MSI GeForce 210 not post in Sapphire A9RX480 mobo?!

This is a bit nuts. The MSI card is GeForce 210-MD512H:
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N210-MD512H.html#?div=Specification%22
...witch is basicaly fanless budget MSI GeForce 210 with 589/1024MHz clocks and 512MB DDR2 ram. All in all a budget card to do the work required and that it is. I never expect playing Crysis on it... maybe SoF2... lol!
However I wanted to use it in my Sapphire "Grouper" A9RX480 mobo (that is ATI chipset RX480-450 for SB) and it refuse to post. When I plug there my old good PNY GeForce 7800, then (even w/o the external power cable connected - DOS only, true) everything seems working out nicely!
Now that is a bit insane. Any suggested bios settings to make the card work? The mobo is fine, memtest passed all tests and never had a problem with it...
Yes, it is claimed to be 16x PCIEx speed... shall I try 8x? Or what should I do? The card is also tested in another computer and it is working nicely there...!

Oooops, I'm sorry. When way more powerfull and way more PSU demanding 7800 GTX works fine, then I never even mind that any other information is necessary, but whatever. Here we go:
Board: Sapphire A9RX480 "Grouper"
Bios: oldest and even latest official version available tried, even moded version: http://ax2.old-cans.com/grouper - still same problem!
VGA: MSI GeForce 210-MD512H ( http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N210-MD512H.html#?div=Specification )
PSU: Enermax 620W Liberty
CPU: Opteron 148
MEM: Mushkin Enhanced DDR400 PC3200 (can do 2-2-2-5 :D - memtest fine)
HDD: none
COOLER: Zalman CNPS 9500 Led
OC: none
OS: none
It is just a mainboard, PSU and floppy sitting on chair near monitor (Eizo F35 Flexscan) for testing... Nothing else.
Tried 8x settings in the PCIE Bus Width, no difference :(
Some BIOS settings are really interesting - how about these?
LTD Configuration - Enabled
Upstream LTD Bus Width - 16bit
Downstream LTD Bus Width - 16bit
LTD Bus Frequency - Auto (1GHz, 800MHz, 600MHz, 400MHz, 200MHz)
(I know, this have more to do with the CPU memory controler that GFX card, but who knows?)
PCIE GFX Core Payload Size - 64Bytes (32Bytes, 16Bytes)
PCIE GPP Core Payload Size - 64Bytes (32Bytes, 16Bytes)
NB-SB Port Configuration - Default (Enhanced)
PCI-E GFX Link Width - x16 (x12, x8, x4, x2, x1)
Assign IRQ For VGA - Enabled (Disabled)
...any suggestions? Tried 32Bytes (for the PCIE GFX Core Payload Size|PCIE GPP Core Payload Size settings), but no change. Eg. NO POST with this MSI card...
Additional info about the card: it is MSI GeForce 210-MD512H, on the PCB is near the heatsink and PCIE connector:
"V201" "VER: 1.1" and "Product of China" and near the "no trash" symbol is "D33008"
From the bottom side, there is a big letters "N1996" after a "Nike" checkmark and at the end of the PCB, some probably manufacture info:
APCB M3 94V-0
RU 0942 E230435
E129N4774BB
Bought the card from friend, who replaced it with faster one. Tried with another computer, where it worked just fine (IIRC Gigabyte mainboard, but not sure about it) ...
Is there any bios fix for this card that help me out?

