Msi geforce 4 ti 4200 vtd8x few questions

first off i know the stock clock speeds are 250/512, now my first question is what have you guys been able to overclock the card to on the stock top tech cooling from 250/512 to what speeds?
also 2ndly the msi geforce 4 ti 4200 vtd8x video card it has a jumper, ive never had a jumper on my video cards before, what is this jumper for?
go here to see it here
the jumper is green in this pic and it is right under the big copper thing on the right side of the card looking at it from the pci slot, where the pci slot is the bottom of card

ok i now know what jumper does, this is response form msi tech support "That's a jumper to switch video BIOS.  If somehow the video BIOS goes bad after flashing it or other reason, you can switch the jumper and use another BIOS."
now id still like to know what youve been able to overclock the ti 4200 vt8dx cards to with the stock top tech cooling to

  • MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question

does the MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200-VTD8X question video card have a sheet of copper on the back side of the video card?

I don't know because I don't have that video card, but on one of the hardware sites I've been to, it says the backplate is simply too light to be copper and they suspect it's copper-coloured aluminum. I am not sure, maybe someone with the card can check it out.

  • Msi GeForce 4 4200 frame rate locked at 60 with Windows 2000

Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.
Any Ideas? I even turned the Vsync off and on.

I give XP 2 more years before it's the OS for all. I've reinstalled 6 systems with Windows 2000 because of compatibility problems.)

  • MSI GeForce 8600GTS 256MB GDDR3 size question

I am considering the  MSI GeForce 8600GTS (NX8600GTS-T2D256EZ-HD) passive cooling PCIe card for my computer.
Since my cabinet is pretty small and I have a oversized CPU fan, I need to know the space required for this card.
It seems like the cooling ribs are on the left side of the card (looking at the DVI connectors), but how much space is required?
    Can anyone help me?

I just installed this particular card in a couple of systems over the holidays. The cooling for the card is entirely on the side opposite from where the CPU and Northbridge coolers are located. I don't see you have any problems if that is what you are concerned with. It is a rather large card though. Of course, I have them installed in a COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 case which is ideal for me and my customers.

  • MSI GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 DDR (Direct3D problem)

I bought the MSI GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128 DDR just today and I seem to be experiencing Direct3D issues.  I never have problems with general use of the video card, but when I try to play games that require 3D acceleration I get crashes (Blue screen of Death).  The reason why I think it is the Direct3D is because I only get problems when attempting to run 3D accelerated games, and I've downloaded a couple video test programs off of the net and they have crashed when testing 3D as well.  ?( I just ran dxdiag and it failed when I test Direct3D:
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
Questions:  Has anyone had this issue before and is it fixable without me returning the card for a different one?
    Thanks,
     Brent

Sorry about that, I should have put that in the first message.
I run Win 2000 server and I did a clean install (format drive) when I got the new video card. I have a Pentium 3, 800 Mhz 256 MBs RAM.  The motherboard is an AOpen AX3S with all Intel chips.
My previous video Card was an ATI Rage Fury 32 MB and it ran all my games with Direct3D, but usually with low frames per second.
The only thing I changed was the video card and the drivers of course.  I'm really trying to avoid sending the card back.  ;(  Any suggestion would be helpful..  Thank you!
    Brent
P.S.  I tried to run that 3D Mark program that people use to test their video cards and that failed before it finished, so my score must be 0.

    Orm,
To start with your power supply could be too weak to run the Athlon XP(Guessing you have an Athlon XP) and the GF4 under load.  150W combined and 14A on the 3.3v RAIL is not enough.
You could try removing your your firewire, sound and nic cards, and unplugging your two CD Drives.
See if you can get any farther then.  Also get the latest Detonator Drivers from the nVidia Website. They should be on 41.09 now.
    Good Luck,

  • MSI GeForce GTX 780 SLI question.

    Hi,
I wonder if my MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming OC is compatible with the MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning LE in SLI?
    Thanks!
    BR, Tobias

as long as both cards are using the same GPU (GTX 780 GK110) and they both have the same amount of VRAM (EG: 3GB+3GB) then they will be able to be used in SLI as long as your PSU can power both of them!
you can use SLI even with different manufacturers cards so long as its the same spec (GPU) as the other and the VRAM frame buffers match each other as both need the same amount!

