It's probably not A SHORT CIRCUIT... it may just be a loose contact somewhere in that vicinity. Short circuits are usually more unforgiving, and permanent.
that what i thought too
in some laptops,if you place the iphone in some area the screen will turn off

How can I turn off Recently Visited Websites when opening new Safari window?
After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed. How can I turn this function off? I do NOT want my new Safari windows to have history displayed of previous websites I visited. I only want my Favorites (on the top) to be displayed. Please help.
Thank you for your time, patience, understanding, kindness, and concern.

Thanks for replying, but that isn't the answer I am looking for.  Also, there is no + sign, UNLESS you do tap the overlapping boxes.
Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
*UPDATE  (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.
Thank you for your help bobseufert! I appreciate your concern, kindness, and the time to try to help. I am grateful.
    Have a blessed day.

  • Msi p45 platinum - freezes after power save turns off displays

Just put this computer together, everything is stock, no overclocking. Seems to run fine, played a few hours of modern warfare 2 with no issues.
I noticed It seems to freeze after the monitor gets turned off by the power save mode. I just tested this by setting it to turn off displays after 1 minute of inactivity, waited watched the monitor turn off, then I went to the move the mouse and the screen came back on but the cursor would not move. sometimes the screen will not even come back on.
I have turned the computer on, left the room while it was booting to eat breakfast or take a shower, came back the screen was still on but the computer was frozen. Window 7 login screen was up, but there were some graphic glitches. this has happened a couple of times.
If I manually put the computer to sleep it seems to come back properly.

I think it might be the video card or power supply. Was building two systems,

Installed from same OS disc and same set of drivers. Second system seems to operate the powersave mode for the monitor correctly. Will have to do some testing switching videocards tonight.

  • MSI GE60 0NC Problems After Upgrade

    Hi,
Recently downgraded my MSI GE60 0NC from Windows 8 to Windows 7. Had some issues with the wireless connectivity. I then flashed the laptop to Windows 7 EC controllers. It was then working after this. I then purchased a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 512GB and Corsair Vengeance 16GB. After installing the SSD I then proceeded to do a fresh install of Windows 7. After downloading the wireless drivers I am being told that the drivers may be out dated. I dont understand what the issue is as the did the exact same procedure as before.
Can anyone help me out please as the laptop is useless at the moment

Thanks for the reply, check the first thing i wrote, i explained it a bit, also check the screenshot. I think that could be the problem, but im not that good with laptops so im not sure.. "MSI suite" cant find my motherboard so the program wont execute..
edit: i've already tried the SCM that you linked, i get some errors with net framework so it wont execute after the setup..

  • MSI GE60 Windows 8 - Please Wait Problem

    Hello.
I've been an MSI Notebook GE60 user for around 4 months now.
I bought this laptop in Stockholm, Sweden in July and one day after purchase it has this problem. Every time I would turn on the PC from a shutdown, sleep or  hibernate and also if I locked the screen with win + L a "Please Wait" with a loading circle would appear for 30 minutes...until I could finally log back on. I turned the laptop into the store where I purchased it and after a couple of hours the tech guys checking it for problems. They told me that it was caused by hardware problems and not by ME. So...They took the laptop back in and told me that I could get my money back due to the law in Sweden. With that money I buy the same type of laptop. A MSI GE60.
Now it is August 28 of 2013 and Im having the same problem...THE SAME PROBLEM...
I am so pissed and angry at this point. I am furious with rage.
I buy a a very good and expensive laptop with money I have worked hard for and I GET THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN???  THIS IS totally unacceptable.
I live in South America, Argentina. And I go to school, this problem cannot continue. I cannot wait 30 minutes every time I open my pc from sleep mode. I cannot shut it down and open it up again (it works fine then, but i lose all my work etc..)
I have scanned the computer with sfc /scannow and also run all troubleshooting options.
Scanned for virus's. Possibly everything that can be done. HOWEVER, this problem goes away when I run in safe mode. What can this mean?
I'm seriously demanding a refund if this is a hardware problem from MSI once again. I'm really sad about this, this is a great laptop, but the same problem occuring twice...? Come on..
    Thanks for reading.
I hope someone gets in contact with me.

