MSI GT60 Too much heat issue ! help

i have msi gt60 0nc (windows 8.1 x64 / i7-3610QM / gtx 670m / 16G ram / 1T hdd )
and when i play games the gpu and cpu temp retch 80c after less then one hour of gaming like need for speed rivals
and temp increases to reach more then that but i exit the game immediately to cool the gpu/cpu
my turbo and fan is on .. pls help me is that normal/safe or what  ?
attaching some pic
thanks

Depending on what model of GT60 you have, 90C isn't terrible.
If you go much higher than 95C I would start worrying, but 90C seems to be about the normal operating temperature of a newer (Core i7 4xxx series + GTX8xx series combo) GT60. Once you start going above 95C you're going to start throttling very quickly.....and that's not good.
Worst case you might want to repaste the CPU and GPU. This is a rather common problem on the notebooks.

  • C560 - Too much heat at monitor after Win 10 upgrade

    Hi Friends, Before upgrading to win 10, I made clean format to win 8.1 and updated it full.  After upgrading to win 10, right side of the monitor (up to down) there is too much heat and is untouchable cause of heat.  Also, the hardisc and display card is making too much noise after upgrade to win 10. Is it normal? And what can I do?

  • MSI GT60 20J BSOD MEMORY Issue

    Hello everyone,
    I'm having some problems with my laptop lately, and I'd like some help from experts here if possible. I have bought this laptop MSI GT60 2OJ-097US 3 months ago, and along with it I also bought 4 memories Kingston 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L (PC3-12800) 1.35V Non-ECC CL11 SODIMM.
    When my laptop arrived I immediately installed the 32 GB of memory, so I started using the new laptop with 32 GB memory since the beginning, and the first BSOD was a week after that. I didn't care much about it at the beginning, but a month ago these BSODs have becoming more frequent, like twice a week. I use this laptop everyday, I even use it for work.
    Well, I see in BSOD this message "memory_management" so I decided to run a test using Windows memory diagnostic tool and it gave memory errors. A week ago, to isolate the problem and to find what was causing it, I run the test for each memory bank in the same slot, and run the test for each memory slot with the same memory bank, and everything passed the test. Finally, I run the test with all memory banks inserted and it passed the test this time, I did it again to be sure and it passed, so I assumed that changing memory positions maybe resolved the issue. However, today I got the same BSOD again, and the memory diagnostic tool resulted in memory errors.
    I have read in some forums that I can try raising voltage +0.05 but I can't find the option in BIOS setup.
    I've downloaded and installed CPU-Z but I don't have the knowledge to interpret it. I'm posting the screenshots here, so you can see if there is any problem. Please see screenshots below:
    I have Windows Ultimate 7, I upgraded from Windows 7 Professional.
    I would greatly appreciate if you can provide some advice to solve this problem.
    Thanks

    Hi chc, BIOS update seems to fix the problem, because it has been 4 days without any BSOD.
    Before the update my laptop crashed at least once a day. I had updated the intel and nvidia drivers too, but it wasn't until I updated BIOS that BSOD stopped.
    By the way, I purchased this laptop from Amazon and it came with a BIOS version from 2012.
    Thanks

  • Combining clob taking too much time - need help

    Hello,
    I want to append clob values into another clob value like
    declare
    v_temp clob;
    v_c1_temp clob;
    cursor c1 as select clob_data from t;
    -- here t table contains clob_data column holding clob data
    -- t table have more then 1500 rows
    begin
    v_temp := '';
    open c1 into v_c1_temp;
    loop
    v_temp := v_temp + v_c1_temp; --------- combining clob (concat may be used)
    end loop;
    close(c1);
    end;
    above part also repeats in outer loop (not shown here)
    my problem is :- it is taking too much time - you dont believe 90% more time due to that concatenation.
    is it any smart way to do same thing?
    It will be very helpful to me.

    Hi ,
    You should also always try and have the latest BI content patch installed but I don't think this is the problem. It seems that there
    are alot of objects to collect. Under 'grouping' you can select the option 'only necessary objects', please check if you can
    use this option to  install the objects that you need from content.
    Best Regards,
    Des.

  • MSI GX 740 - Strange heat issue!

    Hello!
    I've had some heat issues with my MSI gx 740 for a while. It's constantly turning off when playing a game, and I can't turn on my computer for a while, or it will turn off during boot. What makes this strange is that when i was using SpeedFan to measure my temperatures it changed dramatically within a minute!!
    Photo number one shows ATI control center and SpeedFan when running CS:S in the background (windowed)
    Photo number two shows ATI and SpeedFan when running CS:S!
    Notice the time! How is this possible?
    I have also thought about apply cooling supply (thermal compund/heat sink?). How do I apply this? (Point out on the previous photo?)