I run all my games on WME so that I have more RAM available for the game (XP is memory hog) and because my flight control setup (CH Force FX {14 programmable buttons}, CH Pro Throttle {20 programmable buttons}, CH Pedals) is not recognized in WXP.
I received HALO as a birthday gift. It loaded fine. I ran it and it continually locked up at the main menu screen of the game. The Audio part of the game continued to advance, but the video got stuck. My wife loaded the game and tried to run it and got the same results, she has only WXP for an OS on an MSI K7T 266 Pro 2 RU motherboard. She upgraded her MSI Geforce3 Ti-200 TD Pro drivers from MSI 44.03 to NVIDIA 52.16 and HALO then ran flawlessly.
MSI has upgraded drivers 45.32 and Nvidia has upgraded drivers 45.23. Both of these drivers locked up my machine each and everytime I installed them. My machine runs the NVIDIA 56.12 drivers without any problem on Windows XP PRO. I had to uninstall the MSI 45.32 and/or NVIDIA 45.23 drivers and reload the MSI 44.03 drivers to get WME to boot up. HALO will not run on the 44.03 drivers. One of the techs from microsoft called me at home the last two nights in a row to try and resolve this issue. Conclusion at end of night one was updated video drivers needed to be installed. Conclusion at end of night two was that there was a hardware problem with the the conclusion that video card was not accepting drivers above 44.03 for the Windows Millenium Edition Operating System. There was no listing at either NVIDIA or MSI video driver site for any drivers beyond 44.03 other than NVIDIA 45.23 or MSI 45.32 respectively.
The burning question is this: As with some of the previous NVIDIA drivers are the new releases compatible with all of the operating systems? I ask this because looking in the NVIDIA 52.16 drivers folder that gets extracted I see references in the read me file to W98,W98SE,WME. Why does the MSI Geforce 3 Ti-200 card accept the NVIDIA 52.16 drivers with WXP PRO and not the NVIDIA 45.23 not the MSI 45.32 drivers with WME (and I assume W98 & W98SE?)
    Interested in the response.
    Thanks.

Judging from the problems I and several other people on the forum have mentioned, there seems to be a problem with the nVidia 45.23 drivers and video. I get a grey screen with vids unless i turn down the hardware accel to almost nothing. Other people can get vid to show on their tv out. So if you havn't tried an older driver version yet, maybe you could use the good old xp driver rollback in the video device properties.

  • MSI GeForce GTX 970 with MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3) motherboard

    Hi!
I have seen a similar issue here that was resolved with the help of this forum. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=251322.0). I still want to ask my questons however, since I have a slightly different situation.
I recently bought a new Graphics card, a MSI GTX 970, to replace my older EVGA GTX 570. After installing it, the time it takes to startup the computer is quite a bit longer. The very begninning of the startup process is the part that takes longer, I see a black screen and "B2" in the lower right hand corner, with the older GPU this was seen for a few seconds but now it stays that way for about a minute. After that I see some random colors in stead of the MSI logo and then the regular "Starting Windows" image appears, from there the startup is as fast as before.
When the computer has started it seems to work perfectly, and the new graphics card is great, everything on "ultra" in games etc.
I guess the way to resolve this issue is to update BIOS. I am a bit afraid of this however, of the risk of destroying something.
What would be your suggestions? Is it better to update bios or to leave it as it is, since the computer works? Are the any risks with keeping this bios version, that seems to have some issue with the graphics card?
Any help would be greately appreciated!
    /Johan

    Ok, thanks for the advice.
I have started looking at the instructions and have downloaded the installer and the bios file. It seems Norton Internet Security has some problem with the installer.  When I start the installer it reaches the point when it shows the current bios version, after that it is interupted by Norton. The reason that Norton gives is that it has found something called "Suspicious.Cloud.9.B" in the file b4.bks. How should I react to this?

Got a new card today, same card but new.
No problems now, seem the new card has newer bios and lower  core voltage. Maybe that is a way to fix it, just upgrade bios.

  • Considering a Mac Pro - Few Question

I am disappointed with my Intel iMac due to lack of USB ports (hubs don't work with some of my usb hardware) and the ridiculous audio/optical combo port. So I think I may go Mac Pro when Leopard is released. A few questions need to be answered if you would be so kind. A few caveats first...
    A) Mac Pros are expensive for me, so I need to save money where I am able.
    B) The Mac Pro will double as a media player for my Home Theater system. I have a connection for DVI and Toslink
    OK, now the questions...
    1. Does the Mac Pro come with the trays for the extra hard drives? I would like to purchase more drives separately. Can I do this, and what type of drives are used, SATA?
    2. RAM from Apple is expensive. Is there a less costly alternative? It must be a dependable brand. Please include part number if available. Thanks!
    3. Will reduction from 2.66 to 2.0 ghz make that much difference? I like grinding MP2 videos to H.264. Really, will it be worth the additional $264?
    4. I can use both DVI or HDMI to go to my Home Theater system. Currently, starting the Home Theater changes the resolution on my iMac. I would like to avoid this. Should I get another NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT, or will the dual port on the one card be able to be set to a different resolution output? I would like to be able to still work on my Mac while the kids are watching something in the theater.
    5. As for audio, will I be able to run headphones, external speakers and optical out all at the same time? I am assuming yes, but just want to make sure.
    6. I am also assuming the Mac Pros are quiet. Noise is one of my biggest enemies since I do quite a bit of audio work. I have not heard a single complaint regarding noise from Mac Pros. Are they that quiet?
    Thanks in advance everyone!

