MSI Graphics Drivers and Microsoft AntiSpyware

Microsoft have released an AntiSpyware Program today.
On downloading and running this program it came up with 1 Severe warning on my PC....which I may add has an MSI Motherboard and MSI Graphics Card.
It found in C:\windows\system32\winsys.exe
KCGame(RAT)
This is what is said:
KCGame
Type: RAT
Threat Level: Severe
Author: c0ldfyr3
Description: A Remote Administration Tool (RAT) is a Trojan type of software that when run, provides an attacker with the capability of remotely controlling a user's computer (victim) over the Internet. The attacker usually has full access to functions on the victim's computer. The victim's computer usually listens on the Internet for the attacker's commands.
Advice: This is an extremely high risk threat and should be removed immediately as to prevent harm to your computer or your privacy.
File Name: DOT Application
File Path: C:\windows\system32\winsys.exe
Publisher: NONE
File Size: 135168 bytes
Now I remember that DOT application is possibly the same as Dynamic Over-Clocking Technology which comes supplied with the Graphics card drivers from MSI.
What I would like is some re-assurance that this Trojan is not within this file which was possibly supplied for an MSI product.
Anyone from MSI able to confirm this?

This is Ok, over a year ago I mentioned it to my MSI contact about this and they obviously have not done anything to change the name.
It is being improperly identified.
I will tell them again...

    Love these year old threads.
Flashing is what some other sites specialize in, or even troubleshooting non-Apple cards.
There is an AMD Mac Edition 7950. Now. As well as EVGA GTX 680.
All of those were tested and reported on by Barefeats - back in March-May 2013.
Apple? not interested in PC cards other than they have quietly added more driver support in 10.8.3 and especially above. Not in 10.8.2.
Be interesting to see what Maverick support provides as far as GPUs.
And netkas and others are up on PC graphic cards, not Apple, even if they don't write drivers, they do often write how to flash a PC card and support. Apple and this discussion, no.

How and where can I get intel hd 4000 graphics drivers and controll panel to 3d settings ... I want to turn off my vertical sync! please someone has to help me with this problem!

So are there any other ways to get there, or to change options there?
And is it plausible to use 3d vision (like nvidia its one) but than without an nvidia graphics card. for watching movie's and gaming etc.

  • Hardware OEM's, customized drivers, and Microsoft's future.

Has Microsoft ever thought about adding into it's OEM licensing terms a stipulation where OEM hardware builds that use cusomized device drivers, available generic driver updates be supported/customized and distributed through the lifecycle of the preinstalled
OS (and/or a specified amount of time such as 3 or 5 years)?
This sort of thing has been an issue for MS OS's for some time.  Case: present personal laptop (barely over 1 year old) which uses customized graphics drivers from Intel and AMD.  DX11 games set to render at less than native panel res don't scale
fullscreen without "fiddling".  My understanding is this is due to a difference in DX11 API syntax (the issue doesn't affect DX9/10 games which scale full screen properly), and that this was an "early DX11 issue" that was fixed long
ago via driver updates from both Intel and AMD (Installing generic drivers "breaks" the hybrid functionality disabling the discrete GPU).  This OE has not made updated drivers available (available customized drivers date to 2013 likely before
retail unit sales) on a hardware platform that was until just a few months ago still available direct from OE as a new purchase.  But as often the case with OE's something might freeze over before they provide an update for a model that's been discontinued,
often they don't even seem to care about products currently for sale.
My advice is - with competing platforms gaining traction (which are generally very good at providing updates and fixes through their products' expected life cycles), I'm not sure Microsoft can afford to ignore/let this sort of stuff slide any longer.
MS, of anybody, is in the best position for force hardware OE's hand in this.
"new" licensing terms with OEMs probably less "messy" if instituted with the rollout of a new OS, or so it would seem to me...

  • MSI graphics cards and MSI motherboards

Do MSI "tend" to match their graphics cards with their motherboards? .... would I benefit from matching an MSI graphics card with my K8T Neo2 motherboard?
    JLP

    Noooooooo, not at all.
I have some K8N neo2 platinum combined with an msi nx6800gt and although
i'm very happy with game performance, there are times i would expect more.
My GT has lots of problems when not running at stock.
Even at 365/1050 there is some stuttering (rarely, and for about 2 seconds) but
    still, there is.
It could as well have been any other brand.
And i bet it could have been a better o/cer.
The only thing i HIGHLY recommend msi gards, is their EXCELLENT bundle.
Mine came with 15 cds(!!!) :  DOOM 3, XIII, URU, Prince of Persia and many more.

