MSI Gaming Z97A Gaming 9 ACK Sound Card Install

Hi fellow MSI users I am having an issue when trying to install my Creative Fatality Recon Soundcard in any of the PCIE 2.0 x 1 slots it is not detected in the bios. The soundcards led lights up so it appears to be getting power but the bios reports it as empty. I have tried everything and I am not sure what am I doing wrong?
Here are my specs
Main Board: MSI Z97A Gaming 9 ACK
Bios Version: V1.11
Video Card: GTX 980 GAMING 4G
PSU:  Corsair TX 850
12v rail Rating of listed PSU:+12V Rail The dedicated 60A
CPU: Intel i7 4790K
Memory: 2 x G.SKill F3-12800CL10-8GBXL
SSD/ HDD: Samsung EVO 250gb
CPU COOLER:stock
Raid Card:none
Sound Card:
Any Additional hardware plugged into your system: Nope
OC: (Yes / No) NO
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro

Finding information on the card is pretty hard.
Does this require any type of external power to be plugged into it? Maybe you missed that part?
Granted this is slightly different, but my older Asus Xonar sound card required a plug from the power supply in order to make it work and be detected, even though the lights on the card would light up.

The excel performance proof the brand new 960 graphics card comes with good a high Cost/Performance Value.
Now, check out this test benchmark score of the renowned game “The Crew”.
The game presents an ultra-quality display, 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
    FPS: Average frames is at:
    Frames: 3859 - Time: 76828ms - Avg: 50.229 - Min: 43 - Max: 56
The comments of the game for your reference:
There are many types of missions that can be chosen from the America’s map.
Street racing, high-speed collision, breakaway from police, sky jumps, zigzagging, etc… make the game quite dynamic.
Now, when it comes to multi-player matches, the performance has exceeded expectations. Perhaps, it is the killer Ethernet that’s working the magic. Thus, this game is highly recommended if you have the right rig.
The downside is that the display intricacy is not as refined as GTA V and in addition, the game FPS is limited at 60 FPS. However, the overall gaming flow and performance is better than good.
The user's comment for using MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card:
(The following commends are translated from user’s article, does not represent the viewpoint of MSI) ^^
Recently, MSI GTX 960 just launched so the initial price tag is still adjustable.
According to the current product line, it seems like this GPU is going to replace 750Ti. So once all the stocks (750Ti) at the store empties, we are most likely to see a price drop on GTX960.
Once the price hits the sweet spot, it’s time to try out GTX960 SLI’s performance.
The CP value on MSI GTX960 and GAMING 5 MB is pretty high. But the XSplit software that comes with the product is a bit annoying since the authentication steps are divided into 2 parts to go through for using it.
    Enough said, anyways, GAME ON!

NVIDIA 960 card  + GAMING 5 motherboard = best bundle for budget gaming!
it would be nice to see more testing of hardware-demanding games!

  • Sound card installed but not work

I've just reinstalled win xp and installed the creative drivers on the cd, rebooted the computer and was getting sound fine. I went ahead and installed some other drivers and software and now I'm getting no sound. I've go to the add hardware wizard and clicked on Creative SB Audigy (which has a yellow exlamtion point next to it) and clicked next and then I get this message:
Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)
This worked for me before (using the wizard to get the card working before I reinstalled win xp). I've also gone and updated my BIOS and I'm still having problems.
I've check to see if there were any IRQ conflicts through device manager and there are none but it showes that the Audigy card has the IRQ of 44.
I've also installed and reinstalled and tryied 'repair' of the drivers/software multiple times only to get nowhere and I've tried installing the driver updates off the site only to get messages saying that it can not find any sound cards installed.
    I have win xp sp2

After the sound card driver install I installed Norton Internet Security and other small programs (firefox, spampal, ect...)
    My computer is custom built:
    P4 2.4GHz
    Soyo P4X400 Dragon Ultra Platinum
    VIA Chipset
BIOS is by Award went from the 2AA6 to 2AA7 revision
    GB Ram
Windows XP SP2 installed on a 7GB partition
On board Audio is disable through the BIOS (have never used it since building the computer 2 years ago)
    Ati Radeon 9800 pro
    Ati HDTV Wonder
Drivers for both ATI cards where installed after the issue with the sound happend. Problem seemed to appear after Norton was installed.Message Edited by oobedoob on 09-2-2005 2:38 AM

  • OPC input module unknown upon worksheet startup. No sound card installed error.

