MSI GE Series GE60 Apache-469

Hello everyone.  Hope someone can provide an image for this product.  I'm quite interested in the product but newegg doesn't seem to have an image for it.  Does anyone know what this laptop looks like?

According to the Spec and overview page of the newegg link, it should be GE60 2PC Apache.

  • MSI GE60 Apache-469 Power Issue

I purchased my MSI GE Series GE60 Apache-469 Gaming Laptop in December 2014.
I have been using it for the last 4 months casually gaming, no more than 1~4 hours every couple days. (It is a 2nd computer I use, as I have a desktop I mainly use).
A few days ago it started to not boot up. It would boot up to the MSI splash screen, then instantly shut off.
I had to go through this process at least 15 times until I was finally able to get the laptop to fully boot up.
After doing research, I tried removing the battery and only using the power cord/PSU, and it still would not boot up. (Keep in mind, when the laptop shut off, I still had to try 10~20 times to boot it up). I tried moving the only RAM stick included with the laptop to the next Socket, didn't help. I lastly made sure I had drivers up to date, finished that, and still no good.
There is not much to find in research for this problem sadly, and I do not want to attempt updating the BIOS seeing as I could potentially turn the laptop into just a brick.
Also, before any ask, I did not mess around or swap parts in the laptop, it's all the same as it was when I first purchased it.
If anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it, please let me know so it could possibly save me from having to RMA the laptop.
    Thanks!

It is obviously the hardware problem from your description, just don't know which component is broken.  How about if you only play it with battery?
Also you can remove the hard drive to see if system can enter the BIOS setup utility screen and load BIOS default.
And like you said, in this situation, I won't do the BIOS update, either, because system may shut down any time and brick the machine.

  • MSI GE60 Apache Pro - GPU issues....

    Hello All,
So, I just purchased a MSI GE60 Apache Pro and guess what, the GPU is faulty. I'm seeing artifacts (horizontal black lines) whenever I use the PC.
I've already done the usual stuff, updated the drivers and so on.. Already contacted the MSI for RMA however, the reply is awfuly slow and they told me that the process will take at least 3 weeks. Great....
Any useful tips that may help to solve this or should just wait for this slow RMA process? :(
    Thanks.

Can't see the black lines you talk about.
Maybe you can show a desktop picture and point in out?
This was the best way to show the problem. Please, check carefully at the following secs: 17s and 51s. There is a flickering following with the horizontal black lines. I just added some notes to the video to help.

Are you having the FreeDOS unit? or you have a pre-installed OS?
Mind to share the Resource Monitor page? Check if there is any unusual usage of the CPU, memory or disks.

  • Volume issues with GE60 Apache Pro-003

I recently picked up the new GE60 Apache Pro notebook, and I've been running it for about a week now. I should of course mention that I also did a clean windows install after adding an SSD to the system (and now can't figure out how to add back that cool MSI panel that was there when I first got the system).
Anyway, I've noticed that there seems to be volume issues with the system no matter WHAT kind of settings I tweak, or drivers I try to use. With all sliders up at maximum, the volume levels still never seem to surpass around 50% (from observing the volume gauges in the Windows Volume mixer panel). My previous notebook's speakers put out significantly higher volume, and was also able to put out far more power to my headphones (Audio Technica ATH-M50).
Any possible ideas for the cause and solution to this problem? Thanks in advance, and let me know if there is anything else I need to mention.

Quote from: darkhawk on 02-April-14, 20:44:14
What are you using to gauge the '50%'? MP3's? Windows sounds? or what?
Pretty much everything. Music, games, online videos... According to the volume mixer, the audio levels never seem to pass 50%. The grey bar bounces to the peak, but the green bar never seems to pass the 50% level. It's as if there's some sort of limiter in place I'm not aware of. And since I reformatted the notebook as soon as I got it, I was never able to see if the volume control worked correctly before the reformat.