  • Graphic drivers and latest kernel

After I upgraded my computer to the latest kernel I got problems with my graphicdrivers.
KDEmod starts normaly and t is no problems to just use it.
But when I run glxgears I got just 7 FPS.
When it works normal I got 700-800 FPS, and if I reinstall my drivers and start up kdemod it be normal, then after some hours in use the FPS running low.

You might want to tell us which driver you're using...

  • Premier Elements will not start (needs latest graphic drivers) and HP says I have the latest drivers

AMD says I don't have the latest, but I need to download the latest from HP - and HP says I have the latest.
Is my only option to return the Premier and Photoshop Elements 12?
Is there an alternate mode that allows Premier Elements to work with somewhat older drivers with some degradation in rendering speed?
Is Premier Elements only intended for the latest computers?  My laptop is 1.5 years old.
    Thanks

Thanks for the update. Sorry for the delayed response...got detoured.
What is your situation with regard to working in the Premiere Elements 12 workspace Expert, Quick, Expert Guided, or Quick Guided? Are the displays and editing opportunities all functioning at this time?
As for the Elements Organizer thumbnail display of your video....how did you import that file into the Elements Organizer..
    a. did you import the video via the Editor workspace and then let the video be automatically placed in the Elements Organizer
    or
    b. did you import the video in the Elements Organizer via the Elements Organizer's File Menu/Get Photos and Videos from...
What are the video and audio compressions and file extension for this video with the blank Elements Organizer thumbnail?
The first thing to try is deleting the video from Elements Organizer. Then importing the video into a Premiere Elements 12 Expert project to get it into the Elements Organizer by the automatic route.
Do not forget to right click the Elements Organizer thumbnail and select Update Thumbnail when you see the thumbnail blank (no trace of the first frame of the video).
I am trying these non-chip routes right now to get them rule in or out. We could add creating a new catalog and deleting the Elements Organizer setting file, but let us see how you do on the rest in this post.
From what you wrote, it sounded like Adobe Help took you a long way and got Premiere Elements 12 working, for everything but the Elements Organizer thumbnail playback. Give them another chance when it comes to the chips on this. Ask for a supervisor if necessary.
Based on your expected reply to the questions and suggestions above, I think it practical to pursue the above rather than switch to another program at this time.
    What do you think?
We will be watching for your progress.
    Thanks.

  • JDBC-ODBC Bridge Drivers and Microsoft Access

Are there any good tutorials on setting this up? Forgive me if there is one on this site - I couldn't find it. I just know (from some other sites) that it can be a pain to set up and get working right.

I mean installing and configuring JDBC-ODBC to be
able to connect to Access...I know about JDBC and
it's API. I just need to know how to configure
everything so that I can use the API.If you have a version of windows (at least back to 95) that doesn't have the MS Access ODBC driver and/or doesn't have the ODBC shell then something is wrong with your windows.

  • Trying to update Graphics drivers...and others

    Hello,
I am having a few issues with my laptop.  Think I need to upgrade the graphics drivers. Possibly update other things as well.  Doesn't seem like it's any of the basic "Windows Updates" either.  When I download the Intel driver update, it tells me I need to go to the computer manufacturer...which of course is Toshiba...instead of thru them.
Any guidance?  How do I update the graphic drivers and check for other updates, drivers or whatever else, for my Toshiba laptop?
    Laptop = Satellite P55t - A5118 running on Intel i7.
    Plz lemme know...thx.

Get all your drivers from the Toshiba site above.
Many use the Toshiba application "Service Station" to alert them for updates. It's already on your computer, but the latest version can be obtained from here.