  • MSI P67A-GD65 Not Posting, unsure of beep code meaning

Just swapped out my old K9A platinum for a P67A-GD65 and I can't seem to get it to post. I'm getting a beep code of five beeps (long ones maybe? google indicates "process error") but I'm not sure what that means. Pulled the video card, tried my two sticks of ram in slot 1 one at a time, disconnected every device but still getting the same code. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
Edit: Tried clearing the CMOS as well but no luck
    Sound @ post:

    MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) Motherboard
    Intel Core i7-2600K processor
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) ram

    MSI R5770 Hawk Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 graphics card

It seems I'm not the only one having weird issues with this board. I have the exact same board, v1.8 BIOS and Gskill F3-17000CL9D-8GBXLD memory.
If I enable the XMP profile for this memory, this system will not post. It does not matter if I raise the DRAM voltage and I/O (memory controller) voltage to their acceptable limits, it does not matter if I manually enter in the timings of the memory specified on the box. XMP = no post.
So after disabling XMP I kept the memory at 1600mhz, which worked fine. I decided to try 1866mhz and a little more voltage. This seemed to work fine...for awhile. This morning my system would not post. I had to clear the CMOS (not use the jumper but literally remove the battery). Ever since then my system will BSOD after a few minutes on startup unless I manually enter in my memory timings (I tried two sticks from different vendors).
I know I don't have bad memory, and the fact is that this board will not post with vendor specified settings.
All I can suggest is to pull the CMOS battery and try one stick of memory.

Here is the issue I did the minum connections before putting the computer in the case to make sure it would POST, but it doesn't. The motherboard speaker doesn't make a sound but the 8 led lights on top of the MOBO are all lit. I cant get any response from my monitor when its hooked up to my video card. the fan from the PSU and video cards are spinning but again no POST can anyone help Me with this thank you., also I used a second power supply and still no POST or response from the monitor but again all the fans are working and all 8 of the led lights are lit at the top of the MOBO. once again thanks for your help.

    Good evening!
    All parts are new?
Use a single stick of memory.
Recheck all power connections are well in place, and don't forget the one near and for the processor.
Don't think that is the problem, but for good measure you should also reseat the graphics card.
I'm not sure whether this mobo has a speaker.

  • MSI 7512 Will not POST/BOOT

After moving I installed my system and found out it wouldn't POST/Boot. I disconnected all but hard drive, 1set of memory, and video. Still nothing...
The set of LED's (four to the left) show read. I remember seeing green prior to moving.
    Any suggestions?

    Henry et al:
The CPU is a Intel sockect 775 2.6ghz quad core. Does this help with your "NEARLY WORTHLESS INFORMATION" comment. Would you be eluding to how the FSB of the proc could hinder the ability for "power up". Additionally, since I can't find a instruction manual on the MSI website/Internet I haven't been able to confirm this. In all this discussion thread, I have been attempting to narrow down the part that may not be allowing for computer to as stated in the previous sentence "power up". Hoping that the relatively new Motherboard (little over a year) is not Bad.
As I stated from yesterdays post, the CPU is new (bought yesterday). The memory sticks are kingston 1 gig DDR2 x4 (Worked prior to problem). I have installed the memory in the four possible combinations and still not powering up.  In all the problems, I have extra parts for everything besides the CPU and motherboard. After replacing the CPU yesterday I am left with the motherboard.
At this point I am having a hard time seeing how the little details of each piece of hardware is going to affect the "power up" of these parts.
My understanding is that you need a minimum of the follow to power up.
    1. PSU
    2. Motherboard
    3. CPU
    4. Memory
From there I  can systimatically bring another piece of the computer in (troublshooting) to the mix.
Am I missing something? While I am not an expert to these field I can understand the basic functionality that should happen here.

  • MSI P67A-GD53 Not POSTing

    Hi y'all,
Just bought an MSI P67a-GD53 (B3) Motherboard as part of a new build. The rest of the system is as follows
    Intel Core i5 2500k
    2 x 2GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz RAM
    MSI Twin Frozr GTX560Ti
Antec Trupower 650W Modular Power Supply
    Crucial RealSSD 64GB
    Thermaltake Fri CPU Cooler
The problem I'm having is the system won't POST at all. When I plug in and power up all the fans (CPU,System & GPU) spin up, all the CPU Phase LEDs light up and remain lit but the monitor displays "No Signal" and there are no beeps from the internal speaker. I have tried with both sticks of RAM in the primary slot (the blue one closest to the cpu) and I've tried booting with CPU only, CPU + RAM only, CPU + RAM + GPU  only.... all giving me exactly the same problem.
All power cords are correctly connected, I've tried breadboarding the whole thing to ensure there are no short circuits. The only time it does anything different is when i leave the 8-PIN CPU power connector unplugged, in which case only the first CPU phase LED lights up and all the fans spin up for approx 4 secs before powering down, then  powering back on again and repeating until I cut the power.
    Any bright ideas?