  • VBios Medion Erazer x7821x equal to MSI GT70 Series

    Hi,
I watches this Forum for some time and i hope someone (eventually "Svet") can help me.
I have a Medion Erazer x7821 with GForce Gtx 670mx. This Notebook should base on the MSI GT70 Series.
My big Problem is the locked vBios of the GTX 670mx. With the original vBios its impossible to overclock the Card. MSI Afterburner shows no usable results and NVidia Inspector let me adjust the clock but every time i try to accept the changes the controls jumps back to normal (if i try to underclock the card with NVidia Inspector the changes are accepted). So i think the overclocking is completely blocked by the vbios.
I saved the vBios and try to edit it with "Kepler BIOS Tweaker v.1.25". On opening the saved ROM i become an Error and the programm closed (tried on Win8 and Win7) so i have no chance to see the real content of the File.
I got the 1,5GB Model GTX 670mx actual BIOS Version:
    Version:80.04.5B.00.A5 ID:10DE:11A1:1462:10D9
    GK104 Board - 2051b003 (Normal Board)
    GeForce GTX 670MX    (10DE,11A1,1462,10D9) H:--:NRM B:01,PCI,D:00,F:00
    Thanks
P.S.: Please forgive my bad english totay... had a looong night *lol*

This is an MSI forum. It only covers MSI retail products and no Medion products no matter what oem products Medion used.

  • MSI Mega series girder plugin version 2.0 available

    Hallo
    EDIT:
There is a new version out: check here for details of the version 2.
I'm proud to release the first version of my MSI Mega series plugin for girder 3.2. Thank for all the reported bugs :-). I implemented a new feature to set the time resolution of the remote control. People with the new firmware will enjoy the gained flexibility. Current version is 1.0.0.70.
    Where to get the plugin?
The plugin can be downloaded from my webpage. Check out http://n.ethz.ch/student/nschmid/MSIStuff for details :-) - [See note below]
    Which hardware is supported?
MSI MEGA series front IR controller. It has been tested with MSI MEGA 180/865/651.
What software do I have to install to use the plugin?
Girder version 3.2. Buy it at http://www.girder.nl ~20$
DLLs: MSIDrvIF.dll, ForMpc.dll. They come with MSI MediaCenter III Deluxe. Search for it.
    How do I install it?
Copy "MSIGirderPlugin.dll" from the "bin" directory into your girder plugin folder.
Copy "MSIDrvIF.dll", "ForMpc.dll" from your MSI Media Center III directory into the girder folder.
    What does it cost?
    Of course nothing.
    How to report bugs?
Check out the webpage for details.
I hope you enjoy it. Developing will go on :-)
    Best regards
      Nathan
EDIT by Stu: The plugin is now attached to this post and can be downloaded from here now. :hat tip:
[ ERROR: SPECIFIED ATTACHMENT MISSING ]

    Sure.
You have to install MSI Media Center because it installs the driver for the plugin. The required DLLs are not sufficient because ForMpc.dll need mpcsys.sys and assosciated files. I couldn't figure out all the dependencies but with the installation you got all you need.
1.) Now you can launch setup.exe and it should install everything automatically.
If that don't work: Copy MsiDrvIF.dll and ForMpc.dll form your Media Center installation into the girder directory (normally C:\Program Files\girder) and MSIGirderPlugin.dll from my release into the girder plugin directory (C:\Program Files\girder\plugins). That's the system part.
2.) Now launch Girder and open settings. In the plugins tab search for the "MSI Mega series" entry in the list. If it's not listed you did something wrong into step 1. If it is listed check the checkbox left of the plugin. Then also check "Auto Enable Input device". Restart girder.
Create a new command (CTRL+ALT+A) click on it and on the right side of the window select the Plugins tab and click there on MSI mega series. Then click on Settings. As Time resolution enter 250 (a quarter second - depends on firmware of Bluebird VL+). As model select your model. Press on OK.
Restart girder - your settings will apply.
3.) Now when girder is opened again you can press the remote and check if the LED on the right side of the status bar changes color. If that is so everything is ok. If not: Check all steps again.
4.) If you want to launch my sample configuration: Go to girder website and download the Popup OSD plugin by Mark Fiechtner and install it as written in the readme file of Popup OSD. Launch girder and go to the plugins tab in the settings. Check AlarmTimer and Popup OSD there. The sample file should work now. Unfortunatly you have to rerecord some of the makros because the version of winamp or PowerDVD are perhaps not the same as in my computer.
For this stuff please post in girder forum. I don't support the sample file.
    Hope that helps
    Regards
      Nathan

