MSI GT60 2OC mSATA Ports

Hello, does the MSI GT60 2OC have mSATA ports for SSDs or for two SATA HDDs only?

It depends on which model I believe.
Some of the GT60's can come with the SuperRaid card, which should have support for up to 3 mSATA SSD's. If it did not come with the SuperRaid card, then it should have support for 2 x 2.5" HDD's.
The easiest way to find this out is to remove the bottom panel (about 12 screws I believe) and just look at the 2 disk drive bays. One should have a disk, and the other will either have the SuperRaid card/PCB, or it will have a SATA connector.

  • MSI GT60 2OC - Is my GPU Dead?

    Hello,
I bought MSI GT60 2OC few days ago and it seems that there is something wrong with the main GPU. I've noticed poor performance in game and when I try to update nvidia drivers I got a message that the hardware cannot be found. When I try to acces the nvidia control panel I got a message the user do not use a monitor connected to NVIDIA graphic card. What should I do? I bought it in Poland few days ago (I'm in UK now and it would be expensive to send it back to the store). I live in Coventry and I found following address on the MSI website:
    United Kingdom
    D&J HENRY LTD,
Address: Unit 3B Quinn Close, Seven Stars Industrial Estate,Coventry CV3 4LH
    Tel:(024) 76886800
    Fax:(024) 76886801
Can I just take it there to get it fixed? It's just few miles from my place.
Or maybe I need to install something/update windows 8?
I'm using original OS and all drivers from the cd that I got with the laptop (used one touch instalation).
    Regards
    Greg

    Try those drivers.
Most likely the problem is either the computer isn't switching to the NVidia card when the game is launched, or the GPU/CPU are overheating and throttling back. This could be caused by bad thermal compound or it being installed incorrectly (which isn't unheard of).
I manage to install it but still can't access the nvidia panel and can't even get through borderlands 2 menu.
Tomorrow I will call msi support and hopefully they will be able to get it fixed. Anyone already tried this UK warranty repair service based in Coventry?

  • MSI GT60 2OC Wifi Problems?

After getting my new GT60 2OC, i updated the system through windows update and manually downloaded the most up to date drivers for the killer wireless 1202 n and the nvidia 770m graphics card. However after installing the wifi driver for the laptop, i started having random disconnects and after finding out that it's not a problem with the router/ISP, i installed the wifi driver again using the disk that came with the laptop. Now, the wifi works only after installing, and if i reboot, the driver would become unrecognized by windows. Any help please?
Edit: Also the cd drive is EXTREMELY loud (as loud as the fan boost) is this normal?
Edit 2: Managed to get my wifi working again. The solution was to uninstall the wifi driver in device manager after installing the killer suite, then scan for hardware changes, and apply a copy of only the wifi driver. Everything is working fine now, i'll post again if i need any more help. I think the problem was that the bluetooth drivers were somehow disabling/conflicting with the wifi driver during the installation. (Wifi works before the bluetooth driver installs, but once the installation is done, the wifi driver stops working instantly or after restarting the computer)

I have the TSST corp CDDVDW SN-208DB for my cd drive, I haven't tried any other CD Disks besides the one driver/utility disk that came with the laptop so it might be a problem with the disk. I'll see if its the problem with the disk if i can find a CD disk somewhere in the house. Also the wifi connection problem is back once again, Internet would randomly drop but i can still connect to the internet using my phone that's connected to the same wifi.
Edit: After testing with a different CD Disk, i can confirm that the problem lies with the CD Drive and not the disk.
Edit: Also i have the newest version of the driver which i downloaded from the Killer Gaming website:http://www.killergaming.com/support/driverdownloadsupport
My Wifi/Lan card is the KillerE2200.
For the DVD drive issue, most likely an RMA is the only way to fix it.
For the WIFI/LAN, your LAN is a E2200, but it is NOT the WIFI. This can be different for some notebooks, and I'm not certain what the config is for the GT60 20C. You might have a Killer Networks 1202 WIFI card, or maybe some Intel card, I'm not entirely sure. You'll need to look into it and figure it out yourself as far as which card you have. From there, we can then try to look into the problem more. But without knowing the proper WIFI card, it's going to be difficult.

  • MSI GT60 2OC - NVIDIA 770M drivers

    Hi All ,
I have been trying to update my graphics card from the nviidia Website, even tried using the modified inf's from laptopvideo2go. But I have not managed to install the updated driver, the only way to work is by updating my driver from the Laptop's page of drivers which is a 311.83 driver which is quite backdated. Could someone direct me to a way how to update the graphics card?
On device manager windows 8 is recognizing the card as a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter when 311.83 is installed.
I tried cleaning the system of drivers, even had a fresh install of windows. When i try install the official nvidia drivers, i get the "Graphics driver cannot find compatible graphics hardware " error.
    Thanks

Check your hardware ID, if it matches either
    NVIDIA_DEV.11E0.10E8.1462 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M" or
    NVIDIA_DEV.11E0.10ED.1462 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M "

  • GT60 2OC - Windows Experience Index scores - Question!

