MSI GeForce GTX 970 TwinFrozr V backplate available/planned?

Anyone know if MSI plans/has a backplate for their MSI GeForce GTX 970 TwinFrozr V?
I'm looking to upgrade my cards and was looking at a couple of these, but really wanted a backplate for them.
Thanks
Anyone know when these cards will even be available to buy?!
I tried emailing MSI, but their site is a mess for registering and asking for support/help. Not sure if they even got my messages :(

Like already said no passive cooling is required on the back as the vram doesn't require any. The normal case airflow is sufficient. A backplate on the back of some manufacturer's cards are just for the look of the card. Your fingers are a bad indicator for the temperatures of electronic components.
I agree with the previous post.
Did you see how much the cards without an back plate sag? I do, my previous MSI GTX 660ti PE had a very bad sag and only at the end of the card.
If you have back plate its quite obvious that the vrm's get cooled much better and it ads some rigidity to the card as well. I am an member of overclock.net forum and they complain about the vrm temps compare to the Gigabyte versions. The vrms get much hotter on the MSI gaming than on the G1 from Gigabyte.
I am not saying that gigabyte is better than MSI or they clock higher, in fact, i have 14K score in Firestrike so i am good, but i am only pointing out that a GPU WITH back plate has better cooling and rigidity.

  • MSI GeForce GTX 970 with MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3) motherboard

    Hi!
I have seen a similar issue here that was resolved with the help of this forum. (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=251322.0). I still want to ask my questons however, since I have a slightly different situation.
I recently bought a new Graphics card, a MSI GTX 970, to replace my older EVGA GTX 570. After installing it, the time it takes to startup the computer is quite a bit longer. The very begninning of the startup process is the part that takes longer, I see a black screen and "B2" in the lower right hand corner, with the older GPU this was seen for a few seconds but now it stays that way for about a minute. After that I see some random colors in stead of the MSI logo and then the regular "Starting Windows" image appears, from there the startup is as fast as before.
When the computer has started it seems to work perfectly, and the new graphics card is great, everything on "ultra" in games etc.
I guess the way to resolve this issue is to update BIOS. I am a bit afraid of this however, of the risk of destroying something.
What would be your suggestions? Is it better to update bios or to leave it as it is, since the computer works? Are the any risks with keeping this bios version, that seems to have some issue with the graphics card?
Any help would be greately appreciated!
    /Johan

    Ok, thanks for the advice.
I have started looking at the instructions and have downloaded the installer and the bios file. It seems Norton Internet Security has some problem with the installer.  When I start the installer it reaches the point when it shows the current bios version, after that it is interupted by Norton. The reason that Norton gives is that it has found something called "Suspicious.Cloud.9.B" in the file b4.bks. How should I react to this?

  • MSI GeForce Gtx 970 Coil Whine noise threw headset/stereo

Hi, I recently got an MSI GeForce Gtx 970 and for some odd reason, when I boot up a game it starts making some sort of Coil Whine noise which is not coming from my computer, it's coming from my headset or stereo. The noise kind of sounds like an electric tooth brush. And I have read many reviews on this graphics card and people are saying that they are hearing a Coil Whine noise coming from the graphics card, but me it's my headset. It may be an interference. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hey man,
I am not sure about this completely but I know my buddy has a gtx 980 and he gets coil whine. It also affects his headphones when they are plugged in. He told me the sound is much better when he got a set of USB head phones. G430 ones I think.

    Thanks for the tip!

  • MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB GAMING

So I recently bought the GTX 970 OC with 1279 MHz clock speed. However, several times lately when I'm gaming I notice poor performance, so I loaded up some hardware monitoring to see what was up with that. CPU, RAM and disk looks fine, however my GPU clock speed is stuck at idle speed, 540Mhz!! During gaming! What is up with that? I have all drivers up-to-date.

Side note: Why does the Gaming app say CPU clock 390 Mhz, when it is 3900 Mhz?