    4. I can use both DVI or HDMI to go to my Home
Theater system. Currently, starting the Home Theater
changes the resolution on my iMac.
You should be able to run different resolutions on the built-in display and external display if Mirroring is turned off in "Displays" System Preference.
    I would like to
avoid this. Should I get another NVIDIA GeForce 7300
GT, or will the dual port on the one card be able to
be set to a different resolution output? I would like
to be able to still work on my Mac while the kids are
    watching something in the theater.
The two DVI ports can run at different resolutions.
    5. As for audio, will I be able to run headphones,
external speakers and optical out all at the same
time? I am assuming yes, but just want to make sure.
The optical out uses the same socket al the audio out, so you can't use both at once. You could add an iMic <http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imic/> to get an additional audio output. There are also other PCI-Express, FireWire, or USB audio interfaces available.
You can also use an AirPort Express for audio output. It is designed for iTunes, but Airfoil <http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/> will send any audio to it.
You may need Audio Hijack Pro <http://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/> for different applications to send audio to different, or multiple, outputs simultaneously.
You may also want to consider the Apple TV <http://www.apple.com/appletv/> for audio and video connections to your home theater.

  • A Few Questions About Parallels 5 and Windows 7

    Hey guys!
So, I am taking a computer programming class that requires Windows, just so we can all be on the same screen at the same time (lame, I know). Anywho, I have a Mac, so my teacher provided me with a log-in to MSDNAA, to get Windows 7 for free, and he gave me Parallels 5.0 for free as well. (go community colleges!)
    A few questions:
1- I am running Snow Leopard right now on my 2009 MacBook Pro, and my processor is the 64-bit processor, but after running the command uname -a I discovered that my Kernal is loading in the 32-bit mode. Is this normal? Shouldn't it be running in 64-bit mode?
    2- Which Windows 7 should I get, the x64 or x86 (32-bit or 64-bit)?
    Thanks for any/all help!

  • MSI Geforce 4 MX 420 - freezes and crashes

Right, ok people, hi, now, i'm sorry that this is a newbie question which has gone before many times, but i dont know much about any of this so i need an explicit answer which will tell me exactly what i have to do. And to a guy who know nothing about computers, trying to wade through this entire forum to  find the answer is tricky.
    :D
Ok, heres the o-so familiar problem.
Computer freezes in windows, causing slow downs and currently it resets itself when this happens.
I think i got the idea that the Geforce was slowing down.
It also wont run some games, which i'm sure were running before the Geforce - Star Wars Supremacy for example, but it runs others, such as Homeworld.
I also vaguely picked up the idea about power.
My power supply says 200 watts, with a peak of 235.
    I have-
    an ASUS A7S333
    A duron 1.2ghz
    MSI Geforce 4 64 mb
    Hauppage Win TV card
    3com lan network card
    256 mb ram
    56k modem
So i guess the question i'm asking is: what do i do to solve the problems (simply please, i'm an idiot)

    *bump*
Sorry to bump this, but i really could do with an answer, its not helping uni work when the damn thing resets every so often (although i can usually see it coming) and i know everyone else is also trying to get an answer, but if anyone can help out i'd appreciate it. I'm pretty sure the power output problem is the right one, but i would like to hear it from someone who knows more about it than i do first. (will a 300W supply be enough? and is there anything else i'm going to need?)
    Again, thanks for your time.

  • HELP ! System freezes now with new MSI GeForce 6600GT AGP

Any/All help is greatly appreciated... this is driving me crazy.
Just installed a new MSI 6600GT AGP card.  Windows/Apps work fine.. but system keeps freezing (disabling keyboard as well) when running certain games (3D?) like Medal of Honor, Prince of Perisa, SplinterCell.  Also, freezes on 3DMark01SE benchmark software.  What strange is 3DMark2K5 ran fine.. and returned a respectable score (3078).   I've tried unistalling/re-installing latest MSI drivers (71.22), Nvidia's 66.93, and removing nVidia's GART drivers.  I've also disconnected other hardware to allieviate PSU constraints.  I've uninstalled/re-installed 6600GT card and molex power connector on card.  My system specs are below:
    Motherboard = ASUS Focus A7N8X-LA, BIOS=American Megatrend 3.07, Chipset = nVidia nForce2
    MSI GeForce 6600GT 128 AGP
    1Gb Ram

    ASUS E616P1  DVD-ROM
    RICOH  MP5240A  DVD+RW
Enermax EG375P-VE SFMA PSU  (has separate 12V rails)
Any suggestions as to what else to try?  Getting ready to RMA this card.

    Question
    I just got a K8 series MB , and your A6600GT 128MB VGA , every time when I quit the 3D games ,
the system gave me a blue screen and then restart the system. I already update the VGA driver and MB
driver but no luck , what can I do?
    Answer
If your system are WinXP + SP2 , We suggest you to disable DEP function.
Please follow below steps to disable the DEP. (See below picture)
    1. First , Select “Advanced” under “System Properties”
    2. Choose “Settings” under “Startup and Recovery”
    3. Click “ Edit “ , then you can edit “boot.ini” file.
    4. Change “/NoExecute=OptIn” as “/execute” (See below red square in step4)
    5. Then save the boot.ini file and restart the system.
    6. After rebooting , the DEP function will be disable.
