MSI GE620 058 Battlefield 3 random FPS laggs

Hello,
Last year I bought the MSI GE620 058 Gaming laptop,
Specs:
CPU i5 2410M
GPU GT540M
RAM 8GB
I game alot on this laptop but everytime I play Battlefield 3 I get fps laggs, while the auto settings suggest mid - high, I can play with a decent fps for like 15 - 30 seconds but after that I get like 10 - 15 seconds huge fps lagg, It's not playable anymore. Even if I use the lowest settings it's still the same, offcourse i'm not gaming on the battery. Normal FPS: 40-50 FPS lagg: 10-20
I have changed the energy settings but nothing works, I hope that there is a solution to this problem because it's no fun.
Thanks in advance,
Jordi

Oh I think I found it!

  • MSi GE620 058 DVD Eject button problem

    Hello,
I recently got this awesome MSi Notebook, the GE620 058, not the i7 one. Everything works fine exept the eject button for the dvd/cd drive.
I have to do alot of installing games and programs so it would be much faster to use the button instead of the ''eject drive option'' and i got the S-Bar program installed and running.
Can you guys help me with this please?

  • Msi ge620 instability/won't turn on

    Hello,
here's my story and i hope someone can help me out!! because ITS VERY COMPLICATED! and i cannot diagnose the main issue!!!!!
i have been having an issue with my msi ge620 for almost 3 months now, at first i thought it was a heat problem ,and then i started to believe its an electrical issue .and now i think its the motherboard dead or dying .. but sometimes my notebooks turns on and can work normal and get into games but might turn off after 10 min or 1 hour gameplay despite that the heat doesnot pass 85C , but usually in winter is less than that
my current warranty is invalid and 2 years already passed this summer, because i bought this notebook from kuwait , and i am currently in egypt, i couldnot send it back to msi for maintenance via shipment in order to check the issue,
because firstly i dont know how exactly to send it back there or to europe etc..
and secondly cairo is not a safe place to do so..or to search etc and to ask around despite that i asked most technician or electronic shops and i am not certain if there is msi in egypt !? ,, and i dont want to handle my laptop to a technician here because i had alot of problems with them and especially stolen hardware or replacement of hardwares without notifying me .. and especially with gaming consoles..
and thirdly i couldnt travel back earlier this year because of university etc,, anyways it doesnt matter because i already opened the notebook so i thought of seeking help here from experienced people.
this whole issue started when i was playing guildwars 2 suddenly during the game my pc shuts down, so i realized it was a heat problem and then
i did some googling early that month and believed it was really a heat problem especially that i could see dust inside the fan and couldnt reach it with my electronic vacuum and was worried about the warranty if i opened it but latter that month i realized i couldnt send it back or travel etc.. so i have opened it and  started cleaning it and of course it was full of dust, and i did it by carefully watching videos and reading guides etc,,, and i am certain i did it correctly it worked perfectly afterwards with no issue at all FOR ANOTHER MONTH~! and also to note that i used to open my old desktop and replace parts or cleaning it but never did it before with laptops
and that made me realize it was a heat problem
and then later that month the issue reappeared so i went to clean it back again and it worked fine but afterwards it reappeared AGAIN and started to shut down! but this time when i opened it , it had no dust at all! so i gave it a rest, and i realized my pc was shutting down only after 6-8 hours of gameplay! and i have to mention its hot here , but i usually play with my home fan on or with my air conditioner on to cool the room
so i started giving it rest each 2 hours, and then one day it stopped responding and it wont turn on and i knew this would happen sooner or later..., so i didnt use it for a while maybe 3 days or so ,
and the next day it started again after holding shut down button for 30 second!!! i was really starting to get angry, so i did google search and i found that some guy had the same issue as me and when he replaced his electrical cable cord it worked normal, so i started to check how i can order from outside for replacement particularly from usa.. and i found a company called avadvancemax and rakkuten and also amazon that has a replacement for my discontinued msi product but the problem it kinda takes over a 1 month for the order to appear in egypt and i am certain that it will take longer with whats happening in the streets, so for the last two weeks it appeared that i cannot order from outside for certain issues , so i started to try to repair it until i can place my order for replacement,
this is what i have tried so far and it kinda worked out well but for a while only
hold power button for 30 seconds. and this brought my notebook back to life
remove power plug for 1minute  then try again
remove li-on battery for 1 minute then put it back in
start the notebook by battery and then put the plug in and it worked
play with battery only or use laptop with battery only and recharge with cable cord
and this made me believe it was electrical problem , especially that my plug looks like one from UK  which is usually used in kuwait and i convert it to european standard plug which is used in egypt
BUT! it only works for my notebook if i want to use the internet or watch videos etc,,, IF i decided to play a game such as the last remnant it shuts down, but if i play a very old game like final fantasy vii it works without shutting down .
and yesterday i played the game such as last remnant for almost 45 minute to 1 and half hour in very high graphics despite that its 2009 game and then it shuts down ,
i also bought a cooling pad just recently and started using it whenver i used the notebook , and notebook fan inside is working perfectly
and i also thought of replacing thermal paste but i am not sure if that will help since it wont turn on , and i am not sure if formating the pc would help, since it usually starts and shuts down on windows logo but now it wont turn on at all
and what made me post this today after all this experimenting and instability etc.... ,
    is because;
today i tried to start my notebook from the battery and it wont start all and neither from the main cord plug
and when it starts its shuts down very quickly less than seconds,, it used to happen before but usually it would start if i used the battery only!
and now when my battery is plugged in , and the cablecord is also plugged it , it seems that the battery is charging ...
i am really sorry for the long post but anyways as you can see its really weird and complicated issues, and i never overclocked it but i usually play in high graphics etc.. and maybe it consumed too much power from nvidia perhaps ? i usually use it for maximum graphics and sometimes i use it for high performance only
i cant specify my notebook nor  i can get dxdiag because my pc wont turn on but this is my notebook copied  from  msi website

