  • FPS / Stuttering Issues (Overheat , Speedstep Issues ? ) MSI GE60 2PE APACHE PRO

    **EDIT**
Unable to post direct image links , please ad HTTP:// before links
Good evening Fellow Gamers and Adepts.
I come to you tonight with a serious doubt , which has rattled me for a while , and after some intense troubleshooting i have came up blank.
    Here's the deal , as stated , i have a MSI GE60 2PE apache Pro
Now , playing cs go has been the bane of my existence, i am aware there are heating issues with this laptop , but those have been fixed by a Thermal repaste, a cooling pad and the backplate removed.
Now i have no more throttling of CPU , and GPU appears to handle fine aswell; the thing is i keep having MASSIVE lag spikes in CS:GO , and apparently they are being cause by CPU issues.
    Image for clarification .
(Standart situation , notice the relative low fps for a old game)
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80
After a few seconds the following occurs
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80,27y1P5C,aq30R4r#1
Notice the fps drop and the CPU frequency percent alert in game
another shot of this in console so you can see the several occurrences
    imgur.com/cJ2Ly80,27y1P5C,aq30R4r#2
now keep in mind that these are the lowest game settings, in Fullscreen windowed mode , if i even CONSIDER putting it on standart fullscreen i get unplayable jitterness and fps that range from 10 to 80 , all in a second.
Now , as i have stated i have fooled around and disabled speedstep in the bios , meaning that the cpu is always at 100%, seeing i have removed the backplate , throttling is not an issue as IXT (Intel extreme tuning) can attest.
note aswell the "active core count" spikes to 4/3 in the exact moments of the stutters, meaning that both problems should , in theory , be connected .

can ANYONE give me an ideia of whats going on ? i rather enjoy playing with games with friends , but this is driving me up the wall..
Lastest NVIDIA / Laptop drivers installed ; Bios Updated and EC firmware aswell.
Thank you for your time guys x)

  • Request for BIOS: GE60 2PE Apache Pro

    Hello Svet.
From what I have read, you can unlock the BIOS features from MSI laptops.
I have a MSI GE 2PE Apache Pro with BIOS E16GFIMS.518 retrieved from www . msi . com/product/nb/GE60_2PE_Apache_Pro.html
My installed OS is Windows 8.1 x64 English
I understand that this is a performance laptop, but I am hopping that from unlocking the BIOS, I can change something in order to make it quieter, namely stop the fan when the PC is in idle and some other settings in order to increase the autonomy. Is that possible?
Also, please feel free to PM me with the usual amount for the donation.
Thank you and keep the good work.

    well done

  • [Help!] A problem with the display of my GE60 2PE Apache Pro

I just got a new GE60 2PE Apache Pro and this is my first msi laptop I've ever had. I don't know what's seem to be the cause of my msi, but the display is always black and kind of glitchy at first when I just start it up.
The msi logo and the Windows 8's blue flag is also displaying fine, but after that on other Windows 8 OS, it's suppose to show the password screen. But instead, it's just black with several glitching white color. It's solved after pressing the windows button + P, which is supposed to control the dual monitor settings. After that, I checked on the display settings in the control panel and my device manager it's like this:
From the display settings and device manager, it seems that I kind of like have two monitors installed in my msi. It looks like one monitor for my Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, and the other one is for my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M, although I don't know which one's running which. And it seems like the default display screen on my msi is the 2nd monitor (See from the display settings in control panel) because the 1st monitor is like plain black or acted like a projector in which I can either duplicate, extend, or turn it off using the PC Screen Only option when I press the windows + P.
But thinking back to every time I turn on my msi, the screen is black and I have to press windows + P to be able to actually see the display. Does this mean that every time I turn the PC on, the monitor is running the 1st one while the actual thing is running in the 2nd screen?
Is there any way to fix this so every time I turn it on I don't have to press windows + P to actually see the display? I'm having trouble because sometimes pressing windows + P doesn't work and I have to restart again using the power button to try and see does the windows + P will work the second try. Please help

Delete, remove, uninstall, whatever term you'd like to use for getting rid of it from your device manager.
Disabling it won't help, it'll still be there.
Judging by what I'm seeing, there's an extra entry for a monitor and it's most likely the issue that's causing your screen to misbehave.
Okay, so here's an update about the current situation:
I did gather up the courage to uninstall both Generic PnP Monitor from the Device Manager. Everything seems okay after I uninstalled it, the screen is not off, it's just as before. After I uninstalled both monitors from the Device Manager, I tried to see the Display Settings, but it is still showing two monitors (With the 2nd monitor displaying my actual screen and the 1st is plain black). I thought maybe it has to be restarted for it to take effects. So I shut it down, and boot it again (Because so far just doing a normal restart won't occur with the black screen. The "shut down and boot" is how do the black screen occurs again.) I really hope that the problem is fixed, but it's still the same. Showing the black screen with some glitching white stripes, and I have to press the Windows + P to get to the actual screen again. After I look up the Device Manager again, here's what's shown:
The Generic PnP Monitor showed up again! And it's two of them. So is there any other solution or any idea of what's causing this?
Thanks for all the help so far.

