and I have couple of questions
1-I want to install win8.1 64 bit for the first time, should i upgrade Bios (current version is 5.06)?
2- where can i find Drivers for win8.1 64bit(its own cd drivers is only for win 864 bit) because the model that Msi put in Main site
is little bit diffrent (MY laptops cpu is 4800MQ)
thanks indeed in advance.
with best regards

Hello,
No you don't have to upgrade BIOS, and if not required, don't do this. Very risky thing to do, especially on NB.
It doesn't quite matter if your CPU is i7 or i5 (just an example), as the drivers are pretty much the same (apart from chipset). Also I think that if 8.1 SW is not available on MSI's website, then using win 8 should work fine too. Just about to try this out by you

  • S10 / S10e drivers and BIOS update interchangeable?

    Hello,
there is the Lenovo Quick Start for Windows XP - IdeaPad S9e and S10e did any S10 user try to install that. For installation it requires at least BIOS version 14CN45tt. Does the BIOS update of the S10e work for the S10 and do all other drivers of the S10e work for the S10?
    Thanks for sharing any experience

I don't think QuickStart will work due to the fact that there's a splashtop on S10e and not S10, and people are still trying to figure a way to get it. Bios update however, is interchangable. I already updated my S10 with S10e's bios. I did see "some" improvements, but a very small margin. Lenovo still needs to fix the fan issue that is haunting more than half of its user.

  • Satellite T210 - Windows 8 x64 drivers and BIOS update

Can anyone from Toshiba Support tell me if and when we can expect Windows 8 x64 drivers for Toshiba T210? The equipment is pretty classic. I am sure this is very easy to compile available drivers into the official release
I also wanted to know as when Toshiba T210 finally gets BIOS update. Its current BIOS version is 1.60 while many other similar and earlier models jumped to 2.2 BIOS version and above
    Regards,

This is user to user forum so you will not get answer from Toshiba support directly.
What I can say is follow:
All about Win8 on Toshiba notebooks you can read on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8-message/
Under Toshiba Compatibility Matrix you can check if your notebook model is supported for Win8 or not.
What to say about BIOS. Toshiba doesnt offer BIOS update if there is no some critical problem or some reason for that. If your piece of hardware works well and stabile there is no reason for BIOS update. What do you expect should happen with newer BIOS version?

  • MSI GE60 2OE touchpad

    Hi,
I just purchased MSI GE60 2OE. Upon using it, realized that the touchpad clicks at even a slight touch (almost the entire touch pad, not just the left and right click buttons). When i say click, i mean it produces that "clicking" sound, like as though u just left/right clicked. I thought it served the same function as the left click button but when i tried it, nothing happens. I'm wondering if the clicking of the touchpad is normal and what is its function.
    Thanks!

I can only speak about my GT70 0NE, and it doesn't have any 'clicking' type ability, and the touchpad is very solid feeling (as in I can't make it click when pressing hard on it).
Something doesn't sound right to be honest. Unless this is a new feature that they added recently to the notebooks.

  • MSI z77a GD80 PCI-e running at 8x and Bios update problem

Hi guys, first of all, sorry for my bad English, this is also my first topic, i recently bought a new PC, the spec is:
    i7 3770k @4,3ghz
    Corsair H80
    MSI z77a GD80 bios 1.2
    GTX 680 lightning
    8gb ddr3 1600mhz cas9 G.Skill
    1TB HDD WD Caviar Black
    Asus xonar DX
The problem is, since the first bios, i can't run my PCI-E at 16x, i know when my card is idle the PCI-E goes to 1.1@4x , but when it's in use, it turns to PCI-E 3.0@8x   , I'm also waiting for bios updates to check if it solves my problem, but when i try to download the new version 1.3, the download fails ( I'm trying to download with Live update 5 )m is there somebody that can help me solve this problem pls?
    I've tried until now:
Replace the card into the first PCI-E slot again
    Clear the PCI-E slot
Update to bios 1.1 and 1.2 ( 1.3 is not even downloading )
Set PCI Gen 3 from Auto to disable, and it keeps running with PCI-E 3.0@8x
    Thx for any help !

As per the manual, the VGA must be in the primary slot to run 16X. BIOS setting for graphics 3.0 should be set to Auto.
    Do not use Live Update for BIOS updates. Too many borked boards are the result. Use the forum's USB method;
      >> Forum Flash Method <<
Just curious. If I installed Add-on card that run at PCI-E 4X on 3rd slot (2nd slot is empty) what's configuration will apply ?

  • How do I update drivers and BIOS on Satellite P300?

