MSI Graphics Card - R7850 - Black Flashes In Game / Monitor twitch.

Purchased the card and worked perfect for around a week, now I am getting this constant black flash in all my games, it last around 1 second and happens every 5-8 minutes.
This is very annoying and I am disappointed about paying £250 for this major issue.
Currently I have tried all versions of the drivers, 13.1 13.Beta, driver sweeper, fresh OS install the lot. I could understand maybe if it had done it form the start, but it worked fine and now it is doing this.
Temperatures are fine.
I5 3570K with Hyper 212 EVO cooler - Never above 50 at max
600W PSU
The odd thing is it only happens in certain games.
League Of Legends, Starcraft 2, but not in games for example DayZ
I would really would like fixing I am not happy paying this much money,
Is it drivers? ( If so can I return it, I am not waiting for drivers to fix a faulty product )
or do I need to RMA? Surely not if it doesnt happen in some games.
Will get video footage sometime

ISSUE SOLVED WITH MULTIPLE FIXES
Ok Guys, Im going to be updating how I fixed the issue for those that read, My monitor is a 1080p 75hz monitor, even though I KNOW its 60hz The Catalyst ( CCC )
Program ( EIED ) Was telling me it was 75hz. So I manually set it to 60hz and everything appeared fine. However the flickers started,
I donwloaded software called Radeon Pro and created a new profile.
I click add new profile, when to the ATI folder and added it. Forced the settings I wanted like in CCC and disabled overdrive ( It still downclocks which is nice )
however this is just personal taste, what actually solved the issue was there was an option to manually force a refresh rate of 60Hz.
All I do now is run the profile just to make sure each time ( Im sure its auto anyway) and the flicker has stopped. The reason I believe the issue was happening was my FPS were going past 75, then down to 50 quickly in fast games like SC2 and LoL and the flicker happened. So the refresh rates were getting confused even though it said 60hz in CCC and I tried Vsync.
ALSO!
Coinciding with the fix I also set my games to borederless at the same time of doing the fix mentioned above so that may be the fix or the RadeonPro thing. Yet to test it fullscreen so try that.
Authough forcing 2d clocks didnt work for me, here is how to do it.
Open CCC, top left make a new profile, Close CCC.
Enable Hidden folders ( Search folder options )
The go to Your name on your PC -
APP Data
LOCAL
ATI
and go to your new Profile
EDIT IN NOTEPAD
and look for
<Property name="Want_0" value="30000" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="80000" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="PowerControl_PCI_VEN_1002&DEV_679A&SUBSYS_27601462&REV_00_4&BAB4994&0&0008A">
<Property name="Want" value="0" />
</Feature>
<Feature name="MemoryClockTarget_PCI_VEN_1002&DEV_679A&SUBSYS_27601462&REV_00_4&BAB4994&0&0008A">
<Property name="Want_0" value="15000" />
Now look for this
Now the 30000
and 15000 part are your idle clock speeds, just raise them or make them match your cards default clock speeds,
Like so
<Property name="Want_0" value="80000" />
<Property name="Want_1" value="80000" />
now this didnt work for me as my above method did, but it may work for some,
remember though this means your card with be a little bit hotter ( didnt happen to me in testing though )
You can also raise the two voltages to stay the same.
But again the above RadeonPro methode worked for me.
Thought I would be a nice guy and update how I solved it for others having issues.
Peace, ZII

Do MSI "tend" to match their graphics cards with their motherboards? .... would I benefit from matching an MSI graphics card with my K8T Neo2 motherboard?
JLP

Noooooooo, not at all.
I have some K8N neo2 platinum combined with an msi nx6800gt and although
i'm very happy with game performance, there are times i would expect more.
My GT has lots of problems when not running at stock.
Even at 365/1050 there is some stuttering (rarely, and for about 2 seconds) but
still, there is.
It could as well have been any other brand.
And i bet it could have been a better o/cer.
The only thing i HIGHLY recommend msi gards, is their EXCELLENT bundle.
Mine came with 15 cds(!!!) : DOOM 3, XIII, URU, Prince of Persia and many more.

• Connecting my msi graphics card to television

How do I connect to the television if I have a msi graphics card with a tv-out?
I have MSI starforce 826 64MEG
Do I need any special software? All I want to do is to use the television instead of the monitor.

Thank you! It works!

