MSI GeForce4 Ti 4600-VT2D8X problems

Hello all,  I have tried installing this with the drivers from the cd, Windows detection & let it search for the drivers, changed the BIOS to 1x AGP etc.  Have read through the forums & no luck on anyone else having this problem.  I have even reformatted a HD & tried it with a fresh install of XP with no luck.
?(  PROBLEM: The vid shows up all pixelated & blocks (like ascii code) also flickering some.  I haven't updated BIOS due to where I have read in the forums of some people having problems after flashing.  Been holding out for the new LiveUpdate.  Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
TIA !   :P
SEARogue

Thanx for the reply Richard.  Guess I wasn't clear on that part.  I changed it to 1x because I tried everything else & nothing worked.  The vid shares IRQ 16 with the onboard sound.
Thanx !

  • MSI GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB refresh problem

    Hi all!
I have following WinXP refresh problem:
When I set refresh rate to value bigger than 75Hz, system tells me that refresh rate was changed, but my monitor still shows me 75 Hz.
    My HW configuration:
    Athlon XP 2000+
    ABIT KD7 (VIA KT400 chipset)
    MSI GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB
    IBM DeskStar 45GB 7200 rpm
    17" AOC 7GLr
I have tried various graphic card drivers (both drivers that were on CD supported by MSI and downloaded detonators from nVidia), for my monitor i have correct drivers from AOC. I was able to set refresh rate to 100Hz using PowerStrip 3.3. In SiSoft Sandra Professional i found warning, that i should use PnP/DDC compatible monitor or video adapter.
Guys from AOC support told me, that problem is probably in my graphic card.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance.  :(

I experienced the same problem with a new msi 440mx VTD (8x). I tried the latest detonator drivers (41.07 and 41.09) and could not get more than 75Hz refresh in any resolution, though the configuration told me it was 85Hz. In Monitor Inf my Iiyama MT-9017T has the specs 96kHz and 55-160Hz, that used to give me 1024x768@100Hz with my old graphics adapter.
    my configuration:
    Athlon XP 1600+
    Epox KTA3pro (KT133a)
    WIN2000

  • MSI geforce4 MX 440 install problems

This seems to be the most appropriate forum to
post this in - but if i'm wrong, please point me to the right place.
    I recently got a MSI GeForce4 MX 440 board,
and installed it in a new system i built.
However, i'm having problems getting it working.
The machine is an AMD 2000+ processor with
a gigabyte motherboard, with AGP x 4 capability,
a gig of ram, a HD, CDR, floppy, and one PCI card - a soundcard, which i haven't installed yet.  I have a Philips 107T Monitor, which worked fine with an old system. I'm running Win98 (not SE).
Basically, the system works aside from the videocard.
I try to install the video card, it installs the driver.
Then i try to change the video mode to something more than 16 color 640x480, it asks me to restart.  I do,
and it either gives me a windows protection fault, or it just restarts automatically, and won't boot fine
unless i go to safe mode.  Unless i switch to a standard vga adapter for the display, it will do the same thing every time i restart.
First, i tried running all the windows98 updates.
Then i downloaded the newest nvidia driver 30.00.
Restarted, and it does the same exact thing.  I tried
to re-seat the video card, same thing happens.
It definitely displays - i'm using it right now in 16 color mode, but it won't actually run in any other mode,
or really even let you install it.
    Anybody have ideas?
    My thoughts are:
    - try a newer OS (although the box says it works with win95/98 and more)
    - try to swap it with another video card and see how my machine handles it - which is a problem since i don't have any others sitting around
email me if you have a good solution - [email protected]
    thanks very much!

    hi
i suggest you also ask here in the gigabyte forum

  • MSI MS-8900 (Ti4600-VT2D8X) Problems

Two major problems, and one lesser problem:
    1.  The fan on this thing is absolutely deafening,  I figure it must be a malfunction.  Anyone else feel this to be extremely noticable?
    2.  Packaging says 128MB memory, but all utilities (nVidia / MSI / Windows) show it as 64MB.  Anyone else have a similar problem?
    3.  Lesser problem -- I replaced an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro because I was receiving huge numbers of graphics device failures (they kinda came in spurts, when I would do something - like download / install Windows updates).  Before I went out to the nVidia site and installed the most current version of the drivers (43.45) I would experience the same thing.  Haven't had a graphics device failure since the driver updates, but get weird jittery screen every once in a while.
I'm returning to the ATI card until I get some answers.