I've been having problems with my wifi, and as my partners laptop is working fine, it was suggested that I might need to update drivers and/or BIOS.
I've tried to do this but where do you download the BIOS/driver updates to?
It just defaults into 'my documents', sits there and does nothing?
After downloading, How do I ensure my notepad 'takes' the updates?
As you can see, I'm not overly technical so any advice in simpletons terms please...
    Thanks.

    Hello
All drivers and tools for your notebook can be downloaded here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
At first I would try a WLAN driver update. If you have downloaded the WLAN driver, unzip all files and start the setup.exe file. This will automatically install the new driver and will be used now.

  • MSI GE60 2OE - blocked, Win 8.1 trouble

    First of all, Hello everybody!
I'm in big trouble with my MSI, I got stuck and don't know what else to do. I have been trying to fix for three days, looking for information, I have read most of sticky post and searching in the forum and I haven't found any working solution.
I purchased my GE60 2OE about two months ago. I have been used it happily since first day with Win 8.1
I installed a mSata SSD and removed the old hard disk in order to make a clean install, then I started to install Win 8.1 but I cancelled it just after the installer formats the hard disk (I was installing it on the mSata) in the same installer I erased the partitions created so I could restart the installation from the beginning, but when I cancelled and restarted the installation the problem was there:
The laptop starts and stops just at the beginning, with a blank screen. When I restart and press F12 or supr, or F11 for selecting boot device, a single line appears but I can't get into the bios neither select any device. I have discovered, that removing any hard disk and starting only with the Usb with Win 8.1 installer, first appears the blue windows logo, after that a blue screen appears: "your pc got into a problem and needs to restart..." "acpi bios error" and immediately reboots in a loop with the same thing. May be it's a error with the uefi Bios and Win 8.1
The current bios version: E16GCIMS.517 (I updated it, I think it was fine, installation went OK and I restarted the laptop twice)
The set up in the bios was AHCI, and UEFI.
Also I remember just before the installation I changed not to display the msi logo, just for trying what happened.
Well, I have tried with many rescue bootable Usb, linux distributions, and none of then starts, it just freezes at start with a blank screen.
I can't get into the bios, even I can't flash it, I have tried with bootable usb with bios flashing and nothing.
I have read that clearing the CMOS may help, but I can't find any jumper or button in the laptop, I have tried to unplug AC, disconnect the motherboard power for few minutes, etc. and no results.
I don't know what else I can do. Please, any different point of view or any help would be welcome.
    Thank you very much!

  • MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Issues & BIOS Update

     bios.zip (136.34 kB - downloaded 37 times.)
    Hello,
ever since I bought my GTX 970 I've had about 5 BSOD's while playing CS:GO and GTA:V. I am not sure whether it's a GPU issue or not, but I never had that issue before (at least with CS:GO).
    Tech specs:
    MB: z87-pro
    CPU: i7-4770K
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G
    OS: Win7 x64 SP1
    latest OS updates
    latest nVidia drivers
I've been wondering if there's a BIOS update for my GPU? I also tried just today to download MSI Live Update 6 but after executing the installer it displays "This application does not support this platform."
    I've attached my GPU Bios.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
With LiveUpdate, don't worry. Many users got issue with it, I believe MSI is aware of this already.
Is your motherboard running latest BIOS?
Is it known to work fine with other graphics card??
Do you have any OC on your CPU/RAM? (RAM OC=more than 1600MHz). Remove and try again.
What did the BSOD say? Error code?
    Heya, thanks for the reply.
That's good to know for Live Update, just wanted to let you know. Before my GTX970 I was using an Asus GTS 450 (I know, lame) and used integrated graphics a couple of times but never had BSOD's during games with either of those. I didn't take a note of the BSOD error code, can I find a log somewhere on my system to upload it?
OC-wise everything is running on stock clock, BIOS is also latest version (2103, according to Asus).

  • MSI GE60-2OE Fan Issue

    Hello
So I've had mine MSI GE60 for little over a year now and recently the fan has been making 'rattling' and 'grinding' noises. I went onto the forums and search for similar topics and people said there are a  few possibilities.
    1) Fan is not balanced
    2) Dust build-up
    3) Fan bearing being used up
Many people said to contact MSI and ask for a replacement fan if the laptop is on warranty (Mine still is, Until Feb 2016)
However here is the problem. When I purchased the laptop I registered it straight away. Now when I go onto the MSI Register Product page it is not there. I am being asked for the serial number of the Laptop but I don't have the box. I have the proof of purchase and all the warranty documentation but dont know where to look for the Serial Number of the Laptop. It is not on the back Sticker. All it says is "GE60 2OE I77400MQ / 16GB / 1000GB / GTX765M FHD"
Is there any other way to get the serial number of the laptop? Device Manager? BIOS? (I'm running Win 8.1)

try removing the battery - my GE60 has a sticker, with the serial number on the battery slot which will reveal once you remove it. good luck on your RMA :D