• X800 pro graphic card crashes with any 3d game

Help !!!!!!!!!!!
I have a radeon x800 pro (256) card. I have tried this card in 2 machines, both with MSI boards (neo range).
The card will work for days and days on the net or watching movies, but after about 3-5 minutes playing a 3d game (FEAR...) the screen just goes crazy !!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas ???????????????????????????????
Thanks

I think you are encountering artifacts with your graphics card which leads to a few possibilities:
1) Overheating.
2) Insufficient Power.
3) Bad Installation of drivers.
4) DirectX not updated.
I would need you to post your full system specs + PSU specs amps for more verification purposes.

Hi @arkas
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having some graphic problems. Did you install that ATI driver from the AMD website? If so that is the problem. You have switchable graphics meaning that you have two video cards. The Intel card is designed for your everyday basic graphics processing while the ATI card is designed to handle the heavy lifting. Switchable graphics drivers are configured by the manufacturer of the notebook not the manufacturer of the graphics card.
I would suggest that you install your AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver and your Intel High-Definition Graphics Driver. If you are looking for more information on switchable graphics this HP document Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs.

There are no known issues between ur mobo and ur gfx card. Issues like these are moere chipset related then brand related.
Problem seems to be PSU related, an older 350w PSU will be unable to supply enough juice on 12v to feed a power hungry P4. Check the ammount of amps it delivers on the 12v rail(s). According to Intel specs u need at least 20 amps on 12v.
I don't think it's bios related. Bios issues rarely expose themselves in instabtable behavure.
Don't think it's Dx9 related, cus ur rig also freezes without using Dx9 extensions, eg surfing the internet.
The driver version u use is a decend one, and shouldn't cause the problems that you encounter.
I put my money on the PSU as trouble causer.
Good luck and keep us informed on ur progress.

• Graphics card and black screen

Hello people and sorry for my english.two days before i was ready to play game and my laptop crashed.i tried to ctrl+alt+del but nothing.when i tried to reboot i had problems.my laptop started but i couldn't see anything.in safe mode i could.then i went to the expert to solve it. my laptop has ati mobility radeon hd5470 and intel hd graphics.he said that laptop gives me a black screen when i turn on the computer. Everything turns on from what i hear but I can't see anything (only with intel hd graphics enabled).when i disable it and enable the ati mobility i dont have problems but its very slow.i tried to install new updates and sometimes i have bsod sometimes with errors like this--->

laptop specs: hp g62 a80sv notebook
intel core i3 cpu m330 @2,13ghz (4 cpu's)
4 gigs ram
i had windows 7 home edition and now win.7 ultimate 64 bit

See this KB article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
I have similar issues with my MBP. However there is also a widespread issue on the forums in which the trackpad and keyboard stops responding, and it may be difficult to tell if the problem is loss of video or loss of input ability when the display goes to sleep automatically. I'm currently in this boat. I'm not quite sure if I have a video problem of if this is the issue with the trackpad/keyboard connection.
The video card issue appears that apple will pay for out of warranty but they are not addressing the widespread problem with trackpad and keyboard loss of function and if you are out of warranty you are out of luck.

• Curious about graphic card drivers for FLASHED cards-

Since Apple only provides video drivers as part of the OS, where do mutant, flashed cards get their driver support from?
I'm not having problems of any kind, the thought suddenly popped in my head, after many years of happily running flashed cards on a DB DP MDD G4 and a G5 Quad.
Thanks in advance.

where do mutant, flashed cards get their driver support from?
Those same drivers.
See, that's part of the "magic" of flashing; changing the codes within the ROM of the flashed card to make that card "look" like an Apple OEM. As long as the ROM coded ID is the same as an Apple OEM cousin, an ID that is included in OS X drivers, then OS X allows access to and full use of the drivers.
Knowing this, one can see why only cards that are very similar to Apple OEM, i.e. same GPU families, are the only ones that can be flashed.
You can't just change the ID of a card that has completely different architecture. There are voltages, VRAM timings, pipeline actualizations, scores of functions that are coded in the ROM but must have relevance to the architecture of the card in which the ROM resides.
OS X has drivers for many families of GPUs, but anything outside that will be unuseable, with no way to add driver support via download (like Windows).
I say "no way", but in some cases, actually hacking the drivers of OS X can allow some close 2nd and 3rd cousins to enjoy some driver support......
In your 7800 GTX cards case, there are drivers for both 7800 GT series and 4500FX series cards in OS X. The GTX has similarities to both, but usually derives support from the 4500FX drivers.

• MSI graphic card, 71.89 drivers and DOT - question

Hello,
I'd like to ask you about something. I've got a MSI GF 6600 DIAMOND card and installed 71.89 drivers right from NVIDIA, but I'd also like to use D.O.T, which AFAIK only works on MSI drivers.
So, is there any possibility to force using DOT with 71.89 drivers?
Thx for help!