    Hi all,
I am on v11.00.00 and have two problems.
    1. Upon startup, I get a 'no sound card installed' error despite having already selected the sound board from the Measurement tab. I've already checked the Windows Device manager and verified that the sound card is working OK.
    2. Upon loading a worksheet, I get a module unknown error - in this case an OPC Input module for a DT9837B sound and vibration measurement box. I've already installed the DAQ OEM drivers.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong?
    Thanks...

You may need to edit the sounddrv.ini file to change the device number.
    The default file is this
    [SETUP]
    PlayWelcome=1
    DisplayNoSoundCardMsg=0
    InputDevice=0
    OutputDevice=0
    BitsPerSample=16
    LeftVolume=50000
    RightVolume=50000
    SameVolume=1
    Change InputDevice to =1
File is in the Public users folder (Documents and Settings\All Users on XP), in the DASYLab\11.0.0\Eng folder.
OPC and DT have nothing to do with each other. They may be conflicting, however, since both are add-on drivers. If you edit the DASYLab.ini file (same location as the SoundDrv.ini file), put a semicolon character ";" in front of the line that loads the OPCC.DLL.
If the line is missing (i.e., the DT installation obliterated it), change one of the other lines to be DLLx=Opcc.dll. That will add it back in.
Ensure that the DT driver is loaded. Both of these are in the [EXTEND] section of the file.

    Hi
Should not make any differance, don't worry about the IRQ, let the comp sort it out, it knows whats where, better than humans do.
Any probs, disable the onboard sound. maybe change PCI slot, but there should not be.

  • [845 Series] mb msi 848p neo-v problems with sound card

Since I've bought my new MB, I'm experiancing some problems with my sound card. WinAmp and MusicMatch Jukebox ( any version) does not support 5.1 sound system, but playing in stereo system. The soundcard AC97 is OK, cause Winows Media Player is working properly.Does anyone had such problem and solved it?
I must say that I've already used MSI MB, and all APPs worked properly with the same sound card. The difference is that my ex MB was based on old Intel processors, but not Presscot based as this one.

Have you installed the latest driver to
    the Realtec soundchip(ALC 655)?

    Hey,
I've been wondering which sound card should i use, the on board sound card or the SteelSeries Siberia V2 sound card
    thanks :D

Recently i made the following system for a custumor:
    AMD 64 4000
    K8N Diamond
    2 x 512DDR 400 Elixir
    128mb Geforce 6600GT (Sparkle)
    2 x 250GB Maxtor 8mb on ide
    DVD-rom Lite-on
    DVD-RW NEC 3250
    MSI TV@nywhere
    12in1 Card reader
    Floppy
    Qtec 650W  Tripple Fan PSU
In this configuration the system works perfectly but my custumor found the power supply to noisy. So I chanched it to an ENERMAX EG425AX-VE this made the system very quiet unfortunately too quiet because there wasn't any sound anymore
I thought it came from the power supply so I chanced it with an antec true power 550W EPS12V. But still there wasn’t any audio working. Then I tried an AOPEN 300W AO300-12APNFthen there was sound but after 2min there came I serious distortion on the sound…
I also tried a new win xp installation, Unplugging or removing devices but still no result the only PS that works is a cheap qtec 650W Triple Fan. Could you advice me on which PSU I could use in this configuration? Or would a bios update be a solution?

  • Video card error - No resources when sound card installed.