  • MSI GE60 2PF (Apache Pro)-609UK

    Hi All
I'm new to forum so hello!
I'm looking to buy my son a mid-range gaming laptop, he doesn't need anything crazy fast and have come across the MSI GE60 2PF Apache Pro.
Only thing is, when I do a search for the laptop itself in a search engine it doesn't bring that information up about it.  The specs according to the website are as follows:
    Intel® Core™ i7-4810MQ Quad Core Processor
    15.6" Full HD Screen
    Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit
    16GB DDR3 RAM
    128GB SSD + 1000GB 7200 RPM HDD
    DVD Rewriter
    Dedicated GTX 860M 2GB Graphics
    USB3 | HDMI | Bluetooth
    2 Year MSI Warranty
Does anybody know any more about this laptop?
    Thanks

Yeah, that's the one.  Was looking for more "hands on" experience though.
The real issue I have is that this laptop is about £200 cheaper than the GE60 2PE laptop.  I can't see any differences with the two other than the PF has the 4810 and the PE has the 4710 processor.  Just seems a tad weird that the PF is a lot cheaper...  Just wondering if I'm missing something glaringly obvious?

  • MSI GE70 2PE APACHE PRO WORKS AWFUL

I recently bought this i also got a ge60 with a gtx660m and it actually works better than this. I get low fps and even stutter while i playing
i checked the the temps and they are 60(gpu) 95(cpu) just after 5 min for a decent game. I cant even play dota with really low graphical settings i take care of my computer really well i think(all driver are up to date, and i clean my pc with CCleaner and etc. ). I have nothing to do and i am really frustrated for this situation. Anyone with any ideas that would help ?
    Model : GE70 Apache Pro 2PE-406TR
     Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ 2.5GHz
    Chipset : Intel HM86
     16 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz
    Ram: 16GB
    GeForce GTX 860M 2GB GDDR5
    128GB SSD + 1 TB HDD 7200rpm

I meant while cpu is 90-95 degrees, core speed sometimes decreases as 1/3 for a moment(that moment pc stutters) so this happens for a short moment but like 12-13 times in a minute. And because of that i couldn't capture the moment it stutters but i can give a normal capture from the moments cpu is 90-95 degree if that helps. thank you

  • Is it possible to attach an ACER T232HL Touch Screen Monitor to my MSI GS70 2PE Apache Pro?

Will the external monitor fully display the touch capability of Win 8 loaded in the notebook? Any tips on how to do it? Thanks in advance.

first of all it's called GS70 2PE and not Apache Pro xD secondly um you mean like a touch screen external monitor? or just normal external monitor? then it should support fully resolution yes by using fn + f2 if new monitor is giving black screen.

  • MSi GE60 2QE Apache Pro - Simple Questions

    Hi,
I just purchased my laptop yesterday, and overall I'm quite happy with it! I do have a couple of questions:
    1) My idle temperature of my GPU is around 50 degrees, which is a little warmer than my old laptop. Is also true for you other MSi notebook owners?
    2) After installing some software and games, I am somewhat unhappy at the read/write speeds of the given 1TB HDD. I was thinking of installing a SSD to speed everything up. After taking a look at the specifications online, I see that there is also an mSATA socket for a SSD.
    a) The specifications indicate that its up to 128GB. Is this what MSi could potential provide default? Can I install a larger mSATA SSD  (e.g. 256GB), or am I limited to at most 128GB?
    b) Can I have both the mSATA SSD and the 1TB HDD inside the notebook?
    c) If (b) is true, can I clone the data (OS,apps, etc) from the HDD to the SSD, and boot the computer from the mSATA SSD?
I have only take a quick search, but I saw threads how some users were having issues with the mSATA with their own respective notebook. Is there anything I should know or is there a guide in order to properly add an additional SSD and set it as a boot?
    Thanks for all your help

    1) Your temperature seems normal for me. I have a GE60 2QE sample here and it also got 90~93 degree while running FurMark, just a maximum.
    2)
     a) I think 256GB is not a big deal, but if you want to make sure, find the post on Internet to see if any one had installed it. I don't think there's any limitation to install SSD more than 128GB.
     b) Yes, your model has at least 1 mSATA port for SSD.
     c) Yes, run the BurnRecovery (the icon on Desktop) to build a recovery image (from hidden partition) and recover it to your newly purchased SSD.
Remember to buy SSDs for SATA interface, not PCI-E interface.

  • Msi ge60 2pc apache pro fan problem

So 2 days ago, while I was playing some games. I noticed that my fan made a weird noise. Like the fanblades are hitting something. So I opened the notebook up and cleaned it from dust, even though there really wasn't that much dust.
I looked at the fan if it was hitting something but I really can't see anything? What could be the problem. I only have this notebook for like 3 months and I'm not really looking forward to sending it to msi and having to do without my notebook for a few weeks. I need it at home and at school.
    Thank you.

that rattling noise sems to be fan layer is wearing off early :/ so yeah for it to be fixed free you would sadly have to send it to MSI Service in your country where they will open your laptop up have look at fan and confirm that fan is wearing out so they will re-place it with new one under warranty if you still have vaild warranty

  • MOVED: Extremely Low Performance - nvidia gtx 860m - MSI GE60 2PE-489XPL

This topic has been moved to GAMING Notebooks.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=255963.0

Have you tried the official graphic drivers (both Intel & NVIDIA) from MSI?
    http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GE60-2PE-Apache-Pro.html#down-driver
Select your OS and proceed to download them.
Usually Intel & NVIDIA drivers are generic and they won't support some OEM machines which were equipped with some specialized graphic cards quite well. Sometimes workarounds and fixes are missed or not patched in generic drivers after some periods so they may cause some problems.