    Sorry, read P67, thought Z68.

  • MSI K8Tneo Will Not Post

Hi, before I RMA my board and cpu..I thought I'd do some research and hope that someone else may be able to resolve my problem.
I just recieved the K8tneo today.. Put it all together and basically it wont post.  The 4 LED's in the back stay lit red.  The PC powers up, fans work yada yada.
Here is the hardware Im using
    Antec 400w PS
    512meg Samsung DDR333 PC2700
    Radeon 9600 pro
    LSI SCSI controller Ultra 320
    Seagate Cheetah SCSI
    yamaha 24x CDR/W
(no IDE hard drives other than my CD players)
Ive tried removing everything including the ram to see if I could get a different message from the LED's with no luck.  According to the manual, 4 red LEDs mean theres a faulty CPU or improperly seated.  I removed the CPU and checked it out.  Everything looked fine.. no smell of burnt silicon no signs of burning..the cpu was seated so well on my heatsink I had to pry it off with a fricken butter knife!  Odd thing is when I removed the heatsink the cpu came with it.. almost like it wasnt seated at all (locked down) but it was because I did it.
so, Im looking at a possible damaged cpu and a damaged motherboard now?  All I know now is when I turn on the PC I get power to everything, disks spin up..computer actually beeps..and thats all.  And I know all my hardware works minus the cpu and mobo because im using it this moment to write this post.  I just cant get the damn thing to post.
No metal to case contact..nothing squirly going on..no smell of anything burnt..cpu is an athlon 64 3200+
so what would you do?  Ive read mentions that the ram could cause it not to post, but wouldnt the LED's at least show that it was past the CPU check?  To my knowledge posting goes from CPU to Ram..always cpu check first.
    thanks..

Quoted from page 2-12 of the manual
"ATX 12V Power Connector: JPW1.  This 12v power connector is used to provide power to the CPU"
okay.  this makes sense considering the message im getting from the D-LED says my cpu is either not seated properly ..or damaged.
    thanks
gonna pick up the PS instead tomorrow (if I can) and hold out on the ram until I know for sure.
I just realized my video boards fan went out so I may end up having to replace that as well which is why I need to hold out on the ram.
Thanks bud.. I hope this works.

  • Geforce 210

I have a MSI geforce 210 that i recently installed and it keeps overheating and shutting down my system. The fan is running and the case cover is off and it still overheats. Any suggestions?
    Thank
    Andy

I've got 2 of those cards. The one that comes with a dinky little toy fan doesn't overheat as long as you don't run intensive graphics. If you do, it cooks and I haven't figured out how to give it additional cooling yet.
The 'Silent' version comes with a massive heat sink but no fan which is worthless as it is upside down and apparently the manufacturers haven't figured out the old conduction, convection and radiant heat rules yet. The old devil called heat rises, going right back into the GPU and only a little radiant heat getting carried away from things. Anyway, if that is the card you have, grab some zip ties and strap and hefty little CPU fan to the heat sink, eating 2 more card slots in the process. It will run very cool and happy.