    Hi
I hope that someone can help me here :/
I just bought a x-fi Sound Blaster card... I installed it and booted up PC.. When windows loads the screen and colours are at their minimum.. I look in device manager and there is a yellow warning icon on the device (GeForce 6800 Ultra).. It says, unable to find enough resources, please disable another device in the system.. I disable the sound card and re-boot..no change.. I tried to go on the internet but the browser kept crashing.. I took the sound card out of the PC and everything is fine now.
Has anyone come across this before? I'd appreciate any help on this
    Thanks
JonSince it's the sound card causing the problem, I thought it'd be ok to post here

Hi?Thanks for the replies... I've tried 4 PCI slots with no luck.. My AGP was already set to 256 ?One thing that I did notice was that after installing the SB software.. The test signal would only come through the left speaker... The speakers work fine with the on-board sound (which has been disabled btw).. I checked the settings and everything seemed as it should be...So this is either to do with the conflict or it's a faulty sound card.. IRQ's are a tricky subject for me.. There are lots of settings in the bios..Everything is set to auto currently. With the Sound Card out, the graphic card takes IRQ 6 (as told by device manager) in the bios it says it's assigned IRQ .. When the SB was installed, I forget what IRQ it had but I'm sure it was neither or 6.. Thanks for any further suggestions?Jon

  • My elitebook 6930p says it has not sound card installed?

I got this laptop from our IT department at wrok and it appears no audio card is installed?  This seems odd, but it definitely doesn't show up in the device manager.  Can anyone tell me how to get audio, it has the headphone port and speakers in the front so I am really confused.  The speaker symbol in from the F12 key shows a speaker with a 0 with a line through it. Appreciate any help you can give.

    Hi,
Please go to the following site to select the right operating system for your machine to download audio driver and install on it:
       http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3688870&lang=en&cc=us...
The symbol on F12 key is similar to a stop sign (traffic), it is ON/OFF switch for sound.

  • MSI GTX 970 not being detected on first PCI-E 3.0 slot of MSI Gaming 5 motherboa

    Hi guys.
So I recently got myself a new build and some of the components include a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G GPU and a MSI Gaming 5 mobo. When installing the GPU to the motherboard I found that for some reason nothing was being displayed on the screen. The screen wouldn't display a no signal message but it would stay black when I booted the PC up. However, when I plugged the GPU into the 2nd PCI-E 3.0 slot it would work and display on the screen. I read on a Tom's Hardware thread of someone with a similar problem and it was recommended to him to check his CPU for bent pins and he later confirmed that was the problem. I have tried the same, but as far as I can tell all of the pins were in their natural state and couldn't find any bent ones.
But I also discovered something else which really started to confuse me... When I plug in my old GPU (a Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti) into the first PCI-E 3.0 slot, it would work normally?! Why would it work fine with my GTX 560 but not my GTX 970?? I have tried everything. Even stripping the pc down to the most basic parts on a wooden surface and tested everything but it's still the same problem. I have also made sure that the display setting in the BIOS is set to PEG, but it would still not display anything when the GTX 970 is in the first slot, but if I plug the HDMI cable directly into my motherboard, even with the GTX 970 installed on the first slot, it would display normally. Also, in my BIOS it doesn't even detect anything being in the first PCI-E 3.0 slot in the Board Explorer menu. But when I installed it in the 2nd PCI-E 3.0 slot the Board Explorer menu would recognize it, but would say it's running at x8 and not x16. Should I be worried about this?
    My full setup:
    MSI Gaming 5 Motherboard
    Intel i7 4790K
    MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
    Kingston HyperX 1333Mhz 8Gb (2x4Gb)
    Corsair RM 750 PSU
    Corsair H80i CPU cooler
Any advice from you guys on what to do or what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated!

remove power cord from the PSU and do >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
also reseat the card into PCI-E slot 1 and make sure its fill very well into the slot

  • Windows 7 Won't Boot After Nvidia Driver Installed, MSI Gaming N770

Hi I just bought the MSI Gaming N770 2gb and after installing the nvidia drivers, Windows 7 will not boot after my motherboard POSTs.
I bought this to replace an AMD card.  I uninstalled all the AMD drivers before putting in the MSI card.  I've also run the Display Driver Uninstaller in Safe Mode and everything.
After a few hours of research, I finally came across a thread about flashing a vbios, and something about these cards not working with motherboards with UEFI bios.
    I'm using a P8Z77-I Deluxe mini-itx board, with a Rosewill 630W psu.
I have both 6+2 PCI pins plugged into the two 8pin power ports on the GPU.
Is this an issue that can be fixed with turning off secure boot? or by flashing a vbios onto the card? Or is the card a dud? Or do I have to re-install Windows.
If the vbios is required, are there instructions on how to flash it? I have no idea how to flash a BIOS.  Thank you!!