I tried both solutions. They did not fix the problem.
    Hi D..!
I am sorry to hear that.
You ran sfc and dism as administrator? And I take it that you have removed hibernation and use the fastest powerplan? Anything in the logs that point you in the right direction?
Since you bought the GE60 in Sweden you are covered by Swedish consumer laws that is even better than in my country Denmark, because you have at least 2 years of warranty! Use that and turn the nb in where you bought it!
This GE60 is my first computer that is not Asus and less than Win-8, and I am not an expert in MSI and Win-8. However there are some very clever and able people in this forum, so keep on pushing this item until you find the right solution!
    Hope you will succeed!

  • Windows freezes after seconders

After signing in windows will let me browse for30 seconds then it freezes up and only the mouse will move but I can't click on anything. Please help

    Hi @john-giarritta1 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion with Windows 8.1 freezing after logging in to it. Here is a link to resolving computer freezes.
    Did you install new software?
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.
I would be happy to assist if needed. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Please let me know.

  • Windows freezes after reinstall on p105-s6102

after reformatting drive and reinstalling XP on my p105-s6102 using the provided disk, Windows freezes at the blue motion line.  the reinstall indicated it was successful.  it does boot up ok in safe mode.  chkdsk seems ok too.  any ideas, anyone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media and still have a problem, it is not due to software.
If Windows works in Safe Mode, my best guess is that the video has failed, but that it still works using the display driver used in Safe Mode.
If that's the case, it should work when you boot with Enable VGA Mode.

  • The "Downloads Window" freezes after I open a file from it.

    Win7 system.
    I just upgraded from FF12 to FF14.01.
I discovered that I was able to open only one or two files from the Downloads Window, after which the window would stop working properly. Double-clicking a file did nothing beyond highlighting its entry. Right-clicking and using the contextual menu doesn't open it either. Shutting down and reloading FF doesn't improve the situation. Only rebooting seems to get me anywhere, then only for a file or two.
PS: downgrading to FF 13 didn't help. The folder acts the same way in v-13. It was working fine in v-12 earlier today.
Thanks in advance for any wisdom anyone can pass along ...

    in search bar, type "about:config"
Do this to see if it works.
    search for "scan"
double click the first one to turn off the scanning of files when done.
    "browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone"
    -- set to false.
I'm running microsoft security essentials so i think that's what was causing my freezes. Here's is how i fixed mine.
    Here's what i did :
Open microsoft security essentials and go to settings.
Under " Excluded Processes" .. browse for mozilla firefox in your program files and add it to the exclusion. --- click "add" then "save changes".
This somehow solved my problem... hopefully whoever reads this, this will also solve yours.

  • Windows freezes after startup

I have a 2008 IMAC originally running Loepard and bootcamp with XP home edition on bootcamp partition, all worked fine.  I upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything still worked fine.  Hard drive failed last week and was replaced by Apple with 10.6.6 OSX.  Restored OSX side with time machine and all worked perfectly.  Set up new boot camp partition with 20 gigs of space to reinstall XP. Installed XP SP2 with original disk, then used my Snow Leopard disk to install drivers as called for.  It says all installed correctly.  When windows starts up it opens fully, but the mouse and keyboard are frozen so I cannot do anything with it.  I have even reinserted the OSX disk to reinstall drivers to no avail.  I have also uninstalled the bootcamp partition and reinstalled the partition and XP several times with the same result.  Any thing else I should try?
    Thanks for your help

You could try "Safe Mode/Safe Mode with Network support?"  menu option available to you at startup (right after white screen in a Mac Pro)  by tapping F8 key on startup.
If drivers then work for kbd, mouse, I guess you could try update from some Bootcamp source. I've done this myself  when both were dead in Windows. Trying different mouse, keyboard is another option.