  • Dv4 1241TX issue getting too much heated, processes are very slow

    I've got Pavilion dv4 1241tx notebook. 11 months old. only genuine s/w including OS installed.
    It gets heated up very fast, you can actually fry an egg on that i guess.
    the processing gets very slow that simple game like counter strike (needs 256 ram, mine is 3 gb ram) doesn't run smoothly.
    HP has to to something for this problem. today i went to the athd. service center and the guy told me to hand-over the laptop for checking. i wrote a mail to HP care, but i guess HP is minting toooo much of money, so why bother.
    As compared to other laptop (dell, lenovo) HP comes at a price almost similar to them but the overall performance is pathetic.i have been an computer pro right from my school days and now regret of not buying the MAC.
    HP guys please reply if you have any solution to my problems. otherwise i guess this is how HP works.

  • MSI GT60-0NC Paging File Size Help!

    I'm having issues with my laptop (http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT60-0NC.html#/?div=Overview) after messing with the paging file settings. I'm wondering what the default values are for this particular laptop.
    I'm not sure what it was before I started messing with it, but after I changed it my benchmark for 3d renderings (architectural visualizations done through maxwell render) have dropped more than significantly.
    While rendering, my physical memory usage is about 95%, my CPU usage is only 4% (which should be between 70-90%), and my Disk usage is 100%. Disk usage must be my problem, because when I check the resource monitor my the system is writing about 10,000,000 B/sec to the pagefile, while maxwell is reading about 13,000,000 B/sec from the pagefile. This read / write of the pagefile keeps my disk usage at 100% throughout the render.
    If I allow windows to "automatically manage the paging file size for all drives," it allocates 12288 to drive C: (OS) and none to the other drive in the RAID. Displayed at the bottom is "Minimum allowed: 16 MB; Recommended: 5107 MB; Currently allocated: 12288 MB"
    What started the problem is when I went to manually manage the pagefile myself, and moved the paging file to the other RAID drive (D:), and ever since I haven't been able to render properly. I'm trying to isolate my problem, and this is the only significant change I made to this system since it was able to render correctly, other than removing it's ability to hibernate.
    Anyone have any advice? My first step was to allow windows to automatically control the pagefile again, and its back on the C drive, but the problem still persists. I also did a system restore to a date before I made these changes, and that didn't help either.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Thanks for the response.
    Both drives in my raid are HDD, and are set to defragment weekly. Defragmenter says it was last run today, and they are both 0% fragmented.
    Update:
    My issue ended up being a corrupt scene file (for the rendering program), which once I rewrote the scene the problem has disappeared. Disk usage is back to very low, and CPU usage is back to 100% where it should be during a rendering. Slowdown was associated with the corrupt file causing me to hit the limit of my physical memory, which caused the major slowdown in reading/writing massive amounts of overflow to the pagefile.
    That's great. Atleast you know what the problem was and know how to solve it next time!

  • "Other" taking up too much space, please help!

    I have an 8GB ipod touch 4th generation (which actually means 6.4GB), and the "other" category in the capacity bar is taking up 3.1GB. I have no notes, no calendar events, no reminders, no messages, no voice memos, and only 6 contacts. I've tried "clear history" and "clear cookies and data" for safari and nothing seems to help. This "other" bar seems to keep growing and I have no idea what the cause of it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    I have this same issue with an 8GB Ipod Touch (my daughter's).  I have tried the "Restore from Backup" option and the "Other" stuff did not go away (still at 2.58 GB out of the 6.39 GB available).  It sounds like my next option is to do a "Restore to Factory Settings".  I generally understand the process, but have the following specific questions:
    1) After I restore to factory settings, can I then give the Ipod the same name it had originally?
    2) After I (re)name the "new" Ipod, can I recover all of the content that was deleted during the factory restore?  The Ipod successfully performed a Backup and Sync to iTunes this morning.  The most critical information seems to be old text messages and progress in apps/games.  Can this information be recovered by selecting the "Restore from Backup" option AFTER I do the "Restore to Factory Settings"?
    This is confusing to me, as it would seem that if I do the "Restore from Backup" that I will just re-create the original problem with the 2.58GB of "Other" stuff.  However, if I DON'T "Restore from Backup" then how will I recover the old texts and app data/progress?
    Please help me see what I am missing here.  Thanks!

  • How much is too much heat?

    I just got my Macbook last week and have seen the issues with the operating temps. I installed the CoreDuoTemp utility today and have noticed that my notebook is running around 122 degrees (F) while it is in use. Slighly lower when it is sitting idle. This is on a flat desk surface. I dont really hear my fan running at any time either. Should I be concerned with this level of heat or isit somewhat normal.?

    I've heard these new MacBooks are getting pretty hot, though I don't know how normal that is. I used a Powerbook G4 titanium for years and it got pretty hot as well... don't know if the new MacBook's get just as hot or hotter since I haven't used one. On another note, seem even PC laptops get hot as well though, my ex had a Compaq laptop and that thing got hot enough to cook an egg on underneath. Sooo... I think for the most part, this scenerio is normal, especially with laptops...
    And "ovenbook" ... like that term!