    *** note:
the same issue happened to my xbox 360 and it completed wont turn on and the issue by then was the cable cord , and then it worked out well after i replaced it and afterward my xbox 360 died... despite the new cable cord
and another note is that here in egypt and especially before the military coup that happened, usually the electricity here turns off suddenly and it really made me worried that it caused both my pc and xbox to fuse .. because they both faced the same issue..
and i never had this kind of issue in my 10 years old desktop in kuwait which is really making me believe its electricity issue
    or maybe motherboard died..
    and thank you in advance!

that hapends if you use battery only?
or its doing the same if you leave ac charger only?

  • T410s Major Fps Lagg Issue

Hello, I have owned my Lenovo T410s for almost 18 months now.  Since the moment that I bought this laptop, it has had major FPS lagg problems while running ANY (even small and old) games.
    These are the Specs:
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU       M 560 @ 2.67GHz
    RAM: 4GB
    64 bit operating system
Basically, when i open any game whatsoever (even browser based java games), and run the game for less than 1-2 minutes, the FPS goes from 50 fps to 1.2-1.5fps (no joke).  It stays like this for 30 seconds, before being back to 50fps, but the process repeats every few minutes.  I have never been able to solve this problem, and look to this forum for help!
Some other information:  When this 'fps lagg' occurs, the CPU jumps from a constant 20-30% to 100% immediately.  The laptop also becomes extremely hot, and it will burn you if you touch it for too long.  It happens from games such as Counter Strike 1.6 to Skyrim, no matter what game I play, it doesnt work!
I have tried to do extensive research in order to find out why it doesnt work, but I have come up empty handed.  I think that the graphics card which I have is NVIDIA NVS 3100M, and it also has Intel(R) HD Graphics above it in the list (sorry i am not very good at computers!)
Edit: I have searched through these forums, and found the following threads which people have posted all with the same problem:

Any help to solve this problem will be muchly appreciated, thank you all

  • MSI GE620 can't boot to windows after installing CoreCenter 2.0.6.8

I have made a very huge mistake by installing an overclocking software without knowing anything about overclocking :(
Here is what I have done
    - I installed CoreCenter version 2.0.6.8, after the installation finished it ask me to reboot the system, so I reboot.
    - First my system won't shutdown it tell be that S-Bar (an toolbar that come with my GE 620 laptop) prevent me from shutdown, so I hit force shutdown. Then the system started to shutdown but it stuck at windows logo (Shutting down screen) so I hold down the power button to force turn off
    - Windows gives me an option to boot into safe mode (because I hold down the power button and it is unexpected shutdown), I hit start Windows normally
    - It goes into a Windows logo screen like normal, but it won't boot. It's just stuck at the Windows logo screen. At this time I tell myself "OMG what I have done!???"
    - I try most option in a boot option (not sure what it called, it's a menu brings up when you press F8). I tried boot into safe mode, safe mode with cmd (both stuck at loading disk.sys), repair system, enable low res (640x480), last known good config, Directory service restore mode and debugging mode. None of them are able to boot.
    - I grab a Windows 7 Ultimate repair disc that I have created long time ago. And.... "Oh no! It even cannot boot into a repair disc!"
    - I give a Hiren's BootCD 15.2 a try. I boot Mini XP from that disc and..... It can't even boot XP from the CD.
    - Ok Ok, maybe it mess something with BIOS setting, I press DEL into a BIOS setting (I believed) and hit restore all setting to default. Unfortunately, my system still won't boot.
Any idea of how I can uninstall this CoreCenter or any clues that what it have done to my system?
The only thing I know for now is just re-installing Windows, but I need to backup some data in C:/ first. I think I can install windows without formatting and backup some data and re-install it with format.
    My system information
MSI GE620 laptop (All of hardware is stock, I didn't change anything. Just install extra 4 GB of RAM)
    CPU: Core i7 2630QM
    GPU: nVidia GeForce GT 540M / 1 GB DDR3
    RAM: 8 GB
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Update: I can't even boot from a Windows 7 installation disc!! *cry*

Having not yet installed Developer 6 on my own system, (still running most recent 200 version), I can't be exactly sure. However your problem sounds a lot like the problem I encountered in trying to get my Dev 2000 install to connect.
Here are some things to check:
    Is your listener running?
Is your listener properly configured to look for your host machine?
Look in the Oracle Net 8 Assitant utility and see how many listeners have been established. This is where my problem existed. I had 2 listeners. One was trying to connect to my loop back address (127.0.0.1) and could not. The other was properly configured for my host address but would not run because of the failure of the other. Once I removed the listener the was using the loop back address things began to work.
Make sure you have the appropriate alias set up through SQL Net Easy Config and/or Net8 Config.
Thats all I can think of for now.
Hope something I said will help.

  • MSI GE620 fan replacement

    Hey
Before my warranty expired my computer was heating up and I asked at the store where I bought the PC if I could open up the computer in order to clean for dust. They said it was no problem, so i opened it and fixed it. A few months later after my warranty expired the laptop started making alot of noises and now it is activating at full capacity for a few seconds, followed by shutting down for a few seconds... this continues forever and is unbearable to listen to.
I want to replace the fan in my msi ge620.
Here is what I can find for specifics on it.
    Forcecon sz
    Brushless Motor
    F98D
    DC 5V      0,4A
    DFS451205M10T
    030111D
Please help me, as I can not use my laptop at lectures or study, due to the noise its making
    Thanks in advance

Doesn't sound like just a fan update is needed. You could check ebay for components from cannibalized notebooks. MSI doesn't sell spare parts separately.

  • Random FPS drops when scrolling

At random intervals the scrolling becomes very choppy. If I press the MMB (to use the autoscroll) it goes back to normal for a minute or so and then becomes very choppy again. It's really annoying using the autoscroll every 30s-1m just to fix the choppiness.
I tried resetting FF and reinstalling it but even a fresh installation (with no plugins and addons installed) has this problem. Tried creating a new profile which fixed it for 1-2 days but then the random FPS drops occur again. The problem exists with or without hardware acceleration. All my drivers are up to date.
Any ideas? I love Firefox but this problem is so annoying I am seriously considering moving to Chrome...

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).
You can also try to increase the value of the browser.sessionstore.interval pref on the <b>about:config</b> page.