  • MSI Live Update and X1950Pro

    Hi all.
I'm still having problems with getting my X1950Pro to run without crashing on 3D games, but mainly World of Warcraft. Have tried many different things, such as using different graphics drivers and upgrading my RAM, which I did yesterday. But I'm still stuck. ATM, I'm back to using my friends NVidia 6600GT  :( until I can find a feasible solution.
Somebody suggested checking my mobo drivers, so I ran Live Update last night and it came up with quite a few updates.
I'll list the ones that I think are relevant and I do realise that once the x1950 is back in, the updates for the VGA Drivers will change. I must apologise for the large amount of space that I'm about to use up, but I'm really getting frustrated at buying a card that I can't use for the purpose that I bought it for
    Here goes:
1xupdate Driver - nForce System Drivers current ver.2.78  online ver.3.75
13xupdateVGA - on all updates, current ver "unknown".
9xupdates are for different NVidia cards, so I shall ignore them until I put ATI card back in.
4xupdates are all "for all of MSI VGA cards"
    2xupdate Utility - iSpeeder - not installed   online ver.1.2
infoview XP - not installed   online ver.1.750 - 1.Fixed VGA info error
                                                                                           2. Fixed AGP rate error on WinXP
I hope I've made this understandable. Can anyone see anything here that may sort out my troubles?

Thanks very much for your replies.
Max cpu temp under load I've seen is around 47C. When the x1950 manages to run WoW, I haven't seen it go higher than 70C. It generally stays in the low 60Cs.
Your link doesn't work for me Fredrik  :(
Aaron, I believe your kind link is to lead me to the ATI drivers. I have the latest ATI drivers installed (I've put the x1950 back in again). I was just wondering if there could be some conflict between my mobo and the x1950. and maybe a bios or chipset update.
I completely purged all the drivers with Drivercleaner. Didn't realise that the Drivercleaner I had been using was a very old version, so I bought the latest version. Hopefully this may be what my problem has been, because the next logical step I think, would be to format  or buy a more powerful PSU although my current PSU is supposed to be powerful enough.
I haven't tried WoW yet, because I'll be really sad if this hasn't worked.
I've just found that my graphic card is sharing the same IRQ as my soundcard. I've got a feeling that this is bad.......don't know why and I don't know how to change it if it is bad.

  • Graphic Drivers Issue- All-in-one PC

I have an All-in-one Compaq Presario CQ 1-1006L and I'm failing to play most 3-d games (eq Call of Duty Mordern Warfare 4) . I tried upgrading the graphic drivers and they're all up to date but still not working. Is it possible to change the Video card or to do anything to have the computer play such games. or it's a complete waste of time? What can i do to upgrade this particular computer if possible?
    Thank you

    Hello Elton_Phiri,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are having difficulty playing 3d Games on your Compaq Presario All-in-One CQ1-1006L Desktop PC. I cannot find anything that indicates that your integrated graphics chip in your computer supports 3D so this is probably why you are having issues. You motherboard on the other hand does have two PCI Express x1 mini card sockets that you could use to install a separate graphics card that does support 3D graphics. It may require shopping around and I would advise you to keep in mind the power requirements  cannot exceed your 65watt power supply without you having to replace that as well.
I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Update v460 switchable graphics drivers

I've tried to update the graphics drivers from nvidia and that completely screws up the switchable graphics functioning and pretty much the resolution goes to crap and I have to do a system revert to fix it. Does anybody know if lenovo has released updated switchable graphics drivers for the v460? because in many programs (games) it says to update the graphics drivers and the screen flickers and the computer becomes generally unusable.
    thanks!

try to perform clean windows installation by pressing one key recover first.
then check if you have any issue with your graphic card, if not avoid updating drivers, if you do, just try to update drivers from the link below.

