both have the same KERNAL but I find that Win 2000 is much more compatible for now. I give XP 2 more years before it's the OS for all. I've reinstalled 6 systems with Windows 2000 because of compatibility problems.)

• Install Media for Windows 2000 using MSI

Does Oracle have install media for client installs which uses MSI (Windows 2000 Installation Technology)?
I want to be able to push out installs/upgrades of Oracle client software to Windows 2000 desktops (where some people may or may not have administrative rights on their desktops).

Windows 2000 is not supported, officially reaching the end of it's life in June 2010.
We would recommend that you upgrade to an actively supported version of the Windows operating system.
The minimum system requirements for Flash Player can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/in/products/flashplayer/tech-specs.html
As a short-term fix, you may be able to run a version of Flash Player 10.3 from the Archives page, which is currently supported with security updates; however, your operating system remains vulnerable as it is no longer maintained from a security perspective.

• 137+GB Support with MSI K8 Neo4 Platinum SLI (MS-7100) under Windows 2000?

I have a Western Digital WD2000JD 200GB serial ATA drive that is set as a slave in my system.  I am using Windows 2000 and wondered if my MSI K8 Neo4 Platinum SLI (MS-7100) board supports a drive larger than 137GB on 1 partition without the use of an add-on card .  Formatted it now shows as 127GB...not the 186 or so it should if were recognized as a 200GB.
I used to have a 200GB EIDE that would show as 137GB+ using a EIDE controller on my old board but I don't really want to have to partition it or use a host card.
I have read that the board must support 48 bit addressing to overcome this limitation and wondered if this board (MS7100) supported it.
I really don't want to purchase a Serial ATA host controller to get the full 200GB from the drive on 1 partition in Windows 2000.
Any ideas?

• Windows 2000 "blue screen of death" after a small number of gpib reads - related to gpibclsd.sys

Labview 6i gpib drivers 1.7
If I just keep just reading (I stripped the operations down to "reading" to track this down) from the GPIB instrument (HP3456A) in a FOR loop every 2 seconds
- somewhere after 10<100
reads Windows 2000 crashes with an error related to gpibclsd.sys Seems like some sort of buffer overflow.
This is a bit annoying, as I have just now finaly learned Labview and have it ready to do something for me.
I would say "close but no cigar"...

alas, I have done so.
I deleted the i.7 drivers and started the
installation of NI-488.2.2.1
The setup program hangs on launch but running the individual .msi's got the drivers installed. Although the board is present and working properly according to the device manager - MAX fails to detect the board. When the troubleshooter is run the board can not be sequentially verified - with an unknown hardware error.
I just notice Visual basic gpib access does not work either. I don't know whether its HW or SW at this point.
Thanks for the help though.

• Has anyone encountered a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error in Windows 2000 when upgrading from Labview 6.0i to 6.0.2?

When I try to upgrade Labview 6.0i to 6.0.2 by running the setup.exe file I downloaded from the NI site, I immediately get a dialog box with the header "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" and it says "Runtime Error! Program: C:\setup.exe abnormal program termination."
I'm running Windows 2000, but I've successfully installed it on another computer with the same setup. I'm guess some of the DLL files in system32 has been corrupted or mismatched versions. But I don't know which one...
Anyone know what this means?

Hello,
You can probably solve this problem by going to Start >> Run and typing the following:
Regsvr32 \msi.dll
Where is the folder where the msi.dll file resides on your computer (you can use Start >> Find to find the exact location). Once you do this, the installation of the 6.0.2 update should work properly.
Please let me know if you continue to have any problems. Thanks for your patience on this issue, and have a pleasant day.

• Windows 2000 and Nokia Cable Drivers and PC Suite

Appears Nokia does not support Windows 2k. Even though their web page states the USB Cable CA-101 driver, Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver_rel_7_0_2_0_eng.msi, per their line "Nokia Cable Driver for Windows 2000, XP and Vista" on the web page says so. frustrating. Already aware that PC Suite version 7 is not supported in Win2k.
Is there a driver out there for the USB Cable CA-101 that will connect to the phone running Windows 2000? and allow at least the sd memory card be accessed for data transfer and other functions? thank you.
phone: 5610 XpressMusic
OS: Win2k service pack 4

Hi exergonico,
Which device are you using?  Do you have CD that came along with your device?  Could you please Search(Google) for Nokia PC Suite 6.85 or 6.86 nokia pc suite version and install on your pc to check this issue?

• Licensing error in Windows 2000

Post Author: DaveMoran
CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
I'm using the RDC component in Crystal XI with SP3 to build a custom application. This application is written in C++ and built using VS2005. I've recently upgraded VS2005 with SP1. I've been installing and running successfully on Windows XP since day one. However I've just installed it on Windows 2000 and I get the following message when I try to display a report:
A crystal reports job failed because a free license could not be obtained in the time allocated
Has anybody got any suggestions? Is this related to the VS2005 service pack or perhaps the Crystal service pack? Does it just not work on Windows 2000?

• AC97 onboard sound DOES NOT WORK under Windows 2000

Just an FYI, the AC97 Audio on your MSI mainboard will not work under Windows 2000, for which the AC97 hardware is not certified. If you try to use it, your audio output will be intermittant at best and will crash your audio applications at worst. A maddening and disheartening problem for people like me who didn't realize the problem existed and spent many hours trying to getting it to go away.

hiya -
I am have this trouble as well!
Are you useing professional, or Advaced server?
I have done EVERY kind of update... so dice.

Maxtor 80GB SATA
C-Media Azalia Audio Drivers cannot be install in windows 2000(Format, new OS). Got the error message hardware was not detected. Already install the Busdriver according in C-media Azalia Driver, sound is OK (2.0 speaker). but cannot install the Azalia driver. I afraid if something might goes wrong in the future if there's no proper driver.
Have no problem with the driver when installing WindowsXP (SP2 direcX9.0c included), but I want to use windows 2000 instead.

I have only install SP3 and SP4 for windows 2000, but haven't update anything as that place got no Internet connection.
I didn't check what DirectX version was included with Win2k SP4, so I'll try to run windows update after this.
Which chipset driver are you mentioning, the Motherboard chipset? If that the case, I already install all the other driver in the MSI Driver CD but stuck at Azalia driver.
I am wondering, is it OK NOT to install Cmedia audio driver? As installing the BusDriver (included in Cmedia driver), sound is OK but I don't want it will arise conflict in the future.