  • MSI R9 290X Lightning hardfreezing randomly

    Hello again everyone
As I've said in my first post requesting the new VBIOS that fixes the fan issues, I have recently gotten an MSI R9 290X Lightning.
I have had these problems since day 1, but I figured the new BIOS might help so I didn't mention them in my first post.
The problem is, after the installation of the card (i have not done any other hardware upgrades recently, the last upgrade i did was a year and a half ago with upgrading my PSU.) it started hardfreezing. I could only reboot the computer once it hardfroze, I could not move my mouse or do anything else. From what I have read from the one post that has pretty much exactly my symptoms ( www[dot]superuser[dot]com/questions/781673/random-hard-freezes-started-happening-after-installing-a-new-graphics-card ) is that apparently it is an incompatibility with the 700 and 800 series AMD chipsets. I would like some more confirmation though, as I have not found other sources saying that. It is still a relatively new card so the chances of someone using it on a not-so-recent mobo aren't big, so maybe that's why. Anyway, here are my specs:
    CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1050t @ 3.5 OR recently @ 2.8 (default) GHz
    Mobo: ASRock 890GX Extreme 3
    Memory: Kingston 4GB (x4) KHX1600C9D3/4GX
    GPU: MSI R9 290X Lightning
    HDD: WD Green 1TB
    OS: Windows 7 64bit
    PSU: Thermaltake SMART M850W
This PC NEVER hardfroze before, and the only recent upgrade is the GPU. I have also done some other attempts:
    1) Switched from Normal to LN2. No change.
    2) Changed drivers. No change.
    3) Changed bios AND drivers (since fans work then). No change.
    4) Made sure the card is not overheating (it never crashes while playing a graphically intensive game anyway, it's ALWAYS on the desktop and/or in not so demanding games)
    5) According to that post, I tried overclocking (and overvolting) it, while in both Original and LN2 with the additional 6 pin plugged in. While it did last a long time, it just crashed 5 minutes into booting windows earlier, so I can't say for sure. It is somewhat random when it crashes.
    6) Used a system restore point to see if it might have been a software change. No change either.
One miscelaneous note: While it was on Original bios, it ALWAYS froze when launching Afterburner. I can confirm this as it froze 4 times exactly when Afterburner was started.
This is just about the most peculiar PC issue I've ever had so I really have no idea what else to do. I also ran a memory test, everything checked out fine.
Also, as I have said. It ALWAYS crashes on light load, no load (desktop) or when firing up Afterburner on Original bios. I ran a burn test 8 hours yesterday, and it did not crash. Then, 2 minutes after the test, it crashed while I was watching youtube. I can't seem to pinpoint the cause because, as I said, sometimes it crashes 10 minutes after the reboot (I am having to type this twice because of that...) or it can crash a day after reboot.
So, start with the suggestions guys!

Are all three power connectors of the Lightning connected?

  • MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II Random Crashes

    Hello,
I have had an MSI R6870 Twin Frozr II video card for the past year, and it has been operating without problems for most of that time. I have been slowly upgrading my computer over past 5 years, but keeping the same motherboard and CPU. A few months ago I started having issues with it:
While playing video games or browsing the internet the video drivers crash and recover after a few seconds at random times, approximately once every half an hour. 30% of the time, the card crashes and doesn't recover at all, with a black screen, prompting a restart of the system.
Last month I have rebuilt my PC: kept the same the video card, 750W power supply (both 1 year old) and all my hard drives. I reinstalled the same version of Windows 7. I made sure to take precautions against static in the process. However the problem persists.
Because I have my power button set to a restart, I am able to have the computer perform a soft reboot every time when the screen goes black, rather than forcing a hard reset, so to me this means the new CPU, Motherboard and RAM are working OK. Also on occasion switching my monitor cable between the two DVI outputs brings the image back.
Here are some of the other things I have tried so far unsuccessfully:
Updating the motherboard and bios drivers to the latest version
Using a tool to delete and reinstall latest ATI drivers (12.9)
    Using ATI beta drivers (12.11b)
Using both windows and 3rd party memory check tools (both came back OK)
Changing RAM settings from 1600 to 1333.
Underclocking the video card (although it runs pretty cold and I have a dedicated fan installed right underneath it).
I will welcome any other suggestions.
    Thank you in advance,

Here is an update on my situation:
I went out a bought a new PSU, Antec HCG-620M, but the problem didn't go away. I'm still trying to keep up with the latest drivers. However most games that require high performance (i.e. Witcher 2 out of the older, more stable games) remain unplayable due to fairly regular random video card crashes. Older games with lower specs play fine though. I have also been running SpeedFan in the background and have seen an occasional spikes in the video card's operating temperatures (as high as 81C) but crashes occur at any temperature.
    Help would still be appreciated.
    Thanks,

....So, I don't know if this is the right place to post this but. I am going crazy here  . I own a GE620 . • MSi GTX 660 2GD5/OC randomly stops outputting video.