    3. Boot from MS-DOS boot diskette and get a:\> prompt.
    4. Type "", then press ENTER
    5. The flash program will then ask "Do you want to save BIOS?", please press "N" for no. The when you see Press 'Y' to program or 'N' to Exit, please press "Y" to continue.
    6. After flashing complete, remove floppy and reset the system .
    7. Press DELETE or F1 when prompted at first reboot after flashing.
    8. Load BIOS optimized defaults, then save settings and exits.
    Drivers & Needed Files:
(Note: All these drivers are for Windows XP.)
Leaked Nvidia nForce3 Chipset Drivers Version 4.40
(Please use at your own risk, these are LEAKED drivers. Password for the .zip file is "ocworkbench rules". Also, you will need to rename the WinXP_2K folder in IDE to either WinXP or Win2K else the installer doesn't pick it up.) Thanks for the link Wonkanoby!
*NEW* Leaked Nvidia nForce3 Chipset Drivers Version 5.03
More leaked drivers? Seems some parts of the drivers are older and some are newer.
    1. Windows XP Service Pack 1A (Web Install) -or- Windows XP Service Pack 1A (Full Install)
    2. Microsoft DirectX 9.0b (Web Install) -or- Microsoft DirectX 9.0b (Full Install)
    3. Nvidia nForce3 Chipset Drivers Version 4.24
    4. AMD Athlon 64 Processor Driver Version 1.1.0.14
    5. Nvidia Video Card Driver Version 56.72 -or- Omega Nvidia Video Card Driver Version v1.5303
(The Omega drivers are third party drivers optimized for gaming, most prefer these over the standard Nvidia drivers.)
    5. ATI Video Card Driver Version 4.7 -or- Omega ATI Video Card Driver Version 2.5.51
(The Omega drivers are third party drivers optimized for gaming, most prefer these over the standard ATI drivers.)
    6. Onboard Sound Driver (Realtek AC'97 Audio Codec) Version A3.61
It is HIGHLY reccomended that you install the drivers/needed files in the order listed above. Please note that there are two #5's because you either install one or the other depending on your video card, do not install both of them.
You will come across a problem here though. You can't install the chipset drivers without installing the Windows service pack and DirectX first, but the Windows service pack and DirectX installs need the internet to download files and you won't have working internet until you install the chipset drivers. Here's what I did to get around this. Instead of downloading the web install versions of Windows service pack and DirectX, download the full version and and put them along with all the other drivers on a backup hard drive or burn them to a CD, this way you will have all the drivers you need when it's time to install them and none of them will require the internet to download files.
Another note when installing drivers. Apparently the Nvidia chipset drivers also come with drivers for the onboard sound, but people seem to agree that the Realtek onboard sound drivers are better. When you are installing the Nvidia chipset drivers, just be sure to uncheck the box for sound drivers when it asks you which drivers you would like to install. Now you can safely install the Realtek drivers without any chance of conflicting sound drivers. Thanks for the tip Wonkanoby!

oh.  IIRC the installer just says USB 2.0 will be fully functional after SP1 is installed.  So after you install SP1 you go into device manager and u click update driver and it will auto search and update the driver.
Simplicity-wise, i guess its pretty much equal.  It might take less preparation to just copy DX9 full onto a CD and install that first, then nforce driver, then right away you have yoru internet connection.
but i dunno.. i guess i will try it your way this time when my RMA"d board comes.
i will be fomratting and doing a fresh install later on today and will let you know if i come across any problems

  • MSI Drivers and Utilities DVD won't work

Hello, I've just purchased the parts to construct an entirely new computer, and I've chosen MSI Z77A-G41 motherboard.  I put everything together, and I loaded Win XP on, and my plan is to upgrade to Win 8 during their special offer.  I needed to go into Setup and change the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE, so that I could install XP. Once I had XP up and running, I inserted the MSI Drivers and Utilities DVD to load all of the drivers.  However, when I put the disc in, it auto-runs, the driver/utility screen is shown 'blacked out' and I immediately receive a Windows error message: "DVD Setup Application" error.  I went in through Windows Explorer to the programs on the DVD, and found DVD setup. By trying to run this from within Explorer, it takes me to the same error as when I auto-run.
The only thing I can think of is that I need to change something else in Setup, to run Win XP because it's so old?  I'm pretty sure that there's nothing wrong with the new DVD burner, because I've used it to install XP, and also to extract and install Service Pack 2 and 3 (which I downloaded on another computer and transferred on a CD).  If I knew exactly what needed to be installed from the MSI DVD, I could try doing it from within Windows Explorer.  But, I'd still like to figure out what the Setup Application error message is telling me.
Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated.
    Thanks!

A further note before I head off to bed.  I was able to install Win XP service packs 2 and 3 using my new burner, and I've activated with Microsoft and downloaded and installed 117 updates. I have now used this same DVD burner that won't recognize or work with the MSI driver/utilities DVD, to install all of the drivers for my video card---that DVD auto-ran just fine.  So, after doing some searches on Google about the "DVD Setup Application" error, not a lot of help but most people say that if another DVD will spin up and load things OK---it must be the fault of the DVD that won't load.  In other words, I don't think that there's a problem with anything in the Setup on the motherboard.
So, if anyone has any further ideas, please let me know.  Otherwise, I'm going to contact MSI tomorrow and see about a replacement DVD. Thanks.