    I need HELP...!
I have a problem my board did not post , did not start and i have the DEBUG LED CODE # 67 displayed.
    There is my build
MSI Big Bang Xpower II X79 LGA2011
    Intel Core i7 3820 LGA2011 Processor
Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H100 CPU Cooler System LGA2011
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series memory (F3-12800CL-32GBZL) DDR3 1600 PC3-12800 - CL10-10-10-30 (8192MB X 4) - 32GIG located in DIMM 1-3-5-7
Gigabyte GTX570 OC Edition video card in slot PCI-E2
    Western Digital Velociraptor 300GB 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s 10,000 RPM
    LG BH12LS35 Blu-Ray Writer 12X BD-R 16X
    Ultra LSP-750 Power Supply
Cooler Master HAF X EATX Tower Case
When I put the power on, the power supply activated fans and drives spin, all the LEDs on the motherboard light up but nothing appears on the screen.
No video signal at all and the computer stop and restrart every 15 seconds. When these reset occurs there is no beep on the speaker , nothing at all, no flashing screen either, nothing.
The DEBUG LED display a sequence of flashing numbers 19 - 60 - 19- 60 - 67 and stop showing still the number # 67 for about ten seconds and then he reset again.
I carefully followed the instruction manual for the installation, I installed the memory modules in slots 1 3 5 7, i put my video card in slot PCI-E2. all the power wire are connected correctly 1 x 24 pins ATX, 2 x 8 pins ATX, 1 X 6 pins , all the wire from the front panel are correctly connected to the m-connector in JFP1 & 2.
Did i forget something, I don’t know what the debug led code # 67 exactly mean and what i have to do to fix-it
Someone has an idea what is wrong or have any suggestion to solve this issue.
     Thank's all for your help.

I followed some advice to remove the memory modules and this is actually caused by the use of memory but you will see I still have a curious bug.
I referred to the instructions manual to the letter for the choice of DIMM SLOT to put the memory module in single, double, triple and quad channels.
If I install 1 memory module in the DIMM SLOT  1 to operate in single channel, everything is normal and the motherboard  POST normally and show  the SETUP SCREEN.
If I install 2 memory modules in  DIMM SLOT  1 & 3 to run in dual channel, everything is normal and the motherboard  POST normally and show  the SETUP SCREEN.
If I install three memory modules in DIMM SLOT 1 - 3 - 5 to run in triple channel, everything is normal and the motherboard POST normally and show  the SETUP SCREEN.
As soon as I install four DIMMs modules mémoiredans SLOT 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 to run in quad channel, the motherboard  freezes and does NOT POST and show  code 67 on the debug led and has reset itself every 20 seconds.
I tried all my RAM modules alternately in both single channel and everything works normally.
I did the same thing in rotation for both dual and triple channel and everything is still normal with all fourth memory modules individually.
As soon as I put a fourth memory module it freezes and displays the code 67 or L9 dependent side as you look.
So my bug is my motherboard MSI Big Bang Xpower II do  not want  to work in quad channel.
Do you have any idea where I should look for, is a setting in the BIOS  , I have flashed the bios to the latest version V1.5
I included the screenshot of the BIOS to see if you can  notice something wrong.
    Thank you

  • MSI Geforce FX 5900SP 128Mb or NOT?

Me and my friend just bought new MSI Geforce FX 5900SP 128Mb that came also with that VIVO cable and other accessories. I also looked on the sticker that was on the back side of the card and there it was writen that this card is 5900SP. All OK!
This card came in OEM version! Then I took a look around and I saw on the MSI internet site and elsewhere that 5900SP has also a heatsinks on the RAM. And my card does not have that heatsink on the ram that looks like a cooper half-circle around the GPU HSF.
My card looks same as MSI Geforce FX 5900XT which is not coz I have a VIVO function. Take a look for the MSI geforce FX 5900XT which does not have that heat sinks on the ram.
My ram is clocked as follows 2D: 300/700 and 3D: 400/700.
Anyone there with this version of FX 5900SP card - without the heatsinks on the RAM?
    Just curious what I have?!

Go to the link provided below and get the zipped excel spreadsheet that is provided by GlennVidia. It should answer your question I believe.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=12335&sid=
I have the 5900FXSP 256mb which comes with a twin flow cooling system. (2 fans, one on each side incl the copper heatsink) where yours I believe is the 128mb SP version that comes with a fansink cooling system as a standard. The spec sheet points out the differences between the products.
    Hope this helps
