MSI GE620DX Driver Updates

Hi MSI community.
I purchased my first ever MSI product today, a MSI GE620DX laptop. And I'm very proud
Now, which drivers is needed to upgrade to get this machine as fit as possible to date?
I've been readig about BIOS updates thats very important and GPU drivers aswell.
As is turns out now, the software "SpeedFan" is telling me(while only running Internet Browser) that the CPU runs at 60C,Core 0/1 at 67C. But the laptop itself doesnt feel that hot. I need to upgrade some drivers but I'm very unsure about which ones and how.
Hope anyone can give me a short feedback or maybe some links to guide me properly and safe.
Greetings
PineappleThief

I had the same problems with the temps, and they are correct. I've tried alot of apps to check the temp, and they are all showing the same. Those high temps also gave me huge fps drops while playing.
What I did to solve this:
I turned off Intel SpeedStep in BIOS. Just set it to Disable instead of Enable.
The only problem with this function off, is that the TurboBoost function dosent seem to work. So you might loose some performance, but nothing ive noticed so far.
This made my laptop 10-12C cooler, and my GPU never goes above 80 while playing.
I'm atm playing SWTOR, some hours/day and I've not noticed any fps drops or extreme high temps.
Yours,
Blix

  • MSI GF4TI4200 Driver Update

I am using nvidia 2942 driver with the subject video card on my P4/WXP home PC. I do not have a monitor and use TV set for that function. I do not have any problem.
Would you recommend that I update from 2942 to 4523 driver to improve performance and or image quality without loss of stability?

Rob, thank you. I will then keep the 2942 drivers and not upgrade to 4523, unless somebody can convince me that there is a good reason to do it and that it can be done witout a monitor.

  • MSI Geforce 3 Ti200 Driver Updates for ME

Why can't the drivers be updated past 44.03 in Windows ME?

I run all my games on WME so that I have more RAM available for the game (XP is memory hog) and because my flight control setup (CH Force FX {14 programmable buttons}, CH Pro Throttle {20 programmable buttons}, CH Pedals) is not recognized in WXP.
I received HALO as a birthday gift. It loaded fine. I ran it and it continually locked up at the main menu screen of the game. The Audio part of the game continued to advance, but the video got stuck. My wife loaded the game and tried to run it and got the same results, she has only WXP for an OS on an MSI K7T 266 Pro 2 RU motherboard. She upgraded her MSI Geforce3 Ti-200 TD Pro drivers from MSI 44.03 to NVIDIA 52.16 and HALO then ran flawlessly.
MSI has upgraded drivers 45.32 and Nvidia has upgraded drivers 45.23. Both of these drivers locked up my machine each and everytime I installed them. My machine runs the NVIDIA 56.12 drivers without any problem on Windows XP PRO. I had to uninstall the MSI 45.32 and/or NVIDIA 45.23 drivers and reload the MSI 44.03 drivers to get WME to boot up. HALO will not run on the 44.03 drivers. One of the techs from microsoft called me at home the last two nights in a row to try and resolve this issue. Conclusion at end of night one was updated video drivers needed to be installed. Conclusion at end of night two was that there was a hardware problem with the the conclusion that video card was not accepting drivers above 44.03 for the Windows Millenium Edition Operating System. There was no listing at either NVIDIA or MSI video driver site for any drivers beyond 44.03 other than NVIDIA 45.23 or MSI 45.32 respectively.
The burning question is this: As with some of the previous NVIDIA drivers are the new releases compatible with all of the operating systems? I ask this because looking in the NVIDIA 52.16 drivers folder that gets extracted I see references in the read me file to W98,W98SE,WME. Why does the MSI Geforce 3 Ti-200 card accept the NVIDIA 52.16 drivers with WXP PRO and not the NVIDIA 45.23 not the MSI 45.32 drivers with WME (and I assume W98 & W98SE?)
    Interested in the response.
    Thanks.

Judging from the problems I and several other people on the forum have mentioned, there seems to be a problem with the nVidia 45.23 drivers and video. I get a grey screen with vids unless i turn down the hardware accel to almost nothing. Other people can get vid to show on their tv out. So if you havn't tried an older driver version yet, maybe you could use the good old xp driver rollback in the video device properties.

  • MSI 76.45 driver update for 6 series cards?