    Serin,
I agree send the card back. I have had that version of MSI card and did not have any noise from the fan.
    Sorry,
    Richard

  • MSI Geforce4 MX 440 8X problems

    Sytem setup includes
    KT4Ultra
    Geforce 4 MX 440 8X
    Athlon 2100
    Aopen 300w PSU - FSP300-60 ATV (PF) 3.3v-28A 5v-30A 12v-15A
    2 case fans
    IBM 120Gb 7200 HD
    NANYA 512Mb 133 2700 DDR
    installed January 2003
The weekend before last the KT4Ultra died (confirmed by the shop). It booted up with the fans on, but stopped on the 4 red LEDs. The CPU and RAM were tested on another computer and proved working. Prior to this I had had problems with the computer not always booting up properly (not always getting to the Windows boot up) and odd things happening.
While I was waiting for the Ultra to be replaced, I bought another mobo - KT4V and and Athlon 2400 which I installed, The rest of the setup remained the same. I started having problems with the boot up where it stopped with diagnostic LEDs 3 and 4 RED (Testing VGA BIOS). Rebooting generally did not clear it. Swapped video cards in my old computer and both cards worked OK and both computers booted up. I put the Geforce back in the correct computer and it booted up OK.
It was also OK the next day, then decided to go back to stopping with 3 and 4 LEDs red and no amount of resetting or switching on and off could clear it. Gave up and went to work. When I got back in and tried it, the computer booted up, but gave a grid of white star type shapes all over the screen As the computer continued booting, the grid of starts then changed to vertical lines about half an inch apart. Resetting the computer made no difference. I tried the card in another computer and the result was the same. Put it back in the original computer - still the same.
It could be a coincidence, but it seems very strange having a mobo and a video card die when only around 3 months old.
I also did a norton diagnostic on the RAM this morning nad it came up with an error at address 5213 7984. When I rebooted the computer and retried the diagnostic, it came up with an error at address 7537 4592. I ran Memtest 86, but that didn't pick up any errors. I don't know how reliable Norton is (Norton Utilities 2001) or if the RAM is actually defective or not. I've put about 30 computers together in the past and not had any problems like this.
If anybody can give any suggestions as to what might be the cause of my problems, I'd be grateful.
    Thanks
    Roger

IMHO Norton is garbage...it's a marketing nightmare...McAfee has gone down the same road unfortunately and I do remember when they were a good AV solution...Norton on the other hand has been haunting users since their inception back in the days of DOS...it's just too bad that ppl believe they're the best because they sell so much product...reminds me of GAY-O-L...LOL
Sounds like your guy there is on the right track though so wait for your new card...let's hope this one is better :D
    Cheers!! 8)

I'll be using it with 3DSMAX for open gl.
and video input /output for various projects.. I'll need  at least 704x 480 resolution at real time playback/capture.
Has anyone tried using this card with these?

When I just touch the video card a little with the power off (without removing at all), it gets back normal when I restart...
The pins on the monitor cable maybe bent.  Can you try another monitor.
Could be something loose somewhere on card maybe?  Bad solder somewhere etc.  When card warms up it can lose connection.
What are the Power Supplies.  Can be the root of alot of problems exp with Gf4 (make and wattage of PSU can be the difference of it working or not)
Bluesky.  I'm not familier with grounded AC plug.  Does this have three wires, or is it a separate wire???