    Hello @nioart,
I understand that your computer freezes on startup no matter which operating system you are trying to install. I suspect that you have a hardware issue on your computer and would advise you to review and follow the steps contained within the HP Support document: Testing for Hardware Problems Using Hardware Diagnostic Tools (Windows Vista). As this document was created to test your hardare it should if followed provide you with the required information on what is wrong.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank ou for posting ont he HP Forums. Have  a great day!

  • MSI GE60, Windows 8: Windows Update stuck at 0KB downloaded and disk at 100%

So I'm having 2 problems with this laptop.
First my disk is most of the time at 100% active time which results in a lag and maybe it will damage the HDD. Here's a pic: http://i.imgur.com/c5tAx8N.png
On the other hand I think this problem is a common Windows 8 bug which can be solved just by updating, but turns out I can't. When I try to update this is what happens: http://i.imgur.com/qPB3HHm.png It says that it's downloading but it gets stuck at 0% and 0KB downloaded. I left it opened for more than an hour and it didn't download a thing. I've tried to run the troubleshooter and in repaired some problems and said something about problems downloading not fixed.
How can I solve this issue? I've tried resetting the laptop but the problem is there from the beginning.

I had the same problem also. I was updating the windows 8 thing and looked for a update and there it was. I accepted and I was stuck for like 15 minutes on 0kb download and my disk was on 100% and lagging ofc. after the 15mins it glitched to 98% done and downloaded like 150mb of crap. apparently if the disk is in use then the windows 8 is downloading the update but its just not showing up. wait a bit and see make sure you have a good connection or else it takes FOREVER. if you already had these disk problems, try to check if a regular windows defrag, maintaencne crap is running. these are automatic and only YOU can turn them off. I hate them and I make my own maintence and defrag.

  • Windows freeze after load-up.

    This is just a comment.
I have had this happen twice both after power failures where the system is told to stay shut down. Upon rebooting it seemed that my desktop was frozen, when in actuallity all i needed to do was unplug the usb mouse and replugg it back in to work. Dont know why, just thought id mention it in case someone has a similar problem.

That's interesting. Sometimes the BIOS doesn't recognize the key to enter the BIOS after a reboot. I wonder if they are related.

  • MSI GE60 freezes after RMA.

I have a MSI GE60 with i5-3210M and Geforce GT 650M, born with Windows 7, and I have had problems with it freezing, and requiring a manual restart, alomst since day 1.
The problem can occur almost anytime while using the Nvidia card both in games and while using 3D modelling software etc. I mainly encounter it in games though, and it seems to most often occur during cutscenes, loading screens and especially if I tab out of the game while playing. The screen image will simply freeze and the audio disappears. Most often the hard drive LED turns completely off, and the only way forward is to turn it off with the power button and reboot.
I figured it would be the GPU and applied for an RMA, which went through. The hard drive had also become quite slow, and the fan was noisier, which might be due to the countless hard resets. I just got it back today, and I was informed that they had replaced the hard drive, the fan, and the motherboard(which I  strongly assume includes CPU/GPU as well). It is much quieter and the hard drive gets better benchmarks too. However after having the laptop back for only a few hours i tested it with playing ArmA. I flew around in a chopper in the map editor for 3 minutes, and then i tabbed out of the game and back again, which led to the laptop freezing the same way as before the RMA.
I then figured that it could be a software problem, even though I have formatted quite a few times with the recovery partition. So I did a clean install and upgraded to Windows 8 in the progress, and lo and behold.. I started up ArmA again with the same outcome as last time.
So now I am left with 2 possible scenarios for what the error might be. It could either be the RAM, which is the only vital component that was not changed during the repair, although I have run 2 cycles of Memtest without any errors. Or it might simply be the type of motherboard in this laptop that is not up to the task of running computer games.
I would like to hear from other people who owns a GE60 with the same configuration, and whether they have had similar problems, or if I am just very unlucky. Because right now I am clueless as to what the problem is.

