MSI GE70 Problem

I recently bought the 17.3 MSI GE70.
It works fantastic and runs League of Legends very smoothly- even on high settings.
A problem that keeps coming back though is random ping spikes.
I confirmed it wasn't my connection, because I went to a friends house and two of them were playing the same game as I (on same teams even), and they experienced no ping spikes and they have much worse laptops and I.
I went house to confirm it wasn't just there internet, and it wasn't. It happens on my internet as well.
Is there some sort of background application that takes up wifi while gaming? :o
Is is there like some option I can choose to put all resources to League of Legends when playing?

  • MSI GE70 Problem with updating new VGA driver

    Hi all,
I just recently purchase a new MSI GE70-2OE and with my minimal understanding of notebooks, I thought it would function as normal as desktop, so I just removed the old Nvidia driver (311.xx or something) to replace with a newer version. However I constantly have this error, despite the version that I've downloaded, whether on Nvidia site or MSI download center: "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware".
My VGA is GTX 765m. Now when I check the Device Manager, I can only find the Intel HD 4600 onboard VGA and cannot find the GTX765m under the Device Manager.
    Please help...

By what you are saying I believe you are on win 8 x64 OS, here is the link to yours graphic card driver (if you have different OS, find the one you need) http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/70187/en-us
    Try installing it
However I do not know how to explain why you cant find your card in device manager. Did try different software to find out is the card visible or not?(everest, cpuid etc..)
I had some bad experience with this myself, and I was in very similar situation like you, it kept saying that the driver is not compatible nevermind which driver I got. So what I did was, downloading the most recent drivers, unistall old ones manually and install new ones.

  • MSI GE70 2OE-029CZ Start-up problems, please help

Hello guys. My name is Mike and I need some help from you. Half year back I bought notebook MSI GE70 2OE-029CZ from Czech Republic and it wont boot up now. I used this notebook normally without problems until now. Four days back I finished my work and turned notebook off. Next day, after I came back home, I turned notebook on and suddenly it turned off after 4 seconds. It showed only MSI logo, I did not get in to bootloader. Then I turned it on again and same thing happened again. Except it was running only 1-2 seconds. After this notebook did not start up again. I have checked power supply with voltmeter and got suitable voltage. I did let the battery to discharge little over night and in the morning I tried to put it on charger. The battery diode lighted up. But still could not start it up. I already filled out MSI Service webform yesterday, but still did not get any response. Im just posting it here if someone of you has some idea i could try. Also does anyone got any idea why are mine audio jacks not golden? They are just black. I supposed they had to be golden plated. Sorry for my bad grammar, I am not born English speaker . Thank you for you help and time.

    Hello,
I am sorry you experience this problem and probably I would be frustrated if such a thing would happen to me.
Sorry if I dis-read something, but have you tried turning the laptop ON without the battery just with charger? And other way around (with FULL battery but no charger)?
About HDD: you can take it out, but would be BEST if you make backup somewhere once you take it out and send it TOGETHER with the laptop, as the problem might be somewhere with the wires.

  • New MSI GE70 2PE laptop screen not turning on/potential graphics problem

    Hi all,
This is very frustrating for me!
I've just bought a brand new MSI GE70 2PE gaming laptop for my partner and turning on causes the power on light to blink blue and orange - something i'm struggling to find any information online for. The screen remains black with no backlight or turning on. I have tried plugging the laptop through VGA into my monitor and it also says it cannot pick up any signal.
This is leading me to think it is some sort of graphics related problem. The disc drive is ejecting, I can hear the processor ticking along and all the fans etc are on - so it's not completely dead.
The fan is actually pumping out fairly warm air too, when left idle which to me seems a little odd too - I wouldn't thought it would be struggling at this point.
I have no idea what is going on, if the laptop is completely faulty or its something I am overlooking. It's supposedly 'brand new' - well the box was sealed and this problem has occurred from the first time I have tried to boot it.
I've tried running it on battery, purely on AC and this doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas people? This is super frustrating and I don't want to have to get in contact with MSI about this for some sort of warantee job.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello hybridoriental,
Since your laptop is still brand new one under the warranty, I'll suggest you send it to the MSI service centers or MSI authorized service points for inspections.
The power light in orange means the system is accessing the discrete GPU. Looks like your laptop stuck in a loop before it started the BIOS. Just make sure you installed the battery and plugged the AC power before you turn it on. If it still doesn't work, it would be better and time-saving to send it to someone whom can inspect and take care of the laptop rather than figure it out by yourself.

  • MSI GE70 2OE static electricity problems!