  • Msi KT3 MoBo / MSI geForce4 TI 4200 Problem

Hello, hopefully someone can help me.  I am having a rather unusual problem.  Least I think it is.  I have a MSI kt3 ultra2 motherboard, 512 meg ddr 2100 crucial ram.  AMD XP 2000+ CPU and an MSI Geforce4 TI4200 video card.  First of all, what agp settings should i use?  4x? 2x?.  Secondly, should i enable agp fast writes?  And last, what are the other 2 settings in the agp setup in the bios which are like 1/2 or 2/3?
I also ran mad onions 3d mark 2001 SE and got a score of 4898!  This seems a little low to me.  Comparing online, I should be getting scores rannging from 9000 to 13000.  I have installed Nvidia Detonator drivers but they are the latest beta drivers.  Are these bad drivers?  None of my games ever freeze except for Soldier of Fortune 2.  It slows way down and when i ctrl+alt+del, it says i am using 100% cpu usage.  Can anyone help me?  I just want my system i bought a week ago to run at its full potential and have nowhere else to turn.

I am using Windows XP Pro.  I am running the 3d Mark 2001 SE with a 1024 resolution and no AA.  I am also using a 32bpp color depth.  The defaults when you load the program up for the first time basically.  I never did get a patch for SOF II although I should have.  Man do I fell like such a n00b.
Hey Jamie B, you said i should "disable support for advanced cpu controls is NOT checked".  Where is that at?
Thanks to all who have replied. :D   I appreciate it.

  • Built-In TV Tuner in MSI Geforce4 MX460-VTP ?

I notice that MSI Geforce4 MX 460-VTP has TV-Encoder Philip 7108.  People also claim that after the installation of Capture driver, the Device Manager also shows these 4 devices in Sound, Video & Game Controller :
    - NVidia XP WDM Audio Capture
    - XP WDM Crossbar
    - XP WDM TVTuner
    - XP WDM Video Capture
As I also have Leadtek WInfast TV2000-XP, it also installed these 4 devices.  Does it mean that the card already has a TV Tuner function on-board and I can get rid of the Leadtek TV200-XP card ?
However, I remember correctly that the spec for this card doesn't mention anything about TVTuner function.
    Can anyone explain ?

    Hey there,
I've got exactly the same setup.
Using the MSI geforce 4 4600 and a Winfast XP/2000 TV Tuner
Huge Problems...like I can't get the Winfast card to work.
The system recognizes it and installs the Winfast version WDM drivers. Great right?!?!?! ,
Well after installing the Winfast APP (newest version), I get no TV?!?!
I can't remember exactly where the problems started.
But at one point, my system worked perfectly.
I think it may have something to do with either installing the WDM drivers on the MSI CD or Windows XP Pro.
I've emailed Leadtek support and they couldn't find a solution. So they've asked me to RMA the card.
    Some other things to note.
After removing the card and all instances of the drivers and app. I still get errors in my event viewer...all saying that the device is not present. No !!!
If you know how to get rid of the errors...please enlighten me.
    Does your setup work?!?!?!

  • NVidia GeForce4 Ti graphics card problems on my G4 1.25 MDD

I've had my Dual G4 1.25 MDD for 2 yrs now and since i bought it from Apple it has the nVidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 graphics card w/128MB DDR. Love the card, but now its acting up.
At random while playing my favorite Online Game, WoW, the Computer will have system lock ups that feel like its an issue with the Video Card. I get the Gray Translucent effect that goes over the screen then the Dialog box that pops up with You must Resart your computer, blah blah blah. I think thats a Kernel problem (not sure). Can't force quit and I am forced to power down with the Power Button and then re-power up to boot up. Often I have opened my case to blow the dust out of the case with compressed air and I notice the GPU Heatsink/Fan is extremely Hot, even hotter than the CPU Heatsink. Could the GPU Heatsink/Fan have gone bad? If so could this cause the Card to Fail?
I ran an Apple Hardware Test one time to check it out and the Quick Test passed but the Extended Test Failed giving me a bizarre Error Code for the Video Card. I didnt recall the Code but It leads me to think the Video Card Failed!
I still Have 1 yr left on my 3yr AppleCare. What Can I do? Perhaps the Card needs to be replaced? I can't afford a new Video Card.
Thank you any help or idea is appreciated.