  • MSI Geforce GTX 750 Ti won't install on HP Pavillion

hello. i tried to install my MSI Geforce GTX 750 Ti into my HP Pavilion p7-1045.
the computer just freezes at the blue HP screen and starts beeping 5 times, and shuts off. power was not an issue either, since i sucessfully replaced my 250w power supply with a 600w. the power supply i upgraded my PC with was a RAIDMAX Cobra 600w Power Supply.
i tried to update my BIOS, but it didn't work. i tried using the hybrid bios switch, but that didn't work either.
    any help would be appreciated

The bios of that old HP machine just includes an ME7 firmware but using a GTX7xx or later requires an ME8 firmware including bios. As you are not the first with such machine here it's a pretty sure thing that there is no update available. Still you can contact HP about it. Most likely though you can't use the card with that machine. It is not a matter of UEFI/GOP or legacy vbios.
i see... well, i have already contacted HP and they said there is nothing that can be done about it. i guess i will have to return the GPU....
looks like i should get a graphics card compatible with ME7 firmware. do you have any suggestions?

  • Z77A-GD65 not detecting Geforce GTX 970

I recently tried upgrading the GPU on my Z77A-GD65 from the Geforce GTX 560 to the Geforce GTX 970 but my computer does not detect the new card in. I've tried about a dozen things to attempt getting it to work, flashing the BIOS using a couple different methods, resetting the CMOS using the battery, as far as formatting my computer but still nothing works. When I boot the computer the fans on the GPU will both spin until the login screen appears then they stop. I originally thought maybe the PSU wasn't good enough for it, but even with a new Corsair CX750M the problem still persists.
When the 970 is plugged in the computer will default to the onboard graphics, and when I attempt to install the drivers for the 970 it tells me it can't find compatible graphics hardware. When the 560 is plugged in, it gets detected right away skipping past the onboard graphics, and allows me to install its drivers. The drivers for the 560 and the 970 are the same, 347.88, so I attempted to install them using the 560 then switching the cards out, which actually worked to detect the 970 once but I mistakenly removed the drivers thinking to reinstall them now that the card was being detected which made the problem come back. I'm not sure what to do at this point so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Try with latest beta bios:
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download >>this bios archive<< and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
         F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt81_win78_xp.zip
If no help try the GTX 970 in another pc to verify it is working properly at all.

  • Crash after going idle - MSI Afterburner / GTX 970 SLI

    Greetings,
I love my new MSI GTX 970 Gaming Cards -- they work awesomely
However, I have a problem where if I'm running MSI Afterburner at all (i.e. load it, but don't do any overclocking), I receive a black screen and reboot 5-45 seconds after exiting any 3D application.  The applications all run fine, the crash does not occur if Afterburner is not open.  I've received the crash after Furmark, Elite Dangerous, Heaven Benchmark, Star Citizen, etc..   The idle crash NEVER happens so long as Afterburner isn't running..
I've used drivercleaner to clean out all old drivers,  I've uninstalled MSI afterburner and reinstalled (and cleaned directories/registry inbetween).
    Any suggestions/ideas?
Update - the crash does NOT occur if i'm running with SLI disabled.

  • MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti "Twin Frozr II" crash at 50 degrees Celsius

I get artifacts (pink squares all over screen) in heaven benchmark, fluid benchmark and gta 4,  a few seconds  later I get a black screen and then an error message there windows tell me the driver has crash but praise msi it was successfully recovered. All this then the card is nearing 50 degrees Celsius.
    I have:
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti "Twin Frozr II", (BIOS: 70.24.0a.00.00)
    Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H, Socket-AM3
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

    Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 4GB CL9
    Windows 7 64bit (with sp1)
    DC OUTPUT    +3.3V +5V  +12V -12V  +5Vsb
    MAX LOAD    24A    30A  52A   0.8A   3A
I tested driver on msi site and the latest nvidia driver, even tested some beta driver. All give the same result as stated above. I also tested to set the clocks at reference speed but no go. Also tested voltage at 1025.

Got a new card today, same card but new.
No problems now, seem the new card has newer bios and lower  core voltage. Maybe that is a way to fix it, just upgrade bios.

  • Can I run a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970?

I posted something similar before but can someone tell me if I have the right cooling, motherboard ect. to run a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card. I have a HP Pavilion 500-319na and the product number is G9B00EA#ABU. I know I need a better power supply which is why is I'm upgrading to 500w. Btw the reason I'm asking is because I have no idea about unscrewing my computer and checking the motherboard and all of that so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, You might want to search the forum for "500-319na" as there have been numerous posts with that model.

    Hi!
I´ve been thinking about buying a new Graphic Card "Asus Strix GeForce GTX 970 OC DirectCU II 4Gb", but when i went to see the requirements for Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop, that card is not recommended.
If i buy that graphic card, will it still work fine as the other cards or will it only work with that type of cards that are in the list?

It will work without any problems and is a top choice.