Maybe it might be the RAM anyways. I did a GPU stress test with with Furmark, where the temperature of the GPU seemed to be stable around 65-70 degrees. After ending the test though, the laptop froze almost immediately. An hour later i did a benchmark test in Hitman: Absolution and yet again the laptop froze right after ending the test.
After googling it, I stumbled across a few posts with the same issue being presented:
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267239-29-strange-computer-problem
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1796554/computer-crashes-close-game.html
One specifically mentions a RAM issue: "Sounds like RAM issue (after a game is closed the ram needs to be cleaned up, and if there is a problem there it might crash)."
I tried running memtest86 4.3.7 for 4 cycles without getting any errors, but I do suspect the RAM tbh. It seems too freaky that a new motherboard/GPU would generate the exact same problem as the one it replaced imo.

  • MSI GE60 freezes after closing games.

I have had my GE60 laptop for roughly ½ a year now.
Since day one I encountered some problems with it freezing while gaming but lately it has just spun out of control. Whenever I shut down a game there is roughly a 80% risc that the laptop will just freeze up within the next 5-20 seconds. The fan is not very loud but I can still hear it turning down a little around the time it freezes. It does not seem to matter which game I am playing, I have even encountered the problem after playing Minecraft. Often the  only way to avoid it is closing windows immediately after closing the game.
When it freezes the screen stays turned on, but the mouse, clock etc. freezes and the only way out is a hard reset. About 90% of the time the hard drive indicator LED also stops flashing, and if i press Caps Lock there is no indicator for it either. Most of the physical buttons for WiFi, fan acceleration etc. works though.
I suspected video drivers to be the problem but updating them has been to no avail, so any other suggestion would be much appreciated.

    It is Windows 7
no recovery cd? btw you can contact msi for recovery cd. otherwise if you have the windows serial key under your nb then you can just download windows 7 installation image from microsoft website and burn a cd with it to reformat your nb. if you do not have windows serial key under you nb then the serial key must be put into the bios and in this case proceed as same as the previous sentence. download and burn cd , reformat.

  • MSI Z68A-GD80 Freezes up @ 'Starting Windows' screen.

MSI Z68A-GD80 (oc genie off, with corsair h60 cpu cooler, around 46 degrees celcius, as it reads in the bios. reset the cmos many times, tried a different cmos battery, also flashed to the newest BIOS version. )
    8GB DDR3 g.Skill turbulence 2200mhz RAM (tried with 1 stick in DIMM 1 slot @1333 @1.6v, ect)
GTX480 x 2 (tried with and without a video card, tried on board via dvi, same result)
i7 2600k default values across the board
    OCZ MX 1250W PSU
Tried with no HDD even, when installing windows, would get to the Starting Windows screen and freeze, or give me a BSOD: IRQL IS NOT LESS OR EQUAL TO
But I have also tried with hard drives, 120gb revodrive, 64gb ssd from corsair, and 640gb 6gb/s from western digital.
Everything I have tested on a different system working, including the processor. Am I missing something? The RAM might not be compatible? I unfortulately do not have another stick to test on the mobo.
Edit: Also, tried with both 32 bit and 64 bit w7 disks.

Have you try with a fresh formatted drive ?
If I was you I will take the WD 640 put it on another build and delete the partions and reformat  ntfs
When you install Windows on an old drive , it will look at the existing OS on it ,to  know if you can upgrade,  if the install detect an install who was made on ACHI ( a ssd as example) and your BIOS is set to IDE, I wonder if it will not create the problem you have as the install thing you are on ACHI when you are not.
I tried it with no hard drive at all. Booted from disk, and before the installation got to the point where it needed a hard drive, it froze up on the 'Starting Windows' screen after loading windows setup files.