Hi, i bought an MSI GE70 2OE gaming laptop and right away i noticed some static electricity where i put my hands on the pc case. Anyone else having problems like these, and is it dangerous? I mean even right now when i type this article i have my hands resting on the pc and i can feel some static electricity. Yesterday i even had a small discharge when i touched the corner of my pc... since the pc is metallic or aluminium or whatever, i guess it builds up charge. First i thought it was my power outlet, so i changed them and still static electricity...then i thought all sockets in my apartment were screwed up so i went to a friend across town, plugged it in...and still static electricity problems.... I mean i just bought the pc 2 weeks ago and i don't want it fried or destroyed because of this...is this dangerous?  Whenever i unplug the pc and run it on battery, everything is 100% fine and i feel no static electricity at all... and as soon as i plug it in, i feel it again when i touch my pc.

Just a note. I bet it was the first time you saw notebook exploded from wi-fi antenna from inside.
I guess what if there is a connection? Who knows. That laptop's case is from plastic but who knows.
OP, ask someone else to touch laptop. Not on the carpet) maybe it is just you.
Actually, on the GT laptops it's metal....the handrest is actually metal.
But yeah. indranil's suggestion makes more sense.

  • MSI GE70-2oe - GPU Problem

    Hi
My notebook runs Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (and few other games) with Intel® HD Graphics 4600 but It should use GTX765, even If I set in Nvidia control panel to use high performance graphics card.
Please help, If you know how to force notebook to use better graphic card in games.
    My MSI GE70-2oe:
    -Intel Core i7-4700MQ
    -RAM 16 GB
    -Geforce GTX 765M 2GB DDR5 + Intel® HD Graphics 4600
    -Windows 7 64bit

Quote from: Svet on 15-November-14, 02:10:15
right click on the .exe file and select nvdia processor
64bit versions of those games are still using Intel GPU, even with right click and select nvidia processor.
    Quote from: zipper.sippola on 15-November-14, 04:50:36
I find your problems pretty odd. I downloaded Planetside 2 from Steam and by default it ran on my GTX 680M (64bit exe). I changed  the gfx processor from Nvidia control panel, 3D settings, program settings to Intel [the exe is Planetside 2(launchpad.exe)] and the game ran then on it. 19 fps on Intel HD 4000, 59 fps (seems to be capped at screen refresh rate) on Nvidia. My drivers are 344.65 and 10.18.10.3958, on Win 8.1 64bit.
When I'm running this game (64bit) just after logging in to the game (map view), my laptop automatically changes used gpu from Nvidia to Intel HD Graphics, even if I right click on exe file and select high preformance gpu..
    Maybe its Windows 8.1 ??

  • MSI msi GE70 2OE-017US HDD problem

    Hi
    I just bought a MSI GE70 2OE-017US Windows 8
and after like 2 weeks, i was having slow performance issues and when checking what was causing it, it was because my  Disk was often going to 100%.. I have tried many things, like changing the virtual memory, but that didnt work, i'm also sure that it's not a virus since i have bitdefender 2013 and check daily for viruses, and mallware with malwarebytes, so I decided to do a re-install of windows 8 and it didn't seem to help, i'm suspecting that it might be that the Hitachi HTS727575A9E364 is breaking down or something, because i really don't get what the problem is...
Could someone please help me out?
Here is a screenshot of my task manager
Oh and i also did a chkdsk.
    Thanks

I guess you run Windows 8, you can go to "task manager" and check the what SW runs in HDD, or please print out the screen and post here, MSI tech support will help you next...

  • MSI GE70 - Heat Problem

    Hi,
This is my first post, hope it is in the correct section.
I recently bought an MSI-GE70-2OE039. When playing Crysis 3 or Dirt 3, within 15 minutes the CPU reach temperatures of between 94 & 97 degrees. Are these temperatures normal for the GE70 series laptops?
I've sent the laptop back to the supplier (after they told me it runs to hot and it must go back to the MSI distributor ), but the MSI distributor tested it, getting the same results, says it is normal for the laptop to run at those temperatures during gaming.
So the supplier will now just send it back to me again and refuse to get a solution. Wish they told me before I bought this laptop that it will run at those temperatures. I understand now that gaming laptops do get hot, but is 97 degrees normal?
(During testing I did use a cooling pad.)
Thank you for your comments and replies.
    MSI GE70 2OE Intel Sharkbay i7-4700MQ 2.4GHz CPU / 12GB DDR3 RAM / 128GB Super RAID (2x 64GB SSDs) + 1TB HDD / Blu-Ray/DVD-RW Combo / 17.3" FHD Anti-Glare LED LCD Screen / nVidia Geforce GTX765M 2GB Graphics / Windows 8 SL

Thanks for your reply. This is part of the message from the main MSI Branch forwarded to me from the distributor.
"Please understand Intel Haswell is running hotter than Ivy Bridge. Our developers spent a lot of time to make sure that we have the best performance with CPU. In MSI previous thermal tests, CPU will increase its own temperature at 81 to 94 degrees if the system is running with heavy loading. This is normal temperature and the system works as designed."
The distributor refuses to accept that there is a problem with the temperatures. They've had the laptop now for 2 weeks and said they are going to send it back to me.