I had a MSI GT70 0NC before this one and now I'm a bit confused with the Windows Experience Index on the graphics and HDD scores, on the GT70 the graphics score was 7.3 and 7.3 (Nvidia GT 670m) and on the MSI GT60 2OC I get 7.2 and 7.2 (Nvidia GT 770m), is this score good? I mean that I get lower score on a new/better graphics board?
The other question is about the 2 Msata drives in raid 0, the score on the old one was 7.9 (with a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD) and now with the 2 Msata in raid 0 I get 7.8, is this score good? What is better: the 2 Msata or the single Samsung SSD? ...

I've contacted MSI UK sales department and was advised to try with customer support ( [email protected] ) and now I'm waiting for an answer... meanwhile I had some time to test and install the Samsung 840 PRO (removed the 750GB HDD) and made some tests on all drives, this is what I got using CrystalDisk Mark and Samsung Magician:
The 2nd picture is made with RAPID mode activated (it was looking a but too boosted on CrystalDisk Mark)
Now the laptop feels again fast and "furious"  the bad part is that I don't have any other space to keep my files at the moment, just the 120GB from the 2 mSata and what is left from the SSD... I hope I can get an SATA board so I can use the SSD as Primary and the HDD as secondary/data drive.

  • GT60 2OC Quick Launch Sensor Problem

Hello, my MSI GT60 2OC notebook is having a problem, the Keyboard LED Backlight Switch Quick Launch Sensor is not responding to any key presses and the button is not even lighting up when pressed, so I can't turn off the backlight with the keyboard. Is it possible that the function was left out from the EC firmware? Could it be fixed?
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with all the drivers installed, including the latest version of the SCM and KLM utilities.

Slightly off-topic and Im sorry for that.
darkhawk, you mean to say that installing win 7 on this laptop is not supported and therefore not recommended? I have all sorts of problems with win 8 (see my recent thread) and combined with really hating the UI of win 8 (like  ) made me consider actually buying a win 7 version just to get rid of win 8? But that would be a bad idea?
It's not supported so far as we've been told. While drivers are made available, and in most cases everything works fine for the user (in so far as they know), some things just do not work. The above case is the perfect example where some things just do not work.
While the moderators here do have contacts with MSI that we can talk to, there is only so much that we can do to push certain issues. This issue is one of them. We have been told a few details, most of which I outlined above (MSI Engineers believe the EC firmware is working perfectly fine, and all functions of the laptop should work in both Win 7 and Win 8, this goes for both the GT60/GT70 0NX's and 2OX's that came with Windows 8 preinstalled and using the Win8 EC), along with that we should NOT recommend installing the Win7 EC firmware.
This is why I HIGHLY suggest contacting MSI if you are installing Windows 7 on one of these laptops and cannot get the touch buttons functioning properly. I agree that this SHOULD be supported in Windows 7, because like you, some users prefer Windows 7.
(Let me just state that I'm not sure how much of that information I should divulge, and hopefully no one cares that I do)
NOW, I am personally using a GT70 0NE with Windows 8 installed. I don't care for Windows 8, personally. Some aspects are faster, booting is better, and the general responsiveness of the OS is faster.
BUT, the desktop UI is absolutely horrid and reminds me of the days back in Windows 3.1 or earlier. The Metro UI is a complete waste in so far as a laptop or desktop are concerned, especially when it has no touch interface.
I personally use Start8 as my start button replacement. I have set the OS up to act essentially the same as Windows 7 and never get the Metro UI.
In this state, Windows 8 is very usable, it just isn't as 'pretty' as Windows 7 was. In fact, Windows 8 is downright bland compared to Windows 7 in that regard.
That's my personal experiences. Keep in mind that my GT70 0NE was one that came with Windows 7 pre-installed, so I won't have any issues AT ALL with the touch buttons no matter what OS is installed on the laptop.

  • MSI GT60 dedicated GPU question

Hello everyone! This is my first post
Basically i have a MSI GT60 2OC-003US, i have two questions regarding it.
First, I just bought a 27" monitor to plug into my notebook via HDMI. Now I have heard that the dedicated GPU (Mine is the GeForce GTX 770M) is not meant to be used at all times, however, when i plug in my HDMI to the monitor, the power light goes from white to orange indicating that the dedicated card is being used. Is there any way to make it so that it uses my integrated card instead of my dedicated? I am going to have my monitor connected at all times so i don't want it to be running off of my GTX.
And also, if i am gaming or have a monitor plugged in, and i stop gaming or unplug the monitor, the orange light should go back to being white since the dedicated gpu related programs are closed, yet it still stays orange? Wondering how i can fix that.
    Thank you lots!

