MSI GE60 NC Wireless Problem!

Hello everyone,
I'll summarize my problem quickly. Hope we can solve this since it becomes very annoying.
I'm using MSI GE60 NC for 8 months now. The notebook came with Win7 then in January I updated to Win8 using the cheap update offer from W7 to W8.
My problem is with the wireless and it actually started after my update to Win8.
My wireless is disconnecting after a while, sometimes it is 30 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. When I try to reconnect I'm getting "limited access" message and can't connect to internet. To be able to reconnect I usually need to restart my computer or choose "fix problems option" after I got the error message. After the reconnect i'm getting another disconnection after a while.
My router is Asus RT-N 10E and it has the latest firmware. I'm also using a PlayStation 3 and a smart phone on this router without a problem so far. But the weird thing is I didn't have this problem on my notebook as well when i was using Win7.
I also tested my notebook at girlfriend's home and i got the same annoying disconnections there as well.
I'm really getting annoyed. I googled this problem too. Even though there are lots of people having the same problem I couldn't find a proper solution.
Here's what I did to fix the problem so far:
Updated and re-installed Intel Canyon Peak Centrino Wireless drivers several times.
Disabled every possible power saving features for wireless adapter (including the one in the device manager)
I've also found a firmware for the wireless adapter on MSI website which is actually released yesterday.
But i haven't tried it yet since in the attention section there's a warning about updating the firmware to Win8 if Win7 is already installed. I have no idea what that means.
I'm waiting for your suggestions guys. Thanks already.

Hello again,
My bios version is 2.14.1219
As i said before i disabled every power saving feature including the control panel powerprofile and the one in the device manager.
I have the latest drivers from msi website.
There's a recently released firmware for my wi-fi adapter on msi website but i haven't tried it yet since in the attention section there's a warning about updating the firmware to Win8 if Win7 is already installed. I have no idea what that means.
Looking forward to any solution and suggestion. Thanks

im not a big on the internet side but my brothers laptop works fine with the wireless and he is set up just the same as my laptop with the internet.

have you tried disabling creative cinema software? and see if issue remains? since i noticed that could be cause of mine doing no noise some times in windows and such.

  • MSI GE60-203 AUDIO PROBLEM

    Hi ,
My MSI GE60-20e the speaker and headphone(i plug in my earpiece) work at the same time, makes me so frustrated , tried installed the latest realtek driver from MSI website but sitill not working ... Any advises?

In the Realtek HD Audio Manager, in the upper right corner of the screen is a button, "Device Advanced Settings". Click that, and in the new window you should have 2 options on the top and 2 on the bottom. Set the top one to "Mute the internal output device, when an external output device plugged in".
That should fix the issue I believe.

  • MSi GE60 0ND Wireless isdues

    Msi ge60 0nd
    Intel centrino-n 135
    Driver: 15.5.4.45
Lately my laptop is constantly disconnecting, slow or just won't work properly for a period.
For example, today was the worst.... wifi is jumping from 2/3/5 bars and constantly disconnecting and while doing this my samsung galaxy s4 is watching a 1080p with a minute buffer ahead with no issues at all while on same wifi. It is clear zomething is wrong but i have no clue what to do...
Im using my lhone now to make this post as my laptop just isnt connecting long enougb......
Can someone please help as this is a nightmare, speed tests show nothing all keep saying same thing even isp speed tests show nothing wring.

I guess it's the antenna quality issue. If so, it will require a RMA.

  • MSI-1651 (GX620) Wireless problem

Just bought myself a new laptop - MSI-1651 from AVADIRECT and already there is a problem. For some reason after coming out of stand-by mode and resuming Windows (XP Pro SP3), the laptop cannot connect to my Wireless network for about 5 minutes or until I restart it. In addition, the laptop can just loose connection for 5-10 minutes and then reconnect and work perfectly. My previous laptop used to connect straight away and stay connected for as long as needed. Pressing 'Repair' does not help - the laptop freezes on 'Renewing IP Address'. Any suggestions why this is happening? I have the latest drivers for Intel Link 5100 installed and the BIOS has been updated to the latest version as well. Thanks in advance!

The exact same thing has happened to me. Just bought MSI VR220 and it doesn't connect to internet via my router.
As vkislicens describes it sometimes connects for a few minutes and then the connection dies. And also entering google as the first page sometimes makes it possible to go further on the internet.
When I click the network-Icon in the bottom right corner it says that my computer is connected to the router. And I can see the same thing on the router (with lights that goes on when the computer is connected).
I have another computer at home and it connects well to the internet via the router.
I dont get what the problem is....

There was an issue with the EC firmware that could cause this.
Go to your GE60's support page and download the latest EC firmware and use the MSI HQ USB Flasher to flash it.

  • MSI GE60 0NC Problems After Upgrade

    Hi,
Recently downgraded my MSI GE60 0NC from Windows 8 to Windows 7. Had some issues with the wireless connectivity. I then flashed the laptop to Windows 7 EC controllers. It was then working after this. I then purchased a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 512GB and Corsair Vengeance 16GB. After installing the SSD I then proceeded to do a fresh install of Windows 7. After downloading the wireless drivers I am being told that the drivers may be out dated. I dont understand what the issue is as the did the exact same procedure as before.
Can anyone help me out please as the laptop is useless at the moment

Thanks for the reply, check the first thing i wrote, i explained it a bit, also check the screenshot. I think that could be the problem, but im not that good with laptops so im not sure.. "MSI suite" cant find my motherboard so the program wont execute..
edit: i've already tried the SCM that you linked, i get some errors with net framework so it wont execute after the setup..

  • MSI GE60 0ND and Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth

I recently bought a Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth Adapter (Model Number: 7260HMW) for my MSI GE60 0ND to replace the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135.
Wifi works without any problem, but bluetooth does not, even with the newest Intel drivers v3.1.1309.
The bluetooth device isnt even listed in the device manager - there are also no unknown devices.
I´m using Windows 8 - also tried Windows 8.1 and a Fedora 20 Live-CD with the same result.
There is no bluetooth device listed.
Could it be possible that bluetooth function of the Intel 7260HMW is somehow disabled in the bios?

I tried the Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth Adapter in a Desktop Asus Maximus V Gene using a mPcie Combo-Adapter. Wifi and Bluetooth worked without any issue.
The Intel 7260 is definitly working.
Another issue regarding my MSI GE60:
I switched back to my Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 and still have no bluetooth functionality. I thought it would be a driver issue, but there are still no bluetooth devices listed in the device manager Windows 8.1). Under Linux Fedora 20 are also no bluetooth devices present.
It seems like bluetooth is somehow hardware disabled. In bios are no bluetooth options visible
Edit: Using Fedora and FN-Key + F9 enabled bluetoth for the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 again. Maybe when the SCM / FN-Key Application will work under Windows 8.1, enabling/disabling bluetooth using Windows 8.1 will be possible too