  • MSI z87 G43 OC GENIE ISSUE/Bios UPDATE

Hi Everyone, This is my First time posting to the forums.
Here Are my System Specs Before I post the question
    Motherboard: msi z87 g43
CPU: intel core i7 4770k (haswell)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Ram ddr3 clocked at 1333mhz, 16gb, using 4 4gb sticks.
    GPU: evga gtx 770 nvidia
PSU: Bronze certified psu at around 850 watt.
CPU COOLER: is a standard corsair single radiator water cooler
    QUESTION/PROBLEM:
Ive had this computer built for about a year (basically right when the gtx 770 released). I have no problems with the device and it works perfectly. The motherboard however is where my problems starts to arise. I tried my hand at overclocking but ended up with a blue screen after some stress testing and just set my values back to default. But since then I really havent tried anything new with it. However, I noticed OC genie and I thought hey maybe Ill try this out for a chance. So I boot up and go into the bios set up (all values are default) and press the oc genie. As soon as the screen flashed back up I get a black screen and can not post. The only way to actaully fix this is to reset my CMOS which luckily I know how to do. But the black screen displayed also had a number letter combo at the bottom. It displayed 9C at the bottom in white. But when I get a successfull boot into the bios right beofre the bios logo I get a black screen with A2. But the A2 appears in every boot. Now heres where things get funky. I have a logitech Camera I use primarily for skype. When I have the device plugged in before the computer is booted. When I try to boot I get the black screen with the 9C, but when I unplug and reboot, I get the A2 and I get into my OS.
Now I tried overclocking again at 46 multiplyer with a 1.2v but When I did I get text saying its not successfull and resets my bios info, (which is cool considering oc genie didnt do this it just corrupts my CMOS).
So you must all be asking what version of the bios I have and the answer is 1.0....
Now I know there is a 1.9 and even a 1.A version which came out this year in 2014
The problem with this however is I know the dangers of flashing my bios and it can really screw up my mobo as in brick the darn thing. But from what I read, Live update form msi does not work and I shouldnt use it. But Is flashing the bios via the bios set up where there is a section specifically for flashing safe to do? With the oc genie not working im scared to try flashing my bios via the bios setup if that makes any sense
To wrap it up, is it a problem with my mobo, do I need to update my bios to fix it? If yes then what is the safest way of doing it since ive never done a bios update before (but i get the concept put the up date on a FAT 32 load it from it in the bios set up option let it do its thing and boom ) .

The method above does NOT apply to your board. Either use MFlash (bios + ME option) or use the below:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive (E7816IMS_1A0.rar.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows:  http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip

OK Is there anyway to really update my bios so I can use my Phenom II if I'm running Vista 64? Ive read the live update info and I'm not sure that works with the 64 bit vista. The i read about the flash drive bios update and I'm not sure that's 64 bit compatible. As a side note why don't they have liveupdate 64bit compatible yet? Sadly MSI hasn't yet supplied us with a 64-bit version of LiveUpdate.
Personally I've been using AMI's Windows Flash Utility AFUWIN.exe several times. Works flawlessly even when running Vista x64.

  • MSI GE60 2OE - Nvidia card not recognized after shutting off the laptop

So I received my laptop from RMA some days ago. It was just coz the plastic hinge of the screen, broke.
When I received it, I had some Windows problems. So I reinstalled  it 3 times, the last one from a different ISO (all were official 8.1 windows isos). The last time seemed to work fine, until I noticed I had a problem. Everytime I turn off the laptop, and turn it on, the nvidia card (765M GTX) isnt recognized. It doesnt appear in device manager at all, or it appears as unknown 3D device.I have to uninstall intel gfx drivers, nvidia drivers, and run Display Driver Uninstaller , so the drivers recognize the card again. But if I shutdown the laptop, then I have to repeat this process again...
I tried different drivers, updated other component drivers from http://www.station-drivers.com/ , I have the latest BIOS, etc..
When the card is being recognized, it works fine, no overheating nor artifacts in games.
    What can it be?

have you done OS restore to factory default?
or a new fresh OS installation?
Or when you turn it off,
then boot to DOS and see if nvflash will see the card
this will help to isolate if its Win OS issue or something else hardware related