While playing Star Trek Online and Champions Online, this graphics card will randomly stop outputting video with no warning. It has also crashed Windows completely on three of these occasions. The card never recovers and the only way to fix it is a hard reset. This problem has persisted over five different iterations of nVidia's drivers, both beta and WHQL.
I've already sent this card in for service to correct this problem and, upon receiving it from MSi's service center yesterday, encountered the same problem again in both games. Both times I installed it into my P67A-GD65 motherboard, I made sure the video drivers from my previous dedicated GPU and integrated HD 4000 were completely uninstalled via Control Panel and Guru3D's Driver Sweeper program.
Is there anyone here who's had similar experiences and can offer some troubleshooting advice? I've already edited my Windows 7 registry to manually adjust the frame time out and recovery period, to no effect.

List full system specifications, see >>Posting Guide<<
2 cards to crash by the same way, probably is not video card problem but something else in your PC
Power Supply: Kingwin Maximum Power ABD-850MM 850W
    Motherboard: MSi P67A-GD65 LGA1155
    Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K @ 3.5 GHz
    RAM: Corsair 4 GB DDR3 @ 1600 MHz
I highly doubt it was my system, because I had a PowerColor AMD Radeon HD 7850 in the same PCI-e slot that worked flawlessly at maximum clock. The MSi GTX 660 crashed in both PCI-e slots at factory stock speeds.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-3006tx Random FPS Drops

Well, I just recently bought the laptop about a week ago. At first when I play games on it, it would run perfectly. But recently I have noticed that games have dropped in FPS incredibly. Unplayable actually.
But then at random times, it would begin to work again fine. While testing I have no additional programs open, so its not because of anything else hogging up memory and this happens to all games.
Also the laptop is always set to "High Performance GPU".
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have the same problem, sometimes when I play games (used to play WoW) my fps drops dramatically especially on boss encounters in 25 mans. The suggested solution makes sense bcuz @ one point my fan used to have a drilling sound (not anymore it just stopped by itself), but when I play any game the fan sounds as if it's about to start then it calms down, and this cycle continues while the game is online, all the while, the fps plummets then restores for 1 or 2 sec before falling again.
Initially I never had any problems with my laptop, not even when playing hardcore games like WoW. the fps was smooth and I would spend countless hours without having a single problem. Unfortunately, I spilled water on my laptop, and had to replace the motherboard and keyboard, and so I did. However, when I got the laptop back it seems the performance is severly lacking than the power I had when I bought the computer (and then used for 2 years before the accident). I am almost sure, that the maintenance was not performed properly, seems those indians f****ed something up (which I believe based on ur feedback is the fan.) The other reason I believe that there was malpractice, bcuz when I was there reporting my problem there was another dissatisfied consumer, who was having problems with his Hp Laptop, he was complaining that his system was not working properly either *surprise surprise*.
Anyway, I will check my fan and repost on this thread.
    Thx

  • Random FPS drop in all games

I'm running the June 13inch MBP with a 2.53GHz processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 250GB HD. At random times while playing games my FPS will drop down significantly, and seems almost capped. Sometimes it then drops further, or will go back to normal. An example would be World Of Warcraft, where I will be idle at 60fps, and without any movement or activity the framerate will then drop down to 30fps, and will not go lower than 28 or higher than 32. I activity monitor shows no abnormalities. The worrying thing is this also happens on windows 7 in bootcamp, on games such as call of duty 4, making it most probably a hardware fault. I'm pretty sure its nothing to do with overheating as it often happens while the computer still feels relatively cool. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well I've found a few possibilities, but I haven't found a fix yet. I think it must be related to the temperature after all, as it seems to slow down when it reaches about 85C+. I've read some stuff about 'nvidia powermizer' that seems to fit the problems we're having, but after searching I can't find it on my computer. I'll keep you updated if I get any results.
