MSI GT60-75X485FD questions

Hi,
I got a MSI GT60-75X485FD Notebook! It has 16F3EMS1.10U BIOS and 16F3EMS1.414 EC..
Is it possible to Flash UEFI BIOS? It was delivered with FreeDOS.. And can you mod BIOS and EC Firmware?
Thanks in advance and regards

BIOS ID is not correct one
If you mean to Win7 BIOS, nope.
depend, what kind of mods?
1) Sorry, BIOS ID is 16F3IMS1.10U!
2) I mean, I got Windows 7 BIOS and want to Switch to Windows 8 UEFI BIOS, I guess it doesn't work an may brick my Notebook..
3) Ok Forget EC for now, is it right, that modding EC Firmware is for custom fan profiles? I think I'll try RWEverything first..
So in conclusion, can you provide me a BIOS with hidden options unlocked? Thank you
Edit:
Sorry, if this is the wrong place, but I did further investigation regarding my fan problem.. In Windows (8.1) the fan is very loud (a few minutes after boot) while CPU usage is near 0! Only Thing I did, was take out the GTX 675MX so only Intel HD Graphics is used! I think it gets wrong info from GPU Fan Profile and so fan is allways at a high Level.. I tried Read Write Everything and the fan value is allways switching between 66 and 67, tried entering another value but it instantly Switches back to 66.. Is there a Special way Setting the value? I right clicked on it, "edit", and changed the value..

  • Hi Everyone Im New, Got Question About Upgrading MSI GT60 0ND With SSD

Hi Everyone I'm New, Got Question About Upgrading MSI GT60 0ND With SSD.
:welcome:So As I've stated I'm new here, or at least got a new MSI notebook.
Ive got the new MSI gt60 0ND with 750GB HD and 675 Ge-Force GTX , anyways to the bottom line.
I would like to Upgrade my computer with SSD that I bought and install the win8 on it, in order to speed things up, but I have encountered a few problems..
    1. there is no sticker on the back of the computer that gives information about the serial number of my windows 8...
    2. lets say in some magical way I could get the serial number out, can I use it to reinstall ? because Ive heard that you cannot use this CD key anyways unless you got a special win8 installation CD key from MSI because its MSI branded windows 8.
am I screwed    ? ?? ? I thought it is possible to upgrade with SSD but it seems like MSI made it very hard, I do not understand why they even putted the warranty void sticker on the expansion bay's .... WEIRD..
Please help !! Thanks in advance,

  • MSI GT60 dedicated GPU question

Hello everyone! This is my first post
Basically i have a MSI GT60 2OC-003US, i have two questions regarding it.
First, I just bought a 27" monitor to plug into my notebook via HDMI. Now I have heard that the dedicated GPU (Mine is the GeForce GTX 770M) is not meant to be used at all times, however, when i plug in my HDMI to the monitor, the power light goes from white to orange indicating that the dedicated card is being used. Is there any way to make it so that it uses my integrated card instead of my dedicated? I am going to have my monitor connected at all times so i don't want it to be running off of my GTX.
And also, if i am gaming or have a monitor plugged in, and i stop gaming or unplug the monitor, the orange light should go back to being white since the dedicated gpu related programs are closed, yet it still stays orange? Wondering how i can fix that.
    Thank you lots!

GT60 2OC outputs video signal via dedicated GPU circuit. It's the hardware design. You can't change this architecture.
There're lots of processes using dedicated GPU out of your notices. You can go to NVIDIA Control Panel, find Desktop menu and check "Display GPU Activity Icon in Notification Area" to enable the activity window to quickly monitor which processes are using the dedicated GPU.

  • Not getting enough performance out of Msi GT60 0NC

Hello there guys! Since I've got my laptop I have been getting the feeling that I am not getting enough power out of my toy. I dont know if its me who have too big expectations about this laptop or it really should be performing better?:( I have done hours of research regarding drivers, graphic setup and not at least overclocking which seems to raise the performance quite a bit but it easily gets unstable. I am using Msi's preinstalled drivers as it seems like they give the best performance so far. I have also installed the modded Firmware from https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162629.0 which works better than the original one from Msi. But still, i hear a lot of people playing demanding games on ultra with fps around 50-60. In bf3 I get around 40-60 on High with shadow on medium and post processing off, anti-aliasing off. Turbo is on + overclock. The performance in Gw2 is even worse.
So here is my question: am I expecting too much from the laptop or can I do something to improve it and make it run like a charm? Another question would be if it is possible to change powervoltage to get a higher overclock?
I would very much like to hear from u guys how your msi gt60 is performing:)
    Best regards, Mathias Kanstrup

Same here, Gt70 0NE + 680M; overclocking GPU core causes clockdowns so gains are minimal. Overclocking memory is successful upto about 2500MHz but gains are small as the memory isn't the restricting factor in preformance - or the effect is just minuscule. So mostly 2 to 8 % in benchmarks, max.
With extreme air cooling and a modified VBios, it's possible to get up to around 15%......I know this first hand.
I just don't care to do it since there's little point in pushing the hardware that hard regularly. Yes, it's great for bragging rights, but it's not useful for long term use unfortunately.
Overclocking the memory in the GTX675M might help a bit more than in the 680M. I'm not sure, I haven't really followed up on the other cards.