  • Problems with my msi ge70 2Pe-042BE

Hello guys, i have some problems with my 1 year old msi laptop
Problem 1: First of all the ventilator ( i think it's the ventilator) makes a constant buzzing/zooming sound. It is not that noticeable but this is not the biggest problem.
Problem 2 : The biggest problem i have is that my google chrome keeps freezing. I tried to search it to google how to fix it but not any tutorial worked out for me . I have got this problem for around 2-3 months ( before everything was working out). Mozilla firefox + internet explorer works fine for me but i hate these internet browsers by heart.
PRoblem 3 : if i look to my estimated usage of wifi it seems like i am using alot of mb althought i am not downloading, utorrent is not open , my skype is not open so i don't understand what is going on .
Problem 4 : since some days my internet is randomly disconnecting for 2 seconds while my brother has no problems ( yes he sometimes has ping spikes just like me at the same time but he does not disconnect) ( our chambers are next to eachother). I tried to search it on google but again almost no results ( some people said to update drivers or something , i am not the best in laptops/computers so i don't know  what to do)
Thanks for reading and i hope someone can help me . ( also is there a way to 'boost' your perfomances from your msi because it seems like it doesn't have the best perfomances for the price i paid and i don't have alot of programs/movies installed. Neither do i have a virus

for the wifi issue, try to disable the power saving feature of your wifi card. Go device manager and click on the card. find the power management tab.

  • MSI GE70 2OE-011NE gpu problem

Hi! i bought a Msi Ge70 with a gtx765m today and as with every new computer i buy i try this windows performance tool to see if its good or bad, and with this my gpu is wow im kinda chocked of the results. I get for gfx 4.3 and for gaming like 6.4 and with my old laptop with a gt 635m i get 5.0 for gfx and 6.6 for gaming whats up with this?
Since i figure that this ms thingy might not be the best to check it on i downloaded 3dmark, really dont know what my results should be but i checked a computer with same specs and that one got like 30% more than mine.
    3dmark.com/3dm/1276250
If u check this one the gpu core clock is 405 mhz is this right? ive read something about 850 mhz + boost.
Sorry for the spelling my english isnt the best
    Peace

The Windows score is really all bull crap. It doesn't mean anything. Yes, it sort of does, but that's just it, when you run that test, it doesn't use the NVidia GTX765M, it ends up using the Intel iGPU, which sucks. This explains the really low rating, instead of a much higher one that might be expected.
Your older laptop with a GT635M got higher scores because it probably did not use Optimus technology, and therefore was ALWAYS using the GT635M, and would always get good performance (relatively anyway) because of that.
The GE70 uses NVidia Optimus technology to switch between the Intel iGPU (on the CPU) and the GTX765M.
I would ignore the Windows score. On my GT70 0NE with a GTX680M, my desktop graphics score is a 5.5, whereas every other score is 7.1 or higher. If I force it to run with the NVidia enabled (which is possible) it will be much higher, I just don't bother because again, it's a rather meaningless score.
Enjoy the new laptop, you'll notice it more in games and such when compared to the old one!

  • NVIDIA Optimus on MSI GE70 2OE: No screens, then server fails to start

    Hello,
I have recently acquired an MSI GE70 2OE-071 laptop with the following configuration, intending to run Arch Linux (dual boot with Windows 7) on it:
    CPU: Intel Core i7-4700 MQ
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M (2 GB DDR5 memory)
    LCD: 17.3" FHD 1920x1080
    Memory: 12 GB DDR3
    HDD: 1 TB 7200 RPM
I originally installed Arch Linux the same way as described in the beginner's guide. I could get the basic twm setup to work, but the moment I installed the proprietary drivers (using pacman -S nvidia, followed by nvidia-xconfig, followed by a reboot), X Windows crashed, i.e. I started getting the No screens found error. So after some days of digging, I found the NVIDIA Optimus wiki page. Following the advice here, I could get rid of this error, but I still cannot get into the GUI, because the server terminates. There is no hardware problem that I can think of because Manjaro Linux works fine, and being a perpetual Arch novice eager to learn, I just wanted to get this thing to work from the ground up.
So I'd really appreciate some help.

If I understand this correctly, then you have an Optimus graphics card (couldn't find anything online, but your lspci looks like it). I too have such a setup on my laptop. The thing to keep in mind here, is that your main graphics card is the Intel integrated card. So instead of installing your system like with an nvidia card, you install it like an intel card. Specifically, you would want to follow the instructions on Bumblebee. Once you followed them, the whole graphics part runs on the Intel card. Once you want to play a game or do some other heavy graphics card work you call your application like this:
    optirun wine /path/to/game.exe
Notice how optirun tells the system to use the nvidia card. It will take a second or two to start it (specifically, enable the card, start another X screen and launch the application on it transparently). Follow the instructions in the Wiki if you have any problems.
If you don't have an Optimus card (just NVIDIA, no Intel), then don't follow any Optimus instructions, just usual NVIDIA stuff from the Wiki.