Just put this files included in the MSI drivers in the windows system (c:\Windows\System32\ or c:\Windows\System\) directory

• MSI GT70 2PE-1231XPL graphic card

Hey guys,
I just upgraded my notebook from windows 7 do windows 8.1
I have big laggs (fps drops) in games, there is a problem with graphic card.
When i opening game the power light changing from white to orange but after few seconds back to white so i think that games using already only integrated graphic card.
How can I fix that? What can I do, please help me.

Anyone can help me?
Maybe i explain more..
I don't know why but some games are working only on integrated graphic card - Steam Games, but League of Legends automatically working fine.
There is a chance to callibrate or something like that? I don't want to manual click to open applications with nvidia gpu.

• GE620DX - utility an integrated graphics card

Hello, new MSI notebook user here. I've got my notebook last week and I'm experiencing 2 major problems.
And before you ask, yes I've read the stickies and used the search option.
1. My function keys, and therefore my webcam, my Wi-Fi card and other controls can't be used/turned on. I've installed everything on the CD and nothing seems to work. I've chcecked on MSI.com in the download section but it's pretty much the same I have on the CD. What should I do, where should I download these utilities from?
2. The integrated graphics card from Intel. I can't run some games because of it (eg. Orcs Must Die!) or get low/unstable framerates (eg. League of Legends, Starcraft II). I know it's a notebook but since it's being sold as a gaming device and sports a pretty decent GPU from Nvidia I reckon this shouldn't happen, especially on 1-2 year-old games. Anyway, I can't disable it from Windows (it turns off the display) or BIOS (don't see such an option). Again, what should I do, how do you solve this?
Thanks in advance

I know this is an old thread but he might still need help.
1. This is working fine for me, just download the latest updates from MSI's homepage, also use flash the latest BIOS and Firmware, there is a guide on the MSI homepage to. The drivers on the CD is outdated.
2. You can't disable the intel graphics, but you can choose wich graphic card to use on the games. You can rightclick on the games shortcut or the .exe launcher. Then you select Use graphic processor -> Nvidia high performance.
You can also enter nvidia graphics panel by right clicking on your desktop, in here you go 3D-settings -> Program settings. Just add the game, for example League of Legends, and choose always run with Nvidia high performance. Then the intel graphics wont bother you.
Hope this helps.
Yours,
Blix

• Crashing FCP (two graphics cards?)

I'm in an unfamiliar studio, newly set up. I'm working with FCP 7 (with all the latest updates).
New Mac Pro tower:
MacPro5,1
6-Core Intel Xeon
2.66 GHz
2 processors
total number of Cores: 12
and 2 ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics cards
Problem #1: can't get the 2nd monitor to playback full screen; screen is just black. When I first started up the machine, this was an issue. I turned off Exposé and made the keyboard functions 'standard' and it seemed to work properly for half a day. When I came back a week later (no one touching it in the meanwhile) it wouldn't display playback full screen.
There is an Apple Tech article that says 2 graphics cards can cause monitor issues. I went to pull one graphics card, but there is no 2nd hub on this computer to be able to run two monitors from one graphics card. And I need two monitors, this is a big job.
Now I'm getting FCP crashing every ten or twenty minutes. Scrolling the timeline I get odd primary colors flashing (mostly green), and while scrolling one clip I'm getting flashes of a dozen clips popping onto the screen. I've trashed the .plist file. I've repaired permissions.
I'm wondering if the 2 graphics cards can be causing these problems? Or if there are any issues with those PARTICULAR graphics cards. Or what I need to do to pull one card, but be able to have the two monitors running off the other (given this computer hasn't a second plug for the 2nd monitor to go into one card)?
Or if it might be something entirely different?
I'm on Fogo Island out in the North Atlantic ... no instant tech support nearby.
All ears,
Ben

Quickie question.
I'm disconnecting one of the cards, to see if that has any effect on the crashing. I'll use one monitor for awhile.
I see that there are two ports out of the remaining card, one is a DVI out, the other is a display port ... looks like two USB slots side by side (but bigger holes). Can I get an adapter for this display port thing, to go to the DVI cable coming from the monitor? So I can use the one graphic card ATI Radeon HD 5770 to run the two monitors?
I know that the two cards are causing the monitors to NOT respond as they should, but has it been determined that they are also responsible for causing FCP crashes?
Or should I be checking my RAM etc.?