  • Need Help for my MSI gt60 0NE f3 hotkey

Hi guys, i brought MSI gt60 0NE october 2013 i installed games but now i want it back to factory reset. i used f3 hotkey for factory reset.
the question is after pressing f3 I should have an msi recovery manager pop up, but that is not what is happening.  After pressing f3 the windows boot manager comes up.  Under choose an operating system windows 7 is highlighted and I press enter. then system recovery option pop up (with the list of Repair your Computer,Systems Recovery etc.) instead of MSI manager option.
im looking for MSI manager option rather than system recovery option...

Not much you can do. Opening is pretty much a no go with tablets so a repair at your expense might be the only chance.

  • MSI GT60 2PC Dominator BIOS Update RAID0 problem

HI THERE , this is my first topic in msi forum and I hope you can solve my problem
I have the MSI GT60 2PC Dominator, my laptop came with FreeDOS with E16F4IMS.50Y non raid0 bios version (installed only one msata 128Gb), One day i upgraded my Laptop, I installed two more msata 128Gb. Now 384Gb Raid0 hard disk and i installed windows 8.1 64bit (Working UEFI mode).
I flashed the bios yesterday to the E16F4IMS.515 which is the latest one but it seems that it doesn't support the RAID0, i didn't care about that, i installed windows 8 but everyday i'm getting several problems with GPU and that blue screen and its really annoying.
So i tried to upgrade E16F4IMS.715 , But Flash_BIOS_by_UEFI_BIOS_Setup_Utility_e n.pdf this method not supported my laptop (Automatically restart after select bios file.), And i tried too EFI Shell mode bios update. But there is no Afuefix64.edi and FLASH.NSH files in New bios zip file. It has only E16F4IMS.715 file.
Now my question is How can i flash the bios to E16F4IMS.715?
Sorry for my bad English and i thanks for your corporation.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Sadly there is only 1 person that is able to help you with flashing procedure, but also directing you to the right BIOS file, and it's Svet. You might have to wait a little bit, as you may already know, it's users to users forum, and we come up when we can and if we actually want to.
What way did you flash the BIOS?
I used EFI BIOS utility method. I chose BIOS file and when i click OK button ,  it starts normally after 20-30sec. it doesn't update bios. How ever it works on E16F4IMS.515 (Non-RAID) bios updated successfully. But not working E16F4IMS.715 (RAID0) bios.

it is that possible to upgrade my HDD to SSD?
if yes what brand and size is compatible? and theres a 2 slot of HDD can i put 2 SSD?
I want to upgrade also the RAM upgrade 12gb elixir 1600. what brand and compatible RAM?

Yes, you can replace the 2.5 HDD to the same 2.5-inch SSD. For the recommended brand and size, since it's an old model, you can easily google some info on the Internet for reference.
About the RAM upgrade, you need to notice if it's DDR3L (low-voltage, 1.35V).
    if it's not DDR3L aka 1.35v ram
just get all new ram DDR3L and swap it will save your battery life and drop CPU temps a little

  • RAID & BIOS issues on MSI gt60

    Hi,
I apologize if this is not the right section or this question was already submitted (I honestly didn't knew what to search for,i'm a newbie).
    This is the problem:
I can't access to the BIOS anymore clicking repeatedly the "delete" button on my MSI gt60 0nc. I have also removed the RAID1, but in Windows there is only one HDD displayed in "Computer" and when I tried ubuntu it installed his data on both hard drives,as in RAID1. I can't understand if the RAID1 is really deleted.
    What I did:
To delete the RAID1 I entered the "Ctrl+i" menù via rebooting, I couldn't restore via F3 recovery (it only opened a "Choose boot device" menù). I entered in the BIOS and changed the hard disks to AHCI. I had to make a clean windows 7 installation with a dvd that I already had. How to restore the BIOS and how to make windows recognize the second HDD as an usable separate disk? If it's possible I would also like to know if drivers have to be installed in some specific order to avoid conflicts.
Thank you in advance, good day!

It's working perfectly!!  Thank you so much!
I rebooted and luckily no errors popped up. About the Ubuntu I will wait for the help of your friend before making any dangerous move then
That's a great article, I'm reading it right now. I'm not an expert but I would really like to become a "tech savvy" (this is the primary reason why I also want to install an unix based operating system)!
About the driver conflict thing that i wrote in the first post do you know something about it?
    Basically:
"I would like to know if drivers in windows have to be installed in some specific order to avoid conflicts since I had some problems with the Intel 4000 graphics drivers. I read the order is not important, but an other user in this forum had the same problem with the Intel 4000 graphic after the clean windows 7 installation and he basically resolved it with a fluke. How can I avoid driver's conflicts?"

eh bro you can google regarding your questions as this nb which i also have but with gtx680m can be upgraded to 780m. Try going to techinferno.com or with notebookreview.com. The card runs 100& on win7 from win8 and manage to successfully run the new mxm board with a little bios settings.