After checking the MSI site for updated drivers, it looks like the 7645's are the latest for the 6 series cards. Yet, in the readme file under compatible cards for this driver version, there are no 6 series cards listed. What's up with that?
I was just wondering if MSI has something wrong here. Is this, in fact, the latest driver for the 6600GT??
(My apologies if this subject was already covered)

    Clark,
Just go to nVidia for your nVidia Drivers
Depending on who wrote the readme file, you're right, there could be something wrong, and it's just a readme. Nvidia usually claims all drivers are backwards compatable, however, as you may know, nVidia's drivers correspond with the genre of card currently on the market, ie GF4=4X.XX GF5 (FX)=5X.XX GF6=6X.XX and so on, so nVidia currently focuses on optimizations for the current card on the market and sometimes support suffers for older cards. Having said ALL that, more times than I care to count, MSI seems behind the times, this is the norm, as documentation and consistency is not a strong point on any the website, hence my recommendation to go directly to nVidia. If it is the latest and greatest from MSI that you want becasue of the DOT feature, then I believe that is the latest from MSI.
Now I'm wondering how you are looking for drivers. Are you looking for drivers via the MSI Live Update Utility, or on the Taiwan website? In any case whatever is there from MSI is there. It you want the latest and greatest then you can take your chances and start expirimenting with the latest from nVidia ftp://download.nvidia.com/windows The whole shebang is there for your convenience.
Finally, if everything is working fine, then there should be no reason to update. Recomendations to keep your system loaded with all the latest drivers is not always the best advice...
    Does that help?

  • MSI GE620DX not working touchapd and bluetooth

    good day
I have a question on my MSI

I did UPDATE BIOS to version E16G5IMS.10R (build 24.10.2012)
I tried a firmware update but I could not do this while.
I think the problem is in Windows or in BIOS, or is it due to the fact that there is another version of the motherboard?

I installed Windows 7 64 bit Bluetooth works. The touchpad does not work ... does not work with Windows installation and does not constitute key for the touchpad that are on the motherboard ... I have installed the driver MSI SUPPORT still nothing ...

  • Msi ge620dx for next gen titles...

Hi.. just wanna ask what can you say about msi ge620dx with gt555m for upcoming titles like watch dogs, dragon age 3, witcher 3.. and other games next year... i still loving this laptop and just wanna know any tips on improving fps for next gen titles..

i guess the best way is to check if there is any VGA driver update, this alwys helpful for titles performace optimizing.
but Witcher series... as I tried before this is pretty performance demanding titles and you might need higher Gfx or compromising on lower quality setting

  • Can I install an SSD into my MSI GE620DX laptop?

Can I install an SSD into my MSI GE620DX laptop?
Couldnt find any information on the site or the manual about that, Im thinking of ordering an SSD but I dunno if I can put whatever type of SSD in there.
The 128gb SSDs in sweden are just in my price-range right now and it would be reeeally nice to check out how fast this thing can run... :D.
    My laptop is the i5-2410m-version.
Reason I wanna upgrade to SSD is obviously because of improved performance but also that I can probably turn the current built-in HDD into an external device maybe? I am setting up my laptop for music production and I just want a fast SSD for windows, software. Other HDDs for recording audio, having projects on them and so forth.
The HDD in mine is the 500gb/7200RPM one, I hope I can turn it into an external somehow(read that you can somewhere and I assume most drives can be turned into external HDDs???)

Shouldn't be any problem. You can replace the 2.5" HDD of your notebook with any 2.5" SSD. Be aware that you need to reinstall Windows unless you have a software to clone the current on the SSD.
With an external USB hdd case you can use the HDD as an external drive. However if you erase the current partitions you will loose the possibility of using the F3 recovery with the HDD reinstalled if the Windows on the SSD gets destroyed by a virus or similar problems.

  • BIOS & Driver updates

I am having some gaming issues and it has been suggested that I check my motherboard BIOS and Drivers for updates.  I have a KM3M-V board.  I have run the MSI LiveUpdate program and it tells me that there are BIOS and Driver updates available.  However, I read Dr. Stu's sticky about flashing the BIOS and it has me a bit worried.  How can I tell what a version does (I see the description but I don't totally understand it) and if it will really help or not?  I am terrified of something going wrong and messing up my computer.

The issue I am having is with RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 w/Wet and Wild Expansion Packs.  Specifically the issues are since the second expansion (wild).  Initially there were a couple of issues, but updates to my memory, video and sound cards has greatly improved the speed and fps issues.  The remaining issue is that the game just suddenly exits itself in the middle of play.  More info, including a current dxdiag file, can be found here:  http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508104 and here http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508301.