GT60 2OC outputs video signal via dedicated GPU circuit. It's the hardware design. You can't change this architecture.
There're lots of processes using dedicated GPU out of your notices. You can go to NVIDIA Control Panel, find Desktop menu and check "Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area" to enable the activity window to quickly monitor which processes are using the dedicated GPU.

  • MSI GT60 0NE-404US mSata/SSD/HD?

Hi I've recently purchased a MSI GT60 0NE-404US from ncix.com. The computer itself came with a standard 5400rpm HD. I'm looking at upgrading it with a SSD and now here are some questions:
Does the computer have 2 2.5" HD bays?
Does it have a mSata port so I can simply buy a mSata SSD?
Can I use the SuperRaid function as advertised?
Because I've reading the forums and online but none of them have the correct information regarding the my exact model. I just want to make sure which SSD is supported so I can make the correct purchase.
    Much appreciated!

The only way to find out what you can use it to open the bottom of the laptop up and see what is there.
If you see a 'card' where the hard drive should be, then you have a SuperRaid card. If you don't have a card there, then you probably have another normal SATA port for a 2.5" HDD.
That's the only way to truly know, as the resellers (such as NCIX) can change and customize it for you and who knows what it really is.

  • MSi GT60 0NE Which HDD bay that supports port SATAIII?

    Hi,
I'm going to upgrade my notebook MSi GT60 0NE with OCZ Vertex 4 (256GB) will it be compatible with my notebook?
And which one is the HDD bay with the SataIII / Sata3 ?
Is it the one with a purple circle or the yellow one?

Quote from: Hearny on 15-May-13, 08:42:03
    Hey Jim,
From what I have read/heard from MSI reps in Aus, the model (same as which I am importing) will not come with the RAID0 adapter, it is capable but the bridge will need to be bought separately. It should have one SATAII port which the 750GB RPM HDD will be mounted and nothing in the SATAIII bay. Making it quick and easy to drop in a single SSD or purchase the RAID bridge and some mSATA SSD's. I still havent decided if I will go single or RAID yet :P
Svet and Darkhawk are a wealth of information in these forums, so if I'm wrong they will be happy to assist with any more questions
    Hearny
CORRECTION: "It should have one SATAII port which the 750GB RPM HDD will be mounted and nothing in the SATAIII bay." This information is not from MSI reps this is from a local MSI retailer, where the tech said he only had to fit the RAID0 adapter, no mention of moving 750GB RPM HDD to the secondary bay.
As far as I'm aware, this information is true. This is similar to how my laptop came configured, except I had the model with the RAID adapter and a single SSD installed.
The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is if they include the second (SATA III port) board. I would ASSUME they do, but I do not know this for sure that they do as I haven't bought one without the RAID adapter.
From a personal standpoint, I really enjoy the raid adapter. It's a great feature, and really provides tremendous performance in a very small package. I took the 128 GB SSD that came with my laptop out, bought a mSATA to SATA adapter and gave it to a friend so he could use it in his desktop. I then put 2 x Mushkin Atlas Deluxe 240 GB drives in my laptop, and it performs exceptionally well with 0 problems.
    Just my thoughts.....

  • MSI GT60 with Vertex 4 SSD - Freezing, won't load Windows only in SATA III port

    Hello,
New to the world of SSD's and trying to get my Vertex 4 to be able to operate at 6 Gb/s. I know that in my MSI GT60 that it has to be in port 1 because that is where the SATA III controller is, port 4 is just a SATA II. I was able to update the Vertex 4 to firmware version 1.5 and when it is plugged into port 4, no issues at all. It will run and take anything i throw it while running at 3 Gb/s in SATA II mode. My port 1 currently houses a 500gb Western Digital Scorpio drive.
As soon as i throw the Vertex 4 in port 1, issues arise. Sometimes i get a disk read error right after bios, sometimes it just freezes. On the latest Intel RST for my board, 11.2.0.1006 it can actually boot on occasion but 90% of the time freezes but still only reads 3 Gb/s when it does boot. It does the same thing in version 11.1.0.1006 and any older RST it just freezes or says disk read error and never boots.
I have my bios set to AHCI mode and i have tried the Vertex 4 by itself and also with the WD 500gb in the other port. When i switch back to Vertex 4 in port 4 and WD in port 1, no issues at all. Just trying to see if this is a known issue or anything else i can look at.  I made sure to break the RAID 0 and it was a clean install of windows 7 to the drive.
Running on bios E16F3IMS.10M.  The Vertex 4 is at its latest firmware as well.  I do have one PCI device i can't identify in Windows and thinking it might be the issue but can't narrow it down.  I have the Intel RST installed.
I also posted this on the OCZ forum and did their tips as well.
    Thanks!
    James