the apple care people were very nice and helped me through some checking and did more AHT (didnt seem necessary but) and they told me the Error codes meant something to do with the Cooling FAn faulting. I got a case # and took it into my local Apple store.
the genius tech was great and listened intently. made me feel better about bringing it in.
the initial reports from the apple care tech on phone and the apple tech at the apple store estiimated the video card would need replacement. very nice people, down to earth and didnt make me feel stupid as some techs do.
after seeing the estimate made me glad for apple care... whoah, lets just say if I didnt have apple care, I wouldn't have gotten the computer repaired, I would of opted to attempt to just buy parts as I could.
now stuck checking this discussion site with my old BWG3, and I am hoping the 7days rolls by fast.
    Thanks for the help.

No problem with MS office applications .
    No problem with DVD .
The motherboard BIOS is updated .
The VGA driver is too ( version 4107 ) .
I don't want to cut off the PC speaker .

When warning (beeps with regular interval = about 500ms), the sound comes from the external speakers and I can see the "alert" in the history .
My problem is that these BEEPS comes from the internal speaker, and it sounds like this = 5 beeps in one second, two seconds nothing, 3 beeps in one second, long silence, then it starts again.
    This drives me grazy.

    HELP!!
    My System:

And With that system I am getting very low scores about 4070 at 3Dmark2001 SE! It seems to me impossible, it is near to my old Geforce 2MX.
I think there is some problem with my configuration, but yet I couldn't find anything.I tried alot of things, checked all drivers they are all up to date.(Via 4in1 drives:latest hyperion thing,NVidia WHQL certf. 40.72. etc..)I enabled fast write, enhanced agp performance control from bios and eveything I know from display settings i.e. Antialiasing disabled, d3d tweaked and still the problem persists.
I need someone who can help me under these hard and strange conditions.. ?(

I have to agree with sqersch, I've run at 60 mhz and got way more than 60 fps, refresh rate doesn't have alot to do with card performance.  Sure you get a fps boost when you increase the refresh rate but nothing significant and it certainly doesn't "cap" the frame rate, it can just improve it slightly.  Besides about the only thing you would want to increase the refresh rate for is so that it would be easier on the eyes, (less flicker).  As for the guy complaining about his benchmark, what exactly do you expect to get with an mx version of a geforce 4?  I'm not saying that score isn't wrong, just wondering what score you hope to achieve with an mx card.

  • MSI 694Pro (6321) AGP 4X problem

    hi all,
I have MSI 694Pro 1.0 (with Raid on it), and MSI GeForce4 MX440..... The problem is I can not run my sistem agp 4x ......  :(
I`ve upgraded bios to 3.7 (enabled agp4x), and installed the latest via4in1 and nvidia drivers .....
I just searched the forums on  this topic , found many other people had the same problem
Anyone solved this , or there is no solution ?
Any help would be much appreciated
    Dare

    Apologies,
Ignore what I wrote above as that HKey call doesn't seem to fix it. I just did a fresh install with a 6321 and tried the key and it was a no go. Bugger. It always used to work on AOpen boards (MX34 / P3V4X / AX34 / etc).
Weird bit is that Sandra lists my (so called) 8x card as only supporting 1x / 2x, and the board as only running at 2x. This makes me wonder if its more of a compatibility or communication issue.
But then again if anyone can tell the difference between 2x and 4x AGP you've better eyes then the rest of us.

  • Msi geforce4 mx 460 locking up pc, help!

    diamond pci sound card
    some isa 10/100 card

this is a fresh install of win xp, i tried the drivers on the msi cd, also the newest reference drivers from nvidia.com, that didn't help. i tried removing the sound card but no luck there. it mainly locks in games like GTA3 or NHRA Dragracing. it runs for about 30 seconds and locks. ctrl alt del doesn't work so i have to power down. it locks in windows also, but not as often. i don't see anything conflicting in my device manager. does anyone have anything i can try? thanks in advance!

oops, i must be a moron. under the 3.3v and 5v it says 120w, then under all the voltages (3.3v, 5v, 12v, -5v, -12, -9) it says 250w. so just to verify, i need one that has 200w with the 3.3v and 5v? or is it ok now? sorry...