Had to update BIOS. All fixed!!!!

  • MSI Gaming 5 Mic issue

    Hello,
I recently purchased this mobo and everything works great expect it won't take in voice. The playback its just static and it won't take in voice. I use this mic on my laptop and xbox with no issue so the problem is is with the integrated sound card. I have search google for hours and can't a find a solution to this issue.
    Thanks,

Ok, the reason I was asking about the headset is this....
Most systems do not have a dual mic/stereo port.
Example... lets plug that headset into your xbox controller.... that is 1 port that shares mic/sound. This would also work in lets say an iphone since it only has the 1 plug. When you plug it into your PC (aka the msi board) it does not split the mic/sound. You will need to buy a splitter to split the mic/sound. This would be why you're getting distortion.
    I bought this... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058DOWH6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Something like this would work too http://www.amazon.com/Smartphone-Headset-PC-Adapter-01-PH35-PC35/dp/B008OB2NHA/ref=pd_sim_e_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0JEMJ3KFEWSC4F3CNSMF
This way the audio/mic is split before it gets to the mobo. You'll have to plug the split headset into the red (mic) and green (audio). As far as I know there isn't a way to combine them with the MSI board unless you buy another sound card.

  • Added sound card, no onboard audio no more

i added an sb live value for the use of the joystick port only, not wanting to use ti as a sound card. the onboard audio of my 865pe neo2 fis2r msi 6728 no longer works. so how can i get back my onboard audio? my speakers are still plugged into the onboard. is this even posible? to use onboard audio, but use my joystick on the sb live card when playing games? or is it only one or the other? do i need to go into the bios maybe and tell it to use onboard audio? like maybe it changed cus of the new sb live value card?
ok, i hooked up my speakers to the sb live card, it's fine i guess , but is it possible to use onboard audio with joystick port only from the live card? or because i have a sound card installed now, does that totally disable onboard completely unless i removed the live card?

Yep No is the Answer, Because as soon as Windows Sees that you have a PCI sound card, it will not allow the Onboard sound chips Drivers to Load upon Bootup, I cant believe that you went through the Trouble of Installing a Sound Card that has a "MIDI" port, Instead of just Getting a USB Joystick , as the New USB Joysticks are Much more Responsive and Support Many More Games, and You can Get one For Less $ then you Paid for the Soundblaster .....Sean REILLY875

  • Z835 Sound card? Performance?

Sound is terrible on my Z835-ST8305.  Tried installing audio enhancement software from SRS.  Got message that there is no compatible sound card installed.  DFX installed but doesn't help much.  What IS my sound card?  Do I need new driver?  Any recommendations for audio enhancement software?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you talking about the sound on the built-in speakers, or on some plug-in external speakers, or on a set of headphones, or on all three? If it's only on the built-in speakers, you need to test the other two, so we can narrow down where the problem actually is. Because you're complaining about the volume, I'm thinking you're only talking about the built-in speakers. But, I've been wrong before, once or twice... <smile>
If it is the same with all 3 of the above possibilities, try this. Uninstall any 3rd party 'sound enhancer' software you have. Then, download and double click to install these drivers in this order:
    Intel Chipset SW Installation Utility
    Intel Rapid Start Technology Software
    Intel Display Driver
    Realtek Audio Driver
    Toshiba Audio Enhancement
Is there any improvement in quality? The volume may well be too low for you on the built-in speakers. Try it on a decent set of external speakers with a bass box. You can buy a set that will make huge improvement for probably $25 or less. But, you have a notebook, take is with you and test drive before you buy.
Let us know what happens. Good luck.
    Mike