  • IPhone checking POP3 email downloading too much data. HELP

    Can others confirm this problem?
    I have an Iphone 3gs 16gb. I have 2 mail accounts. If I click the mail account it will connect, check for mail, then say updated. I do this on both of the mail accounts.
    I then check my usage under settings, and the iphone has used 884KB to check for email. I've attempted this on 2 seperate iphones.
    Can someone else confirm this same problem happens to them? What this means is if you have 2 email accounts set to check every 15 minutes, you'll blow right through your 2 GB cap, JUST ON EMAIL.
    As a side note, checking for new emails using POP3 is supposed to use about 6kb or less of data usage. So, it appears the iPhone pop3 email reader has some serious issues.

    Do you have push notifications turned off? Have you used any applications prior to checking e-mail that uses any of the dozen features that requires data like Maps/GPS? It is possible if you have multiple things running including e-mail that it's the 800Kb along with e-mail.
    Most users run IMAP protocol however instead of POP protocol. If your e-mail company serves IMAP this may be lesser usage and it includes several features including calendar and contacts.

  • Can my machine be updated to run 10.6 without too much performance issues?

    Hello,
    I have a iMac5,1 model machine,
    Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz,
    2 GB RAM.
    When I bought it, it had OS X 10.4 installed, but my harddrive got replaced after a failure, the new drive had 10.5 installed. I've been using that ever since.
    Since more and more software is becoming unavailable for 10.5, with no options of using older versions, I have been looking into getting a new machine, but not really able to afford one, the alternative is to update the OS to 10.6. I see it requires 1 GB RAM, so it should run fine on this machine, but as once I go for this option, there is no way back (I don't have a 10.5 install disc), I wanted to be sure it would run and not cause a decrease in performance.
    I am using my machine to record screencasts, for higher performance software, that just about works. Any noticeable decrease in performance would mean I wouldn't be able to get the same quality work anymore.
    Also, is there anything else I should be aware of when updating? Do I need to wipe my drive first, or does the install delete the old OS, install the new and leave all Applications and other files as they are?
    Thanks in advance

    Snow Leopard is an excellent OS and the last one capable of using Rosetta and will also empower you to use App Store.    I have had an excellent relationship with it for 5 years.
    I think your machine qualifies but the first thing to do is check out the formal specs needed for Snow Leopard.
    Minimum specs.   Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard -Read the Technical Specifications
    If you pass that test ... you can go on to buy Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD.
    In the USA go to http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard   In Europe or elsewhere substitute your national code in place of /us above.
    In the UK …  the last known price was £14.
    Before you start upgrading, back up your files.
    Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard you will need to apply the Combo updater.   Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1  and follow with a software update to pick up any later updates.
    Your memory is sufficient at 2GB but 4GB would be better.

  • 27" LED display drawing too much USB power?

    I'm having the infamous "USB device is drawing too much power" issue, but in my case it's a little different. Whenever I plugin the USB cord from my 27" LED display to the MacBook, it results in the above error (too much power, USB is disabled).
    I've narrowed down the following:
    1. Happens on two different MacBook Pros.
    2. Happens when LED display is powered from different outlets.
    3. It seems 2 of the 3 USB ports on the back of the display are not working.
    This started happening after I moved about a month ago and reconnected everything, including a USB Hub I was using previously. I also have a SD card reader, all of which was plugged in and ready to go. When I powered up everything, the lights on the Card Reader and USB were actually pulsing, which didn't look right so I immediately powered everything down. Checked all connections and tried again. Same thing happened, so I unplugged the card reader and USB hub.
    At this point, I had my keyboard plugged into the monitor which is how it was prior (before my move). I powered up everything again and while waiting for the keyboard to come on (the keys are illuminated), I noticed it was actually VERY hot - the underside of the keyboard. So I unplugged it and had a little bit of a sonofa***** moment. The keyboard seemed fried. It wouldn't come on for anything, so I went and bought a new one.
    Soon as I get home, I plugged the new keyboard directly into the laptop and ignored the external LED display. Everything seemed to work fine, so I tried plugging the external monitor in, but soon as I connected the USB cord... this error pops up every single time.
    Is this a USB cord issue (on the LED display) or what?  I'm at a loss of what could have happened, since when I moved everything was transported very carefully. The LED display was even in it's original retail box, so nothing was damaged in the move, USB cord included.
    Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I know ultimately I may need to bring it in for repair (still within warranty as I purchased the display in May 2011)... but I'm trying this first incase anyone has any ideas that could help me avoid that hassle.

    Smc reset sometimes addresses some power issues.
    It is possible that when that first keyboard failed when plugged into the back of the display it somehow damaged the display usb ports.
    If you are under warrantee, take it to apple and let them deal with it.