  • MSI 870a-G54 Hard drive problem.

About a week ago i reinstalled Windows because it started to slow down (virusses and what not) And as soon as i reinstalled everything (programs games etc etc) One of my harddrives used for games did not show up at the bios and at My computer.
So this entire week i've been trying to get it to work again and i've narrowed down the problem today to the BIOS and/or motherboard not giving the power to the HDD in order for it to start and be recognized in BIOS and Windows.
What ive done to come to this conclusion:
    - Reinstalled Windows twice,
    - Replaced CMOS Battery,
    - Flashed the BIOS to every BIOS setting the MSI website had to offer. None worked for the HDD to get powered up again.
    - Moved CMOS jumper,
    - Changed SATA and powercables on harddrive,
    - Tried the HDD on another test PC i had and reformatted it there as well,
    - Only hooked up the not working HDD to the PC, (HDD did not spin up, and came to the conclusion at this point that motherboard or BIOS is the culprit)
    - Unplugged the powercable to the not working HDD and plugged it back in when the PC was running and i could feel it spinning up, after this i restarted the PC so that the HDD would still get power and it was recognized by the BIOS and Windows and i could use it. As soon as i shut down the PC entirely and restarted it the HDD would not spin up. And i had to unplug power to the HDD and plug it in again and restart PC for it to work properly.
    - Checked for bad sectors nothing found,
Everything else is working perfectly. Except that one HDD not getting the power when booting up the PC.
The HDD in question is the "Samsung HD502HJ 500gig" used for Steam games.
    PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black edition. Put on a new CPU cooler last summer (Cooler master Hyper 212 Plus)
    Mobo: MSI 870a-G54
PSU: Antec EarthWatts EA650 (650 Watts)
Graphics card: Powercolor PCS+ HD5870 Put on a custom cooler last summer (Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 5870)
    RAM: Kingston ValueRam 1333Mhz DDR3 (8gigs 4x 2gig) Bought 4 gigs extra last summer
HDD1: Seagate ST3160812 AS 160gig used for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (Works perfectly)
HDD2: Samsung HD204UI 2TB used for Storage / Other games than i have on Steam. (works perfectly) Bought last summer with the cooling/system upgrade
HDD3: Samsung HD502HJ 500gig used for Steam games. (Does not work anymore after reinstal) Bought 2 years ago along with the rest of the PC
I am completely at a loss here as to what the problem is. I do not have the funds to buy a new piece of hardware at this time (i think the entire week of struggle would back that up for me lol...). And ive basically tried everything what i know and what i've found through Google and friends. Might have been better going straight to MSI forum and post my problem here but narrowing it down to this not only helps me but the person that is going to post below in this thread as well lol.
Thanks in advance and i hope to hear from anyone soon.

Try drive in different PC, as it looks like it died.
HDD's always spinup as soon as power is applied, ergo I think the drive died.
Ive tried it already in 2 different PC's and i have to apologize here for not mentioning that earlier in the topic.
The drive spins up perfectly in both of those PC's and ive checked for bad sectors on both of those PC's as well and it showed that the drive was 100% healthy on both PC's
The drive was working perfectly fine before the reinstallation of windows. Thats why i dont think the drive has died. Because it would be weird that the drive just suddenly gave up right when im reinstalling windows..
It also doesnt add up when i plug the powercable back into the drive while the PC is running and it spins up then and works perfectly until PC is shut down. Thats why i had it narrowed down to the BIOS and/or Motherboard being the culprit.
My best guess is that its software related because the PC does boot up so its not a hardware problem.
    P.S.
A friend of mine said that it could be a powersaving issue. But ive looked into the BIOS and i could not find anything about it.

    Works on my MSI vr600