  • MSI GT60 0ND - Time to upgrade?

    Hi Guys,
So...after a long time i was inactive coz of work and other stressing stuff i'm back...starting with a question ofcourse :P ...
anyways guys i want to share you with somthing..after a year with my MSI GT60 0nd i started to notice some LAG and low FPS in some games..  (BattleField 4 and such), and now i'm really trying to think what to do if to buy a new one.. ? or try upgrading the one i already own from GPU 675GTX to the 780GTX or 765...
anyhow i really want to know if that's possible and if any one here has already done that...
Also !! is it possible to upgrade the CPU ? ? to the new gen 4700 ?? i know already now that the chances it can happen are low but i'm not sure so i'm asking...Thanks guys!!

    Hey Dark Hawk,
sorry for the time it took me to replay.
Thanks for the time you took to answer me, i really dont want to purchase a new laptop right now and i do want to upgrade it.
i dont know where to buy an mobile gpu(770gtx or 780) is there any place that sells those and ships? how much should it cost ?
regarding to the cpu i would be glad if you could tell me if i could get to a really major improvment or its a waste of time.. ?
Thanks again, i appriciate it alot!
The CPU is most likely not worth the cost to replace it, to be perfectly honest. You COULD do it, and you might see a slight performance increase, but not like going from a 3910 to a 4700 or something.
The GPU upgrade will help the most. You should be able to technically handle a GTX780M, provided you have at least a 180W power supply. You can get those from Ebay or resellers. You might be able to get one straight from MSI as well.

  • MSI GT60 0NE-404US mSata/SSD/HD?

Hi I've recently purchased a MSI GT60 0NE-404US from ncix.com. The computer itself came with a standard 5400rpm HD. I'm looking at upgrading it with a SSD and now here are some questions:
Does the computer have 2 2.5" HD bays?
Does it have a mSata port so I can simply buy a mSata SSD?
Can I use the SuperRaid function as advertised?
Because I've reading the forums and online but none of them have the correct information regarding the my exact model. I just want to make sure which SSD is supported so I can make the correct purchase.
    Much appreciated!

The only way to find out what you can use it to open the bottom of the laptop up and see what is there.
If you see a 'card' where the hard drive should be, then you have a SuperRaid card. If you don't have a card there, then you probably have another normal SATA port for a 2.5" HDD.
That's the only way to truly know, as the resellers (such as NCIX) can change and customize it for you and who knows what it really is.

  • MSI GT60 ONE Dead GPU or Motherboard?

    Hi guys
So I owned MSI GT60 ONE and it doesn't want to boot even into POST. The power button only flash then it turn off again, I remove my battery and only powers up with AC adapter or vice-versa it still the same. Then, I removed the GPU and try running it with integrated cpu it works normally. It boots into Windows, completed the prime torture test even playing games normally. All of the notebook features function normally so it seems clearly my gpu is died.
However what bothers me is from what I know, if a gpu is died it can still turn on and working even though showing no display at the screen or displaying artifacts, but this in my case it refused to boot. My question is, is it the GPU only that died or there might be some problems in the motherboard? Because if I buy a replacement GPU, Im afraid to encounter any problems in the future.  Sadly and very unlucky, my warranty is expired last month  and I dont have any GPU spare to test it.
Thanks any help is really appreciated

I would contact MSI about this.
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
The MSI GT60 0NE isn't that old, it should still be under warranty.

    Hey Jim,
From what I have read/heard from MSI reps in Aus, the model (same as which I am importing) will not come with the RAID0 adapter, it is capable but the bridge will need to be bought separately. It should have one SATAII port which the 750GB RPM HDD will be mounted and nothing in the SATAIII bay. Making it quick and easy to drop in a single SSD or purchase the RAID bridge and some mSATA SSD's. I still havent decided if I will go single or RAID yet :P
Svet and Darkhawk are a wealth of information in these forums, so if I'm wrong they will be happy to assist with any more questions
    Hearny
CORRECTION: "It should have one SATAII port which the 750GB RPM HDD will be mounted and nothing in the SATAIII bay." This information is not from MSI reps this is from a local MSI retailer, where the tech said he only had to fit the RAID0 adapter, no mention of moving 750GB RPM HDD to the secondary bay.
As far as I'm aware, this information is true. This is similar to how my laptop came configured, except I had the model with the RAID adapter and a single SSD installed.
The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is if they include the second (SATA III port) board. I would ASSUME they do, but I do not know this for sure that they do as I haven't bought one without the RAID adapter.
From a personal standpoint, I really enjoy the raid adapter. It's a great feature, and really provides tremendous performance in a very small package. I took the 128 GB SSD that came with my laptop out, bought a mSATA to SATA adapter and gave it to a friend so he could use it in his desktop. I then put 2 x Mushkin Atlas Deluxe 240 GB drives in my laptop, and it performs exceptionally well with 0 problems.
    Just my thoughts.....