  • MSI GE620DX overheating upon startup need help!

my msi ge suddenly overheats upon startup, no apps or games opened and still the nvidia processor is enabled, meaning the red led indicator on power button is enabled instead of blue... any help???   the cpu is overheating even if no apps or whatsoever, just upon startup, i already updated the bios which is the latest, 10R....

    Quote from: najiro;1251
What's the idle temperature anyway? So here's the thing about nvidia laptop gpus. they have the "Optimus Technology".. basically it enables your system to switch from integrated to the discrete depending on use.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_technology.html
this might be a noob question but are you certain you installed the laptop gpu version of the drivers? they are different from desktop drivers. I think something's also wrong with your registry.. a malware perhaps since it sounds like the optimus technology thing is not working properly. Have you tried system restore?
yes i restored my laptop already, i did almost every possible tweaks, like updating my bios,
i also used the msi gpu driver only, but still problem persist. the only thing that fixes it is by opening task manager, which switches the gpu to integrated. meaning it works properly with task manager on. is it weird right? any help?

  • Framedropping in games [MSI-GE620DX] [FIX!?]

    Hi,
Ive got a new MSI GE620DX-488NE Laptop since this monday.
I have been playing battlefield 3 sometimes on this computer, mostly I play on my sationary computer though.
If im looking here at the forum I can see more people like me thats having the same issues as me when it comes to MASSIVE framedropps down to 15fps, and after some time it goes back to a normal 45+ again.
I did notice a big difference when I flashed the latest bios from msi's homepage, and after that I flashed the latest EC firmware too.
I did get better performance in windows performance check, but I also didnt notice the big suddenly framedrops as often. But I noticed them sometimes, and I wanted them to go away for good.
I tried to go in to the bios options when I start the computer, as we all know we can't do too much settings there. But I saw Intel Speedstep enabled, I just unabled it and now I havent noticed the big annoying framedrops since!
Sorry for the bad grammar and spelling, but Im tired and from Sweden. To lazy to care hehe,
    Hope this helps,
Come back and write if this also works for u =)
    Have a nice weekend,
    David

    Hey,
I got the very same laptop as you do and i need to ask few things:
Why when i play games like minecraft, hl2 or css my laptop runs pretty hot. i checked with core temp software and it says my cpu is 10 or even 2 celcius from the max 100. And when i update my bios do I have to do it like this? http://www.msi.com/html/pdf/How_to_make_a_bootable_flash_disk_and_to_flash_BIOS_f.pdf
    that looks terribly long procedure
Im asking this because it says like this:
    1) a. To know about how to update BIOS under DOS mode, please click here.
        b. To know about how to update BIOS under windows 7, please click here. (Only for CR640 / CX640 / CX640MX / CX480)
    2) Please execute "flash.bat" file after unpack the compressed file for upgrade BIOS.
only for cr and cx models? so i cant use it for my ge620dx??

  • USB 3.0 Driver updated and corrupted .

Hi, I am using many of your products on my computer and i just updated the USB 3.0 drivers with the MSI update utility . I had 2 updates and one of them worked and the driver update didnt . I then tried to install it again . I saw that nothing happened so i restarted my computer to try again. I restarted my computer and my keyboard and mouse don't work . So i cant login to reinstall or do anything on my computer. I tried pushing the F8 key and also F2 key on boot. The mouse and keyboard are working fine there . Its only when i start windows and want to login.
Help would be much appreciated. PS i probably dont have a restore point but i'll look into that. ( if i could get directions for using that restore point it would be much appreciated to ).

No need to make 2 identical threads.

  • HP Laserjet 1200 and Driver Updates

On the "Download Drivers and Software" support page for the HP Laserjet 1200 printer, there is an option, "Automatically check to see if your driver needs updating".
A machine that I am supporting is having a MS Word collating issue (sometimes works, sometimes doesn't) and I don't know if its a driver issue or not.  The machine is XP SP3.
If I click on this link, obviously it will check the drivers, but:
    1) Will it give me the option to automatically update the drivers if it finds they are outdated, and
    2) How do I roll back to the old driver if the update introduces problems?
Since this potential driver update isn't going through the normal MS XP driver update routine in Device Manager, I'm leery that I won't be able to recover if something goes wrong.

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