  • Please help me with my MSI GE70 notebook!

    Dear forummembers,
Recently I have bought this notebook: MSI GE70-i550M287FD FreeDOS.
I have installed Windows 7 on it. However, after barely using this notebook 2 weeks I have already encountered some troublesome problems.
First of all I had some troubles using the Driver CD which came along with the notebook. I was able to manually install most of the drivers that were present though. But I have recently found out that I my notebook somehow is unable to install ANY diver by itself or so. e.g. whenever I try to connect my printer, it tells me that it was unable to download/install the needed drivers for the printer. Therefore I am not able to use it. The same goes up for likewise devices which require drivers being installed before use. An external harddisk and a mouse are the only things that will connect.
Then there is another problem: When I go to device manager I see this:
I haven´t got a clue what it is for and what to do about it. However I do have a feeling it has something to do with my first inquiry.
Lastly there is a problem regarding windows update. I am unable to do anythign with it or updating anything as I keep getting the following message: Name: MSI Windows Update problem.png Views: 16 Size: 234.4 KB
I haven´t got clue how this came to be and what to do about it.. It´s very hard for me as I am not a computer expert.
Despite these problems I am still havign a great time with my purchase!
I hope that you will be able to help me in these troublesome matters.
Thank you all in advance for your efforts!
    Yours,
    esmorax

Is there a way to fix this without having to erase all on my NB?
Where can I find the appropiate drivers for my NB? As the Driver-CD delivers them for Windows 8 and I have to manually install the Windows 7 ones :C
If you have to erase All your Notebook then you definitely need to reinstall OS in a proper manner... which means proper partitioning HDD. You must have more than 1 partition on HDD if it is only one in notebook. Drive C (50-100GB) for pure OS and Programms and Drive D for "My ..." folders, documents games, movies etc.
AS about drivers just use GOOGLE typing GE70 2OE or 2OC or 2OD... whatever you have. Check the model in BIOS.

Could there be any other source of this problem despite windows 7 problem? And would there be any solution?
Yeah, the gasket between the mouse and the seat of the chair:D I hope you have sense of humor and won't take it serious because it is quite popular joke.

  • MSI GE70 bigfoot boot agent message

    Hi dear everyone ,
I have a msi ge70 2oe , everything is fine with my gamebook but there is only 1 problem , i can not disable bigfoot boot agent message when startup it sound like not a big deal but it's really annyoing cause i dont want to wait a think that i dont really i tried to press " shift + f10 " and disabled it but it is not working so can anyone help me please.
    Thanks

I believe there's actually a setting in the computers BIOS about whether to load that ROM image or not during bootup. You should be able to disable within the BIOS (NOT the bigfoot BIOS).

  • MSI Ge70 0nd-224Fr request old Bios

    Hi all,
I have a problem with my MSI Ge70 0nd-224Fr Notebook.
I have upgraded Bios from E1756IMS.511 to E1756IMS.514 and my graphic card GTX660M dosen't work correctly  .
All was good with E1756IMS.511 Bios !
So i want to rool back to E1756IMS.511 Bios.
is anyone has this bios file because MSI website doesn't have link to old bios ?
I will be very very happy is someone can help me.
    Best regards,

Some games doesn't detect correctly Nvidia graphics card (I have try with 314.x  320.x nvidia driver [and with last beta 320.49] and i have selected game exe association with nvidia card but it was good with E1756IMS.511 but not with E1756IMS.513 and E1756IMS.514)
example : i have bad shadows on mafia 2 bench (but with old bios it was good)
and For example (my os is Windows 8) with Areo Glass mod from big muscle (it working with E1756IMS.511 bios but not with E1756IMS.513 and 514 ...)
So for me, E1756IMS.511 is the best bios and the most "stable".
I didn't want overclock my graphic card, i only want the most stable system (the last bios release has a very negative resut on my system  )
I have read that the 514 Bios solved a bug with "incorrect detection nvidia graphic card frequency", so it was the only reason of why i have made an upgrade of my bios ...
    E1756IMS.514 Fixes:
    - Modify radio switch device only present in Windows 8.
    - Solve the problem of abnormal password window when first boot priority is IP4/IP6.
    - Solve the abnormal problem of resume from S4 after disable/enable Full Screen Logo Display.
    - Solve abnormal NVIDIA GPU frequency problem.
So my result is with E1756IMS.514:
    - abnormal NVIDIA detection problem
    - Artefact on game
Please, give me a link to original bios E1756IMS.511 and original EC.
Thank you for advance for your help.