  • MSI GE70 2PC 018NL Apache Overheating/No cooling

Last saturday i bought an MSI GE70 laptop as my old laptop was getting outdated.
The laptop has a i7 4700 CPU and GTX850M graphics card.
I followed the installation wizard which is shown starting the laptop and installed Windows 8.1
I resumed to update the graphics drivers to their latest version.
I installed ESO and found out that the laptop was feeling hot, and the FPS never came above 10 FPS.
Because of the heat i installed MSI Afterburner to check the core temperatures, and the CPU was at around 90 degrees, the GPU at around 92 degrees.
After doing some searches on the internet i found that some people said their laptop's cooling fan made quite a bit of noise. Mine on the other hand was completely quiet, i felt with my hand and could not feel any airflow.
I then tried the "ice cold?"  button (correct me if i got the name wrong) to activate the cooling, but that also did not do anything.
When not running any applications except Windows the CPU core is ~80 degrees and the GPU is ~65 degrees.
Note: I did put the laptop on a Zalman 17" laptop cooler, with a big fan underneath, because i already know overheating problems.
Now, the store i bought it from does allow me to return it without any trouble. I just want to know if there is something i might be missing.
Something that might be done to activate the fans.
Thanks in advance for any replies,
    Meervluis

    Allright, update from my reseller:
    - They agree with me that the laptop is broken, and i can get my money back OR for additional pay can get another system.
Now... i'd like some input from you guys
I found two laptops which i might want to buy, but i don't know which:
    - MSI GE70 2PC 272NL Apache - Core i7 4710HQ (NVidia GTX850M 2GB DDR5)  price new 1199,- euro
    - MSI GT70 2PC 1084XNL Dominator - Core i7 4800MQ (NVidia GTX870M 3GB DDR5) price new 1349,- euro
Now, the apache comes with Windows 8.1, the Dominator with FreeDos (which i do not know :S)
Both of them do not have SSD, but i have two Samsung SSD's at home, so that's not a problem.
I'd say the dominator is more bang for bucks, but i have to install Windows 7 (which i have legally) myself.
Could you guys give me more information about both laptops? or experiences you've had.
    Thanks so far,
    Meervluis

  • MSI Gaming GE70-2PEi781W7 (Apache Pro) ssd slots??

Hi from Greece! I am thinking of buying msi laptop for my first time.
The brand is unknown to my country and very few online shops have msi laptops.
I like to ask if the model MSI Gaming GE70-2PEi781W7 (Apache Pro) with EAN Code: 4719072365691 and Part Number: 001759-SKU10 does it have free ssd slot for future install?
Is there a similar part number or ean code between the models to understand that they have this feature?
Please answer as soon as possible because good models in offer after 4-7 days there r out of stock
    Thanks in advance, Nick

    Hi,
This photo tells all storage options for certain notebook models:
Also note that it depends on what you actually buy: you can either buy NB with  HDD or with HDD and SSD.
So in this case, even if your notebook comes with HDD+SSD, there will be one more slot available, and I believe it will be mSATA.
Also before you think about upgrading, note that removing back cover in order to add storage does not void warranty as long as you don't do any damage inside while doing this, but best if you confirm this with the shop you might want to buy from or with MSI:

  • Month Owned MSI GE60 Apache Pro Fan Issues

    Hi everyone,
I have had my MSI GE60 Apachce Pro 15" laptop for a little over a month now.
For the first month, I could barely hear the fans when leaving the laptop idle or using non-power hungry applications that do not involve gaming, such as browsing the web or watching videos. Now, however,  the fan seems to always be running at a medium intensity, even when idle. As soon as I boot up the laptop, the fan is much more noisy than it used to be and stays that way.
The program HWinfo64 shows my CPU temperature at usually 41 degrees Celsius. Moreover, turning on the Cooler Blaster feature does not decrease the advertised 5-10% temperatures either. In fact, it increases the heat to around 42-43 degrees Celsius.
My desk is usually completely dust free, so I do not think dust is the issue here. I will have to open up the back to be completely sure, but I do not want to void my warranty for something as silly as cleaning it out (There is a void sticker right above one of the necessary screws to remove the back casing. I will contact MSI to inquire about this because I read that MSI will allow owners to remove this sticker in certain locations without voiding the warranty).
Could there be any other reason besides dust that could make my fans this noisy? Does anyone have suggestions on improving it? Thank you.

    Quote from: James D on 12-May-14, 09:11:18
Try to remove battery and hold power button for 5 sec.
I tried that a few times, but it did not work. The fan noise is becoming unbearable tbh. Considering selling it now :/
